PF not involved in firing the 6 senior journalists at Times of Zambia- Kabimba

Patriotic Front Secretary General Wynter Kabimba

Patriotic Front Secretary General Wynter Kabimba has said that the PF as a party in government has nothing to do with the dismissal of journalists at the Times of Zambia.

He has since advised UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema to desist from commenting on issues he does not understand.

Mr. Hakainde Hichilema stated that the early retirements slapped on the six journalists at the Newspaper amounted to infringement on press freedom in the country and demanded for their immediate re-reinstatement.

Mr. Kabimba said he is not aware of the grounds on which the Times of Zambia journalists were retired adding that the contract was between Times management and the journalists involved.

He however, noted that Times Printpak just like any company has a right to terminate a contract with employees they feel have not performed well.

Last Friday six young but senior journalists were retired by the government controlled and funded Times of Zambia. Many see this move as politically engineered by former Post Journalists and staff who now hold key positions in the PF government.

The comment by No.1 is an indication of the blood shed this country will soon witness. It wont be long before we witness burning and running in this country. Its time people realized that despite coming from different tribes, we should treat each other as equal partners. No politician will ever descend to power just by being voted by their tribes men and women.

For the first time people are now identifying themselves more with tribe than nationality. This is a danger to our country. Just a few days ago, a  Mr. Mumba I knew at UNZA  10yrs as being bemba has suddenly   started introducing himself as a Kaonde. To this is a a sign of worse things to befall this land.

Kabimba like his boss Sata is an incorrigible and does not have a character of his won. Sometimes he wants to behave like his boss but even then he fails. He has very limited knowledge over most issues including legal matters where he is supposed to be an expert. I am therefore not suprised at his utterances which only make sense to PF followers. Any way time will tell how far and long PF goes in their scheme to politicise institutions of good governance including the press.

Even if Pf were involved in retiring these young media personnel, I dont expect Kabimba to admit publicly that it was the work of the party and its govt. In fact, Kabimba is just troubling himself explaining these things because as far as I know, Kabimba is not accountable to the Zambian people. He is not an elected official nor does he occupy any govt position. So why is he labouring so much every day on behalf of those we have elected? Let him concetrate on organising his Poor Finishers’ (PF’s) club

Why were they fired? HH should have taken up the matter with Times of Zambia management . And what has become of ZUJ? Is it so toothless that it can not stand up for journalists? Zambian trade unions are very useless.

Surely there iz a lot of Wynter Kabimba around. Rather unprecedented and looks like even more poweful than the dreaded “party and it’s government” of the late UNIP.

The people running the newspaper were appointed by the PF government. Which means they represent the PF government. You can’t run away from your responsibility. You’re victimizing those young people because you think they supported the MMD. Instead of “retiring” younger people, retire older people like Malama and promote the younger ones.

THe PF promised free and independent media.. A week later , not a word from MISA, not a word from the Times of Zambia and not a word from the Minister of Information. Where is this country going to. Surely the dismissal of six senior journalists should be a matter of serious concern to all journalists in Zambia and yet there is deafening silence. Shame.

    # 1 HH IS DIFFIKOTTI. Have you read how desperate Kabimba is?, he acknowledges that PF members are being victimised and yet they are in govt. This tells you PF is not and will not be in control 100%. If they believe eliminating all those with a different political view from PF will fire everyone including their cabinet members. That’s how bad it is. Info comes from cabinet members, senior civil servants, perm secretaries, OP staff and other security wing members, including relatives. How will they get rid of everyone of them?. Checks and balances is a MUST and so far PF is in negative governance and leaks and definciencies will be exposed for the sake of Zambians to benefit from good governance that they were duped on false promises.

in modern zambia ,name tag especially the surnames are being misapplied on tribal tag,MUMBA can be kaonde, bembe, easterner.miyanda can be tonga, ngoni.nyambe can be bemba.the point here is we are seeing the results of intermarriages that took place 20 years or so ,we have HH bemba chief.so lets go beyond name tags in our society.iam LUPENGA and 95% of the people think iam bemba.but iam from KASONDE village in petauke.of course i have bemba blood tracing back 100 years ago.

The jopurnalists had contracts with Times of Zambia, we are not privy to their contracts, neither do we understand circumstances behind the termination of their contracts or early retirement as you are calling it. But the interest and passion shown by HH also rings bells, could it be that these were your stooges, or people running your so called Watchdog providing you information??? I personally knew Patson Phiri and he is not worth his sort, infact he has only been at the Times for less that three years!!!!

If Obama’s Agents can lose jobs for misbehaviour, what of those MMD cadres planted at Times?.It seems those Guys have been planted and were being paid up by HH and some MMD thugs to infiltrate the PF Government, otherwise I see Mr HH crying foul in most decisions. Previously, HH and Sata had a common cause, to remove the corrupt MMD but now it seems HH is a very good friend of the corrupt MMD and they have both teamed up to try and bring down Sata, isnt this strange?. I hope HH is clean.
