United Party for National Development (UPND) Liumba Ward Councilor Changano Mbangu is dead.

Mbangu , 32 , was found dead under a tree in Chikote village in Kalabo district about 30 kilometers away from his home.

Kalabo District Council Chairman Luke Katongo, Council Secretary Millie Muluti and Police Officer- in-Charged Kim Masambo confirmed the development which happened around 19:00 hours last Friday in separate interviews with ZANIS in Kalabo today.

Mr Masambo explained that Kalabo police rushed to the scene to pick up the body and took it to the district hospital mortuary on Sunday around 16:00 after receiving a phone call.

The cause of death is not yet clear and the body of the deceased is still in the mortuary awaiting burial.

And Kalabo council secretary Millie Muluti described Mbangu as a young and vibrate vibrant civic leader who was passionate about what he did in the community.

She said the Councillor’s death was a great loss to both the family and the local authority as he represented both parties.

  1. BA LT, “…vibrate civic leader…”. OR VIBRANT CIVIC LEADER? ANYWAY, EVERY ARTICLE IN YOUR PAPER IS FULL OF GRADE 7 BROKEN ENGLISH. SO, I SHOULDN’T BE SURPRISED.

    • HH wayamba ama ritual sacrifices ? Still tayakabombe yakatuna mu 2016 boi nangu wipaye banga.

    • Sad. Such a young man. HH should consider donating the cows he wanted to donate to Sata`s funeral to this one. Mhsrip

    • Could be a number of reasons…. Until a post mortem is carried out, we can’t jump to conclusions. It could be a snake bite, heart attack etc.

    • 30 Km away? He might have got lost, thirty, hungry and exhausted and died. Just 32 yrs old, he could have been MP in next elections.

  2. This sad reading. Condolences to the family on the loss of their loved one.

Could it be that he is one of the UPND Councillors who refused to defect to PF and now they are being killed.

The problem with Zambia is that, their is no forensic science department to investigate the cause of death thoroughly and find the perpetrators. This I feel is one area we need to do something about without fail.

  3. HH wayamba ama ritual sacrifices ? Still tayakabombe yakatuna mu 2016 boi nangu wipaye banga.

  4. Family members may have valid info but the death and should take action. Waiting for govt will not yield anything tangible. An eye for an eye bamboo!!!
