Solwezi hospital dismisses death claims

Authorities at Solwezi General Hospital in Northwestern Province have dismissed claims by members of the public that a patient died on the queue whilst waiting to be attended to by
medical personnel two days ago.

Hospital Medical Superintendent Brown Kandongo dismissed the allegations when Provincial Permanent Secretary Fabian Mumba paid a surprise visit to the health institution yesterday.

ZANIS reports that Dr. Kandongo said the claim was false and unfounded.

He explained that the hospital was working hard to provide quality medical services to the people despite being faced with a challenge of inadequate medical personnel.

He said the health institution had enough medicine in stock and assured people in the district of quality health service any time they visited the institution.

And Mr. Mumba said Government was committed to providing quality health care services to the public.

The Permanent Secretary said for this reason, Government was constructing four heath centers in Kizhingezhinge, Zambia, Mushitala and Zangamenu compounds in Solwezi district to help decongest the general hospital.

Mr Mumba said he was hopeful that when these health centers were completed, complaints of poor health care provision would reduce.

He said members of the general public would be properly attended to by health workers and would no longer spend long hours on queues at health institutions.

  1. Only those were there know the truth.

I once witnessed a young patient die in the hands of his parents because nurses barred the parents from accessing a Doctor at Kitwe Central Hospital one night in the 90s.

  2. I wonder whether thwese guys really do know what quality health care means? Having medicine does not mean that you’re providing quality health care. some of that medicines ends up being sold in private chemists. Solwezi General hospital is a death hospital. most people rarely survive there.

  3. its true this story is real i had my own car when my daughter was delivering a baby we took gal at 14:00 nurses very hard hearted couldnt make a decision untill 22:00 thats when they called me that the baby was too big hence they needed to operate her after the baby had died in the stomach. 15:00HRS the nurses said send her for scanning and the results confirmed the baby was fine and weighing 4.4 and the confirmed the baby was too big she would not deliver unless through operation this decision done so late doctors also too so long until the baby died. They could have saved both lives but because of no correct planning and time management they failed me only leaving my daughter with a serious wound. Nurses God is really watching you for the innocent souls that died in your hands
