-Nchanga Rangers have received a donation of K10 million from Kitwe industrial rubber products manufacturer Piggott Maskew for the 2008 season.

Piggott Maskew Medardo Strorti made the donation to Rangers chairman Richard Kazala in Chingola on Monday.

“It comes at a time when we need to instill morale and confidence in the team in order to keep on track with our ambition of winning the FAZ/KCM Premier Division league championship,”Kazala said.

Rangers, coached by Kenneth “Bubble” Malitoli, are currently 5th on the Faz Premier League table with 11 points from 7 games played and one in hand.

The Chingola team next league game is against Kabwe Warriors away in a Week 9 fixture.

– Faz has cancelled the Zambia Under-20’s trip tomorrow to Germany to defend their Insel Youth Cup crown in Germany.

The team was due to depart for Germany on Wednesday afternoon after being in camp for the last two days in Lusaka preparing for the tournament that will run from May 9 to 11.

No reason was given for the cancellation of the trip to the tournament and the team broke camp just after lunch on Tuesday.

Zambia Under-20 won the Insel Youth Cup last year when they participated in the tournament as part of the squads one-month pre-Fifa 2007 World Youth Cup training camp in Europe.

The team beat Danish top-flight team Randers youth side 6-5 on post-match penalties to lift the 2007 Insel Youth Cup title.

  1. He is a French Man,only hope he can speak some good English ’cause we risk spending more by engaging an interpretor & third party messages are mostly distorted.

  2. #3 “FAZ has settled for little known Frenchman, Herve Renaud as the new Zambia soccer coach, it was learnt in Lusaka yesterday.
Renaud, who is expected in Zambia on Friday was preferred after efforts to engage former German star, Lothar Matheus and an unnamed Dutchman fell through. He is currently assistant coach, to Ghana trainer Claude Le Roy and will also help Zambia in the on-going African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers.Sources told the Times Renaud was highly recommended and was in line with FAZ’s financial offer which was rejected by the other applicants for the job.KCM is expected to pay Renaud’s salary under a deal struck with FAZ last year.” Courtesy Times of Zambia 07/05/08

  3. Infact this French guy needed to work along side Ba Phiri sad abena Kalusha & Munaile seem to have their own agenda of getting rid of all their perceived enemies/pipo they don’t like. And now instead of exposing one great local coach in the name of Phiri, they’ve gotten new assistant coaches who have failed to tick at their local clubs.

  4. I am not happy with the new acquisition at all i have seen his reume and i can comfortably say that on paper this new coach is as good as patrick phiri or maybe even worse he just happens to be leRoys former assistant and he is white

  5. Steve Keshi would not have been bad .Lets hope the new guy understands Zambia s weakneses .In any case all the best.Phiri was not bad either ,its just that he was more of a local coach and not a Manager.I am saying this beacuse the guy could not monitor the progress of his foreign based players. He was busy looking for Sinkala when its was clear the guy was in hospital, never knew how sichone was doing so as mbesuma. He was busy talking about Mido when everyone knew that he would play for Egypt. In all i think phiri should been taken back to U17 or u20 u23 or left as an assistant

  6. Well, we wait and see as usual. We hope he is the man for us, we must have faith in the decision by FAZ that he can lead the way.

  7. Bad news for guys at ZNBC. They will twist their tongues several times trying to pronounce the name for the new coach.. LOL.

  8. FAZ again; is this the best we can do? What role did Ghana coach Claude Le Roy play in the recruitment process? From what I am reading, it appears he had the final say and probably negotiated with the Ministry of Sports and not FAZ for his assistant and obviously good friend to be hired; FAZ spokesman Munaile is in the dark (Zambia Daily Mail Report – When contacted, FAZ spokesperson Emmanuel Munaile said he could not comment on the issue because he was attending the National Constitution Conference. “Which Ministry official gave you that information? We will only make our position known at tomorrow’s press briefing,” Munaile said). Zambians, please see Renard’s CV and be the judges.
    Renard

  9. Continued –

Renard played as a defender for French sides AS Cannes, Stade de Vallauris and SC Draguignan before hanging his boots in 1998. He has coached SC Draguignan in France, Shanghai Shenhua in the People’s Republic of China, Cambridge United in England and France’s AS Cherbourg.
I think this is another rushed job that will come to nothing.

  10. Its good to get such an unsung coach, because he would want to prove a point. Moreover he has been in Africa and understands the African culture unlike someone who would come straight from Spain to Africa for the very first time.you expect problems like Jan Brouwer. Let us give him the benefit of doubt. High profile coaches have failed in Africa.

  11. Look at Perreira, he has resigned without winning or achieving anything for South Africa. Africa reaping some cash, he flies out. You can mention all those big foreign coaches that had been hired by Ghana, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Cameroun, etc how many have won trophies? Only one or two.

  12. Moreover the guy know west African football, this might be a plus point for zambia in match against Togo.

  13. I’m with you Chips. It is a surprise, but i can see some of the thinking on this one. He must have ambition because he is relatively new. He should know the opposition up north and west, not just Togo, that we are likely to face. I have read this article and he seems to have sound football thinking.

When you hire a coach you don’t buy qualification on a platter.

  14. At the Nations Cup in Ghana, Renard was handed a one-match ban by the Disciplinary Committee of the Confederation of African Football and missed the quarterfinal game between Ghana and Nigeria. Renard also coached Cambridge United when they were in League Two of English football. He was sacked as manager of Cambridge following the club’s disappointing performances.Renard, who took over from fellow Frenchman Claude Le Roy in the summer of the season 2004/2005, was shown the door after Cambridge’s eighth loss in nine games

  15. Well I guess the young man has to prove his critics wrong, starting with ME, his number one critic!

  16. oh boy,all of a sudden i feel like i want to puke. This dude failed at cambridge a div 2 out fit and kalu and them fools rushed to get this joke.the dogs have come into zambia football

  17. But just how was he appointed?? Was the post advertised? Anyway I think we may have problems in FAZ at a later stage. Well let us wait and see
