  1. What a shame, how can the whole council announce three computers for the district.I was so excited at first to read this stuff.I thought one would say at least 50 computer kuti ya fumyako insoni. If yr ZRA was not biased, students abroad would donate enough computers for the use in various districts.

  2. I commend Mpulungu Council. If you guys can add a computer or two.Burying your head in the sand to shy away the lack of a cypercafe in Mpulungulu won’t help.LT keep the light Mpulungu.

  3. The fact that they are moving from zero to three computers is an achievement on its own. Eons of years ago, I was using a Commodore 64 …Just donate those computers if you really care about the rural folk and stop whining about ZRA. Think about the long term benefits…hey, maybe we will have a blogger from Mpulungu to give us saucy stories like we get from Sinazongwe!

  4. #1 At least they tried, can’t u help by donating cheap chinese computers. What can you do for your country and what ur country can do for you.Thats if you are concerned about the number of computers, do something about it.

  5. By the way, I’m impressed with such a move.I will not forget that where I come from a PC is a luxury and not anyother business tool. And rightly said #5, this is an achievement … Mpulungu, Internet.WOW …. Zed is definately going places.

  6. #1 YOUR FRIENDS ABRAOD HAVE BEEN TRYING TO HELP IN THE COMMUNITY WHERE THEY COME FROM. INSTEAD OF CONGRATULATING MPULUNGU DISTRICT FOR THIS ACHIEVEMENT, YOU ARE BUSY MAKING FAN OF THE MOVE.DO SOMETHING AND YOU WILL BE GREATIFULL AS WELL.

  7. Thats a good one.All the best.We need hard working councils and councils with a plan. One computer can even serve the whole district. The most important step is make the first step

  8. Mwabeleka kapati balombwana baku-Mpulungu Council (You have done a great work gentlepersons from Mpulungu Council). This is the only way ICTs will be seen as bring a difference to the Northern Province people and the rest of the country as a whole. keep it up and let the rest of the Councils promote installation of such facilities in rural Zambia.

  9. Here is an example of a local govt willing to do its part moving into the C21st without waiting to fete a 20 man delegation from lusaka, a parliamentary statement on behalf of His Excellency, the arrival of experts and installation technicians and of course the trucks transporting the equipment.Instead its simply a council statement that in 2 weeks an internet cafe fully accessible to the public, will be fully functional.Instead of condemning LT and the council for posting a story on 3 Pc’s offer to help add to this positive story.Find out how the council can help you help them with more hard and software. If more districts, cities could have half this kind of resolve…..

  10. A journey of a thousand miles starts with one step.Good job Mpulungu district council for taking the first step of exposing the district to the global world.
#1 & #2,instead of complaining about the 3 computers, may you show how practical you`re by sending some computers to increase such numbers.

  11. It’s not true that ZRA is a hindarence to sending computers back home. If i have managed to send five laptops back home how come others fail? In february this year i sent a laptop to my brother in Mbala and we communicate using the internet…..why can’t do it?

  12. please imform them that we dont use hooks and nets to browse, cause once this guys see fish on the screen they will end up breaking the PC,s

  13. The best way for Zambia to get a head into the age of information comes quick, is by at least do the following:

    1) Include National TV into a national computing plan. Give basic skills and understanding by creating interesting and relevant programs sent as often as possible. TV is still probably the best way to give a certain basic understanding in theory, while you watch the practice.

    2) Keep education within computing a 24/7 business. That is to keep every computer available for students 24 hours a day. With few PC and many students, its the best and cheapest way to accelerate NOW.

    3) Use open source software. Don’t get trapped with Microsoft.
Its like a thief in the house. Use Linux…

  14. #21..thanks u see, i wrote that entry in a rush. Buses here are timed. Actually, i saw that immediately after posting but it was time to go!!!.

  15. #22 chapi Nice point ya mukombe am actually impressed..Well i wonder why #1 & #3 i wonder what positive thing you will ever see in your life if you think like that.Am under the impression that you are the kulibonesha type, come on gentlemen give credit where it’s due.

  16. If I am not wrong, the main issue with computers in Zambia is the lack of them. The lack of knowledge could easily be connected to very few computers.

To learn computing, “learning by doing” is the best way.

To get 100% out of the excisting computer park within the educational field, its necessary to do as Uncle Linux says…

Lets those who are especially interested(probably talented) work even when others sleep. The internet work 24 hours normally and EVERY computer in Zambia should be powered and in use 24 hours a day.

The cost to triple the computer park is very high, compared to use the ones here more. 24 hours computing school is the way to go. Geeks and nerds will arise from this

  17. Muliuli Mukwai mwensi kuko Kuvyalo. We are encouraged by the many positive blogs regarding our internet cafe.We believe that introducing an internet cafe in a town that is over 1000km away from the capital 44 years after independence is no mean achievement that deserves support and encouragement. We believe that the no.of computers is not an issue. What’s important is that a poor fisherman of Mpulungu will now be availed an opportunity to blog with you guys. And then maybe maybe…one of you can donate a computer or two.By the way we are vat exempt so donot be afraid of ZRA. Twataizya.
