World renowned business leader Sir Richard Branson of the Virgin Group will make the key note address at the forthcoming Zambia Investment Conference.
Sir Branson who has a long track record of business success learnt will use his key note address to go some distance in nurturing the enterprise culture of Zambians in different sectors of the economy.
?ZDA Director General Patrick Chisanga told a media briefing that Sir Branson will be sharing some insights on enterprise and investment, giving a rare insight into the enterpreneurial drive that has seen the Virgin Group into a multinational branded venture capital congoloremerate.
Mr C?hisanga said having Sir Branson alongside local and international entrepreneurs and businesses, policy and decision makers is a timely affirmation of the enduring qualities of the Zambian economy and it’s resilience.
He said the Zambia Investment Conference to be held from December 04-05 2014 will showcase how the Zambian economy, it’s people and prospects are a success story waiting to happen.
Mr Chisanga said along with renowned world entrepreneurs will be a number of existing and potential investors who will be attending the conference.
Some of the investors attending the conference are Amathheon from Germany, International Enterprise Singapore, Olam Singapore, Italy Real Estate Industry from Milan, Italy Cement Group to mention but a few.
During the conference, ZDA is expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Enterprise Singapore as a way of enhancing the country’s investment and trade promotion.
Brilliant. And where is the venue and how does one get to attend?
Funny that, I too was looking for venue, but thought I had misread!
Some if us have senior business people we worked for in various leading companies and banks whom we could put forward for such conferences. Only yesterday I was trying to match a former boss in Textiles to a such a conference where they can get information.
Do we just send them to our embassy, which last I visited NEEDS to be refurbished with NEW furniture and properly laid out by an interior designer. It is important to how Zambia presents itself. It does not even have to be expensive, some leading Art Colleges can set a task for students in interior design to come up with ideas to refurbish at no cost save it will give the students experience under tutor guidance. I know my Art university would.
Richard Branson has killed two people with his nonsensical space tourism program. Keep him out of Zambia, unless he is going to bring Virgin Air there.
Why don’t we make earth better for everyone before running to space.
I am sure you wont find Mushota commenting on this article
LT, do we take it for granted that this will take place in Zambia because it is the ‘Zambia Investment Conference’?
VENUE INFORMATION? YOU ARE ASKING FOR TOO MUCH FROM OUR ZAMBIAN JOURNALISTS.
what is the venue? what is the entry charge?
This is the man the Chipuba Minister needs to talk to about a Joint Venture for an airline! Not going to meeting and asking for free tickets to London!
Braza ba Lusaka Times, there is no such thing as “Sir Branson”.
He is Sir Richard
Use the first name when you address the man as a Knight. Otherwise call him Mr Branson
@Cartel Vs The clique 1.3
Mushota does not know who Branson is!
All this is happening because of Scott (It is about time we started putting Zambia first). Watch this space.
This is the most ridiculous comment I have ever read. Very *****ic and insulting to Zambians! Please hide it.
@susanoo: You sir are an a!ss
That was a bluff, I take it am write then?
It will be good to add Dr. Dambisa Moyo ,Dr Martins Davies Frontier Advisory or Clifford D. Mpare,Executive Chairman and CEO Frontline Capital Advisors Ltd.Accra, Ghana,Alvin Chikamba or John Oliphant to create the much needed investments opportunity appetite In Zambia and create awareness with lead global investors in all sectors from Asia America and Europe
Dr Davies Martins , Dr Moyo , D Mpare and Oliphant are proven investments advisors with large audience to bring along cease the opportunity and create synergy with local consultants and scholars to improve the investments perception of Zambia.I like the creativity of the German chamber and the Chinese to market and create awareness
We don’t need broke advisors crowding the place, let that achievers stand there so we can appreciate accomplishment not cadres celebrating someones work! Dambisa is just another well educated under achiever.
Chisanga zda , who is footing the bill of getting RIchard Branson here, I hope you are not using public funds as farmers are not yet paid. Zambia can not afford to squander resources on your grandiose project of little value to zambians
The private sector is funding the event. ZDA is a partner bringing the legitimacy of government support to the project.
Poorly researched, poorly written, lazy article. Typical of Zambian journalism. Somebody can’t even be bother to ask Richard Branson how they address Knighted personalities in the UK – just call the British Council for God’s sake. What guts do you have to criticise politicians when you can’t even do you jobs properly! But apart from that the whole story sounds stitched together in a hurry….showing the reporter doesn’t care less. What I have noticed about Zambian newspapers is that they are only good when it comes to political gossip about Kabimba and the cartel….beyond those two subjects reporters fail to write anything. The day Kabimba and the cartel retire, will mark the end of majority of reporting careers.
We rarely have this news in Zambia. It is just politics, football and s e x scandles so our Journalists have forgotten how to write news stories. Even bloggers here have the same problem. Someone says ‘CEASE the opportunity’ when they should be saying ‘SEIZE.’ In spite of spell checkers, the English is getting worseR and worseR (lol).
Use Zambian entrepreneurs like HH, Costain Chilala, GBM, Sindowe, even a few successful kapenta or tomato traders. Why bring someone Zambians cannot even relate to
@ Choma Maanu…….. I like that Haleisa Haleisa……viva the president.
Comrade, if you continue to fly with pigeons, you will never know how to relate to eagles. The local business guys are not inspiring simply because their achievements are based on others being disadvantaged, not that they were better than the rest of us!
‘He said the Zambia Investment Conference to be held from December 04-05 2014’ – HELD WHERE??? Do you not think it is important to include that information? SMH
Great opportunity to learn from people who actually do stuff instead of talking about doing stuff. Now just how to get into that conference and be in the presence of greatness…
Richard Branson only invests in places that are seasoned tourist attractions. He would only risk flying to Zambia if we sorted out our airports first. If the transport minister was serious, I would partner with the virgin boss in the rail industry. The njanji light rail could be revived to modern standards to decongest lusaka roads. We hope he will make a pledge to invest in Zambia.
Good to hear that news…..it will be beneficial to some but others it will going from one ear to another because they dont have plans or some have plans but don’t implement them other fear risk of failure or some lack of vision. But the many problem we dont put God first!
And you are the best naturally. Let people be! If they can pay a grand for it to go in and out one ear good for them!
Whoal!!,I must say I have liked the response this article has received. At least it has given a breather from the same old news of Cartels,Tribal Clique,Lungu this!,Scott that!,blah, blah, blah!! you know.
Venue please and information on attendance requirements I.e. Cost and any other relevant information
CONGRATULATIONS MR. CHISANGA. THIS IS BRILLIANT. KEEP IT UP,
HOW DO I REGISTER FOR ATTENDANCE?
It will certainly be nice of Sir Richard Branson if, from his hands-on experience, he could define prerequisites for a successful transport system. He has both Trains and planes. They don’t come any bigger than this in the air and rail transport sector.
Biggest U.S Airlines are profitable but reluctant to add capacity.
If you follow trades in the airline industry you will observe and see the risk an characteristics of major U.S aviation companies
For further follow-up and understanding in the sector and prepare for the inspiration see “‘aviationweek.com'” and understand the industry
Getting the them audience and speakers with focus to attracting FDI is the key for the conference to also inspire local thinking
Among the best Nick Padgett, Managing Director, Frontaura Capital US can also deliver value to the conference
Its a great idea and the published programme on major sites like books and institutions will be good
This is good news …this is a good for entrepreneurs to pick this man’s brains..excellent work ZDA more of this!!
pangea does well
