Zesco United smashed Nkana 3-0 at the Trade Fair Grounds in Ndola on Saturday to see the defending FAZ Super Division champions relinquish their crown.
Zesco top the table on 55 points but fourth placed Nkana on 46 points cannot breach that threshold in their remaining three games.
John Chingangu put Zesco 1-0 into the break after finding the target in the 24th minute before Jackson Mwanza scored his 16th goal of the season with Zesco’s second in the 55th minute.
Mwanza turned provider for Cletus Chota in the 63rd minute to see Zesco complete back-to-back league wins over Nkana this season.
Ironically, Zesco’s 1-0 first leg away in Kitwe in July prompted Nkana’s executive to demote Zeddy Saileti and hire Beston Chambeshi.
Meanwhile, Roan United were relegated without kicking the ball after Green Buffaloes and Zanaco finished 1-1 at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka.
Bottom placed Roan on 17 points can not surpass 13th placed Buffaloes and Red Arrows 29 point mark in their remaining four games even with their current inferior goal difference.
Meanwhile, Buffaloes took the lead in the 30th minute through Allan Mukuka before Moses Phiri equalised in the 53rd minute.
Buffaloes are not out of the woods and are fourth from bottom in 13th place and facing the real prospect of being demoted for the first time since 1999.
Zanaco are third on 53 points, tied with Power who could go top on Sunday if they beat Napsa Stars away in Lusaka.

I projected at the beginning of the season that power could win this year’s league, let’s see shall we?
Zambia is not going to qualify to the 2015 moroco africa cup because the team lacks seriousness. This is a bitter pill to swallow but we just have to accept the reality. There is noway you can get 2 points out of 9 points and expect to qualify.I put my money on cape verde and mozambique.Nigeria also stand a chance of being eliminated they have managed 1 point out of 9 points.
mizi u r right,we cant qualify this time around, our boys have lost the momentum they had after winning the afcon cup.
55-46=9
3 Wins =9 points
Simple mathamatics. With a superior goal difference the race is not over. However it Power will likely win it.
Ba Power dont b like the National team who win games b4 they are played. Ba Red will waiting 4 u and Zanaco there4 b careful
