THE Zambia Police says it has received a petition to investigate treason allegations levelled against former Radio Icengelo station manager, Father Frank Bwalya.
Inspector-General of Police, Francis Kabonde said in an interview yesterday that he had received the petition from a Ndola farmer, William Wilima, and that police have instituted investigations.
Mr Kabonde said the police would thoroughly investigate the matter involving Fr Bwalya.
On Tuesday, Mr Wilima petitioned Mr Kabonde to investigate and prosecute Fr Bwalya for alleged treason.
Fr Bwalya has in the past weeks been using Radio Icengelo to promote his movement called ‘Change or Die Zambia.’
The clergy has since been removed as station manager for the radio station and transferred to Ipusukilo Catholic Church as parish priest.
However, Fr Bwalya has since asked for sabbatical for one year which the parish has granted him.
And Mr Kabonde has advised members of the public to observe the law of the land even if Zambia is a democratic nation.
He said each country had rules which governed it and that it was important for citizens to obey them.
“There are proper procedures or channels to be followed for any individual who has been injured,” he said.
Mr Kabonde said no one was above the law and that the police would ensure that law and order was maintained across the country.
“It is the duty of the Zambia Police to see to it that citizens are protected and that the law is observed,” he said.

When MMD youths from Ndola publicly told Fr Bwalya that they will make sure that he sees red, Mr Kabonde or whatever his names is, said that is no case because whoever is threatening to kill you cannot kill. So the Police cannot do anything. Police double standards, so unprofessional. They behave worse than cadres because they entertain cadres. Pathetic!!!!!!

Only if the opposition is doing something does it become a good thing. A petition is a petition. Anybody can petition for anything. That’s why we have pressure groups. Let the farmer petition all he wants. The effective petition is that which will yield results.

Does this farmer have something constructive to do or there is just no good harvest this year and you resort to useless petition try to kill time or something? Zambians you never cease to amaze me. Now we have have Farmers who should be busy cultivating their farms instead they join in these circus its unfortunate at the expense of farming and when the fail to get something meaning from their fields they complain and yet they spend time petitioning somethings they dont even understand. And this Kabonde guy is a serious bootlicker of RB the man will do anything even if it means praise and worshiping RB just to be seen that he is working but the question is for who Zambians or RB? Ba kabonde, kindly file that petition in file 13(the bin). We cannot afford talking about cases that you will fail to prosecute. This is a useless petition by Wiliam Wilima and others. Why should this makaka wait for the farmer to tell him to investigate what ever this Priest committed when in actual all this was done openly and even uyu makaka heard it all.
