Swaziland 2 – 1 Togo

Share

Swaziland beat Togo 2-1 to go top of Group 11 in the 2010 World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Siza Dlamini opened the scoring for the home side ten minutes into the second half.

Collen Salelwako doubled Swaziland’s lead almost twenty minutes later to make the score 2-0.

Togo attempted to make a comeback as Adekamni Olufado scored two minutes from time.

But it was too little too late from the Hawks.

Swaziland will face Zambia in the next round of qualifiers which take place from 13-15 June.

  1. Cheers to swaziland.I guess the Hawks recieved a shock indeed.makes the chances better for zambia if we beat swaziland next week.

  2. Zambia must win……………………..ba choma can u say something, last week when zambia lost u passed stupid comments like u r nt a Zambian,we mbushi we choma……….go chipolopolo.

  3. Underrate your so cold small footballing nation at your peril. Mashaba boasted that he was not concerned about Zambia or Togo and has been proven right. Zambia now no they have a game. Lose to Swaziland and it all over barring a miracle. This game is the most important game for Zambia because after this its two home games. Win both home games and I hink we will make the next round. Its now open and any team including ma swazi can take the group so watch out my chipolopolo!!!! You have been warned.

  4. Remember Zambia vs Chad, these boys can be funny at times. When you expect them to win and the pressure is on, they wilt at the most critical moment. That said, I can give these boys a chance since they pulled the plug on South Africa and made it to AFCON 08. I think we have the quality to beat Swazi if we can keep our defense locked and front line sharp and ready to pounce when given a chance. Zambia should aim for 2 quick goals in 30min and go for the kill in the second half. I think the boys need to have a plan in mind for them to execute on the field. Sometimes it seems like they are just thrown on the pitch and asked to play and don’t know what to do with the ball.

  5. Forget him and move forward. Its his loss Zambia has many talented strikers especially Mayuka , Kola and many more up and coming ones so as much as we miss a fit Mbesuma, he will learn a big and bitter lesson so lets move on and give others a chance to develop. Nuff said!!!

  6. Firstly, let me congratulate Swaziland. Honestly, I thought they would not do better than get a draw out of the game. Secondly, I want to refer to Coach Renard’s comments in The Post. It appears the issue of discipline affects a lot of players, but we only seem to hear about the Mbesuma’s of this world as they are more established players. I believe with discipline based approach, Zambia can go far, because, the talent is there. All the best to the team next weekend.

  7. I am a Zedian studying at the Uni of Swaziland. I had the opportunity the game between Swaziland and Togo. I would like to warn Chipolopolo boys against complacency. Swaziland is a very dangerous but sleepy African giant. Do not be fooled by the FIFA rankings, they count for nothing when 11 men square against 11 men. History also means nothing in these kind of games. Swaziland have a very good midfield that will send chipolopolo packing with envy. Dennis Masina is the main man alongside Tony Tsabedze and Siza Dlamini. Some african giants such as Swaziland and Botswana are starting to rise up from their sleep.

  8. Good news for Zambia tho we must create our own fate not just hoping for other teams to do us a fever. Swaziland must fall this weekend.

  9. No wonder these less populated giants always give the most populated nations a run for their money. The only reason why we beat the Swazis and The Mighty Zebras from Botswana recently is because FAZ starved them and denied them good sleep by lodging them into some dodgy accomodation (hostels not hotels)infested with rats and mosquitoes. No hot water no food and then the bumpy pitch…let’s be fair to other Africans and even the playing ground. Dirty mind games are not good for the world’s best celebrated game…

  10. as usual…Zambia’s fate in the hands of others. Typical, Zambia will soon find itself needing to win THREE of its last TWO games….hahaha…what a circus!!!

  11. Tuka ba lopola ama Swazi ichine chine, we shall teach those Dlamini’s a soccer lesson they will not forget. The Mighty Chipolopolo will rise to the occasion yet again….

  12. viva swazi, that increases our chances of topping the group so i hope our French Man,Ba Kalu and Lwandamina are Planing something serious for next week….
    Chipolopolo!!!puteni ichimwela..

  13. All you vivaing Swazis, take note. I think these results should be analised in context. Togo lost not because the Swazis were good but rather that they(Togo) were disorganized and have had problems during the run up to this. The fact that Zambia failed to take advantage of this on a neutral ground and Swaziland did, really gets me worried and says alot about our new team and Coach. Anyway, I will leave the rest to great Analysts like Sibs & Chapi to break this down for us.

  14. The Swazi have done us a big favor. By the way Shakes Mashaba the swazi coach has been quoted saying Zambia is not a big deal. May be we need to take this supposedly under-dogs serious.

  15. Some people are not worth responding to. Swaziland must fall. They have been never an issue. And will never be. The only thing we need to fear is complacency as other wise people have said on this blog. Zambia has never employed dirty tactics on any one. Those outside the country must not be mislead by simpletons. Here we follow CAF regulations religiously and we are charitable sometimes to a point of annoyance. But that is Zambia never avenging the wrongs we receive elsewhere. We batter them on the pitch. Wapya weak Swazi shields mpolo mpolo izo! Go Chipolopolo and conquer! NO EXCUSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. Bane ha! Ba Swazi, anyway Siza Dlamini is a world class player that boy, if he was european he would have been featuring for Arsenal. Anyhow ba Zambia this is out group, ba Swazi nabatwafwa, let us just complete the job, beat swaziland home and away, beat togo pa Home, the results of the Swazi/Togo game become irrelevant!

  17. No words…was Adebayor playing? anyway Swazi would do anything to qualify for 2010 africa and world… We need to load our guns and gun down the swazi by all means home and away. good lak bullets…. Ivory coast 0 Madagscar 0 this is what we call soccer.

  18. Bola yavuta ayi? The great Cote D’ Ivoire being held to a goalless draw by Madagascar, where was the game being played or should I assume the way the results are reported is the way the game was played?

  19. Guys i have learned not to count the chicks before the hatch. Our team at times when you expect them to win choke. The Chad game is a good reminder. We may have a better team than Swaziland on on paper but on the day of the game it’s 11 against 11.The most prepared team will carry the day.The Swazi coach Mashaba is an intelligent coach who said Swazi players lacked the drive & passion when playing for their country when he took over the Swazi job. Here is Mashaba’s record as Bafana coach.

I would like to agree with Kasuba #24 that the Supersport duo of Dennis Masina and T.Tsabedze are good players.Especially Masina he is a joy to watch in the midfield.

  20. I see no need for us to be excited about the result of TOGO/SWAZI game. we need to go and fight if we have to get anything in swaziland. I really feel sorry for 1 collins Mbesuma, i think he is just messing up his career. The coach gave him an opportunity to prove himself even with his lack of fitness but he just doesnt show up. But i pray he makes it today since its the dealine.

  21. the talent is there, our boys ukuchaka balachaka but they sleep in some games.the guys should be shown zidane, young ronaldo clips.those guys can fight.we need the punch, like the 2nd goal.zed vs bots

  22. #31 at this point Mbesuma needs Milingo’s help, this is something spiritual, I am beginning to think!!! Takwaba guys! Takwaba!

  23. forget about Collins. Let him hang like the rest of the punks (Charles Musonda etc). He thinks soccer is an individual sport? the young star Mayukwa or even Kola will soon take his place.

  24. Zambian players lack despline, once they are called to represnt Zambia, they think they are un touchable, they think they own Zambia. I think the new Coach will teach these guys how they should conduct themselves. Zambian players are like little kids in KINDER GARDEN SCHOOL, they don’t think on their own, they lack common sense, they are hard to understand. They have no vision and they dont even know why they respresent their country ZAMBIA.

  25. No. 31. Spiritiual help! My foot, that will just heal his spirit and not his lack of fitness. He must re-organise himself otherwise there are so many young lads who are ready and willing to play for mother Zambia.

  26. Mwinga #33.Mbesuma is a natural goal scorer despite his weight problems i believe the guy has a lot to offer it’s a pity he is missing an opportunity to get his career back on path.Maybe you right that is Spiritual.

  27. #39 Sibs did you watch my Germany play yesterday? Iam waiting for todays games from group C(GROUP OF DEATH)Go Italy

  28. Sibs #39, I am actually mourning, I saw this guy Mbesuma an woodlands stadium, COSAFA 2006, I could not believe we had a player who could score goals (against Swaziland ironically)like that in this country, reminded me of Romario in 1994 when one commentator straight out of superlatives simply said “here is a man who makes scoring look so easy”; This Mbesuma boy would have gone places, but discipline that is why i think ni vibanda ivi! Otherwise Sibs I agree with you this guy has skill he is a marvel to watch, the same thing happened to Emmanuel Zulu, I watched the boy pa independence an under 20 qualifier against Lesotho, ha! That boy had skill.

  29. Italy waya! I hear you 40! Nivana #38, ningulu ishi unless walishiba ko ing’anga who can exorcise this young man of this demon like stronghold to bad behaviour and obesity. If we can sort out one thing (spirit) then everything else will fall in place. Look at comment #30, just what approaching everything with the right spirit can turn tables.

  30. It is not over until chipolopolo says so. We have to be ready for Swazilznd and make sure we come back with three points to make our lives easier becuase this competition is becoming trickier every weekend.

    All the best ba Zambia

  31. Zambia is in one of the weakest group. We should hence not depend on others (swazis) to do a job for us. For the change let’s focus and get the job done ourselves.

  32. ZAMBIA WILL BEAT SWAZILAND. WE HAVE A SERIOUS COACH. I FEEL SORI FOR MBESUMA. HE WILL BE DROPPED FOR LIFE. MAYBE WE LET HIM LOOK FOR A CLUB. CUZ MAYBE HE IS BUSY WITH HIS AGENT. BUT WE WILL THE FINISH WITH 9 POINTS IN THIS GROUP. ZAMBIA MWANA MAYO!

  33. New Passports next month
The Issuance of new passports is expected to start next month.

Home Affairs Permanent Secretary, Susan Sikaneta said the government has already put into place necessary logistics such as equipment for the entire process which kick start’s in July.

She told ZNBC news that training and recruitment of staff who will mann the new office is expected to start this month end.

The Home Affairs Permanent Secretary noted that Zambia decided to join the international community by bringing in a new passport with sophisticated features that cannot be forged.

  34. Hi chaps,

I am elated with the Sihlangu. They have really done us a favour by beating Adebayor and his boys.

As for Collins, that guy is’t serious. Despite getting warned by virtually every coach in Europe about his weight and fitness he hasn’t listened?! Now the Frenchman is being frustrated too.

Also, what about the other two defenders that have failed to report to camp. I know I must sound like a stuck record, but I don’t think J. Musonda will be missed. I think this might actually be a blessing in disguise.

I am glad Renaud is going round the grounds to watch local games, that is what Poulsen did and he unearthed some gems!

  35. Zambia will top this group at the end of the qualifiers. I agree that Swaziland are doing well and have good players. I still believe our boys are a group of chaps who rise to the occassion when least expected. Look at what happened in SA (3-1 to Zambia). The only problem is that we first wait until its too late to top the group like what happened after hammering Bafana.
Otherwise, Zambia will top the group.

  36. stop talking about my disppearance pliz people.i have enough money to feed my family.
i quit zambian footbal because of your ungrateful comments.i wish all the best.
how ever im trieng to establish myself in europe and good for the game against swazi

  37. All I can do is wait as I do not want to raise my hopes. After analysisng the matches played last and this weekend. I have come to believe that the so-called smaller teams seems to be up-setting giants. Who new that Lesotho can come from 3-0 down to score two goals against Ghana. Kenya beating Guinea 2-0, etc.
I can only wish our Chipolopolo boys good luck. We just need to prepare adequately well against the Isihlangu to avoid embarrassment.

  38. so it is serious that the big boy has quity zambian football.i thought someone was trying to impersonate mbesuma.i have just read the paper that the boy is still at large

  39. last week mashaba said that togo and and zambia were not a big deal for swaziland.i can now see that his dreams a becoming realised.zambia will fall even with a bigger magin.if togo lost 2 to 1 then zambia will loose 3 to 0

  40. congrats to Swazi for beating Togo. Zambia has now a far better chance of qualifying if they can beat Swaziland. We need to prepare adequately for the encounter for us to have a result.

  41. i am strategising the best method to use to beat the chipolopolo boys.we will earsily win them than we did to togo.we will qualify to the world cup at the expense them.reports the times of swaziland on the front page

  42. Swaziland beating Togo is a blessing in disguise, Zambia has an opportunity to wrap this group up. Now they need to pump swaziland with atleast 4 goals which is possible. I saw the game Zambia Played againist Togo we outplayed them and as for swaziland, they must pray to which ever god they pray to because we will beat them so hard that their ancestors will be so dizzy enough to resurrect.

  43. To 54 Mashaba, it is considered illegal for zambia to fall againist minows like swaziland at full international level with the chipolopolo fully equiped with a team led by the Katongo bros. For swaziland, beating zambia will always remain a fantasy.

  44. go zambia go, go zambia go, chipolopolo niziii!!!! im behind you whether win or lose, chipolopolo for life.

  45. It good to learn that people with good analytical thinking like Nemesis exist on this blog. I am not disregarding the other bloggers contributions. But I like the way Nemesis #58 put it.

  46. Swaziland has indeed sent a wake up message to all the group mates. All of us never expected Swaziland to out class called stars from west Africa. I know the Chris Katongo led chipolopolo boys can beat Swaziland throughly. But the question still remains, in most cases we have failed to defend our comfortably leading matches. In short our defense is at times worrying. They are permeable. Let us learn from the Afcon game against the Indomitable Lions. I feel Elijah Tana and Sichone Moses should be considered. In the midfield now that Isaac Chansa is serving a match ban, we need the likes of Andrew Sinkala to replace him. Remember the game against South Africa, how sinkala played.

  47. #58 I am Swazi man. i don wanna say anything now cos no one gave us a chance against Togo but we led 2-0 until they scored towards the end of the game. Swaziland has beaten the so called giants before ` ask Zimbabwe ur cousins…this is NOT A FLUKE`the KING’S SHIELD IS BULLET PROOF. Amani

  48. 57 & 58 props, you are the one! go zambia go! go zambia go! in health and in sickness chipolopolo forever. Actually rumour has it a jail has been for this illegality to be implemented should the 0.00001% change that zambia is beaten comes forth.

  49. On a very good day Zambia can beat Swaziland 3-0. On an average day Zambia can draw 0-0 against Swaziland away. On a very bad day Swaziland can beat the hell out of Chipolopolo 4-0. If u don agree with me Madagascar was held to a goaless draw by the Ivory Coast, Ghana escaped by a whisker against the crocodiles of Lesotho. This is football bro..it is not calculus or trigonometry. It will depend on who is hungrier on the day..

  50. On a very bad day Zambia committed primary school errors to allow Cameroon to humiliate them 5-1. That’ts what I mean by avery bad day..

  51. some pipo are allegic to comfort. Mbesuma has declared himself unfit and not ready to regain his form. If he had wanted to regain his form he would have been in the camp. shame the boy has lost hope. ma ma ma mia. # 64 65 Mwiinga chikasa shani?

  52. #67 Dlamini, Zambia can use the under 23 against the Swazis and still win. It is not being over confident or arrogant. If we use the senior team, we will switch off half their brains and still WIN!! Check-out a cricket score-line this saturday. Ba Zambia chipolopolo..

  53. Girl of my dreams what’s up #68? How is the home? Are my five star privileges still open. Instead of discussing bedroom issues, Chi mbesuma is foolish ningulu ishi, now he is not contactable!

  54. To hell with you am enjoying my money. I will still play somewhere in europe. my manager makaab has assured me, what is Zanbia?

  55. ha ha ha hah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha I am sure that is what is going on in your mind Mr Collins Mbesuma; HFR – (Highest Failure Rate)

  56. Swaziland must be living in cloud nine ! come sun come rain and as long as the sun rises from the east! The mountain boyiz will fall.

  57. Swaziland beating Zambia, my foot. Those mountain boys will be whipped severely and know that abakulu bakulu. We will teach them a lesson in their own backyard. My Prediction 2 nil in favour of Chipolopolo!!!

  58. #62 i watched Tana over the weekend he scored the winner for Nchanga rangers (2-1) even though he foolishly caused the penalt which gave lusaka dynamos the early lead. Believe you me fellow Zedians you do not want to see this guy play in the national team, he is sluggish, slow and for lack of a better word lazy to deserve a competitive place with the Chipolopolo!! He is better off slaughtering women and drinking in Chiwempala.
I think the team featured against Togo was the one and is ok for the duty against Swaziland, i was glad the coach gave Clifford enough chance to play… Viva chilopolopo! or sipolopolo as my Lozi friends would vibe!!

  59. Togo ! Togo ! Togo ! How the mighty have fallen ! Saved by the referee in a game against Zambia. Togo! you don,t just pick unorganised team thinking you can walk into swaziland and fly over swazi! name playing in football is long gone. Zambia, my Zambia ! My chipolopolo boys My fresh of my fresh my motherly team, don`t bring shame to my beloved blessed Zambia. Go to Swaziland and run for those 90minutes like an eagle on the seashore and hit the target like a sniper empowered with a 4 copper bullets faced with 4 lions. what i mean is give them 4 goals !

  60. Our players want to prove to the new coach that they deserve a place in the national team. With this motive in their minds chances of wining are certainly high.

  61. #8 I have always believed in this that
    1. Either History can repeat itself or
    2. History is not repeated.
I will go for number 2. With the current coach, am sure most players especially defenders with time will stop making school boy errors. Its true there are no longer small teams in Africa. Before Ghana played lesotho, Essien hoped for a 1-0 win over Lesotho. Zambia must work up from its slumber. If the under 20-23 national team can beat the senior Swaziland national team, am sure the Big boys will shoot the swazis. Good luck.

  62. Its like Mbesuma has really resigned from playing for Zambia, his relatives are saying that, they do not know where he is and he does not like the talk about his fitness. He has withdrawn himself, which is too bad instead of him training hard and regaining his former self. Meanwhile Renard has dropped him from the Team. Too bad for our once hero.

  63. HAH! For real there no small teams any longer.I would like to congrattulate tha swazi’s for helping us out but man watch out Zambia is coming like a hungry Eagle ready to pounce on any dead fish it see’s in the lake.So watch out Swazi’s we coming for you!! Go chipolopolo Go!!

  64. #79 this is the bad spirit I was talking about, anyway I also read that in the Post of Monday and quite honestly Mbesuma needs help not condemnation.

  65. If Swaziland can do it I guess we can beat Togo when they come to Zed. Hey, quite impressive result for Swazis.

  66. If Swaziland can also do it I guess we can beat Togo when they come to Zed. Hey, quite impressive result for Swazis.

  67. Good lord special thanks go to Swailand for having beaten Togo to put Chipolopolo boys back in contention. However I urge my fellow Country men and women that when our national team goes to Mbabane there is need to be cautious because what Swailand did to Togo can also come to us.
Bane lets support the Chipolopolo boys all the way till the job is done and let the new coach give chance to the eperienced players like Sichone, Sinkala and the rest to bring balance in the team.

  68. Bane I am very disappointed with Mr Kajiira #83,yet so impressed with Mpopo-RSA #82.Honestly kwena can somebdy of all things just predict for Chipolopolo’s failure.Mr Kajiira please style up.

  69. Shakes’: Bring on Zambia!
    BY THAMI PHAKATHI

    (At Somhlolo Stadium)

LOBAMBA – Forget about Zambia’s feared striker Chris Katongo: the nation’s pride coach Ephraim ‘Shakes’ Mashaba badly wants to win Sunday’s game.

Interviewed after yesterday’s pulsating training session at the Somhlolo Stadium, the South African born coach said they would leave no stone unturned in their bid to annex the maximum points at stake.

“It’s a must win game for us. We need to win it at all costs to make sure we proceed. It is true that the further you go in this competition the tougher the games get. But we are working hard with the players and we know what our opponents are up to,” he said.

  70. “Just like Togo so is Zambia. They are known to have a number of good players who play abroad but in football the trick is that its not who you have but it’s what that player can do. We are not playing against names here but opponents who are equally capable like us.” “We are going to thrash them thouroghly and avenge for all the defeats we suffered at their hands in the past”. “We have handled them with kid gloves before but enough is enough.” “As much as we respect them we want to win and win convincingly”

  71. Kajira zoona wali pwalala chiwa, you must be one of the drop outs in Zambia only they(dropouts) think like you.
