file: President Sata and President Mugabe

ZIMBABWEAN President Robert Mugabe is in Zambia on a three-day visit that will see him officially open this year’s Agricultural and Commercial Show in Lusaka.

Mr Mugabe arrived in the country aboard a commercial Air Zimbabwe plane which touched down at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport at 14:00 hours. Mr Mugabe is accompanied by his wife, Grace.

Mr Mugabe, who is also accompanied by some of his Cabinet ministers and other government officials, was met on arrival by President Sata and his wife, Dr Christine Kaseba.

Others at the airport were Vice-President Guy Scott, some Cabinet ministers, service chiefs, some diplomats accredited to Zambia from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and government officials.

Mr Mugabe was accorded a 21-gun salute as the brass band played music before inspecting a guard of honour mounted by the Second Battalion Regiment of the Zambia Army.

The Zimbabwean head of State was also treated to some cultural dances by local ensembles before boarding the presidential limousine and heading to State House.

Last night, President Sata hosted a State banquet in honour of the visiting Zimbabwean leader at State House.

Today, the Zimbabwean leader is meeting first President Kenneth Kaunda at his office, and later he will visit Saro Agric Equipment Company.
He will also visit Huntley Farm in Chisamba.
On Saturday morning, he will officially open the show and tour some stands. Mr Mugabe leaves Zambia on Sunday.

  1. It is good that our President has befriended Mugabe who is unwanted and shunned by many for fear of the west reacting with their terrible and cripling sunctions – at least Mugabe has a friend to look to – congrats to Micheal for befriending Mugabe

  2. The Captain of the sinking Titanic is here. All doomsday prophets are gone, Mugabe is still here. Mugoregore ni mambala!

    • I cant agree with you on this Mugabe in my opinion is the only African leader who has the guts to stand up to the West, the rest are all cowards agreeing to anything selling what you believe in all because of a handout..gather the facts and lets debat..

    • GP GP,
You stand up to someone when there is an issue and even then you are supposed to use your brains. Is there a written covenant that Africans should be fighting the west? I don’t think so. Mugabe is a dictator and that is what makes him an enermy of democracy not just the West.

    • GP,GP I agree with u on this score.  don’t support the idea of “Long live” presidents (two terms maximum is best) ….On policy the west seem hypocritical, check, free markets are only in African states, (the west’s markets are restricted to protect their farmers, manufacturers and economies ,hiding under the shield of stds) ask Foreign affairs minister Lubinda& Patel (former Lsk central MP) on why the DOHA& WATO Talks and agreements failed. gro products will never sale on those markets unless thru their agents!. Produce oil, mineral wealth and now consumer wealth-they fix prices for you. ou stand up to them,or expose their secret policy for Africa-you become an enemy&dictator.Their Govts intervene in the economy (the 2008 global downturn , Loyds bailout&the Barclays Libor), oopen up

    • Preparations for 2016. When PF lose elections he hopes to hammer unsuspecting zedians till the cower!

  3. Here comes violence. His Excellence Violent Mugabe was welcomed at the airport by his counterpart SatanSata who are both staunch members of the Catholic church. What a combination of misfit catholics.

    • Unless you repent sir you are doomed do call our President Evil names. The Lord has allowe Sata to lead.

    • Unless you repent sir you are doomed do not call our President Evil names. The Lord has allowe Sata to lead.

  4. Mugabe can only receive such honour in a country that’s stands for what Mugabe stands – staying in power forever, strip off your country all of its wealthy, to a point where ur local currency is worthless and are forced to use the USD, turn state police into a militia to beat up opposition members, restrict media freedom, etc.
If Zed is not careful, we are heading in a similar direction.
I m surprise that Zim airways was able to land in Zed –  can it fly to any other place apart from Lusaka lol

    • Ba Ukwa GP..boza ni you ipa..Mugabe didnt cause Zimbabwe to head the way it did SANCTIONS did and who came up with these sanction?the very same people you are trying to please by not associating with Mugabe, how can you punish the economy and Zimbabweans just to  get to him?the same people who don’t produce copper but determine how much you should sell it at! The same people who conduct unfair trade and make sure africa cannot sell to their markets unless through their agents..I say gather the facts before you expose your ignorance,Mugabe’s crime is being president for too long !!

  5. Thanks a lot His Exc MC for according such to a man whose importance in the role of struggle against apartheid and white dominance over black land, whom very few so called educated know about. When Mugabe is gone then history, african history will accord him as a hero who stood and fought the colonialist to the last.People read your history propery and know where you came from and how this man fought for his people`s land. What is good economy when the indigenous can not own any fertile land?

    • Most of you are just making noise :-@ Mugabe didnt cause Zimbabwe to deteriorate the way it did SANCTIONS did and who came up with these sanctions? The very same “people” you are trying to please by not associating with Mugabe, how can you punish the ZIM economy and Zimbabweans just to  get to Mugabe? Its like trying to punish and elephant by killing all the ants in the wild…the same “people” who don’t produce copper but determine how much you should sell it at! The same “people” who conduct unfair trade and make sure Africa cannot sell to their markets unless through their agents.I say gather the facts before you expose your ignorance,Mugabe’s main crime is being president for too long  !!

  6. # 12…I conquour with you!! A lot of people dont know and they just follow whatever BBC,CNN and other Western broadcating corporation say.People lets read before we make a decision….ans post.I will give an example,U own alnd and someone comes to you so that the land can be used for some time, you agree and sign. Then after the time you had agreed elapse, the person denies to move out of your land. What can you do?We are just told that Mugabe is a bad person…How?This man is a HEROE in Africa.Thats why most people on this blog have a dependance syndrome….that if we fail to do that, then they will do this.Very bad syndrome!!

  7. Most of you are just making noise :-@ Mugabe didnt cause Zimbabwe to deteriorate the way it did SANCTIONS did and who came up with these sanctions? • One of the most distinguished African LEADER, Levy Mwanawasa MHSRIP, saw behind those thick spectacles of Bob and thus declared “the Titanic is sinking”. He had the courage to tell off Bob for killing his OWN people. Unfortunately most Africans are fooled by these old-guard into believing liberation credential will drive this continent from the crippling poverty it finds itself in. Africans need to start working for themselves. Very few people are gifted with intelligent and courage of the late Levy. How I wish he had lived longer to help Zambia and our poor continent in general

    • Ukwa, sad that your debate is not deep enough! U cannot develop the future if the past has not taught u anything nor opened your eyes…..Who has ”
Sunk in the titanic, Ley or bob?” If you evict a tenant whose has defaulted by not paying the dues, can he turn an claim ownership of that flat, and pipo like u can condemn the landlord?….We live in a jungle world in which hypocricy is exonerated more than virtues, where civilization doesn’t exist…If africa had nothing, the west could not have bothered, check events in Libya &Syria (on the time taken-human rights ought to be universal) . mugabe being a DR&freedom fighter, knows very well these double stds, better!! he is a hero. His only crime is overstaying…..

  8. Does Mugabe know that Ukwa was a colonial police informer? He probably informed on Bob which led to him being beaten up in the b.alls whilst in prison.

  9. Mugabe is clean, he managed to impower his pple, by giving them land, mines, shares from companies etc. i salute you Cde

  10. @GP GP
You seem keen for a proper debate on this barbaric moron who epitomises the primitive leadership that Africa and the Arab spring is cleansing itself from. your hero could have been an African hero had he not become to greedy in his desire to hold on to power. That is the root cause of Zims problems.

    • #18 This is where the problem begins, you like “THEM” seem to think African leadership is primitive and you Idolize western leadership as the upper limit without offering meaningfull input, and what do you base this uninformed conclusion on? Your comment is baseless and very insulting to even me as an African, to call something you don’t understand primitive is just an insult & shows your level of understanding of such issues, the bottom line and that is what is my point of discussion is that SANCTIONS imposed on the ZIM people by “THEM” is the reason why they are in a mess, if they really wanted to help why didn’t they pull a Saddam or Bin Laden on him? Your masters are the real issue here!

    • I won’t engage in primitive debate but if you asked me elaborate my point, I would have done just that. I do not worship anyone as my master and I am certainly a proud Zambian and therefore a proud African. I have referred to Mugabe, and his like, as primitive because of their leadership style that reflects the primitive age of mankind. A time when people believed they are God given and can do whatever they like with impunity. I have a great deal of understanding and can tell a rough leader from the pack. I will start on a simple note: Mugabe has billions of dollar investiments (seized or not) in the very Western lands you and him condemn. Why is that for this gallant African leader? Where has his billions come from? Cont…..

    • Have these billions come from his salary and allowances? I don’t think so, more like dipping his hands in national resources for his own selfish needs at the expense of his people. Are the investments and amassed wealth for the benefit of Zimbabweans or his own self? And you call this a true African leader? I want us to understand the background of the parties concerned before we debate the sanctions. It is premature to start on the sanctions before we explore the reasons leading up to them and understanding the parties will help in understanding their thinking. So I await your comments…..

    • GP GP,
I imagine you are busy to respond so i’ll contribute to the sanctions you claim to be so conversant with. Mugabe forced white ZIMBABWEANS out of farms that they “owned” for political mileage yet asking Britain to compensate them. He claimed that that was based on an agreement signed some 20years earlier. Not only primitive but dull too because the terms of that agreement allowed Britain to compensate those with “British ties” if they VOLUTEERED to surrender their land. Please note that an agreement with terms based on “force” is void any any sound jurisdiction. For 20 years while Mugabe’s rule was not threatened and he enjoyed being in bed with the very West he now claims to be imperialists, he forgot about the agreement and the plight of his indigenous Zimbabweans….cont

  11. Please Guys like what some 1 has Never done Mugabe stood up for his people go to Zim and talk bad about Mugabe you will see how you will be beaten Sata has now settled for his people example look at the minimum wage look at the street vending these are his people because the voted for him. You just get your 5 million and going to shop in pick and pay so u dont have an idea of suffering so shut up and let the pipo working for us the poor realise some of our God given wealth Amen Kwamana

  12. Those of you who are defending Mugabe have not even seen how families have been brutalised. You should try and praise him but do not forget to also praise him for:
    over 30,000 Ndebeles
    killed in the 1980’s.
several politicitians and cadres that have been killed to keep a lid on the MDC.
hundreds of millions of US$ that has been taken out of government treasury without question whilst people die of poverty related illnesses.

You should not just talk without having facts! You cannot keep blaming the west when this man keeps (directly and indirectly) killing innocent people. Sata should cut this relationship. We did not vote for him to embarass us like this.

    • Embarrass you to who? The west? Seems like you are one of those Africans who live to impress the white man. If a white man says i wont be friends with Mugabe, then you also follow suit, if today the western countries became ‘friends’ with Bob, would you protest against that or you would be back telling sata to be friends with Bob? Be man on your own primitive African! Think for yourself dont wait for the west to tell you what to do!

    • ” You should try and praise him but do not forget to also praise him for: over 30,000 Ndebeles killed in the 1980s. ”

Oh, so now it is OVER 30,000. You know, it used to be 30,000, according to Tendai Biti at the Atlantic Council. For most of the 2000s, it was 20,000.

However the Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace in Zimbabwe, in it’s March 1997 report, said 3,000+, at least 3,750, possibly twice that, maybe more.

At no time did they mention the 20,000 number. It is the MDC that is trying to milk the Gukurahandi affair for all that it’s worth.

Just so they can hide the 50,000 dead Zimbabweans under Ian Smith.

    • I agree with Mr K. But also Mwana Chinondo how do you suggest a president “cuts a relationship” with an important neighbouring country? Close the border? What’s your alternative?

  13. Mugabe has courage of his conviction.Maybe president sata has the same thing in mind clinging on to sweet trappings of power what come may.President sata is giving legitimacy to mugabe administration.Do you wonder what the strategy is?

  14. #1 BWALYA, YOU ARE RIGHT. IT’S ONLY A FOOL WHO SEES THIS FRIENDSHIP IN A NEGATIVE WAY. ZIMBABWEANS ARE NOT JUST OUR NEIGHBOURS BUT BROTHERS AND SISTERS, TOO. I KNOW AMA ZIMBABWEANS BALIKWATAKO AKAMWELA, BUT BESIDES THAT WE HAVE BEEN TOGETHER FOR A LONG TIME. THEY HAVE BEEN THRU QUITE A LOT THEY NEED PEOPLE SUCH AS ZAMBIANS WHO ARE BEST AT KEEPING OTHERS IN POVERTY OR RICHES. AFTER ALL EVEN UP TO THIS TIME THERE MILLIONS OF ZIMBABWEANS STILL LIVING IN ZAMBIA- THEY NEVER WENT AFTER THEIR INDEPENDENCE. FOR ME THAT’S A SIGN OF FAITH IN THE COUNTRY, ZAMBIA. ONCE UPON A TIME I WAS IN ZAMBIA AT NORTHMEAD SHOPPING CENTRE. I WAS HUMBLED BY A LADY I FOUND OF SOUTH AFRICA AND LESOTHO ORIGIN. THIS WOMAN IS VISIBLY SOUTH AFRICAN AND OWNS A SHOE REPAIR SHOP AT NORTHMEAD. I TOLD HER THAT SHE DID NOT…

    • Peter
This is really shallow. It is not the Zimbabean people that we detaste but their dictator leader who cares about nothing (including his people) but staying in power. KK stepped down after 27years on account that he could not shed a drop of Zambian blood just to stay in Power. How many Zimbabweans have lost their live for this dictator to hold on to power.

  15. well, i gat nothin to say. subject matter is not worth my energy. kind of too intelligent and wise for this sort of issue. good day.

  16. Uncle Bob.Welcome to Zambia. Thanks for being a true patriot of our Soi.The African soil belongs to Africans.Myopic ones don’t understand that anywhere away from Africa you never own land but they own exhobitant hectars to to themselves.
No crime has this man committed .Just give chance to new blood but not underdogs.

  17. Yes , indeed uncle Bob well come to Zambia, you are a hero and it makes me proud that i will be shaking your hand tomoro…..there is no room for underdogs ……. we havent forgetten how the white man with his guns killed and drove our people out of fertile land in the mountains…
    abash you blogging pupperts….

  18. One of the most distinguished African LEADER, Levy Mwanawasa MHSRIP, saw behind those thick spectacles of Bob and thus declared “the Titanic is sinking”. He had the courage to tell off Bob for killing his OWN people. Unfortunately most Africans are fooled by these old-guard into believing liberation credential will drive this continent from the crippling poverty it finds itself in. Africans need to start working HARD for themselves. Very few people are gifted with intelligent and courage of the late Levy. How I wish he had lived longer to help Zambia and our poor continent in general

  19. People who say we are defending Mugabe don’t understand. We are defending Sata. Mugabe is more than capable of defending himself. If your neighbour is a problem do you start arguments with him?

  20. Umwana wansoka……. Na-ena ninsoka! Pye..pye…pye! Pye pye, Awe nshangalilwa. Time to increase the volume on that system please!!!

  21. Three things to say: 1. Mugabe has long overstayed his welcome as President and there is no justification for his continued stay. Has he never heard of Nelson Mandela. 2. If Mugabe is looking for African heroes, he is in the wrong country, Sata was a colonial informer and only Zambians are crazy enough to make such a man President, He has now gone one better by making Guy Scot shadow President of Zambia in accordance with the Zambian Constitution and 3. Those talking about blind indigenisation, Idi Amin tried it in Uganda by confiscating Indian businesses and see where it landed his country- total ruin.

  22. …LOOK ZAMBIAN BUT SOUTH AFRICAN. SHE SAID SHE WAS BETWEEN SOUTH AFRICA AND LESOTHO. I WONDERED WHY SHE DID NOT GO TO A RICH SA EVEN AFTER THE END OF APARTHEID. SHE SIMPLY TOLD ME THAT “ZAMBIA IS MY COUNTRY AND I WILL NEVER GO TO ANY OF THESE COUNTRIES.” SHE WENT ON TO SAY SHE FEELS MORE AT HOME IN ZAMBIA THAN ANY OTHER PART OF THE WORLD BECAUSE OF THE PEOPLE WHO ARE MORE WELCOMING. SHE REMINDED ME THAT SHE KNEW HOW RICH SA WAS. BUT SA CAN NEVER BE AS RICH AS ZAMBIA IN TERMS OF PEOPLES’ HOSPITALITY. TO SAY THE LEAST I WAS SO HUMBLED I DID NOT WANT ARGUE ANY FURTHER. I JUST GAVE HER MY SHOES FOR HER BUSINESS TO REPAIR AND I BOUGHT A BEER TO DRINK WHILE THE JOB WAS BEING DONE AND CONTINUED CHARTING ABOUT OTHER THINGS. SO, LET MUGABE AND ZIMBABWEANS FEEL COMFORTABLE IN ZAMBIA. IT’S..

  23. mugabe has outlived his usefullness, therefore he should be discarded, why is he still clinging to power?zim is comebacking not becoz of him but MDC who are incharge of the economy, but mugabe and his cohorts are busy stealing the money.I ALSO PRAISE KK ,WHEN HE SAW THAT HE LOST HE ACCEPTED AND MOVED ON WITH LIFE,HE PREVENTED LOSS OF HUMAN LIFE ,thats what we call hero and a leader, not BOB

  24. you can talk as much as you like, but those are hard men, thats why they got where they are now, what of you #7,8 9…,when are you going to become presidents?

  25. Hi, I stubled onto a web site by means of Bing at the same time buying a related situation, your site emerged, seems wonderful. We’ve saved them inside my msn bookmarks.

  26. Mugabe opening an Agricultural Show? He has all but finished off all agriculture in Zimbabwe!
Its almost like Inviting Hitler to a Jewish Convention !!!

  27. Yes, after all he is the role model Sata would like to be, and dear beloved KK would like to have been. He represents their MUYAYA syndrome.

  28. In Zambia we still lag behind in technology because we cant even afford suicide bombers to rescue us.We seriously need such investment in technology from our Arab colleagues for the development of zambia.
