The Patriotic Front (PF) has expressed disappointment at the Director of Public Prosecutions DPP’s decision to slap former Deputy Health Minister Dr Solomon Musonda with a lesser charge of causing harm with intent to maim, disfigure or disable instead of charging him with attempted murder.
PF National Youth Chairman Eric Chanda said the charge slapped on Dr Musonda is tantamount to assault.
Mr Chanda told QFM in an interview that the party is disappointed with the way the DPP is handling the case.
He said the offence committed by Dr Musonda is serious and that he deserves a serious charge.
Mr Chanda has since called on the DPP to consider slapping Dr Musonda with a stiffer charge and not the charge of causing grievous harm with intent to maim, disfigure or disable.
Dr Musonda shot and wounded Jackson Musaka a resident of Chitambo in Serenje district.

1-On behalf of many patriots where still sleeping or busy on more important undertakings, I opened the door of accepting results and maturely congratulating PF and their GBM which you would never do but usual crying foul.Accusations of rigging would have come into your losing orchestra but not MMD does that.
2-This has triggered a call for me to enter active politics and join active patriots serving the nation. I will be doing this voluntarily and wittingly before the end of the year. I think now is the time to let the law run its cause. None of us on this blog were there when the incident happened so are not in a position to make informed opinions as to what happened and what needs to be done next. Sometimes better to wait for the facts than jump to conclusions like some other bloggers who seem to know what exactly was going on in both Musonda’s or the victim’s minds.

UNBELIEVABLE. I dont believe people still urgue with these rented shamless bumlickers, it’s poinless debating with f.o.o.ls. These are mad individuals with no respect for human life, its incredible how someone would call shooting of an unarmed youth self defence.
This is really sad, the DPP shows that he has no regard for our country and zambians. This sets a very bad standard, that there are two separate legal system, first, one that says certain members of the society are special and above the law, second, the other for all unimportant zambians who can go to jail for anything that the government deed necessary. This period symbolise how our government is not paying attention to what matters most, human life. If a person tries to kill another that is attempted murder, to call it anything else is ridiculous and arrogant. The DPP needs to be fired, who is working for? Is it for zambians or for certain individuals in our society.
i would like to find out from people on this blog. 1. what charge would have been laid on musonda had the man died of his wounds? 2. what precedent is being set here? if i slapped musonda and he took me to the police what charge would they lay on me?
