Opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) has reiterated its call for peace among Zambians as they mourn President Michale Sata.

UPND president, Hakainde Hichilema, has appealed to Zambians to desist from causing anarchy during the burial of President Sata set for Tuesday November 11, at Lusaka’s embassy park.

Mr Hichilema noted that funerals are emotional affairs that can invoke incidences that can disturb peace and unity.

The UPND president warned that any form of anarchy during the burial will be totally alien and a shame on the wish, stature and legacy of President Sata.

Mr Hichilema said President Sata deserves respect and honour from all Zambians regardless of their political affiliation.

He has since called on all Zambians to exercise maximum restraint against causing disorder and violence in the country.

Mr Hichilema commended Zambians for uniting and conducting themselves with dignity in mourning peacefully the passing of President Sata.

The UPND president urged Zambians to demonstrate peace and harmony during and after the burial especially that foreign dignitaries will come to attend the state funeral.

He also said he was pleased that calm has returned in the PF following an internal leadership conflict that arose when Edgar Lungu was dropped as Secretary General of the ruling party before being reinstated.

Mr Hichilema said this in a statement issued to the media in Lusaka today.

  1. Please practice to write just President Hakainde Hichilema, not UPND fimofimo.
But I am not sure if this new outlook of LT represents the new government.

    • THE FREEMASON HH MEANS THE OPPOSITE.ZAMBIANS DON T TRY TO PUT A DEVIL WORSHIPPER IN STATE HOUSE.DEVIL ONLY COMES TO DESTROYE,STEAL AND TO KILL……

    • NO MORE EXPERIMENTS….!!!BACK TO MMD.THE MAN OF GOD AT WORK.IF PF CONTINUE FIGHTING,MAY GOD GIVE POWER BACK TO MMD UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF NEVERS MUMBA

    • There can never be prosperity without peace and vice-versa. These two go hand in hand Mr President. The peace during the funeral and after it message has filtered through now and resides with the ministry of home affairs. We need a full blown plan by the UPND to be issued by the SG of party immediately after the funeral/burial so that we know how we are going to approach this by-election. The people are eagerly waiting to usher you in Mr President. Your time has come Sir! Put right the wrongs suffered by so many due to experimental manner in which the current government has ruled the country. We are the key stakeholders of this country and therefore demand and indeed deserve open communication and transparency from our leaders. Give us a realistic roadmap to the new constitution.

    • Just go and vote for your lunatics. We know you are used to voting for mediocre people. Not HH blah, blah as if you have ever done anything sensible or worthwhile in your lifetime. I will vote for HH and walk home with my head high, lose or win.

    • Whoever emerges from PF as presidential candidate will just be as use.less as the PF itself. PF is Sata. Even the late president SATA (MHSRIEP) mentioned that all PF ministers and PF MP’s are use.less. Thats why they hated him even though they pretended to love him, all because of jobs. Today they are busy fighting for positions even before the bury him, a sign that they never loved the man.
HH is giving you good advice and some of you are calling him names. Hate him or love him, but HH is the only presidential material of all the presidential hopefuls in PF and in the opposition. May Zambians know how to vote with their heads and not their hearts. By the way GBM ia likely to be the next PF president. Lungu has no support. If you vote PF, expect gbm to be your next president. I end here.

  2. I don’t like this feeling but i mighty just vote for HH because seriously it would be unwise to give the Presidency to characters like Lungu etc. Theres absolutely nothing, zero, zilch that Lungu has done to society to be considered a front runner. Even the so much despised Kabimba has a better track record than Lungu. Unless PF comes up with a sensible candidate my vote is on HH. The only problem with HH is after the so called mourning period he will straight away to and camp in one of his strongholds instead of going where they hadly know.

    • So you know the truth. HH will go cattle herding soon. Actually, if Hakainde had been wise enough to accept Satas’ offer of him being vice president — there would be no tension nor uncertainties in presidency. He chose to refuse and am sure he regrets that refusal. HH should seriously look North and towards Muchinga if he seriously wants to rule Zambia. The wind of independence came from there and history cant be changed.

    • @Msana Wanzili

You are right. This is a great opportunity for HH to paint all towns red with his name. People are looking for real change but HH’s problem is fearing to tread where eagles dare. He should have been camping in Muchinga, North, Luapula and CB, Central and East. His formula of campaigning heavily in areas he already has in his armpits will cost him again the presidency.

    • I agree with you on the last sentence 200%!! That has been the problem with UPND …. sticking to there strong holds. .. Please ba UPND go to Muchinga, CB, Luapula and Nothern otherwise we will see another riff raff in state house!!

    • My brother just advise strategies HH should employ where you are. This should include some data that can help score a point. For example when talking about wastefulness of govt resources and stanility of govt offices , may give office of DC. How many DC have occupied the office from 2011. If its five you calculate the settling allowance at K24 000. 00 multiply by five. Its K120 000:00 spent on one office to settle cadres. Many more examples. Otherwise your choice is right.

  3. For sure !!. The generation of old is gone and we need civilised politics.
Welcome Mr HH and we hope for the Best for you and OUR ZAMBIA …..Ths country is great !!!.
    Viva Zambia !!!

    • To you young people!

We your parents, have made our money and lived happy lives (and we did not all do it from government tenders, corruption or privatisations…ha ha ha). We worked hard, invested wisely and let’s be honest in our youthful days we had a lot of opportunities.

Youths, this is your time. The future is yours. Make decisions that will give you a hope of what we had. And I wish you more glorious days than we your parents ever saw. You deserve it!!

    • my President HH you have our votes , Mum, wife , sister, brother and all my family ( 30 votes from my family) I don’t want to waste my vote like in 2011. ok I didn’t waste it because ali tu chita don’t kubabe.Ma bemba ki masholi . hope my lozi is accurate !!!!

  4. Dear HH, your time has come. It is now or never. Otherwise, we shall be absolved to consider you merely a jihadist and not a true politician. There are simply too many ruffians now masquerading as presidential material when they are only accidental material. They just happen to find themselves at the scene of the accident, that’s all.

    • @ Mei Matungu…….. lol. “ruffians now masquareding as presidential material……. just happen to find themselves as the scene of the accident”. Buti…. 😀

    • Are u Jesus? Just because you have labeled HH a Masonite does not make him one. God n his son Jesus Christ know that very well. You may have convinced few Zambians into believing that, but mind you, not everyone is as gullible as you think.

I am not partisan. As a Zambian my heart bleeds to see the Zambian economy being ravaged as it has been in the past recent years, where a lot of money is in very few hands while majority of the people are wallowing in abject poverty. This is insane, lets put a stop to it. Zambia needs an economic savior right now for the benefit of its nationals at large and that savior might just be HH given his background.

We should sometimes try to think beyond tribe for the betterment of our mother Zambia. Lets practice true democracy.

    • What about 10 Commandments ftj?
On the same shelf with trust, decency, honesty, monogamy, accountability, inclusiveness, rule of law, freedoms…?
I hope, that who ever is your God, will show you light of truth.

    • Ftj you are fighting a loosing battle .Zambians don’t buy your tribal sentiments which were inshrined by Membe and his sanists.HH is the man of the moment.Who can listen to membe calling HH are tribalist when he did not say a thing about tribe. It was mwanajiti who said that and he was removed in UPND.HH is far capable than you can imagine. If you want to know who HH is go and read what Sata wrote about HH’s riches and who he is you can fear how humble and yet how big the guy is.Let him help Zambia to grow rich .He started his business empire form scratch using his knowledge as business manager and Economist. This country needs HH ta 52yrs and retire at 62yrs what a better age.

    • U speak like somebody who is above 90yrs with retarded mind. Traditional voting now is not needed, u might harm the country’s future econom. Truly, we don’t have a presidential material in Zam now but pf can do more harm to country’s economy if voted back. So bare in mind that those that run for presidency are Devils. They cheat, lie kill, bribe, corrupt, etc. And this is not godliness. U cant be a president minus cheating which devilish. Think wise I know Uhav run out of choice bcz of the death of the president but don’t deny your country.

  5. It’s always good to dream. Those who don’t think beyond what they perceive always make mistakes.

HH can’t make a good president because he thinks more about his tribe more than he think about Zambia as one.

Any leader who doesn’t think about Zambia as one he/she deserves no vote from me and all thinking persons of Zambia.

    • 100% brother,HH can’t win election maybe in Solwezi &Southern only ,C/belt will give him 10% of Votes,Lsk will give him 15% votes, Northern will give him 9% votes,Luapula will give him 5% votes, muchinga will give him 8%, history tells me& u ,so if you look at this analysis it tells us that HH cant win at all .

    • @ Nkumbabukata
You folks who are so stuck up with tribalism in your PF will never change. Anderson Mazoka stood in 2001 and would have beaten MMD a two-fold but the Northern tribes of Luapula and Kasama rejected him. Hakainde rose to the UPND presidency and now your likes still harp on the discredited song of UPND tribalism. I would believe you shit if you talked about the blatant favoritism for the Northern tribes exhibited by your PF since they came to power 3 years ago. All strategic positions went to their people. I care very little about this thing called tribe because it has no genetic basis. But quite frankly you folks amaze me with your lies about other tribes being tribal when you at the same refuse to see the obvious tribalism practiced by the PF since their rise. This is sick!

  6. A true leader preaches peace and love. We never heard anyone from PF condemn their charlatan cadres violence, in fact, PF embraces violence.
HH, good preaching about peace, not only at the late,MHSRIP, Michael Sata, but always.

  7. Hell on earth 14 days national. Morning is the cause of all tension. National mourning shld be 3/4 days and funeral left to family. We appreciate we r Africans but we need to evolve and get smart.

  8. iwe hh, you are rilly a snake, today you can say respect sata?????? you never respected the big man when he was alive. you hypoclite!!!!! by the way, in what capacity are you issuing warnings, and who are you warning anyway???? you must have been day dreaming when you issued the warning. please leave us to mourn our great leader. dont vomit your violence terms any how. the good thing is we know you. you did not want to be vice president thats why you broke the pact. you are very selfish man full of hatrate. zambians open your eyes ,dont be decieved by this by man.

    • @fact man….. stop throwing stones. Have you not heard of the PF ministers who are whispering with glee about the illness and consequently the death. Have you not been reading the online papers?? It was discovered that it within the PF that people were wishing the late ill. Wake up and face life for what it really is. “Your worst enemy could be your best friend your best friend your worst enemy” . The Bembas would say “Ichikupempula echikulya”

  9. HH u r the man, UK, USA, GERMANY don’t. Recycle politicians. Be progressive than being stuck with the failed leaders coz u r not courageous to move on. Sata’s death was God’s timely intervention to a stuck national, now that we r delivered fix not your eye on Egypt but Israel Kaunda promised.

  10. Presidential candidate for UPND…… wapya munzi. You came out third in the last elections…. am very excited and nervous for what awaits Zambia come Jan. 26, 2015. I don’t need to advise you as you know already what you have to do. Keep up the spirit whilst me and mine shall cast our vote of confidence…. Even from far am exercising my influence on my next of kin and so far it is promising. Don’t let us down.

  11. I say forget the political mudslinging happening in the PF; Rather I would urge eligible voters to look forward at the national leadership. Our ‘Bemba’ grouping folks must do right by the country and look beyond ‘tribe’ and this time vote for someone who is capable of steering this country from it’s current squalor. Looking at the current competition, I would say Miyanda, Saki or HH. Miyanda or Saki both don’t have a national appeal as they are probably too ‘intelligent’ for an average voter. Nevers Mumba and his MMD just messed up the country not so long time ago.

I’m no fun of Hakainde myself – I doubt he has any meaningful vision for the country and I never warmed up to him ever since he unceremoniously and undemocratically kicked out Saki from the party.

    • continued…However, he is the better ‘dev!l’ at the moment. He has managed to lead UPND with some consistency level of integrity, with less controversy and fanfare that have become synonymous with the others. Whether or not he could be a better leader for the country is unknown since he has never held any formal political office. But Zambians will just have to take a gamble on him. I would like to know his public stand on the Barotse impasse, among other controversial issues.

Thus I reluctantly endorse HH in these elections. Would love to see who our ‘newspapers’ endorse.

    • Leave demm Bembas alone. Fact is you need them , maybe more than they need you. You have already said it. Miyanda. Saki and HH are not good material. Your reluctant endorsement is slippery. Its true the political scene is lacking reasonable and sane material. Should start getting ready to join the race now !!!

  12. Mr. Hakainde Hichilema:

I greatly appreciate the leadership quality you’re displaying at this critical moment.
This is Zambia’s pride: whenever we’re faced with a national difficulty, or when we are celebrating (e.g., the Africa Cup achievement 2012), political affiliations vanish. We always stand as one.

Being a nation with a huge ethnic diversity—72 tribes, it may seem like a mammoth task regarding the maintenance of peace and security (and indeed it is); however, in this country, that is the big blessing we have.
Some countries with just a few tribes have found themselves in horrible situations; as a result, they have stressed inhabitants of the whole planet—who are subjected to unbecoming images on their TV sets and computer screens (unless you’re insensitive).

    • And if we sustain this Zambian spirit (to stand as one), the Lord will honour our efforts and begin to bless us with global influence—I’m already seeing very good signs.

Once again Mr. Hichilema, thank you sir.

      God bless you all.

  13. Time for Zambians to put pride, hatred and prejudice aside and vote purely on merit for a level headed person to take Zambia forward.

    HH fits that bill.

  14. HH is and should be the next president. I invite you read the article on ZWD where Sata’s document on HH’s wealth, and who is HH?

You will see that HH will is a big fish, I mean he is already rich, all he needs is power to assist the poor and put the Zambia in the global map. The catholic father wrote that Sata was the last Jubilee leader of the old generation and indeed we need a new era. HH is just 52 years, so just one year younger than Barak Obama. I rest my case

We need a youth leader not these old folks they have gone with the jubilee…Amen

  15. Fellow citizens, let us do what is good for our country. We need a president who will embrace every Zambian. We should no longer experiment. Let us choose a president who when he appears on TV anywhere in the world, he will make us proud both by his appearance and competence.
No more shallow minded individuals who go in just to enrich themselves and their families. The world has moved on and people elsewhere are looking at developing and bettering lies of their citizens. Let us not remain behind as Zambians because of our narrow mindedness and selfishness.
May God bless the Republic of Zambia

  16. Zambia should not be a Christian nation. It is to our own mockery that a Religion brought on to us through colonialism and immoral practices and a Religion that is bigoted and promotes slavery is our heart and soul. Wake up people, we need to know that affairs of the church need to be separate ffromany circular Government, not all who live in Zambia are Christian and I oppose any Religion to be named as the state’s Religion. I also have no confidence in our Politicians to change the face of Zambia. There are so many complicated issues to run a Government for anyone to make real change but we have a country to run. Right now I can’t imagine Wife abuser GBM to be president or pompous Wynter Kabimba who lied to the nation repeatedly about health of Mr Sata. HH for now than Old MMD Mumba.

    • fusaakee Francis Banda we dondishiwe.we are for Christ Jesus and no turning back.to hell you HH FREEMASON AND ALL IS FOLLOWERS

  17. FTJ get over it its about Tongas anymore Zambians from all walks of life have chosen HH.Remain nabu fontini bobe.Me iam partly Bemba and Kaonde but have decided to vote HH.If sata who we thought was experienced made constitutional flaws un like Chiluba who never held any government position made less of such.VIVA HH .I can hear the drums of victory from keleni hills at the source of Zambezi doen to the plains of barosteland.from the Mbala high lands down to the mighty Musio tunya .from the shows of Tanganyika to the shows of lake Kariba.Economic indepence has come with HH a fortune maker.zambia will now be a land of honey and milk.

    • ME AM NOT BEMBA,I CAN T VOTE FOR A NON CHRISTIAN LIKE HH.HH HATES JESUS THATS WHY HE ORDERED HIS FOLLOWERS TO DRESS IN BLACK DURING THE 50TH INDEPENDENCY ANNIVERSARY.FREEMASOHH VERY EVIL

  18. Zambia needs a fresh, young and brilliant mind for president. HH is the answer. We can count on him for economic prosperity and dynamic leadership. Otherwise, Zambia may never catch-up with the rest of the world.

  19. The Presidency has really been ‘cheapened’ during PF rule. The aura of authority of the position is no more. It needs to be resurrected. You need a firm but fair leader who stands by his/her principles. One who leads and implements in accordance with what the political economy of the Party’s manifesto states. Can anyone in this time and age see this in the likes of GBM, Kabimba, Mulenga Sata or Lungu? These so-called politicians and the PF need to be consigned to the dustbin of history – never to rear their ugly heads again!

    • @sos …. illiterate voters where exaactly? If the 90 days fake promises can not deter the so called illiterates than I don’t know what can. The price of mealie meal has trebled….. thanks to the Panga Family. The illiterates have to wake up to the fact that the price of their staple meal has been tampered with. Tribalism abash…..the list is endless… so people have to look at hard facts i.e. mealie meal not tribe.

  20. This is brilliant development that brings hope to Zambia by finally realizing that the nation needs young leadership, intelligent and humble to serve Zambia and deliver on good governance, rule of law, accountability and transparency. HH represents young and promising leader of Zambia today.

  21. Nevers Mumba is my 1st coice but HH also fits well far ahead of any PF foxes of candidates that have so far ruined Zambia.

  22. When change comes, it’s unstoppable. Zambians let’s not make another mistake this time, let’s vote wisely. It’s HH all the way

  23. THIS IS STALE NEWS. EVERY PERSON HAS ALREADY TALKED ABOUT THIS THEN, BECAUSE HH FEELS THAT HE IS BEING IGNORED AND NOT IN THE LIME LIGHT, HE PRETENDS TO BE THE ONE MOURNING THE MOST.

AWE MUKWAI, BA HH, NIMWE WAIKILILE UKUTUKA BA KATEKA KASUBA KONSE.
, ati ‘UKWA’ and ‘CHIMBWI NO PLAN’. THIS WILL HAUNT YOU IN THIS BY-ELECTION.

PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY SEEN THAT YOU DON’T HAVE A HEART FOR ZAMBIA. HOW COULD YOU BOYCOTT THE INDEPENDENCE CELEBRATIONS. YOU IMAGE BUILDERS ARE USELESS AND DO NOT ADVISE YOU PROPERLY.

  24. HH was feeding the poor and comforting mourners in Jubilee day. Did anyone in PF think about that? It’s HH all the way he is unstoppable.

  25. LET THE BEMBAS NOT VOTE ON TRIBAL LINES AS PF HAS NO ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES TO MOVE ZAMBIA FORWARD.
THIS TIME LETS US TRY HH.WE NEED TO BE PROUD OF OUR LEADERS NOT THESE PF IS PUTTING FORWARD.

  26. Pf are a shameless liars. Imagine lying to the Zambians that the president was well & discharging his duties at statehouse to point of death. Pf does not deserve a second chance. They are very dishonesty & no integraty. I guess Zambia deserves better!

  27. my dear country men and women iam happy for a moment that only hard core tribalists are still doughting who the next president should be hh is the next president going by what he has proved to the nation and world at large for the moment compared to the useless liars that sata left in confusion after all they didnt love him going even by what they are showing us without pretending let sata go with his party of tribalists you cant convince people today that you can do better than sata liars good bye may god bless zambia as he loves them hh for now. sure even the son the dog seller can join the race before his father is put to rest shameless lairs

  28. its hh for now,we need complete overhaul of pf systems.hh will continue where sata has ended afterall these projects are funded by govt not pf.so no one should think that these projects will stale if pf is voted out. Zambians should sent a very strong message to pf and other political parties that they should not take Zambians for granted.pf was sata and vice versa, otherwz in the absence of sata there is no pf left.vote hh,zambia forward.

  29. Give it a fresh start. Elect HH for president in 2015. Send PF back to school. They are too uneducated to lead a modern nation in the 21st Century.

    • For me and my household HH never. His party stated just after Mazokaz death that UPND was for Tonga… so why should I a none Tonga vote for him. Moreover this party looks down on the unlearned and poor who are the majority voters. I can vote for anyone even Milupi but Never a Tonga

  30. HH for for economic freedom & empowerment. The man has proved that he is able even at personal level. KK did it for colonial independence. Now HH will do it for economic independence. From KK to HH!
