Opposition MMD president Nevers Mumba says government’s delayed to release the final draft constitution should not be used as an excuse for shunning the country’s independence Jubilee celebration to held later this month.

Some opposition political parties such as the ABZ and APC have used absence of the final draft constitution as one of the reasons for shunning country’s 50 years independence celebrations which falls on the 24th of October this year.

Dr. Mumba has told Qfm news that the demand for the release of the final draft constitution is a fight that needs to be fought on its own.

He says this is particularly that the fight for the release of the national document is on course and this therefore does not change the fact that Zambia has turned 50 years of independence from colonial rule.

Dr. Mumba it is important to also keep it in mind that the country’s golden Jubilee is not an event for the PF government alone.

He says commemoration of the country’s 50 years of independence has a Biblical and Christian message of a Jubilee and therefore the hope of his party is that every Zambian will rally around this opportunity to forget the past of acrimonious politics and divisions that have rock the country.

The MMD leader says people in the country can also use this opportunity to rally behind a unified Zambia which he says is also the reason why his party will attend the jubilee celebration.

    • I am afraid I have to disagree with Mumba on this one. How do you celebrate 50 years of Independence when you are not free as a country. From the shackles of the colonialist to the shackles of UNIP and now those of PF. Membe should know better having been denied his freedoms a few times. If anything, we are still fighting for Independence. Ask HH, Frank Bwalya and RB

    • our president Mpombo has been sent to jail deliberately so that he doesnot attend jubilee celebration…. we wrote to your Sata and your PF govt to allow him go after the jubilee celebration, and your Sata refused,,,,ukubipa umutima!!,,, but you allow criminal Shamenda to attend jubilee without charges

    • Yes, our president Mpombo has been incarcerated in a bid to obfuscate his fulgent presence at the fiftieth commemoration of the nation’s emancipation!

    • @Saulosi-Am impressed that, for the 1st time Saulosi has acknowledged that Dr Mumba is a rational man as compared to some political party leaders.

    • Don’t worry we shall attend to celebrate the 90 days policy, after all the Jubilee is animal driven sorry Mushota driven

    • @It’s a worry-You do not only celebrate your birth-day only when you have money.Whether you’re rich or poor, you can still celebrate your birth day and thank God that you’re still alive though you may be poor. You celebrate and thank God that you’re alive and not dead.Dr Mumba is right and indeed he is a rational man.

    • HH,Fr Bwalya or Rupiah are not the Authority to tell the Zambians whether to celebrate independence Jubilee or not.In this case, they are just nonenties and citizens of Zambia.

    • I do not see any sense in celebrating 50 years of independence when;

-people are not free to meet and discuss real issues affecting them.
-people are still not free to express their opinion about their stupid leader.
      – majority Zambians can not manage to feed and take their children to school.
      – the PF government still perpetrates selective justice.
      – PF promotes and attends to the needs of only one tribe, the Bembas.

This jubilee celebration is nothing other than celebrating the removal of a racist and cruel white regime and replacing it with another cruel, tribalist, corrupt, thieving, and dishonest black rogue regime.

If it was under a different regime where people are not intimidated for speaking out against a stupid leader drawing a salary for doing nothing, I would…

    • @Sir Nyambe
Your comparison is illogical to say the least. I am not suggesting that we dont participate in the celebrations because of Zambia’s economic woes. Not at all and we should and can celebrate any Independence anniversary whether wealthy or otherwise. However, celebrating our LIBERATION from colonial rule, but be mirriored with socially accepted freedoms in a democracy. In order to see my point of view, you will need to define “INDEPENDENCE”, then Colonial Rule and then ask yourself what it is we were fighting for? Have we achieved that?
Your simple mind only starts at the “Birth” of a new nation (Zambia) and this Golden Jubilee only means “Birthday” celebrations. And that is where you and I differ.

    • Today Ps Mumba is a darling of ba Mumbwe from PF just because he said something in their favour. Know where you stand.

  1. THIS IS HOW POLITICIANS ARE SUPPOSE TO THINK AND TALK,WELDONE PST.DONT ALLOW SMALL TUNTEMBA PARTIES SUCH AS ABZ AND OTHERS TO BLIND YOU.REMEMBER YOU ARE ONE OF THE BIGGEST POLITICAL PARTY IN ZAMBIA AND IT IS EXPECTED THAT YOU CELEBRATE GOLDEN JUBILEE AS WELL AS YOUR 20YEARS IN GOVT.
    MAY GOD BLESS THIS LEADER.

  2. I don’t think Sata’s presidency came from God.the man has finished all continents except s.America just troting ofcourse not with the aim to win investment but seeking medical attention.this global trotting started shortly after wining the 2011 election.the only man who never enjoyed his presidency.

    • you are right @ganja farmer,,, if Sata`s presidency came from God then aparthied also came from God or Hilfer`s rule came from God!!

    • You both are right. Remember it was only in the late 70s that the Mormons removed the decree that slaves would only find salvation through their masters and subservience! I am glad life itself is not yet man made…

    • DEFINITELY, SATA’S PRESIDENCY CAME FROM JEHOVAH GOD. THE MAN HAS LED A HIGHER BAR OF STANDARDS AND HAS TRIGGERED NATIONWIDE INFRA-STRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT IN A SIMULTANEOUS OCCURRENCE. SATA WILL GREATLY BE REMEMBERED BY WELL MEANING PROGRESSIVE ZAMBIANS OF POSITIVE THINKING.

    • I totally agree. The so called unprecedented Infrastructure development is just a copy of the Kaunda legacy after independence, therefore it is precedented. There is nothing to appreciate from an absentee landlord.

  3. It is a pit that when others would be celebrating the fifty years of independence our heart harden president shall be in bed . To N Mumba he just loves money . i wonder why so body could leave the church just to fight for presidency . God is watching

    • @Sabinah-Jubilee has also a spiritual meaning other than just a mere celebration.Dr Mumba being a Pastor,he knows much more what Jubilee means for zambia even from the spiritual point of view.Whatch this space, what this Jubilee will bring and mean for Zambia in many aspects-Economy,political,Justice,governance etc.Zambia will definately need a Jubilee President alligned with the thoughts of God.When the righteous are in Authority, pipo rejoice and when the wicked rule(Sata(n),pipo mourn.Currently pipo are mourning.God save us and indeed give us this Jubilee of deliverance from oppression, poverty, injustice etc

  4. That is it Pastor Mumba. You are more sensible that any other opposition party president. Tell those 1 man political parties to stop being childish. At times like these we need to forget our differences. HH has no direction. He is just waiting to see where the wind will blow and then utter something.

  5. Bashimumba ubu ebukulu mwatampa remember sata was like soul he changed then became president nemwe change and God will lift you up.

  6. How is our patient doing? he ascended to power for the sole purpose of receiving world class medical care at the expense of poor Zambians. If this man truly cared for the Zambians like his supporters say he does, he would have stepped down to allow a healthier man withing his party to finish his term but noooo!! Those in Zambia, has he been seen or heard since he came back from his UNGA holiday? Even on the 19hours news???

  7. Nevers Mumba hopes the PF confusion can land him the opportunity of presidential candidate for a PF-MMD pact.

  8. Can Mumbwe keep his mouth shut!!! Trying to win favours from PF will not land you the Veep. We know you. Please just leave our party .

  9. The jubilee is a celebration for every patriotic Zambian, whether political or apolitical. There is no UNIP, or MMD, or PF independence to celebrate, but Zambia’s independence. I believe that Zambians must understand and perceive differences between a political party and the country; if any political party sees no difference between Zambia and PF, then such a party will have it difficulty to see the difference between their party and the country Zambia if voted into power. It is a confused party.

  10. @ Bo Sipopa don/t lie to yourself. This miracle seeking behavior is what has killed Africa. The difference between China and Zambia or Japan and Zambia is not Christianity. Its laziness. People like you Bo Sipopa who believe so much in miracles are the ones killing this economy. Don’t tell me that countries only start developing after celebrating their Jubilee. This is madness. Just work hard to develop this Country.

  11. ‘TRUE BLUE’ AND ‘MMD DIE HARD’ are one and the same woman. Ignore her.

Nevers you are the only level headed presidential candidate. You rebuked UPND and PF after the Mangango elections on their violence and insults style of politics and they obeyed. We did not see that repeated in Solwezi, Zambezi, Eastern Province and Mkushi.

You are now leading in calling for order in the celebration of the Jubilee. Well done. This is how a President speaks. HH and PF are listening to you. Mwawina kale. We need a clear headed leader in Zambia. I call upon Dr. Kaseba, KK and Mr. Chikwanda to advise the President that Nevers is the only hope for Zambia. Hew will have no time for revenge or harrasing opposition parties..
