Striker Collins Mbesuma is set to miss Zambia’s international friendly game against Tunisia in Rades this afternoon.
This follows the second time in less than 24 hours that the striker from Bursaspor in Turkey has failed to join Zambia when he failed to secure a transit visa for France from Ankara late last week.
Mbesuma, who was expected to join the team by 21:00 Tunisian time on Saturday evening is said to have delayed his arrival in the Zambia camp to late Sunday afternoon just hours before the teams kick-off of their match against Tunisia.
Last week, he failed to join Zambia’s Christmas training camp in Spain because the Spanish embassy in Ankara had closed for festive holidays.
Meanwhile Zambia was by press time in action against Tunisia in a 17:00 hrs Zambian time kick-off.
I think Mbesuma’s weakness is not discipline, the major problem is intellectual capabilities that he can’t convince the officials at the embassies. Can that guy express himself in English or can he even fill-in Visa application forms? I think Solly Pandor should realise that its his job to prepare travel plans for most of these players.
Unfortunately, Mbesuma is a waste of talent, and I personally think it is all about discipline. When you leave your club for a National Team match and then afterwards are drinking in Luwansha instead of getting your backside on a plane back to Europe, that is just silly and lacking discipline. He should be dropped from the team as this a very poor example for our young guys. Chris Katongo on the other hand is just the opposite. And he has been at camp from day one.
Yes i agree with you no.2, let the young man go back. But on the other hand if the problem is what no.1 alluded to, then perhaps Mbesuma needs help. Except i am not quite sure whether this is the right time. I think FAZ should have realised his weaknesses long before this tournament.. or should they! I do not see him as a diciplined player anyway!!
I think nimber 1 has a point.
It could just be a case of the guy not understanding things he is supposed to do. Let alone not even being able to express himself. Solly pando needs to make sue that there’s someone always to try and make proper travel arrangement for this poor guy. Otherwise, it ll be the same story till the tornament kicks off.
Yes, number 4 you got the point across indeed. Mbesuma needs extra assistance very much so, because without someone helping him along side, he has difficult times doing it himself. Mbesuma got spoiled letting things be done by his agent. Which is usual to most of these superstar and I can understand. But it depends to the individuals though. However, I hope he we clean up some of this mess if he wants to continue playing for the squard. Because with the new Coach things we be totally different.
Viva Chipolopolo!!
Felix Katongo scored twice within four minutes to give Zambia a surprise 2-1 win over Tunisia on Sunday in a 2008 African Nations Cup warm-up match.
The result will boost Zambian morale ahead of the tournament in Ghana from January 20 to February 10 after an embarrassing 4-1 loss to Spanish regional side Andalucia in Jerez late last month.
Excellent news No 2!!!
I hope that we keep the momentum up right into the tournament, we have a game against a local team in Tunisia on Tuesday before playing Morocco next Saturday.
Dispite what some people on this forum are saying Zed has had one of the most comprehensive warm-up programmes. Most teams have not even gone to camp yet and we have been there for over a month. I really hope that we see the results in Ghana.
Correction on above. We are actually playing Tunisia again on Tuesday. I am hoping to catch the match on on the web, Tunisian TV streams live to the web.
Fantastic result, and thanks gentlemen for score up date. But lets avoid such words as “Embarrashment” loss in Spain. There was not much to complain about. We should expect to loose 1 or 2 games in Ghana, but so what, if the boys can win most of games it all be good. Even their Mbesuma can only be used in practices, the other boys can implement the game. This Zambian team can be compared to current Arsenal, even without Therry Henry the young boys are putting exciting matches.
#9 I f we loose 2 games in Ghana then we have a problem. We have to win all our games and that should be our aim and I am sure we shall do well. After beating Tunisia in their back yard well I now feel we have a strong team.
This is worrying or is it administrative? However Mbesuma has been a problem since he become a star. Everytime he is coming late for camping . This is a national duty. Fifa regulations states that footballer must be released in time when going for national team duties.
ALL THE BEST AND GOOD LUCK TO THE CHIPOPOLO BOYS.
Well done guys. Nothing is impossible. I know you will do it at the tournament. We should appreciate FAZ and GRZ for this outing despite financial constraints. Other countries are still struggling with their preparations eg SA is camping in Durban and will play friendlies against Mozambique and Botswana.
Malyotola #1,
You have looked at the problem from a very good angle we have not considered all along. It may not be a DISCIPLINE issue afterall. I think Mbesuma’s illeteracy does affect his self-confidence in going about VISA and other travel arrangements. FAZ should also consider this because it is not true that there were no travellers out of Turkey during the period the embassies closed for Christmas.
Soccer Fan No.2.Thanks for the results. Not bad i know this was a friendly game but Tunisia is a very difficult team to beat especially in their own back yard.A Big up to the team i hope this win can boost their confidence and not make them complacent at the same time.
That results atleast shows that any of the midfielders or strikers can score.Considering that the same team wired us 4-1 in Egypt,it gives much pleasure to nail the same team at their back-yard.No 8 you mentioned watching the game on tuesday on the web.please furnish me wit details on how, what site plz.Egpty beat Namibia 3-0 on saturday. What is the problem surrounding tana at the moment?when is he joing the squad?plz block members give feed back.
A good result for the Chipolopolo boys indeed, and a morale booster. Tunisia will be wounded and would try to erase by scoring a big margin in the second game. A draw for Zambia will not be bad and a win will be a bonus. Good luck baiche.
Despite the absence of Mbesuma, the Chipolopolo boys can still do better.Go boys Go.
Why is it Mbesuma in these circumstances all the time. This guy whould be banned from Playing for Zed. He is like a car with great suspension, but with a useless indian engine.

I personally do not care about the national team. our footballers of today lack both discipline and focus. very soon mbesuma will be playing for division one team. before long he will contract TB and ultimately die poor? that is always the end result….! these boys call themselves pros and yet they drink more beer than us soccer unpros! self destructive behaviors? where is young perry mutapa now? where is tenant chilumba? useless chaps….to hell with them.
#21, U must be very CARELESS & thanks you admit you are. Most bloggors here do care about the national team – hence the comments. And next time you analyse, make sure to talk with facts! Also be diplomatic and don’t mention names anyhow or you will caught LYING like now. I don’t know about Perry but Tenant is economically well and looking healthier than U. He is my personal friend and I hang out with him after my working hrs. It is true some players are not disciplined but point the right ones..
@ #20 Keyser Soze,
“great suspension with Raghan engine” ayi? Ha he he ha LoL!
Lets help Mbesuma with contructive criticism. Being a good speaker of English has got nothing to do with playing football. Adebayor Tevez does not speak fluent English but is a marvel to watch at Manchester.
Learn to put connected analysis. Chibuku discussions are outdated gentlemen.
Your audience here is vast and exposed.
number 21 you basically should not even be on the block since you do not care.Anyway for us we take pleasure in the team success even if we get hurt if the team loose but come rain or sunshine i will have a heart for chipolopolo. Are u even Zambian you? iam Namibian but i appreciate ZAMBIAN soccer time imemorial, learn to appreciate what you have least you loose all.Goal 2 for chipolopolo and tunisia 1 last nite.
#24 Kemps, who is Adebayor Tevez. Seems like you are living in the doldrums.Baiche imwe chibuku naimi fulunganya.
#21 You are lost my friend.TC is very much fine probably the second smatest player to Kalusha Bwalya!!Becareful with yo comments!!!
Mukwike # 26 i am sure Kemps meant to say Carlos Tevez and E.Adebayor.It was just a mistake.I see you saying baiche,Kemps may actually be your age or older than you.I have met him once at the Stadium in Pretoria.
#28 Sibs
Cheers mudala. Yes I made a mistake because I intended to write Adebayor or Tevez but the Guy #26 took advantage. Some people overrate themselves. How do you someone you have never known Mwaice? That is carelessness. Anyway my point was not on the names but on the fact that people must not criticise to destroy. Lets help build these Zambian footballers by giving constructive criticism.
I think it’s a long move PP made.
And you zambians you always change & you don’t appreciate, can’t you remember all the glories Mbesuma has brought to our country.
So just after the first game, you will start insulting PP.
Now we know you [‘BAMUSELELA KWAKABA”
Lets think guyz!!!!!!!
Guyz we have 2 b positive sometimez.
Lets be sayin we lift da Cup.
And some of you jst come out when it’s time for africa cup,you don’t even follow football.
So think when you are writing & not just that you want to write something .
WE DO WANT THIS DULLNESS TO GO FAR.
Zambia will be da Champions!!!!!!!
PAPUNTI

watched the win last night(sudan game)good performance by zambia but i have reservations-the height of the last five defenders save for one(khetani) including the keeper is our weakest point.Anyone below 5ft 10 especially for the keeper is unacceptable risk.
