It is illogical for MPs not to work with Government-UPND MP

Time Posted: January 18, 2013 8:13 am

United Party for National Development (UPND) Gwembe Constituency Member of Parliament, Brian Ntundu has cautioned UPND councilors in Gwembe against frustrating government’s developmental agenda.

Mr Ntundu observed that UPND councilors are the majority in Gwembe constituency and cautioned them against politicizing government’s developmental projects in the district.

He was speaking yesterday during a Constituency Development Fund (CDF) stakeholders meeting held at Munyumbwe Civic Centre.

Mr Ntundu said there is need to support the Patriotic Front government so that its developmental agenda for the district succeeds.

He said as member of parliament, he sees nothing wrong in supporting the government of the day adding that MPs draw government salaries and allowances.

“It is illogical for MPs not to work with government because it is the same government that pays them salaries and fuel allowances for them to carryout their duties” he said.

The MP explained that the PF government is there to deliver to the people of Zambia and called on all Zambians to support government in implementing programmes.

Mr Ntundu said the 2013 budget is the best so far as it is activity based.

He said the PF government is committed to adjusting the CDF upwards to ensure that Zambians plan and implement their localized developmental projects.

The MP who spoke fondly and highly of President Sata said politics should not be mixed with development.

He called for the proper utilization of CDF for the benefit of the people of Gwembe.

And Gwembe CDF stakeholders have unanimously proposed to purchase road equipment from the just released one billion kwacha CDF in order to improve feeder roads in the district.

In attendance were Ward councilors, the District Commissioner, heads of government departments, district council staff, NGOs, the church, chiefs, and community representatives.

This is what we want politicians in the opposition to be advocating for…. THere is no way an opposition can develop any part of this country from their pockets.. VIVA Ntudu with your altitude becuase we want our people of that area to benifit from this govt, whether they voted for it or NOT.

I will soon instruct the party structures to follow your approach to politics, because it is developmental not antagonistic the way Douglas Syakalima wants us to move

My friend, governement has a responsibility to develop all parts of the country regardless of the political terrain. People like you who dont understand democracy think that govt can only develop areas where they have representation, what backward thinking! For example, I pay huge taxes every month but I am not PF, where do you think my tax goes?

It is taxpayers paying you public workers and not a despotic regime. It is not their money but our money. This does not create an obligation to break your moral and constitution right to disdain and distance yourself from amoral failures in power.

HH was praying that Nevers is locked up so that kankale popular keve. Sorry HH, Nevers is more popular than you but you are more violent than Nevers and MMD.

People should draw a distinctive line between working with the current Zambian government( that includes all MPs from the ruling party & opposition) & working with pf party. I liked it the way Hon. Mweetwa put it, ” that Upnd is very willing to work with government bcoz they form the government but not Pf party” So people should get it right. Pf party is using taxi payer’s money, our money to buy Mps from opposition, is that normal? Zambian politicians its high time you sober up, work for the people who intrusted you with the responsibility to serve them not political prostitution!

The MP is correct, deveolping Zambia requires everyone to participate and work with the GRZ of the day. However, if UPND does not want development then they should disband and let their bitter HH tame his animals at the farms.

Come 2016 we need a more realistic MP in Gwembe not this Brain, how do you praise Sata with such economic dwarfness & which budget is the best & compared to which one? Brain! wake up & be real. HH needs sober men & women around him & not those who want to be in the praise choir for pf where Mumembe is the choir master. All mps should indeed work in & not for bcoz they are part of this government.

What is wrong with praising the president. He is entitled to his own opition. Go ahead and expel him, PF will just be too happy to have him. Then when that happens, you will start crying that Mr Sata wants to kill opposition. Yaba, at least I saw HH frightened yesterday although he managed a smile. It is the first time I saw this chap smile. I must have been enjoying what was happening. Musankwa, it was good seeing you smile for once.

Since Kabwata Constituency is about to be declared vacant by the expulsion of Given Lubinda this weekend,UPND should give marching orders to this crude Gwembe MP who thinks PF pays his salary and allowances. He has no clue that whether PF likes it or not all MPs regardless of their political affiliation will get their salaries and allowances. The reason is that this money is from tax payers not PF members.

Comments made by MP Ntundu has always been the perception of democratic rule. National development is non political as every part of the country requires improvement in infrustracture and industrial placement. The notion of denying development of parts, sections or regions that do not vote for the ruling party is falsehood, greedness and lunacy of politians. In democractic Zambia people should not be held at ransom with this arm twisting politics. Constituency Development Fund was introduced by MMD meant for the country nationalwide. Its usage and accountability is what matters most to the constituency and not the party in government. PF while in opposition discouraged its members to work with MMD govt – Remember term REBEL MPS began with PF in opposition- primitive politics.

Why is it that when an opposition MP praises the gov it is an issue? the gov is for the all people, meaning all of us are suppose to be involved. PF and gov are two different entities, so Mr Ntundu is very very right to declare his interest of wanting to work with the gov. UPND members please swallow your pride and accept that their is gov in power which is your gov too. Whether you like it or not unless you live in HEAVEN of which you DON’T. For mr Ntundu, please sir continue with your works of saving the masses of that poor humble community. If they chess you for doing something which is noble, find another party where you can save better without intimidetions.
