Share

The Zambia national team will play Libya away in an international friendly match next week.

Faz says the game will be part of Zambia’s 2010 World/Africa Cup Group 11qualifier away to Togo on May 30.

The game against Libya will be played at an unnamed venue in Libyia on May 19.

The match is expected to be Zambia’s new French-born coach Herve Renard’s first match in charge following his recent appointment last week as head trainer to replace Patrick Phiri whose contract came to an end on march 30.

Camping dates and other details of Zambia’s pre-Africa/World Cup qualifier preparations against Togo will be announced this week

This will be the first time Zambia and Libyia will meet since 2001 when they beat their hosts 4-2 in Tripoili in a 2002 world cup qualifying tie.

  1. It seems now we’re showing abit of seriousness in our preparations, it’s a good positive sign plse lets have more friendly games even with high profile countries like Brazil.

  2. you arre on the spot #1. Lets get the boys to become confident. They need to play high profile teams/Nations and play against big names like Kaka, Robinho and so on and so forth.

Otherwise, this appears to be a good start FAZ. keep it up.

  3. Good start by FAZ, and all the best to the boys. Renaira we need a good result in Togo. By the way who do you know that Togo have Adebayo.

  4. Libya is a good start. We have to start from where we are, then go up as we get better. All the best Herve Renard and the boys.
We also need new stadiums in our country. 1 in Livingstone, two in Lusaka, one in Ndola and another in Kitwe. Who has Levy’s number? I want to talk to Him about this.

  5. Hopefully the guys will get time to climatise. We need to see preps that are more like for like, so we play a team that is more in the style of the Togo.

  6. Let us give the Kalusha led executive and the new the coach more support. The coach also needs to assess the all the proffessionals before the are given a place. We do not want to see a repeat of the Mbesuma saga in Ghana

  7. THE Football Association of Malawi (FAM) is considering engaging the services of former Chipolopolo Boys coach Patrick Phiri on temporary basis for the post of technical advisor ahead of the joint 2010 Africa/World Cup qualifiers.

According to the Daily News in Malawi, FAM wanted to hire Phiri after they were fascinated with how Zambia put up a brave fight against the African champions Egypt during the Nations Cup in February.

“Some members feel that his overall experience is good for the Flames. Further to that Egypt, struggled against Zambia. It was suggested that he should be hired on temporary basis as we start the qualifiers to help our technical panel,” said the source.

  8. I like that.. Libya aint bad. Also gives FAZ and the fans a chance to assess the capabilities of our new coach. When was the last time Zambia played in a noteworthy friendly? Not bad Kalusha.

    Zambia for 2010

  9. Libya, is a good start because Zambia needs to start from the bottom and then build up to the stronger teams . And also this gives the new coach an opportunity to take a close look on the players. Zambia is on the right direction as far as, on the rebuilding phase. Because rebuilding is always the hardest however, at least some things are been done. Good luck fox.

  10. Good start but look for more stronger oppenents from North and West Africa. Even South America.

  11. I hear the game will be played on an Oil field. With the current high prices of oil, I would like to ask the Zambian players to have at least 5 litres each of “chibundiza” to get that oil and reduce the cost of doing business in Zambia…
