60 Zimbabwe sex workers deported

Share

The Immigration Department has sent back 60 suspected Zimbabwean sex workers to their country of origin following a raid on some guest houses in Livingstone.

Immigration public relations officer Mulako Mbagweta told ZANIS in Lusaka today that the her department in conjunction with the Zambia police service apprehended 86 people among them Zambians for allegedly engaging in prostitution in the tourist capital.

Ms. Mbagweta said the operation was aimed at getting rid off alleged sex workers from the tourist capital who are reported to have invaded guest houses and other hospitality houses in the city.

She said the 20 Zambians who were also arrested along with the Zimbabweans have since been charged for public nuisance while the rest were released after being screened.

Ms. Mbagweta has since expressed concern at the increased influx of alleged Zimbabwean sex workers in the tourist capital.

She has further cautioned Zambian men to desist from engaging in illicit sex in order to curb HIV/AIDS in the city.

The Public Relations officer who described the trend as saddening observed that the situation would endanger the lives of many Zambians if left unchecked.

Ms. Mbangweta has also called upon other stakeholders such as the Zambia Tourist Board (ZTB) to help curb prostitution through intensified inspections of guest houses regularly so as to ensure that they adhere to the stipulated guidelines.

She also urged ZTB to closely monitor activities in the mushrooming guest houses and close down those that have been turned into brothels.

And the Immigration Department in Kabwe has arrested 20 Congolese nationals believed to have been trafficked into the country via Kasumba Lesa border post.

The immigration Department public relations officer revealed that 3 suspected ring leaders from the group have since been put in custody pending investigations.

Ms. Mbagweta said her department was concern with the growing trend and increase of human traffic cases in the country.

She said it was not the first time that the department was arresting foreign nationals for human trafficking offences.

She attributed light punishment metted on the perpetrators, which does not act as a deterrent measure to would be offenders as one of the causes for the vice.

Ms. Mbagweta has however thanked Zambians for being alert and reporting suspected illegal immigrants to the department and has since urged them not to relent in their efforts to report any suspected illegal immigrant into the country.

  1. ohh ba mudala no more cheap sex for 5pin or 10pin with free accomodation 4 short time.
This is good action, for sure lstone was like a town for prostitutes and not as a trourist capital, Guest houses like Tulyetonje in maramba were full booked by them, roadside and winza. If you visit places they are very dirty and stinking but the council and health inspectors are getting their salaries every month why ?But how did they find their way in zed?

  3. Lets not just wait for the immigration dept, prositution is an offence what is the police doing about it ?Bundle them up in throw them in jail. There are orphans all over because of the vice why can’t people change their minds after all sex is something intended to be enjoyed by couples not just anyhow like dogs.

  4. # Red i “interesting comment there..lol.. you really think sex is intended to be “enjoyed by couples only and not any how like dogs as you put it’ then why is it not practised as intended? What about the women who are raped, children who are sexually abused by men and what have you, are they the ones you compare to as “like dogs” or what? Dont allow to be blinded by a myth stopping you to see an eye for an eye, but a fork for a spade!
If i were a lion i would hunt to eat but am only human and i’ve got to do what a man gotta do and it a’int what ya thinkin’ !!!!!

  5. Why should we have to be nyaulered just mid way? What then will happen to us now that our clients have been sent off.

Life niyo topin’ga cabe! The imigration had better realise that the presence of these sweethearts made Livingstone a tourist destination especially that the tourists would given tandizo paka kumapeto by our guest business partners (sex workers).

Which tourist capital does not have sex workers???

  6. POLICE in Mazabuka have arrested a 44-year-old man from Ngwezi settlement in connection with alleged bestiality.

See what has become of this man because there are no more cheap Zimbabwean prostitutes who used to save him….But on a serious note people a chicken thats just disgusting and pathetic.

Vincent Moonga, who was allegedly caught having sexual intercourse with a chicken on several occasions, was dragged to Mazabuka Police Station by his sister and is currently in detention.

Police said all the seven chickens Moonga allegedly had sex with died immediately after the act prompting the sister to seek his prosecution.(THE POST)

Sorry i left the other part

  8. #8, been to Bangkok yet?? If you have been, your response to #7 is unfounded. Anyway, quite an interesting topic. Police are failing to contain ”batunsimbi’ while the Immigration is having a field day ‘harvesting’ prostitutes in the same town, yet both immigration and police fall under the Ministry of Home Affairs? Could be a matter of which job is more dangerous or which one is lucrative. It’s an odd world indeed.

  9. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THIS IS THE OLDEST PROFESSION IN THE WORLD, IT WAS THERE FROM THE BIBLICAL TIMES AND IT WILL BE THERE WHEN YOU ARE ALL LONG GONE. NOTHING CAN STOP IT, THE GOVERNMENT MIGHT AS WELL HARVEST FROM IT THAN FIGHTING IT

  10. Interesting, South Africa is legalising the trade, Netherlands have what they call red light district, New York has one, Thailand, Singapore, I am told in Singapore actually africans receive a special fee because of their energy and large resources. Anyhow, what is the moral of all this, instead of investing money in immigration department and police to chase women who wantonly take off their under wear for dicks that are rampaging, invest that energy somewhere else. Illegal immigrants are not criminal offenders like batu nsimbi and all. In New York not long ago the crime city of the world is now as queit as wmy village, why, simple, they invested in dealing with the real criminals and not..

  11. women who are just trying to etch out a living. This is a necessary evil and no matter what you do, at the end of it people will still have sex whether illicit or genuine! And the act is even difficult to know when someone is doing it for pleasure and when one is doing it for money. Like one guru said this is the world’s oldest profession and it is happening everywhere even in Moslem countries where Sharia law is applied for such vices. So legalise it and formalise it, let prostitutes register with a council which will monitor their health and let them stand in designated places and do their trade, imagine if pornography was not legal in the us that is a multi billion $ industry from where..

  12. the Government drawa huge taxes some of which comes in through USAID which partners with some CHURCHES!!! to address HIV programmes using what???! SEX MONEY, so be the first to cast the stone!!!

  13. How are we ever going to reduce HIV/AIDS risks like this?for sure, these chaps have to be deported!Prostitution is an offence and just killing our beloved brothers.cheap sex is not the solution pliz!!abash cheap sex!abash prostitution!!hats off to Immigration.

  14. Too bad for my brothers in L/stone. Luck to be in SA where there is an influx of cheap zimbo sex workers. In fact we prefer them to their SA counterparts because they know the job.

  15. #15 Mwiinga, pls spare us the rot. Do you know what you are talking about ….allow them to operate legally. Don’t you know that you are affected directly imagine these women are HIV+ and they slept with this man who is also sleeping with your girl if you are a man or sleeping with your man. They have just created a chain reaction to the spread of AIDS and imagine these Zed men who were sleeping with them live. Thats the price you pay for being unfaithful, the bible rightly puts it the wages of sin is death and these married men went to get their death certificates from these women…shame on you. Mwachisanga echomwalefwaya mwatendwa inama mulyalyonse mwaya kunama ya ku Zim.

  16. Legal or illegal sex is all in one’s mind. How come some people have extra marital affairs and others do not, how come some people have sex with prostitutes and some do not, so legal or illegal people will still have sex with or without someone calling themselves prostitutes. What do you call a man/woman who is getting fringe benefits out of sexual relations. Do they officially qualify as pros??? It can a job, car, house, i mean what is the difference between a pros and a gold digger? And is it true that most HIV is contracted from Pros?? Do not be easily convinced by theories that have no basis how do you explain the fact that in countries where its legal the HIV rates are low?

  17. Mwiinga #15. Just to clarify legalizing prostitution in SA. The Police Commissioner, Jackie Selebi (on suspension for drug related charges), speaking to the Parliamentary Safety and Security Committee suggested legalizing prostitution as part of his public safety plan toward 2010. He was roundly criticized. The matter has since been shelved.

  18. I personally don’t see anything wrong with legalizing prostitution though its a terrible vice. I work in HIV/AIDS field in the sub-region and in Zambia, i worked on a project that targeted Commercial Sex Workers and Truck Drivers. We set points in border towns providing BCC messages, condoms and treatment. Because of this organized effort, we were able to reduce STI infections significantly (correlated to reduced HIV infection). The CSWs used to tell us how they were forced “ku pasako” baPolice as payment and many of them refused to to use condoms. With consistent and correct use of condoms we were able to stem off some new infections. The fight against HIV would be more effective…

  19. if you are not interested in prostitutes it wont make a difference whether the trade is legalised or not.Your moral conscience wont allow you to leave your wife for a quickie. So idont know what the hype is all about. Are we going back to the day we banned channel O with a lame excuse of being a christian nation. Pipo know there is AIDS and it will be by choice for anyone to indulge, and if that is the case one has the right . if howeveer you despise prostitution you wont even think about going for a short time.

  20. with targeted interventions like brothels. If you tell a person something over and over, they are bound to do it. Look, some of the clients for these prostitutes were pastors and other “morally upright” citizens. So if you have a stop gap measure that will target the “host” and ensure high condom usage, this will reduce. So Lady L, if you set up a formal structure like a brothel and put in all the efforts to fight HIV, the chain reaction will stop. So, Register all prostitutes and have them get practicing certificates from health. The client will then even ask to see the certificate. The added advantage is that you can even tax them

  21. indeed Zambian are full of excuses, we always want to blame something or someone. Prostituition in Zambia is on a very low scale compared to RSA.we now want to say AIDS is because of prostitutes. come on pipo we have brains dont we? if you see a nice car in the showroom it does not mean you must have it. unless you want it and you have the capacity. the same with prostitutes, the fact that they are there does not mean you must have them. if you indulge then you are just weak so dont give excuses

  22. The sad thing althougth is that prostituion in Zambia has manifested its self at different levels. There are more white collar prostitutes than street prostitutes (CSW). In other words, there are more working women, school girls and housewives engaging in (unprotected) sexual activities in exchange for gifts with multiple partners than CSW. So we need to address this angle as well. But unless there is enough resources to go round our vulnerable women (non-street prostitutes) and men with more disposable incomes keep their zips ups, we will still have prostitutes and HIV. So legalize prostitution and MAY BE we can reap rewards for all.

  23. #23 thanks for the clarification, with South Africa am not surprised. Ain’t they the ones that had denied that HIV was a crisis until it became one. Who knows after Jay Z takes over in 2009 they will change their minds. For #15 I see you, as having serious problems with men and unfortunately you have targeted the men in your debate but the problem is two pronged, just like there had to be a willing seller and willing buyer, so let us deal with this equation as Kandanji says. Otherwise prostitution is here to stay…

  24. Indeed prostitution is here to stay as long as you men are they to buy it at whatever prize. Most of you men are hippocrites, you are same pipo who buy sex and after enjoying it you condemn it. HIPPOCRITES! NO CLIENT NO BUSINESS, YOU GIVE UP!

  25. #30 well said, so tell your girls to stop peddling it. There are alot of products that have gone off the market and people have gone on with their lives, so if your girls stop opening their legs even without being provoked i can assure you men will turn to porno and masterbate thereafter!

  26. If we were to be more critical, we’d have to deport a good number of our own women for prostitution. Some of you met your women in rather dodgy circumstances so stop with the preaching, we’ve all had a slice of the brown bread.

  27. Mwanakashi 30#. I have willingly paid (cash) for (protected) sex with a bar hooker in the past. I experimented and realized i didn’t enjoy it. This was a once off event that i don’t regret. I have also paid (without realizing) for sex with more “decent” moma who pretended to be in relationship with me. I thought i was in a serious relationship and contemplated marriage. i was paying her varisty fees. Apparently someone else was paying for clothes & another for groceries. I was lucky i found out early when a “concerned” person alerted me. I met with the other 3 guys (all single and thinking they were in serious relationship). Again, not regrets. It made me wiser. Nindani hule?

  28. We have to establish the root causes of prostitution. If we go 20 years back when Zim was ticking, Zim did not export sex workers at all. Now that the economy is in shumbles, everyone is trying to survive by all means. I was impressed by one Zimbo SW I hooked up. Her room was filled with groceries and building materials ready to be sent to her family in Zim.So poverty is the number one causer of prostitution.

  29. #31 Sex workers cannot stop selling, bcoz its their livehood, for them its business, it is up to you men to sipp up your d**k and lock up your money in the safe. Sex workers will not force you and or unsipp your d**k or steal your money in safe.

  30. So provide alternative livelihoods for them, for men, you see men even their physical make up allows them to throw their dicks anyhow and believe me, if their girls close their legs this will be a thing of the past.

  31. #38 Alternative and permanent livelihood for them is for all men to to cut their d**ks, since their fail to sipp them up!!

  32. #26 Kandanji, when you give freedom to people and tell them its okey to sleep with prostitutes they will over do it. Look at what happend to that footballer Ronaldo he thought he was making out with prostitutes only to discover they were men and now the whole world new and the man is apologising and he’s so embarrassed, why would be embarrased if it was morally right? As it is already men are defiling children and raping what happens when one has no money to pay that prostitute then the little girls suffer. At least when it is illegal someone will think twice before meeting with a prosss!

  33. #41 the best solution is for you to permanently stitch your hole since your legs are always 180 degrees wide open.

  34. What is happening to our Tonga brothers in Southern Province, first it was a cow producing half muntu half cow. Now its chickens being defiled by a grown up human being. SOMETHING IS TOUBLE WRONG WITH OUR BROTHERS IN SP. What a sick world we live in!!

  35. Common brothers and sisters. This doesn’t have to degenerate to this level. Sex is a hot topic but we don’t have to stoop so low and exchange such vulgarities. Lets exchange views and not insults.

  36. Theory:aids is caused by prosititution.
Hypothesis:zambian govt has despatched zim prositutes.
    Conclusion:Zambia is free from aids

  37. With kind of talk, no wonder most of my childhood friends in Zambia are dead of AIDS.

  38. Am told sata will pass through livingstone on his way to lusaka. Since he has that escalating and galloping appetite for women, he will complain about LPM’s government, particularly the immigration officers.

  39. #41 mind yo words,i dnt think u r a woman cz i dnt expect such words frm an african lady.If u r a lady then u cud b one of those women who hunt men 4 sex.u cnt tell me u dnt go horny u fool.and if u do hw do u overcome it?

  40. I personally feel prostitutes(CSWs) are not to blame for the widespread of Hiv/aids…how many prostitutes have you heard of die from AIDS compared non prostitutes.I believe the so called non prostitutes are dying in larger numbers…for your information current research states that the disease is spread more in the so called “SWEETHEART” realationship(s)….THE BIGGEST STEP TO REDUCING HIV IS KNOWING YOUR HIV STATUS…so cut the crap about Zim prostitutes and get yourself tested!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  41. I agree with #53. Prostitutes insist on the use of condoms. No wonder they are dying in numbers. In ‘sweetheart relationships’, it is rare to practice protected sex.

  42. I agree with #53. Prostitutes insist on the use of condoms. No wonder they are NOT dying in numbers. In ‘sweetheart relationships’, it is rare to practice protected sex.

  43. I understand shakafuswa is shifting National Slaughter Assembly Brothel to Livingstone bcoz in Lusaka you pipo on this blog talk too much and infact for his easy access to sex workers from Zim. He is also tired of zedians sex workers and bcoz their fees is gone up to due fuel and m/meal increases.

  44. #55 and 53,dont know what you are talking about,am born en raised in stone, non of the prositutes i knew since 1986 are alive, they are all gone, you reap what you saw, those that s0w in prositution shall reap sh*t,God can not be mocked. Moreover its poverty that prompts them to run the streets,so if you gat cash and you are infected like most of the politicians, you can demand live by just increasing the fee a little bit,the same thing happens in Europe, its a sick society we live in,and I see a lot of mature fools lost in this evil, whats the benefit of what you are in support, remember we shall all give account of what we say and support someday,it wont be long.

  45. Poverty is not the root cause of prostitution and whether u like it or not, prostitution will always be there. Want a world with no prostitution??? Became a committed christian and go to Heaven. Isn’t that what christians hope for? If u ask me… prostitution is more pronounced in the biggest economy in the world than anywhere else. It all comes down to personal conviction and what someone values in life.

  46. Here in Shangombo we slaughter them live gearone to five. We never have to worry about HIV. our villages are full of village chickens fresh from the initiation ceremony. Keep your problems in towns. VIVA VILLAGE LIFE IN RUGS BUT HAMMER “LIVE GEAR THROUGHOUT”
