Kasama Central Member of Parliament Geoffrey Mwamba says his recent donation of his entire gratuity from the National Assembly is genuine.
Mr Mwamba said he made the donation with no strings attached in order to assist in uplifting the lives of the people of Kasama Central.
He also rubbished claims that he announced the donation of his full gratuity as a way of competing with Matero MP Miles Sampa who had earlier donated his midterm gratuity towards a youth empowerment programme in the area.
Mr Mwamba told Journalists in Kasama that he is not interested in competing with Mr Sampa or any other politician.
“I don’t compete with anyone except my pocket. My competition is my pocket and not anyone. Zambians can remember that in 2011 I donated my gratuity and so this is not something new for me. It is something that I like doing,” Mr Kasama said.
He added, “People don’t raise eyebrows each time I donate to Churches everywhere in this country. Why should a K 500,000 donation raise dust?”
Mr Mwamba said his main preoccupation is serving the people of Kasama as Member of Parliament.

Good gesture by GBM must not be confused for competition with Miles Sampa’s image building and his ambitions. GBM donated freely but Sampa did not donate ANYTHING to anyone at all. Sampa opened a Taxi company where he will be getting back three ford in profits plus his gratuity will be accumulating huge interest in the bank for the same period. What Sampa did is just PR to poor and unsuspecting dull chaps. Its like any other person who opens a shop and employ 12 pipo no donation at all wake up pipo. Sampa even asked a foolish question that what have I done to deserve that, look at this; he gets K25, 000.00 monthly for having a constituency, K26,400.00 basic pay not to add huge allowances for being deputy minister, K750.00 per day during parley sittings and further K750.00 in a committee

One wonders why these empty tins like one GBM even choose to become MPs as they clearly do not know what they role of an MP is. If MPs like him and Sampa are donating taxpayer’s money to their constituents then there is clearly something wrong with the Constituency Development Fund (CDF). There is need to review this fund as it is constantly mismanaged and riddled with corruption….should even be scrapped.
Son your reasoning leaves a lot to be desired more often than not. The Constituency Development Fund might be there, but what is wrong with him adding more on top of it ? Have you asked yourself if he will donation will be in liquid cash or he will also invest into some profit generating venture ? If CDF is not enough then what is he doing in National assembly..why is he not lobbying for an increase. You see nothing wrong with a MP donating taxpayer’s money to constitutents….why not just forego it and save the taxpayer having to pay him. Why did he donate his salary when he was in govt, just because he stepped down does not change the fact the he is a corrupt man who single sourced contracts to his companies.

On the Malawi on line media of 14th August(www.nyasatimes.com), Malawians are complaining that their Mchinji district hospital is invaded by Zambians due to scarcity of drugs in Zambian hospitals. That is how bad PF has performed.

GBM is very generous, but he has neglected the burial site where his maternal grandfather lies. I mean Kapwepwe royal burial site where the father of GBM’s mother was buried, in Chief Munkonge’s chiefdom. He needs to donate money to do the road leading to this burial site. The road stems from Kasama Luwingu road at Mumana Lupando.

Though I do not support GBM, due is expected , I do so . He has done a lot in kasama . You called me stupid and nuisance for no reason. I think you misunderstood my point. I did not disparage GBM, neither did I play down his generous contribution to Kasama town. I actually qualified it by saying that GBM is ’very generous.’ I was just trying to draw his attention to that other part of Kasama. There is no dispute as to which one is the burial place for chiefs Munkonge and Mumporokoso. It is Imilenge in Senior Chief Mwamba’s chiefdom. As a matter of fact, Munkonge and Mumporokoso are sons of Mwamba. GBM happens to be a son of chief Munkonge. I did not mention the burial place for chiefs . I mentioned a royal burial site called Akapwepwe in chief Munkonge’s chiefdom where people related to the royal family are buried. You can carry out a research.
