The Alliance for Democracy and Development (ADD) interim president, Charles Milupi has described republican President, Rupiah Banda’s call for the electorate in Luena not to vote for him as a distortion to democracy.
Mr. Milupi who recently relinquished the parliamentary seat to take up ADD presidency, said that his conduct is within the obligations of the constitution.
he said the decision he made was in the best interest of the people and his performance in that area still holds enough reputation for him to retain the seat.
Mr Milupi said that ADD is an effective opposition political party that could be able to give a new turn to national politics by according credibility to the democracy that this country has been built on.
He pointed out that his party is by far the most popular party in the LUENA at the moment and MMD is too unpopular to compete for the parliamentary seat.
The ADD president said he is building the ADD on issues and not character assassination as it has been the case with other political parties.
Mr. Milupi, however, said that he does not expect the republican president to take pride in insulting competitors.

Milupi’s dominance in western province spells doom for MMD.its unfortune that he will carry the day with a landslide margin just to massage his ego.His party will be restricted to western province only like the late Agenda for Zambia and ULP.
In Zambia politics is about personalities not issues,so Milupi should reposition himself carefully if he claims he is practicing politics of issues,he has already started hitting back

ADD is here to stay and if you think its like ULP you see how (Milupi) will beat the four parties. Milupi is very clever and intelligent , the like of HH of this world but much wiser. How could HH marry with SATA????? and think SATA will allow him to lead the PACT that will never happen.
UPND had 49 seats in 2001 but now they have 25 meaning they have lost so much support. Yes in the ST they have increased thier support. Mark my words Milupi will beat them in Luena. In Luena its “CUU” Milupi is retaining that seat with landslide. UPND have given up and have now vowed to vote for ADD. Its not Milupi ‘s fault that the constitution allows for a bye election when as an independent member of parliament decides to join a political party.
#11 i agree with you. Those who think Milupi is loosing dont know what is happening on the ground in Luena. Both RB and Kunda were being greeted with ADD party slogan. Milupi has done over 90 projects from CDF money. Instead of stealing CDF like Mabenga he put it to good use and the villagers appreciate and are willing to vote for him again
Milupi has proved too insensitive, irresponsible, indecissive and a personality culty egoist. No one forced him to go independent in 2006 only to turn the corner on the highway. For his heartless ego his self induced bye-election has robbed the poor people of Luena a staggering ZK 3 billion plus meant for public development. He believes he is a demi-god that owns them as his personal property usable any time he wake-up on his left side. Akayenda mumwezi and his madness cheats him, he believes he pull anything on the people. I pray the constituency will prove him wrong this time around.
You cannot be a leader if you are this heartless with the very poor majority’s plight. The people of Luena are being taken for his mop rag and he believes he has built a personality cult among them.

To tell you the truth, this by-election was still going to be there had he stood on MMD in 2006, why? Cause the MMD is more corrupt now, than it was that time and Milupi doesn’t look like a person that can tolerate such kind of corruption. He is not a type that will sit back and watch his country go to the dogs all in the name of avoiding a by-election. I have asked my Lozi friend who hailsnear Luena, he says Milupi is popular there same way thieving Katele Kalumba is in Chiengi. I think I can see the lament in RB;s tone, he said we (MMD) didnt force him (milupi) to quit, RB was or is there because of a senseless decision Milupi made. It’s bad enough for Milupi to just rezign az an Independent MP and cauze an expensive bye-election, and even more horrible that he should recontest the seat on a three months old one-man party. He would have done well to join ULP, UNIP or indeed MMD. And the fact that he iz likely to win again will not change hiz Independent MP status one bit.

Looks like LPM took us Zambians on a longer ride than FTJ. Am just wondering why someone would plunder K838 billion. No wonder RB is also on rampage getting us into debt with the fong kongs.
