PF popularity claims in Mkushi disputed

Share

The ruling MMD in Mkushi district in central Province has disputed claims attributed by opposition Patriotic Fronts (PF ) in the province that the opposition party was more popular in the district.

MMD Mkushi North Constituency Chairperson Emmanuel Mwansa said the statement issued in the post Newspaper published on May 3rd, 2011 are untrue and unfounded.

In the Post Newspaper story, PF Provincial Chairman Benson Chali is quoted as saying his party enjoyed widespread popularity in Mkushi district.

However, Mr. Mwansa said to the contrary the ruling MMD in Mkushi district was intact at all levels and has pledged support for President Rupiah Banda in this years’ tripartite polls.

Mr. Mwansa said the PF claims had no substance and that Mr. Chali had never successfully articulated the PF manifesto to convince Mkushi residents on why they maintained its solid shape in the district.

And MMD Mkushi District Youth Chairman Charles Chanda observed that the PF was panicking because of the many successes recorded not only in the district but across the nation by President Banda.

Mr. Chanda described the PF claims of popularity as wishful thinking because the PF was nervous of the developmental projects embarked on by the MMD Government.

He added that PF leader Michael Sata and the entire PF leadership were panicking and now opted to issuing false claims where-ever they are in a bid to build the image of the party.

  1. Im MMD but lets not dispute everything,we are going down.I’m a Mkushi resident and i know what im talking about.Idont know what is wrong with Zambian politicians, they even dispute the truth.Shameless uneducated old politicians,Lets work hard or you even lose my vote.FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. There goez the so called public but government controlled media house buzy fire fighting without first announcing the fire. I hope they have enough water to quench the many firez around.

  3. Just accept ba mmd, being intact Mr mwansa does not mean you have not lost out members from your party to the pf.

  4. Last time The Post projected that PF was gaining popularity in Mongu, and it has now switched to Mkushi. PF at work indeed. But we have to compare the apparent popularity of PF’s Inonge Wina versus MIlupi in Mongu. The readers can guess the reality on the ground. What is visibly clear is the BIG silence PF has maintained on its luck in Luapula. PF has resorted to mere speculations along the fringes of the battle fields by picking scattered straws in Mbala, Mongu and Mkushi.

  5. I am disappointed with LT. How can you asked a biased and interested party to state a popularity of one party or the other? Good journalism would have dictated that you ask an independent person or organization. But then this is Zambia, the real Africa. I am sure I am asking for too.

  6. That PF popularity nonsense has already been witnessed since 2006.They are not popular in the ballot box.People stop wasting your time with these hoodlums.

  7. Fellow Z pipo. Popularity does not mean winning an election. In the US there is what they call a POPULAR VOTE and polling vote. Charismatic persons like AL Gore got the popular vote but George “Who doesnt Bit about the” BUSH got the polling vote. Yes Sata is popular but that doesnt mean he is going to win. Came election day pipo will look at works not words.

  8. I agree with 12; popularity does not mean winning an election. Sata is very popular for insulting people including his own MPs. But this can not make him win elections because elections are a different ball game to say the least. In fact Sata will continue being popular even after this year’s elections because he will be insulting the loudest. So bane lets make a distinction between being popular and winning elections. But its sad that PF kaponyas are too dull to notice this. I end here!

  9. # 14 Peace Maker, a terrible name for a cadre! The PF has made an impact on the political landscape by giving the Zambians a very practical and beneficial MANIFESTO. That is how an alternative government behaves. Now, if RBish had his own ideas apart from finalising the projects started by late LPM, where are they? The SNDP is a hollow document with no definate policies for the common masses. Rbish is clinging to power for his own greedy and we will not allow him to continue, he has messed up the consitution making process with his sidekick George Kunda, they sold off ZAMTEL in cohorts with RP capital against our wish, shot and killed children in W.P., his sons have turned state house into a den of deals and scandals everyday. Continue calling us Kaponyas, we will vote for MCS!

  10. PF is using the typical UNIP style campaign strategy of claiming popularity even in areas wher they don’t exist. Next time they will even claim they are popular on the moon. Anyway, we are not surprise since the party is formed from a cocktail of UNIP era politicians plus MMD failures from the Chiluba era.

  11. Why dont MMD challenge the PF manifesto instead of worrying about popularity. This is making people think MMD is a dying party by being petty

  12. This is one problem we have  in Zambia, we assume too much. If you have 3 meals a day  don’t assume that nobody is walking around hungry. How do you tell if your membership is intact if you haven’t even tried to carry out a simple?. That is why many people are not blinded  by your  lies. You claim too much!, the economy is booming, while poverty levels are increasing. Mining sector is booming, unemployment in Copperbelt is around 80%, what are you talking about?. The reporters, please do your own research don’t really on political mumble jumble.

  13. Well,
If you look at the amount of economic activity taking place in the country that has nothing to do with which political party takes the day, the result is quite high. Which leads me to ask the question, what have the politicians done to make the revenues we make out of these services, translated into benefits for you and me?
Really when you look at the party manifestos, you have to come to a decision as to who will deliver these services to you, me and the rest of our Zambian brotherhood. If these guys are not up to the task, then by all means change them. But if they are, then keep them. Its all up to you in the end.

  14. i wonder wat the fate of the PF will b after they lose this years election… they have definitely undermined the relevance of certain provinces oon the political scene,ie, North western, western, central, eastern and southern province… ati donchi kubeba, awe kubeba fye…
