Zesco United on Monday unveiled Kenyan defender David Odhiambo after he signed a two-year contract with the FAZ Super League champions.
Odhiambo joins Zesco from his native club Gor Mahia.
“Zesco United has officially signed a two year contract with Kenyan defender David Odhiambo from Gor Mahia,” the club confirmed on Monday.
Odhiambo is part of the three foreign players Zesco has signed for the 2015 season who includes the Nigerian duo of striker Christopher Chigozie and defender Ayo Oluwafemi.
Chigozie moves to Zesco from Nigerian side Bayelsa United while Oluwafemi was a free agent after leaving South Africa club University of Pretoria.
Meanwhile, Zesco has started talks with Mamelodi Sundowns over the possibility of extending the loan deal for Togolese defender Mathias Emmmanuel.
Emmanuel spent the 2014 season on loan at Zesco.
The Ndola side is preparing to compete in the 2015 CAF Champions League.
Good signings, a sign that Zambian football is moving in the right direction.

This good. We need foreign based players to play for Zambian clubs so they transfer their skills to Zambian soccer. Good move Zesco. It’s also for Zesco’s benefit. An example is Tout Puissant Mazembe of DRC.
This is very sad. It is a sign that Zambianfootball cannot produce its own players. If our clubs are attracting players from countries (not kenya) that have great soccer pedigree then I would consider it as positive. Youth football, inter schools competitions, reserve teams and nursaries all disappeared after privatization. Football pitches in schools have used as plots to build teachers’ houses, play parks have been sold for residential houses. Ala bane ine ni nsakamana!!!
Worry not. This is good for Zed football. Next time Brazilians will be coming to join Zesco or Nkana.

for the pas t 50 plus years Zambia never had foreigners in the Zambian clubs, what achievements has Zambian football achieved apart from that fluke afcon in 2012 assisted by the 23 Ghosts of the coast of Gabon? Smxm.

It’s good news it means foreign plays are now interested in our nation league and this can help our teams on continental cup therefore exposing our players to competitive football on the continent .
