Div 1 Week 1 Round-up: Bright Starts for Nakambala and Forest

Share

Demoted Nakambala Leopards and Forest Rangers began life in Faz division 1 on a positive note with victories in their respective week 1 games this afternoon.

However, their was a modest start for Dean Mwiindes National Assembly who drew at home to Nampundwe played at BP Sports Complex in Lusaka.

Nakambala beat hosts Young Buffaloes 3-0 to give new coach Weston Mumba his first win in charge away to the latter team coached by former Zambia coach Collins Mbulo.

Moses Siyunda, Nixon Chilundika and former Zambia schools and Under-23 striker Linker Mwikisa were on target in the 46th, 63rd and 85th minutes respectively for Nakambala.

And just 100 meters down the road at the Coca Cola Grounds, Assembly came from behind to draw 1-1 with away team Nampundwe following a Mwape Mwelwa equalizer after Lombe Lubembe had given the visitors the lead.

Both teams were under new management today with Mwiinde for Assembly and Chris “Gazza” Tembo, who was formerly with Nakambala, at the helm of Nampundwe.

At Musa Kasonka Stadium in Ndola, Forest beat fellow relegated team Zamtel 1-0 in their derby.

In Kitwe at Garden Park, Kitwe United and Mufulira Wanderers played out to a 1-1 draw.

It was the same result in Kabwe where one of this seasons potential promotion favorites Prisons Leopards finished 1-1 against Chindwin.

  1. Well done Nakambala sugar boys and please be focused if you are to bounce back into super division. The first mark goes deeper so they say and this should be the beginning of your way back into the elite league.

  2. Nakambala sugar boys, well done again for bashing Mazabuka united to the tune of 6-1 on Good Friday and to consolidate your lead in divison one south. As stated previously just remain focused and surely you will bounce back into premier league in the next season. Once more well done.
