Political analyst, Dante Saunders called on government to completely change the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to instill confidence in the electorates who continued to shun participating in elections.
Mr Dante observed that the current abnormal political situation in Zambia is responsible for the low voter turn out in the Chifubu and Luena by-elections.
He said that there is need to stream line the work of the ECZ whose credibility Zambians have continued to question.

Mr Saunders said that it is vital for government to allow a complete change of the ECZ.

Mr. Saunders also explained that government should be able to allow the participation of the opposition in the ECZ.
He said as long as government does not agree to allow the ECZ to be changed, the current voter apathy will remain.
The political analyst also noted that failure to address this situation now, the ECZ is bound to experience worse apathy next year when the country goes to the tripartite polls.

Dante (or is it Ndate), your analysis is erroneous. Who told you that voter apathy is due to lack of confidence in the ECZ? ECZ The problem is politicians (especially the opposition including yourself) who have no agenda. They have told so many untruths to our people, they have made the nation look so hopeless, they have created so much hatred in the nation, that our people do not know which way to go. They are totally confused as to whom to listen to, and the result is apathy.
If you go on the streets of Zambia today, the common man simply parrots whatever things Sata and HH said in the Post, even downright lies. Unfortunately most cannot analyse things for themselves, and tend to listen to anything that unscrupulous politicians tell them. When you explain the truth to them, the people are amazed that after all there is a much brighter side to their country than the dark that they have been fed on. I have done it myself and almoost invariably the response I get is like “We didn’t know that, please tell us more”, ‘You mean opposition leaders can tell lies too like the government?”, or “Is that what the government is doing for the country?”
It seems in Zambia we do not have a true opposition, but what you can call “Prophets of Darkness”. The more darkness they can paint Zambia in, the more negatives that they can preach to the people, the more lies they can tell, the more headlines they can make in the Post, the more gloom they can tell the people, never mind the damage to citizens’ mindsets, the better the chances of entering State House, or so they believe.
Let’s hope opposition parties like ADD and that Chipimo outfit can bring some fresh air into our politics, otherwise we are doomed as a nation if we can have politicians who want to destroy everything, destroy every moral fabric in our society as long as the prize is State House.

What really should change in ECZ? Give us what changes you want in ECZ. Should we employ ba chitawala because they seem to be a are trusted group of Christians?

Good point Dongo, this analysis does not give recommendations about what should change in ECZ, is it their capabiliteis and resources- Notice how he notes that those ‘changes’ will help the MMD? hahaha Good one< but in what ways will it help the MMD unless those changes are biased?
