Levy Sakala joins Chipolopolo in prayer

Share

Gospel music artist Levy Sakala on Monday morning joined the home based Chipolopolo squad in prayer on the side-lines of the monthly camping in Lusaka.

The ex-Sakala Brothers member was spotted at Barclays Sports Complex during the team’s first work-out on Monday morning.

Zambia coach Honour Janza said the national team is open to the clergy offering prayers.

“God is always at work so we always allow room for God to give strength to the boys. We are open to allowing men of God coming to join us,” Janza said.

He added:”We are open to more men of God but of course we have to take one at a time.”

  1. stop the hogwash,in football its skill that matters and not prayers.did you see the Germans praying at any time or van persie?mukose fye bane

  2. If anyone out there still foolishly believes in the power of prayer and God to help you win a game of football, I present to you, this… July 09, 2014, Brazil vs Germany. The Brazilians were busy pointing to the skies and muttering endless prayers to, well, you-know-who with the idea that finger pointing and prayers galore would help them to triumph. We all know what came after that! That should tell you that whatever is up there is either not listening, doesn’t give a damn or simply, doesn’t really exist (yeah, go ahead and crucify me for that comment but the facts speak for themselves!)

    • Blasphemy! God is there and He has no favourites. The same way God lets the Sun shine on the evil and the good and lets it rain on both, He gives victory according to the abundance of His grace in glory and according to His Will.

  3. I did not approve this. Its suposed to be hard like me Kambwili having big skeletons but am not fat so watch out Janza..

  5. Football is not about winning always.Prayer is also a form of team building exercise but above all is to seek the lords guidance. How many times have you seen players collapsing and then certified dead minutes later?Don’t mock God @danobo and Jay Jay.
But just remember God loves you

    • if you believe in that nonsence its your own funeral.football is about winning always, who told you it is not?are you a dreamer?why competing if in the end its not about winning.so you don’t know that even an ardent prayer can collapse and die?those chaps must just improve on their skill reduce on beer and sex and trim their egos and be disciplined.intact what they needed was a motivational speaker and an investment manager to give them guidance on how to harness their little money.football is a short career after all.so stop your nonsense

    • God in sport! You think He is a Chipolopolo fan? Which bible do you read? Psalm 145:9 says, “The Lord God is good to all: He has compassion on all He has made.” God does not take sides in trivial activities of men such as football. Let our players concentrate on training not prayers.

  6. It’s sad to see the comments emanating from a people belonging to a “Christian nation”. Why should the LORD be left out of football? He is interested in every area of our lives and therefore we should ” commit whatever you do to the LORD, and your plans will succeed”. I personally commend what Levy is doing and may the LORD grant the team, the fear of His name and ultimately, the success.

  7. God makes the sun shine on everyone, both the Zambia national team and our opponents so let us not think that he is for us alone. So just train hard and you will be rewarded with success . God blesses everyone, including your enemies so don’t be selfish by thinking that he just there for you alone. Train hard, moba na bakazi musiye.

  8. God is the creater of all things and it is good to prayer for anything you do.It does not mean when you pray automatically you are going to win. When you pray you are communicating to God for the protection and calling upon his presence to remove all evil surounding our beautiful game. Please let the national team pray every time even after losing

  9. I pity those who are so far away from God in a country where everybody has been exposed to the word of God.Pls soften yr heart to the word of God thru His son Jesus Christ you have no excuse not to recognize prayer in this nation.I pray that you’ll have an encounter with God one of these days.

  10. Zambian must never rely on prayers to tackle problems, yes it is good to pray if you believe in such. But honestly writing, there is little prayer can do in sports. If you are not good, you are simply not good and it is always the better teams with better skills and tactics that win. I’m sure even our opponents will be praying to beat us 😀 !

  11. My prayer is that let it be an entertaining game worth the money spectators shall pay for; whoever wins I dont care as long its the best team
