Govt to grab undeveloped land

The ministry of Lands has completed a land audit in Lusaka.

Lands minister, Ronald Mukuma, says notices will be given to owners of undeveloped land informing them of the repossesion.

Mr. Mukuma says the exercise to reposes unfinished buildings will be done in March this year.

And Mr. Mukuma also says his ministry will soon lift the ban on Mkushi district council as an agent for the ministry of lands.

Mr. Mukuma says he is happy with the report on the performance of Mkushi district.

The minister however says he is still looking at Lusaka and Solwezi before their status as land agents can be restored.

Lusaka, Solwezi and Mkushi were banned as agents for land on behalf of the ministry of lands.

Mr. Mukuma says Lusaka district council is still under evaluation while Solwezi district council needs to recruit exprienced people.

  1. Please make sure it is redistributed fairly. Do not share it amongst yourselvs!!!! Or else you will end up in jail like… madam sorry Rev G

  2. Caution to Mr Ronald Mukoma, land is a very sensitive issue worldwide. If you are not careful pa kafulo ako, you will end up like Rev. G. N yirongo.
Is it true that Gladys is not in jail? or should we dismiss this as cheap kachepa?

  3. Dont give it to mmd cadres, who owns the structure at the junction of katondo & freedom way.mezaf a long lumumba & kafue road turn them to viable structures like one at kabwe roundabout. In compound & grave yards will be disasters for cadres.

  4. thats our mentality…distributing land!my brothers ,we will never develop until we realise that there is no such thing as a free lunch..work hard to acquire land. full stop.

  5. pliz thoz unfinished buildings in the town center shud be reposesed. Thoz structures have been there for over a decade and they are tanishing the image of our city. Reposess the land, and only allow moderm buildings to be build on that land, not thoz junkies in Kamwala. Lets be modern.

  6. Bushe ninshi bena business yabo kula pokafye ifintu ku bantu? When government fails to develop their projects nobody goes to reposes the projects from them , but why should they get undeveloped land from the impoverished Zambians?
Governmnet keeps on giving excuses why they can not do things because of the effects of the global credit cruch, what more umuntu fye? Ma decisions ya chabechabe ayo!

    • Xtramature, you are very right. While it may sound like a good thing to do on the part of the Ministry, it has a lot of unanswered question such as:
      1. What is making people not to complete buildings on time; others could have been retrenched thus do not have any steady flow of income;
      2. In a case as above, is government willing to provide loans that have a low interest rate to enable pipo finish building

  7. They should start with commercial land, some parts of Ndola town centre are an eyesore, they’ve never been developed by the owners for years, people urinate & defecate at the sites like there are no laws in the country.

    3. Is this exercise just aimed at having people from the Ministry acquire more land in addition to what they already have?
