  1. Chao i am sure Mbesuma would have liked to stay in Portugal. He had to leave cos Maritimo didn’t want to sign him on a permanent move.Remember he was there on loan from Portsmouth.Though the guy must be frustrated for sure.Hes just has to be patient and when given an opportunity to play he must play like it’s his last game of his life. There is a guy from Cameroun in the team thats been bagging in goals hes keeping him on the bench.Though these days hes not even on the bench.

  2. Gentlemen i am baffled by Peter Kaumba he says, “he can’t include Rainford Kalaba and Clifford MUlenga into the U-23’s cos the have graduated into the Senior team”.I thought the man would want to have the best available team to face Ivory Coast.R.Kalaba is the best local player we have, hes definitely above his peers in the U-23.C.Mulenga also gave the Ivorians a lot of problems when we beat them 2-0 in the first game.He was actually voted Man of the Match.
    The latest(W.Post)is that the Ivorians

  3. Cont #3. have included Solomon Kalou of Chelsea in the team to face Zambia.S.Kalou also plays for the Senior team.Ghana have been using Asamoah Gyan of Udinese Italy (Serie A)and Kingstone. We saw both these players play for the Black Stars at the last World Cup.Nigeria have been using Obinna Nsofwa of Chievo Verona Italy(Serie A).He also plays for Nigerian Senior Team. Those of us in S.Africa saw what a difference these guys made in their teams when the played S.A U23’s.
    I am a Patriotic Citizen

  4. Cont #4. and i don’t want to sound negative.I feel P.Kaumba is not telling us the real reason why he hasn’t included these players in the team. The have been part of the team in the past after all.Rainford might walk away with the Zambian Player of the year award(2007) and hes the joint Top Scorer. For a Midfielder this is good.I feel
Peter Kaumba is a good coach and hes done well so far but all hes work will come to zero if we lose over the weekend. We haven’t done well in the last two games.

  5. Peter Kaumba is really baffling, I don’t think he has the desire to qualify the team to the Beijing Olympics. Lwandmina would have done better. What a lame excuse to give! That is why we need a foreign coach. At least they have high ambitions and measure their success by taking their teams to big tournaments. Kaumba is a product of the Zambian syndrome that does not produce when it really matters, how do you expect him to deliver this time?

  6. Forget about winning in Cote D’Voire. As usual we were just escorting the West Africans to Being 2008. In Zambia we’ve people who pretend to be normal and yet they are not. Look at FAZ, our friends are busy playing friendlies, and thats when we are selecting players for AFCON. This is really shameful. We dont even have a decent stadium to play international matches. Politicians, soccer administrators etc, are all bullshit. PERIOD

  7. #7 you are spot on. It is very embarrasing to hear that Zambia will play home matches away from home due to lack of decent stadia. Former war torn countries like Angola, Burundi, Congo, Sierra Leaone etc can afford to host international matches. What is really wrong pa Zed?? Kaumba has a grudge against Kalaba not this lame excuse he is bringing up. Kalaba is NOT yet 23 so he can still feature in the U23 team. Please let us wake up and be serious for a change.

  8. Its shocking that we have pipo like Kalusha Bwalya in administration of soccer, but they have no forsight over issues like stadiums. Its disturbing to hear Teddy Mulonga announcing that Zambia might play its WC qualifiers away. Very embarassing. I have time and again said this. Burundi is already playng their matches in Kígali. This was a war torn country in 1994. They can even hold be teams like Egypt. So where to Zambia?

  9. A so-called soccer giant playing home matches away! This what happens when you have people we have in government – people who don’t know what priority means. Countries with fewer resources have better infrastructure. When we comment about these matters, we are labled unpatriotic. When people express how they feel about such matters through apathy and rejection in elections we bring up scapegoats. It’s time we called a spade a spade – soccer like everthing is in shambles in Zambia!

  10. Zambia playing home matches away from it not a laughing matter gentlemen. This shows how sleepy as a nationa we have been. Is true that we are a bunch of people that waits for things to sort themselves out or we have been let down by the people we trusted to make cricial decisions on our behalf?

Gentlemen, it doesn’t get any worse than this. As zambians, we have the responsibility to hold our leader to account and its time we piled the pressure on both govt and faz to deliver a decent stadium

  11. People in Zambia are busy broadcasting that the economy is growing. But I understand that when an economy is growing or deteriorating, there are always indicators of the economic situation in a country but what indicators are these people using if we can not show even a simple 20, 000 seater stadium in the country.

The zambian people have been let down by self centred individuals whose sole purpose of being in leadership is personal glory.

Zambia does not need this situation. God help us.

  12. FAZ dont realize that U-23 is perfect way to expose players to international scene. Say Zambia qualifies to Beijing, worldwide audience wil be watching. Why must we hide our two gems in the names of Kalaba and C. Mulenga? That is their chance to sign for big-name clubs.

  13. I wholeheartedly agree with #12 Kemps. First of all we Zambia is 43 years old with no decent stadium. Shame. War torn countries like Angola have good stadia and are actually improving for 2010 Africa Cup. Angola just waking up from war are going to host the AFCON in 2010. Secondly our national team cannot even play good friendly matches. FIFA appointed dates are like holiday to the Chipolopolo. Its all because of mediocre leader both political and football adiministration. The problem in Zambia

  14. Kaumba is bullshitting us.I t showsmthat the barley ‘s technical ability are lacking. How could he not even consider kola atleast a guy madrid is trying out.I think he has something agianst the two players.i simply do not understand his logic.he is crap

  15. ctd is that people talk a lot with no action. This is really bad. Are we ever going to learn? Like somebody above mentioned, there is nothing like fikaisova ifine. This is pathetic and apalling. Mentality and the way they think especially our political leaders should change. These are the people who have entrusted with the national resources and should ensure that service delivery is accomplished. I hope politicians are able to read the comments posted by the guys here.

  16. Talking about Peter. It seems Kalaba is not liked by the old man. Salomon Kalou, a senior player for the elephants, has been included in the u-23. Whats wrong with Kalaba playing for the u-23. This is the best local player we have (if am not mistaken). Again its pointing to lack of proper reasonin g from the coach. Anyway we going to Ivory Coast to fulfil the fixtures. I can only wish the lads good luck.

  17. On Zambia playing its home games away from home.Hey i am Mawu less.Ted was even telling BBC Sport that Zambia can take on any team anywhere.

  18. On our U-23s pulling it off in Ivory Coast i have my doubts. Before we played Bafana Bafana in Cape Town i stood by the Senior National team like a few other guys on the blog that Zambia was going to win despite the ‘Big Names’ in the S.A team.Looking at the team that Ivory Coast has called (Weekly Post)will need the best team we have to pull off a draw or let alone win.
If we win i will be Man enough to come back and say i was wrong. But Kalaba and Mulenga would make a big difference in the team

  19. Gv#10 and I raised these issues only last week. We were labelled unpatriotic and all sorts of insults were hauled on us. Let us face reality guys, we have a mountain to climb in Zambia.

  20. Its like many Zambians are not moved by the current situation in the country. So long as we can own second hand Japanese vehicles, build houses in Chalala and afford a Mosi at the end of the day, then everything is fine. Radical actions need to be taken in Zambia. And it should start with us citizens not solely relying on these recycled politicians and administrators who lack foresight. Our pride as Zambians has been eroded. We are now a laughing stock world wide.

  21. Living Abroad #21.The way you put your opinion was like everything in Zambia is useless. The are some positives and things can change.Theres is what we call constructive criticism and some which doesn’t build at all.Its true we have a mountain to climb but that mountain can be climbed step by step.

  22. Abash kaumba, eliminination is on the cards. Even Clifford Mulenga that the coach says has graduated from the under 23 team , does not even appear in the senior team. Its time coaches are rotated. kaumba should graduate as an assistant to the equally useless patrick phiri, Lwandamina should take over the under 23 and wedson nyirenda should take charge of the under 20.

  23. We lack transparency and accountability across the board. we have known for years that our football infrastructure has been deficient.the reasons given all those years ago for failing to host the 1988 AFCON were ‘economic’ reasons.it is the same old story even now.very soon the administrators are going to start appealing for funds from ‘well wishers’ and government for the national team trip to Ghana.same old story again.old habits die hard.why do we put up with it?

  24. Guys what strategy can we use to make our point to these leaders both faz and govt.

My suggestion would to start a series of letters to the post newspapers. Anyone with the details of how I can send the first to the post.

Lets try this method it may just work. We can not afford to leave players like Kalaba and Mulenga and also to play our home matches away from home.

    Viva soccer revolution

  25. #25 What is your problem? Let us blog constructively and not insult each other. I respect bloggers like Sibs. He does not use vulgar language. Let us be mature and respect each each. I do not agree to all you say on this blog and I just keep quiet becoz you have the freedom to say whatever you want. Insults will not build Zambia. Lets unite and sort out the mess in the country. PEACE!!!

  26. Gentlemen I think “Living Abroad” has learnt his lesson and lets welcome him to the family. He is not the enemy here. Lets fight the common enemy (FAZ and Govt)

He may have made a mistake at in his first cntribute but may he wanted attention.

But lets welcome him as face the enemy head on

  27. This business with the stadium has been going on for along time now, there must have been signs long before FIFA raised it first some two years ago. why has it come to this? Independence Stadium, Zambia’s pride and joy. Now it’s an issue that politicians hide, we want to see rebuilding in the right way, we need a short term solution to avoid playing abroad and a long term solution which has vision for the future. If the right plans/intentions are in place surely the financial baking will follow

  28. Independence stadium must been pulled down and replaced, but not until the right intentions and plans are in place.

Mother Zambia, there is no other!

  29. It is very embarrassing for me to hear that Mr Mulonga has said Zambia will play away. Indeed some politicians are busy anouncing that there is development and the mines are doing well. What a load of crap! They cant even build a new stadium and yet they want to feed us with bull. If you compare the mininig industry or the oil and gas industry in Austarlia to Zambia you wonder what the hell these politicians are saying. Should Zambia play away there is no doubt we will not feature in SA 2010.

  30. #28 you make me resort to insults because you have the foolish audacity to insult your country and its people on a public forum. But clearly as Kemps said, you are just an attention seeker, as such I shan’t waste any more breath.

  31. #9 Easy, your observation is valid that is what perplexes my mind about our beloved country. No war, great resources, poor management and no national ground. Please note that Burundi and Rwanda are using Congolese players who they have given citizenship. Zambia had for years not utilized this avenue which has been used by big nations in football such as France. Remember Tshikala Mwanza, James Jengela and many other names that Zambia could have utilized. The glory still could come to Zambia!

  32. As much as Peter Kaumba is one of the best we have, we cannot hide away from the fact that he still hs a lot of the old coaching syndrome in him. He will not play a player for some trivial issue instaed of thinking of the nation first.

  33. #31 Seen from Afar, there is no better alternative than to pull the ram shackle of a stadium called “Independence Stadium” down and replace it with a modern one. It is sad that there are unprogressive elements in government that cannot take pride in having modern stadia especially for a capital city. When this recommendation was passed someone rejected it as though he were going to use his family money. We will never develop with characters that cannot foresee future needs.

  34. I have read all the comments and I fully has understood all of them. I should say that the under17/20/23 are for players under those ages and eligible to play, regardless of if they have been playing or are still playing for the Senior side. Kaumba’s excuse on Kalaba and Mulenga does not make sense but just shows how shallow minded Mr. Kaumba has become. We lost Vs Senegal, and therefore it was necessary to make our team stronger, Kaumba has decided the contrary, cause he beleives in miracles
