Man condemned for ditching fiancée who gave birth to a limbless son

Share

The Zambia Disability HIV/AIDS Human Rights Programme for the Blind (ZDHHPB) has strongly condemned the man of Namwala District who has ditched his twenty nine year old fiancée for giving birth to a limbless child.

Melody Miyoba of Sigwidi village in Chief Bright Nalubamba’s area was betrothed to Trust Michelo who has however changed his mind following the birth of his limbless son, Blessings two years ago fearing that people would laugh at him for having a disabled child.

ZDHHPB Programmes Director Elijah Ngwale told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today that the decision by Mr. Michelo to ditch his fiancée and abandon his biological disabled child was inhuman.

Mr. Ngwale said ditching the fiancée and abandoning the disabled child would negatively affect the child’s future.

He said there was no need for Mr. Michelo to ditch the fiancée and abandon the disabled child as the child was innocent.

He said the disabled child was young adding that he needs all the support from his biological father who is still alive.

Mr. Ngwale said the child did not wish or choose to be born disabled adding that Mr. Michelo should consider rescinding his decision of abandoning his disabled child.

He said Michelo’s child can contribute significantly to the development of the country despite his condition adding that disability is no long inability.

Mr. Ngwale has since called on all Zambians to condemn Mr. Michelo for abandoning his disabled child.

Mr. Ngwale said what Mr. Michelo did was total discrimination not only on the part of his child but all disabled persons.

He said it is very unfortunate that some people in the country were still discriminating persons with disability.

  1. Thats a shame. He should change his name to MisTrust Michelo. God’s blessings to the child.

Warning to women: Get married first before getting pregnant.

  2. very very sad story…poor child…. this is going to have a large negative impact on the child’s self esteem as he grows….Michelo is just asking for curses from the Almighty…. Condemning Michelo won’t change his mind, he needs counselling, just like millions other Zambians, who discriminate and backbite the our disabled brothers and sisters….The whole nation needs enlightenment…Elders please move in to help the young couple, they are just overwhelmed

  3. This Trust who was named as such cannot be trusted with anything. I suspect there might be all manner of superstition associated with this unfortunate circumstance .

  4. MMD progapanda against Chief Nalubamba, the most hated by MMD to scandalize the Chief that he is busy politicking and not concerned about what is happening in his own chiefdom! Why now after 2 years coming out? Something not very correct here, watch the spears thrown at everyone that is vocal against the MMD!!!

  5. It is easy to condemn the man because we are not in his situation. I think what he needs is not condemnation but sympathy and prayers. Only love can soften the heart of stone. It takes spiritual maturity and a lot of strength to face and accept such a destiny. God bless the family.

  6. Rather than condemn someone, why not offer help for the child. Set up a fund or something for healthcare, special education and other needs.

  7. In this case, thank goodness the woman was not married to this man. Better now to find out that is a bad apple than later on years into the marriage. The shame is on him for not facing up to his responsibilities as a man and as a father. If he truly loved this woman, he would not have walked away from her and the child. The child’s disability was just a pathetic excuse for the abandonment. Sooner or later, this loser would have left. He seems to be a weak man; one who is born to bolt when faced with a challenge! Both mother and child are better off without him. Let this ignorant man be someone else’s problem. Or better yet, let him be by himself! Such selfish people do not deserve to have a loving family!

  8. Quite a sad reading for the child and mother.
However, what is this NGO? Zambia Disability HIV/AIDS Human Rights Programme for the Blind (ZDHHPB). First it starts with disability, then human rights, then HIV/AIDS, then blind people…….. man there’s something fishy there. Is it the mother body for all NGOs in Zed????

  9. He should stand up as a man and accept responsibility, the child is innocent and needs him as a father. He really needs help..its not easy for the woman as well. What if the woman also rejects the child then what??

  10. Tongas aroso, last time it was a woman giving birth to a half tonga half ng’ombe baby in Chief Mwanachingwala’s area. Now its this limbless baby in Chief Bright Nalubamba’s area. God knows what next is coming in Chief Chona’s chiefdom, maybe this time a half train half tonga baby. Mwa tusabile imyebo ba suntwe pe!

  11. Sad story. Please RB minimux your trips this is where money should be channeled i.e. for supporting financially, counseling and spiritual. These are Babies who needs special Medical facilities instead of gallivanting.

  12. Badala ba Trust,be a father to your child.Dont be a disgrace to the male folks. This is fate that nobody has control over.

  13. This guy how can he run after firing half effective sperm? I hope he doesnt go on to have kids with other women and do a runner too

  14. All you bloggers are not offering solutions. Just yapping as usual. Have ypu read about the Ausie limbless man who went on to study law and is now even dreaming of modifying a car for his ease of mobility? And # 16 Sebuloni ulisondokende. It was a cow that gave birth to a human and not the other way round.

  16. I feel sorry for this man. He needs our simpathy and support. As a parent myself, childbirth is one of the most stressful events and everyone just wishes for a healthy child. To me, this man appears traumatised. I therefore find the comments of the Chief Executive of this NGO very unnerving when he says – Mr. Ngwale has since called on all Zambians to condemn Mr. Michelo for abandoning his disabled child. I think an NGO that has interests in all areas of human life should have shown more understanding and offered some solutions.

  17. Shame that tis guy can do such a thing to a child who does not know anything neither did he make himself the way it is
