Kabwe Warriors were be biggest gainers in the FAZ Super Division on Saturday after a key 2-1 away win over promoted Green Eagles in Choma.
Saturday’s win was Warriors fifth under coach Mohammed Fathy since he took charge at the end of May.
The win also erased bitter memories of the free three points Eagles won in Kabwe in the first left leg in April when the match was abandoned in the 70th due to crowd trouble in a match Eagles were leading 2-0 in what was Wesley Mondo’s last game of his four-match reign.
And in Choma, Meki Kabeya and Siloni Jere put Warriors 2-0 ahead into halftime after strikes in the 13th and 26th minutes respectively.
However, Warriors were reduced to ten men in the 65th minute when Solomon Sakala was red carded after a foul inside his own area and Eagles goalkeeper Satchmo Chakawa stepped up to convert the penalty.
Warriors jump from 13th to 8th on 22 points after the win to enhance their hopes of survival.
And their was also joy for National Assembly who beat fellow promoted side Indeni 2-0 to earn their first league win since six games.
Aaron Silwimba and Chiluba Tiki scored for Assembly to hand them their first win since beating Eagles 1-0 at home on June 7.
Elsewhere, leaders Zanaco drew 0-0 away at Napsa Stars but still opened a four point lead at the summit of the table.
And Red Arrows began life under Mathews Phiri with a 0-0 home draw with Mine Police.
The draw ended Arrows eight-match losing run.
Two more matches take place on Sunday when Power Dynamos host Nchanga Rangers in Kitwe while Nakambala Leopards visit Konkola Blades in Chililabombwe.
