PF MPs blast Sata

Share

Patriotic front cadres bolt for dear life after police fire tear gas at the unruly crowd outside the Drug Enforcement Commission offices in Lusaka

Patriotic Front (PF) members of Parliament have condemned their president Michael Sata for ferrying cadres to the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) offices where they fought running battles with the police.

And UNIP secretary general Jemima Banda has said Mr Sata is a failed politician who has outlived his usefulness and now wants to use the Barotse Agreement to get votes from the people of Western Province.

Speaking in separate interviews in Lusaka yesterday, Mwense (MP) Jacob Chongo, his Luapula and Kawambwa counterparts Peter Machungwa and Elizabeth Chitika respectively, said that it was wrong for Mr Sata to ferry cadres when he was appearing for a personal issue.

Mr Chongo said when an investigative wing calls a political leader, such a leader should realise they were called in their individual capacity and not as a political entity.

“Whenever a political leader is called by the investigative wing in his individual capacity, he should avoid ferrying cadres. Nobody is stating that Mr Sata has done anything wrong, they want a clarification. Why carry the cadres when it’s a personal matter?” Mr Chongo said.

He said there was no need for cadres to accompany or be ferried to DEC offices, as the issue of the US$100,000 was not a PF matter but a personal issue involving Mr Sata.

Mr Chongo said he feared what kind of state Mr Sata would run if elected president considering that he was exhibiting violent traits.

“He is not in power but what more if he has instruments of power, we need to see more of these so that the Zambians know the kind of leader that the PF president is,” Mr Chongo said.
Ms Chitika said it was wrong for a political leader to involve a political party in personal matters, noting that the issue of the US$100,000 was Mr Sata’s personal issue and, therefore, should not involve the PF.

“The point is that what is happening now is not a party issue. It is something personal and what is important is for Mr Sata to go there in his individual capacity and not to involve the party,” Ms Chitika said.

She said if lives had been lost, Mr Sata would have been to blame. Ms Chitika said that opposition leaders seeking political office should desist from engaging themselves in acts that could cause turmoil in the country.

Her Luapula counterpart, Dr Machungwa said leaders aspiring to lead the nation such as Mr Sata should not undermine law enforcement agencies as doing so would compel them to respond with firmness like what happened on Thursday.

Dr Machungwa said DEC and other security wings are meant to protect every citizen and as such when politicians dare them, Zambia would lose law and order.

“Those aspiring to be national leaders should leave the security wings to operate smoothly because if they intimidate them, they will react with firmness. Political leaders should, therefore, educate their cadres to respect law enforcement agencies and their work,” Dr Machungwa who is the spokesperson of the PF rebel MPs said.

He said Zambians should ensure that they defended the peace they had continued enjoying since independence. The MP said it would not help for people to take the law into their own hands.

Meanwhile, UNIP secretary general Jemima Banda has said Mr Sata is a failed politician who has outlived his usefulness and now wants to use the Barotse Agreement to get votes from the people of Western Province.

Mrs Banda said Mr Sata was becoming so desperate for power that he was trying to use anything to get to State House and that his recent talk on the Barotse Agreement was just one of his populist statements that Zambians should ignore with the contempt it deserved.

Mrs Banda said in an interview yesterday that it was sad that the PF leader was always trying to use divisive ways of getting into leadership, instead of proving to the Zambians that he was a quality leader who was ripe to rule the country by articulating issues of national unity and development.

Mrs Banda said she could not continue to support the wrong things that some opposition colleagues were doing because he was patriotic, mature and objective politician.

She said UNIP would continue to be objective and mature by giving credit where it was due, instead of being perpetual critics of the Government.

“When the Government does something good, we should give credit where it is due, but if it does something wrong, we should provide solutions to where the Government has gone wrong, instead of insulting it in the media. As UNIP, we shall maintain our objectivity and we will not support anything rubbish just because we are from the opposition,” she said.

“I strongly believe the MMD is the only party at present which could deliver to the people of Zambia, hence I am cautioning Zambians not to be excited with calls for change of Government.

  1. Dr Peter Machungwa is a hypocrite. Why doesn’t he talk about Chiluba’s $8m which the former president himself admits did not cme from very legit sources? You LT carried a story quoting Chiluba on the same in September last year. RB remember the simple rule DITO DITA. Do it to one Do it to all.

  2. These are disgarced and hired MPs who are nit ashamed of arrogance… . RB moves around with Party Cadres, who sometimes cause violence, Issue Death Threats in the presence of the Police. Why dont they condemn such stupidity if they mean well.

  3. These are disgraced and hired MPs who are nit ashamed of arrogance… . RB moves around with Party Cadres, who sometimes cause violence, Issue Death Threats in the presence of the Police. Why dont they condemn such stupidity if they mean well.

  4. These are indeed hired MPs, when people where hacking each other in Mufumbwe they remained quite , Their Boss Dr Chiluba has failed to explain where he got $8million they have not said anything it would appear they have been hired to fix Sata.

  5. I remember one night when I was at UNZA in the 90s,the Paras(paramilitary) came and were firing teargas at students. We all scampered and took cover but a canister fell right in the path of one of the guys.As students fled to the Ruins this guy started screaming. His friends said hey go into the showers. Then the guy started screaming from the showers that it wasn’t working. At this his friend shouted – st.upid turn on the water!

  6. @Teargas Zambia needs people like u who think with their brains not those who think with their stomachs or private parts like dora siliya.

  7. @9..well said, the heading is missleading,Plez ba LT,these chaps have been expelled.are you telling me even after 2011,U will stil quote these chaps as PF….even the chi mumbi is expelled, dont link these chaps to PF

  8. Sata is one stu.pid coward, why the hell did he need to go with kaponyas. Im happy they smoked him with tear gas. fool.lish brainless old man, like doing wrong things but cant face the law

  9. She says vote for a party she is not part of and thinks people will trust her in future to speak on their behalf.
The people lost their votes the day she wanted to be in MMD.

Resign and leave the party you are part of.
You are not called a rebel M.P for nothing.
Nobody wants you to sell their voice until the next election as you have already chosen to follow what your opposition party wants you to do.
Rebel P.F money grabbers until 2011 are just MMD votes unless some morals hit them.

  10. going by the happenings in politics, PF shall win next year’s elections by 58% (lusaka,c/belt, luapula, northern, central and part of Western provinces ) mmd shall come second with 35% upnd third with 12% and the rest 5%.

  11. Just ask yourselves, who are these front role MP’s?its obviously those outcasts Peter Machungwa,Elizabeth Chitika and their gangbungers. But if you look at Machingwa, why is he even open his mouth if he kept quiet on Chiluba’s $8 million? and the case has died a silent death just like that. This is not abut which political kantemba you’re affiliated to,but about justice.DEC be JUST act professionally and don’t take sides.

  12. #11 & 13 – Machungwa & company are still PF MPs with full rights to perform MP functions just like Mpombo is MMD MP despite his support for Sata & PF untill the court says so, they are still your MPs. Think people.

  13. Ba Manchungwa & Co. leave this mad man alone and his party of madness. Leave him and stand on MMD. The sooner you do so the better so that you will be speaking from solid ground. The way it is now is like a woman who disgraces and back bites her husbund but does not want divorce(because she knows she has no where to go).

  14. There is nothing tgo listen to from the rebel MPs. Sata is a politician and enjoying popular support in urban areas so whats wrong with being accompanied by his loeal supporters? Its the way the investigations were carried out. Mumbi being the complainant is supposed to slapped with a charge of obtaining banking details on sata’s private account. The police should not acting without advising those giving them wrong instructions sort out political opponets to continue being in power. Political power a democratic set up like ours rotates from one party to another. If voters say we want change and MMD out then that is good or they say PF in then its good.

  15. Sir G @ 14 you have rightly told off Mashimba. When has he ever stood up for the people of Zambia against the powers that be? There is no justification for the police to have teargased the people at DEC! These people were peaceful and whoever was in command of the police at DEC could have just adressed the people that they can wait outside for their leader who will just give a statement. Ofcourse PF members believe the government is looking for an excuse to lock up MC Sata. Using the police to teargas them, so as to intimidate them is a very poor strategy, which makes the people judge the government as cruel. Some of those gased believe me or not are MMD intelligence officers, who mingle with PF cadres to learn about the activities of PF. So the police should curb their zeal.

  16. Look the people commenting. Expelled PF Former MP’s. They have been expelled but cling on to PF to cause confusion to benefit Ka Little Big thief FTJ a former Boy friend to Chitika. Atase….

The DEC published or made it public that they will be interviewing Mr. Sata. Thats wherer the mistake was. The DEC middle and Junior officers are PF. They knew by publising his summons the cadres were to regroup and show up. It’s ONLY top brass of DEC that toe MMD directives. No wonder the POLICE that day reacted by Giving PF cadres Canisters to Tear Gas senior DEC officers. The Police where reacting to being wrongly used in such a simple matter. Why Not summon Ka FTJ former boyfriend to Chitika for the $8m he claims is his but has failed to explain source.

  17. hehe…these useless expelled MPs, are they yaping for their dull master RB and the MMD-thieves?

Mmm ala nomba ni sebana wikute bane. They have lost all sense of shame.. hehe…Machungwa you are gone forever, never again to be an MP .. Chitika hehe…gone also coz MMD will never adopt you as well.

They have remained quiet on the $8 million the chief thief chiluba stole from Zambians , hee dull and s’stupidy expelled MPs.

Viva Sata, Sata will never be brought down guys, in fact you are uplifting his fame .

Go go Sata the great political teaser. Show them how polictics are played….

  18. The story is from His Master’s Voice. It is sooo one sided and is trying to feed us the propaganda that Sata not the PF is in the dock. But we know that Sata is only being harrassed because he leads the PF so we cant separate these issues. The f oolish reporter and editor pack the space with two anti-Sata stories. The MMD must be very desperate to launch such s t upid propaganda. Do Zambians but this Trash of Zambia newspaper?

  19. Infact next the mwami bazungus are provoked by the kaponyas, they should use Pellet guns instead of teargas.Teargas is for kids at UNZA.

  20. zambia i do not know where u are heading. we zambian outside are not happy on what we hear through the internet. That is not the sweat zedi we left. Do not allow power drunk fellows distroy our home. We have only one home and that is zambia.

  21. Her ladyship, you write as if you were there at the DEC offices. You demand of others to be analytical, irrational and sober-minded and yet you are one hell of a one sided analyst who believes Sata and the PF can do no wrong. I suggest you go back to your primary school teachers and demand for a refund because they didnt do a very good job

  22. 2morow HE MC Sata is reviewing the source of $100,000 to show leadership, so we expect FTJ also to tell us where he got $8m from.

  23. atase kanshi its those expelled MP’s ba LT once again your reporting is so bad. Whats wrong with you guys? is nt there any journalists ethics body or watchdog to monitor the quality of news some of these media houses are producing?

  24. Peter Machungwa Chikala chobe. Iwe KaChitika weule lyakwa Chiluba your brother has killed Mabenga’s daudgter just concentrate on preparing the defence.

  25. Fellow country men and women, distinguished guests, members of the press, if the opposition wont unite, we shall kiss liberation goodbye. I foresee a situation where our president shall reside in China, his deputy in India. Parliament shall convene at the chinese embassy for easy transmission of resolutions to china. Z?ngzh?, w?men huì xiàng zh?ngf?ng núlì.Lets unite for the common good by removing these plunderers. I tell u honestly those who dont support the opposition have either a relative or somebody in gonernment. They dont see the state of roads, hospitals, schools, quality of drinking water etc…..Lets unite, then after, when free, we can have the leisure of insulting each other

  26. #15 the problem we have in Zambia is that we like swallow analysis hinge our hopes on that. Surely Lusaka is for all the Three big parties( MMD,UPND and Pf). Lusaka as province has LUSAKA City, KAFUE, CHILANGA,LUANGWA,NFUWE, CHONGWE. Of all these Pf as at 2006/2008 General elections commended some popularity in Lusaka City only. Political pendulum of Lusaka is dymanic and changes every election year. In the rest of the area the party was third if not fourth. On Copperbelt Pf is considerably strong in urban area. In the periurban and rural Copeperbelt the stories is different. In Central Province PF does well in parts of Serenje, Kabwe urban, Kapiri urban. In Westren Province PF IS NON existance ans Sata will do better to get 1,000 votes.

  27. Can these hired guns say any better than this? Zambian Parliamentary position on these rebels is beyond my comprehension. Why can’t these chaps be cut away from the party on whose ticket they have been elected MPs?

  28. Whil’st deep into power, Chiluba snatched US$8M(?), and while just almost into power Sata pinches US$100,000! Whats the difference between the two? Dito Dita indeed, treet one as the other! The difference between them is exactly the same.

  29. The PF circus at it again. This party has no time to address development. The areas they hold are a disaster in trems of delivering promises. It will be worse if, god forbid, they control GRZ. This is what we will get, worse still the thieves and petty drug dealers in their midst will enter the mix. It will be stealing, infighting, misappropriation of funds at the forfront with development last.

  30. Hired thugs and minions whose time is busy running out and have no choice to seem as if there is a problem within PF and yet all is well. These guys are merceneries

  31. # 38 are you sure you are a prof. my man your reasoning is so narrow. Can i educate you if i may, Chiluba stole tax payer’s money. Sata did not steal that money so you cant compare the two scenarios

  32. These are stupid unwise empty political characterised elements who have no ground to stand on. Sata likewise was not wise. As a leader he should have ensured that no cadre accompanies him to DEC because that was a personal issue. It’s sad most of our leaders lack wisdom.

  33. BREAKING NEWS

The South African Government has petitioned GRZ to extradite Michael Sata to that country for money laundering over the US $27,000 confiscated at Oliver Tambo International Airport in 2005 still with the Government undeclared.

This time PF kaponyas can go to DEC in droves and dream their usual ways of violence but will meet detailed patriotism that will Taser them systematically including Sata. Journalists should go their and shoot a movie of entire PF including Sata rolling on the ground helplessly on Taser effect.

  34. #12
Ulekwatako umucinshi. Nga nibawiso twatuka like that kuti waumfwa shani? Am not saying you can’t criticise! I hope you are old coz if you are young you paint a very bad picture of the ‘future’ zambia. Can such uncultured youths take over leadership even from the Sata they cricise?

  35. Haven’t you wondered why PF has some considerable support in some of our unplanned settlement (shanty) compounds of Lusaka, Copperbelt, Kabwe and Kapiri. The reason is simple, most of these pipo migrated from rural parts of Northern province in search of better livelihood especially after privatisation. It is no wonderful the language in Lusaka is slowly changing from Nyanja to Bemba. So most of the pipo in rural areas of Northern and Luapula have shifted to Urban area leaving these areas sparsely populated compared to other provinces such as Eastern, Western, North Western, Sountern and parts of Central Provinces. What was the driving factor for such a migration? the factors are both social and economic. They can not afford to engage in meaningful farming apart from secondary

  36. Secondary blue collar jobs such as Kaponyas, Street Adult and young vending, ngwangwazi, marketeering to mention but a few. Now what the the characteristics of these pipo. They are in most cases preoccupied with talking too much, less action (e.g not even registered voters but can be making alot of noise that Sata is winning bakamba). Most of the times they are pre occupied with trying to find a means of survival hence no time to get NRC nor Voters Card.

What this means is that the supporters of Sata have a particular pattern and predictable characteristics which are so obvious hence can not warant him wining the presidency that he so desperately in need of. What is then the solution for PF. The solution lies in PF starting now to identying a leader who will be accepted by all in Zambia

  37. I agree with all what the PF MPs have stated, but just a correction Mrs Chitika. Yes it is a personal issue but so is the PF party itself. Mr Sata is PF and PF is Mr Sata, it is a personal party and all its leaders and followers are his personal property. Therefore if there is anything wanting regarding the $100,000 both Mr Sata and PF are also involved, including Mr Sata’s personal properties.

  38. stupid # 12 leave Sata alone, when stupid kafupi goes to court he is always surrounded by his bread crumbles pickers. the man (SATA of course) is a crowd puller, he need not ferry anybody, just like RB is a child puller as we saw when he went to thank the mpulungu elctorate.

  39. #52 I would have thought that you would not want to bring up Mpulungu again where you were trounced hands down. If Sata has any chance of winning the presidency, he should be winning in places like Mpulungu. Hiring thugs is certainly not going to make people vote pf in fact the opposite is more likely to happen.

  40. When will Zambians start saying NO to these hooligans we call politicians. What’s the point of going to fight with babuju, getting tear gased and possibly thrown behind bars when the ***** who took you there will probably jump in his GX and sleep peacefully in the comfort of his own home?

I know hunger bites and leads to insanity, but come on people! Wake up and start fighting the battles that are truly necessary. An idle mind is truly the devil’s workshop…

  41. THESE MPS MAY BE EXPELLED BUT THEY HAVE A POINT, THE MATER INVOLVED IS PERSONAL SCANDAL BY ONE MCS SATA, WHY INVOLVE CADERS, ZAMBIANS OPEN YOUR EYES SEE THIS COMFUSION IN PF PARTY EVRYDAY IS SCANDLE AFTER SCADLE, PF AND BA SATA NA PAPATA PLEASE TAKE A LEAF OF DESCENCE FROM YOUR PARTNERS IN UPND, LOOK AT THE WAY THEY ARE UNITED AND EVER BEHIND HH NO MATER HOW YOUR USELESS POST DIMEAN HH ,THEY ARE BEHIND HIM AND WE DONT HEAR THIS STUPIDITY FROM HH AND UPND.. WHATS WRONG KANSHI MWE FIKOPO!!!!!!
