PARLIAMENT has adjourned indefinitely following the death of President Sata.

Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Mkhondo Lungu said yesterday that Parliament will remain adjourned until further notice to facilitate the funeral and burial of Mr Sata.

Mr Lungu adjourned the proceedings of the House after reading a message informing members of Parliament (MPs) about the death of Mr Sata.

“Honourable Members of Parliament, as you are aware, His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zambia Mr Michael Chilufya Sata has passed on.

“Therefore, let us observe a minute of silence in honour of our departed President. Further, the House will be adjourned until further notice to facilitate for the funeral and burial of President Sata,” he said.

And people from all walks of life have paid glowing tribute to late President Sata.

Veteran politician Vernon Mwaanga has urged the country to unite and put political differences aside in order to give President Sata a decent state funeral which he deserved, before getting back to the constitutional requirement to elect a new president within the next 90 days.

Mr Mwaanga said the nation should mourn in a respectful and dignified manner and honour President Sata.
Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) secretary general Roy Mwaba has called on all Zambians to unite and mourn the death of President Sata with and dignity.

Mr Mwaba said during a press briefing yesterday that the labour movement is shocked to hear of the death of the president.

Mr Mwaba noted that the late president worked tirelessly to bring development to the people of Zambia.

Gender and Child Development Minister Inonge Wina says the death of President Sata is devastating not only to the Patriotic Front (PF) but to the nation as a whole.

Ms Wina, who is also PF chairperson has since described the late President as a gallant fighter for the rights of the poor, especially women and children.

And some traditional leaders have joined the country in mourning the demise of President Sata.

Chief Madzimawe said it is unfortunate that the nation can lose three leaders in Levy Mwanawasa, Frederick Chiluba and President Sata in less than seven years.

Meanwhile, Chief Sipatunyana of Kalomo said President Sata will be remembered for creating the Ministry of Chiefs and Traditional Affairs that is mandated to address the plight of chiefs

And North-Western Development Council of Elders Chairperson Lucas Chikoti has described the death of President Sata as painful, reports Buttyson Kandimba.

Mr Chikoti said in an interview yesterday that the people of North-Western Province have learnt the death of President Sata with great sorrow and described it as painful.

And scores of Mbala residents have received the news of the passing on of President Michael Sata with deep shock and devastation.

And District Commissioner Best Kabulembe has called on Mbala residents to remain calm, united and peaceful during the mourning period.

People spoken to by ZANIS after the news filtered through that the President had died, many residents said they were ravaged with grief and described the death of Mr Sata as a shock and loss to the nation.

They said the country has again been robbed of a gallant leader who devoted all his life time to ensure that the lives of the poor and marginalized people in the country were improved.

And Mr. Kabulembe this afternoon addressed heads of government departments with the call for the members of the public to remain calm, united and peaceful during the period of mourning.

He has since cautioned public workers and Mbala residents in general against disorderly, unlawful assembly and reckless statements but that they should mourn President Sata with honour and dignity

    • Dear Cartel,

As you can see, God answers the prayers of Zambians.

      Don’t put KABIMBA or else…

      Thanks

    • Time for everything.

Well, things have changed and Saulosi has disappeared like I always told him. I’m sure he’s half way packing and panicking because time has finally arrived, time of real change.
As Mushota is still in awe, Scott is calling the shots and Lungu has to obey. The Kambwilis and GBM s are now living reality, the beginning of the end PF cadres.
Now its 3 months left for PF, counting down.
      Enjoying PF disintegrating into pieces.
Justice awaits the PF and how could one die seriously shocking from a medical check up?
      The Skeleton Key.

    • Burying your head in the sand won ‘t help you. The reality of the matter is that President Sata should not have died as president as his illness was well documented and known by the entire universe. What has happened is a calculated and very well organised move by the PF in order for them to finish at least the remaining term and close all ranks by ensuring that there are no squealers in their midst. Ninety days (90days) have come to haunt PF again. The question is.. Will you give them a compassionate vote in 90 days?
Remember what happened to the compassionate vote given to RB? Dear voters, I urge you to vote with your heads and not with your hearts this time around. We, the Zambia people are the CEO (Employer) and have to look at the best CV on offer from the applicants – Thank-you!

    • Is it a coincidence that the releasing of the draft constitution was done shortly before Sata’s demise? is this like dangling a carrot to a hare or a juicy bone to a Doberman? We have several questions to ponder on whilst we mourn the passing of yet another incumbent president! Are we setting a precedence here or are we just awaking to the fact that we should take a Zambian’s life expectancy and use it as one of the factors in deciding and allowing applicants to stand? Men and women of a certain cutoff age should not be allowed to apply! It takes a strong resolve and perseverance to bring about real progressive change. The road ahead may be difficult in the interim but the Almighty God has answered the prayers of this Christian Nation yet again. Awake my people and vote-in progress.

    • The Zambian Hero and my hero is no more. There is time for everything, time to be born and time to die. It’s a pity President Sata’s time came at a time Zambia needed him most. He will not see the completion of most of the projects that he started but I believe those who worked under him studied the meticulous way of making things happen. Go well King Cobra till we meet again beyond. MYSRIP.

    • You and Me,

Their time of reckoning has arrived. Wait, soon they will start political party re-migration because they lack thereof loyalty. This time around, bootleggers will learn the hard way. Haven’t you articulated, Saulous has vanished, or exams are on top of him!
PF can’t run away from Lusaka to Lusaka anymore lol.

    • Me and Wanzelu are watching. We told you but you called as biter and all sorts of names. You have killed your own president and forget about your evil schemes of Bembalising every conner of Zambia. You looked at other people like dogs .This is a leason to all sobre minded Zambians that lets do things using God.Lets vote for pipo not simply because they are your relatives but lets vote pipo because they will bring peace and development to Zambia.I hope the evil sacrifices will stop hence forth.

  1. Lets put Scott as presido the Kwacha yikakosa… will gain value .. more investments from white entrepreneurs and lets face it the country will be looked at differently form a business perspective with a muzugu… ( Decoy )
sounds colonial mentality but if it would help the masses I would vote for him to lead us…. Just an opinion

    • No. Zambians are so naive. You have actually welcomed Bazungu nations to plunder your country – all on the quiet of course. You won’t even know. You think Scott can say no to any business deal engineered by the UK?

    • Dreaming from the “Lolland”! Please, wake up Kudos from your slumber. I personally didn’t, so its not all. Why including everyone in your dwellings of denial?

    • @Kudos..

His Excellency Michael Sata was a great man. His image was dented by people like @kudos, Gen. Haleisa Ha…. who just preached terrorism against HH and the Tonga people. You did not do a good service to the late President as you preached hate purporting to speak on behalf of PF. You and the former SG actually drove people away from the party and made out the top leadership to be bad in the eyes of Zambians outside PF, both partisan and no-partisan. Just hope the young people will heed Ruwe’s advice in his latest article, that is if at all you still value reading.
May the President’s soul rest in eternal peace. God bless his family and Zambia.

    • What did he accomplish apart from resklessness and incompetence. …greatest leader who never even had the guts to face his nation in a live press conference at State House. ..3 years of myopic and mediocre leadership.
      Wake up!!

  2. Unprincipled opposition member who sold out for a few extra ngwees are now without political insurance and hoping the adjournment will last till 2016.

    • Enka,

They are in double jeopardy here, surely even a car runs out of fuel.
Yanzanda manje, na nchito imasila, elo bazasila.
By the way, have you heard from Saulosi?

  3. Sad that our Sata is gone…hey! what happened to Mushota our darling, has she/he gone into hiding or she is hibernating. Mushota your dearest president is dead so just come out and join us in mourning him, it happens dear. Every single life is precious. RIP ba sata we will miss you.

  4. Condolences to Dr kaseba and family. Sata will be missed by all who adored, worshipped, and benefited from his misrule. Nothing lasts forever on earth.

  5. It sad indeed for the President to disappear like that from June to the Grave.. Opposition cant you want PF finishes one year next year then you Vote on First January 2016 since constitution right is to vote after 90days which will be January 2015. Pludering the resource will be seen in both of you if you allow to vote in 2015 and again 2016.

    • THE 2015 PRESIDENTIAL VOTE: Constitutionality aside, my view is, Political parties should come together and discuss in detail to forgo this coming by-election. let us reason for once, allow the Pathetic Fools-PF to finish the remaining two years. We shall save resources. Yes, i know plundering will continue but really it doesn’t make sense to have elections in JANUARY 2015 and another election in SEPTEMBER 2016—-this is my suggestion, decision is yours

    • @Mwautitla and Daka you are fools .Who told you that we shall serve resources by allowing these thieves continue to plunder up to 2016.The constitution is clear we need to usher in a new president with the pipos mandate to Govern this country.Start to pay back the heft loans this lumpen Sata borrowed .So that by 2016 we start to rebuild our country in a less corrupt atmosphere .Twachula sana pafula we need to start afresh we need new air.Not fibakote lyonse you mean we don’t have young men with brains .Try the calculator boy Sata already identified him.He has the ability to create wealth.

  6. Foolish analysis to most Zambian-People have already forgotten the lies of this late PF tribalist & balkanizer that Zambia has never produced in its annals of history.Above all what ‘that’ irritating dictator has done to the social-economic development & he even almost succeeded in making bemba names & tribe as a qualification for high positions in formal employment in both quasi and parastatal companies-we have many evidences to this fore! In 1996 Sani-Abbacha died at about 10:00hrs & buried at 12:00hrs in fear of him resurrecting!

  7. Everything said in this article is right apart from the part on the establishment of house of chiefs. This house is less important and does not serve the interests of the nation. It is just an assembly of people trying to make a living through sitting allowances. I dont like it, therefore it should be dissolved forthwith.

  8. “Mr Mwaba said………..the labour movement is shocked to hear of the death of the president.”

I understand there’s need for diplomacy but we could be less dramatic too, but Sata’s death was not shocking at all, we all knew Sata’s death was imminent as portrayed by the frail images we saw on TV and newspapers. I mean every woman, man and child except of course his family, close friends naba kandile, knew we have a funeral in waiting of the head of state. His death was as inevitable as the sun rising in the east and setting in the west, expected, certainly not shocking.

  9. This is cost of our docility and passivity for retaining a deadwood patient in State House; leadership crisis and arrested development at national level, at ruling party level and a weak unprepared opposition in no position to step up.
I can guarantee you that Sata’s corpse would be used as campaign tool and will be toured in every boma in Zambia like the MMD by the time he is put underground the docile Zambians in rural Zambia will be praising and singing PF chants.

    • Maybe they should just hang him up somewhere in Lusaka like Mussolini!

Then anybody interested in seeing a dead snake can come and have a look.

  10. The way our Tonga brothers are blogging over the death of our President leaves much to be desired. They have thrown ubuntu and expect a normal being to cast a vote for their leader??? Never unless I am the world ends.

    • And you can tell the tribe of a blogger just from what they write???????

F**k off you, YOU are a tribalist. And YOU are an ID!OT that really does not know what you are talking about.

    • @Chabwera what makes you think those are blogging negatively to sata praises are all Tongas. You are mistaken my brother .Why should we praise someone just because he is dead.We need to start the truth. The man Sata was not a good man .He lived a life fool of crookedness he divided Zambians in tribes through is dividing of resources. It s not about being Tonga or not. I am warning Zambians who reason like Chabwera don’t vote for HH because he is Tonga vote for him if your heart tells he means well to Zambia. If he will bring development and unite them go vote form him.Use your heard not what we did in 2011.Other countries are loughing at us how can be voting for dead pipo when able bodied pipo are there just because they are our tribsmen. Abash Stone age politics.

  11. This is very suspicious! why now? Is the Speaker also a hostage of the Cartel? Is this not done to prevent members from questioning legality of Guy Scott new role! Come on fellas close shop as if you are going to cry, get nkuni and dig the grave!

  12. MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE EVEN THOUGH HE WAS NO DEMOCRAT.
MEANWHILE LET US DO AWAY WITH THE POLITICS OF THUGGERY OR CADREISM FROM ALL PARTIES. UPND SHOULD NOT PRETEND THAT THEY ARE INNCOCENT OF THIS VICE.
PF SHOULD RID ITSELF OF MMEMBE AND HIS POISONOUS HYPOCRISY.
OTHERWISE THEY WILL LOSE THE PRESIDENTIAL BY-ELECTION.

  13. So Now the the PRESIDENT is dead a new constitution can’t be enacted since the Acting President has no power to sign off LAWS
It has to wait till the next PRESIDO!!

  14. I know diplomacy is decent at the present time regarding Sata. Let his family mourn him. Let Zambians also mourn him without the insincere, false eulogies that your culture has set you up for.

And keep your eyes open. While you wail and continue to dwell on Sata’s inevitable outcome, you are being dribbled again. You know that Scott is Kabimba. You know that Scott is Mmembe. You know that Scott is Masebo. And you can see that Scott is white. Yet you rush to docile, inane statements that support your inaction.
“Let’s show the world how united we are”
    “Zambia is a peaceful country”
    “God is watching”
    “God bless Mother Zanbia”……

What kind of idyots are you?

    • Jesie wamu town its you who have been dribbled and your Bemba clique. So stop insulting as.You think you were going to continue with your schemes of reducing other pipo in Zambia docile followers.God who sees in pipos heart is the great equalizer. He has allowed scott to hand power to a leader hamble enough to respect the dignity of life and that all Zambians are equal in the eyes of God.

    • @Sido
I can’t even start debating with you. You have already displayed your inability to think critically by this statement

“God who sees in pipos heart is the great equalizer. He has allowed scott to hand power…..”
      WTF?
Once someone starts saying God this and God that, it’s a waste of time trying to make them see logic. So I’ll let you be.

  15. Brainless People,
Stop comparing Obama’s election to Scott’s presidency.
Obama’s election is a testament to the fight that BLACK Americans successfully managed. They finally had a black guy in the presidential position.

You have done the opposite. You have let the Black Americans down. They cannot believe how you are undoing what they have started.

  16. Farewell Michael Sata. I will not miss u because of how u treated the pipo of Northwestern prov. Let your Bemba relatives mourn u . U thot u were immortal when u mocked others in illness. Where are u now? I m sure those u mocked are laughing. Farewell till we meet probably.

  17. Since the passing of MR. SATA I thought long and hard on the meaning of the death of Zambia’s leaders in office. Is it that Zambia is unfortunate or is the Creator and Lord sending us a message to be more diligent when choosing our leader? I have seen a lot of comment about these men being old but that is not the case since KK and Mugabe are much older yet still up and about.
The answer therefore is that the people of Zambia believes that being tribal is cool and that they can put any crook in office and the Lord is saying to us, you keep butting these crooks in office and I will keep taking them out… Zambia needs a great manager, an honest person, who actually knows what he/she is about; but most importantly the person MUST be knowledgeable in Nation Building, Diplomacy, wealth…

  18. The New Leader God wants for Zambia:
    1 Timothy 3:1-5 ESV / 49
The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God’s church?
    Mark 10:42-45 ESV / 26
And Jesus called them to him and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. But it shall not be…

  19. The answer therefore is that the people of Zambia believes that being tribal is cool and that they can put any crook in office and the Lord is saying to us, you keep butting these crooks in office and I will keep taking them out… Zambia needs a great manager, an honest person, who actually knows what he/she is about; but most importantly the person MUST be knowledgeable in Nation Building, Diplomacy, wealth creation and country management… only then will Zambia realize her full potential.
These thoughts were confirmed thru the passages to follow that the Lord gave me this morning:..

  20. Mark 10:42-45 ESV / 26
And Jesus called them to him and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

  21. If Zambia choose the wrong Leader again:
    Ezekiel 3:16-4:17 ESV / 24
And at the end of seven days, the word of the Lord came to me: “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me. If I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, in order to save his life, that wicked person shall die for his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. But if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, or from his wicked way, he shall die for his iniquity, but you will have delivered your soul. Again, if a righteous person turns from his righteousness and commits injustice, and I lay a stumbling block…

  22. before him, he shall die. Because you have not warned him, he shall die for his sin, and his righteous deeds that he has done shall not be remembered, but his blood I will require at your hand.

  23. …..before him, he shall die. Because you have not warned him, he shall die for his sin, and his righteous deeds that he has done shall not be remembered, but his blood I will require at your hand.

  24. WARNINGS for the People of Zambia:
    Proverbs 29:12 ESV / 13
If a ruler listens to falsehood, all his officials will be wicked.
    Psalm 55:23 ESV / 10
But you, O God, will cast them down into the pit of destruction; men of blood and treachery shall not live out half their days. But I will trust in you.

    Isaiah 1:23 ESV / 8
Your princes are rebels and companions of thieves. Everyone loves a bribe and runs after gifts. They do not bring justice to the fatherless, and the widow’s cause does not come to them.
    Isaiah 1:4 ESV / 6
Ah, sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, offspring of evildoers, children who deal corruptly! They have forsaken the Lord, they have despised the Holy One of Israel, they are utterly estranged.

  25. So many useless posts here…get off your PCs and Ipads and walk the walk….All we need is the peace that we have been enjoying since independence….Parliament will be back soon, in the mean time lets focus on our peace….
