Zambia Cosafa Cup Update

Share

Striker Emmanuel Mayuka has been given a 5-day break before joining Zambia national team Cosafa Cup training camp in Lusaka.

The teenage Zambia Under-20 and Kabwe Warriors striker received a late call-up on Tuesday while he was away on 2009 Africa Youth Championship qualifying duty in Mauritius this past weekend.

Mayuka is expected to join the team on Sunday after featuring for Warriors in their Faz Premier League Week 19 game away to Zesco United in Ndola on Saturday.

A shortage of potent strikers in the league has forced Faz to rotate its junior strikers between the senior and junior teams this year.

Mayuka is the second late call-up for Zambia’s Cosafa Cup training camp ahead of their quarterfinal match against Zimbabwe on July 27 in Secunda, Mpumalanga.

The other player is clubless defender Clive Hachilensa who is currently training with Zesco who received a late call-up last Saturday.

Meanwhile, Mayuka scored the Under-20 teams opener in their 2-0 away win over Mauritius this past Sunday in a 1st round, return leg match in Curepipe.

The victory saw the Under-20 through to the final 2nd qualifying round 3-0 on aggregate where they will face Egypt away in the 1st leg in September.

The Warriors striker has had a stressful last 7 days after cutting short a family bereavement last week to travel with the Under-20 team to Mauritius.

Mayuka is currently this season’s top scorer with 9 competitive goals in all competition since the start of the year.

He was due to join leave for Portuguese side Porto to conclude a deal but the trip has been reportedly put on hold.

  1. Yes I support #1 call Mbesuma and H. Milanzi, train and observe them. The fact that you have punished umu guys Collins he will do better. That I am sure. Nkutikeniko fye abena Lwandaz

  2. #1 na 2, am sure the pros have assessed the 2 strikers and subsequently made their decision. I dont think Mbesuma would perform amid his problems. let him settle down then we can call on his special talent.
Exposing the youngsters will give them experience and they will develop a lot quicker. Milanzi has had it for me and am sure you’ll all agree.

  3. Hi i am coming to lusaka in a few weeks. Can somebody tell me which is better between pamodzi or chaminuka? is there a better lodge out there in lusaka? also restaurants? best night clubs?
Can someone please help me out?

  4. #4 you are a problem. What are you going to do in Zambia? Dont you have relatives in there? If you are Zambian then you are an *****.

I am travelling to Zambia in November and I am going to leave with my family in Bauleni ang Kalingalnga.

  5. 4,Chaminuka is infested with nsanya and Pamodzi Hotel’s roof leaks like a sieve. There are better places for to stay at like Mother Theresa in Mtendere (recently built) or Sisters of Mercy in George Township. Beautiful places these ones if you are coming to Zed and yearn for a good treat, ok. Wish u a safe stay and have fun.

  6. Damn#6 yall have me crackin up brother,u should`nt have told him that chaminuka has nsanya so that when he comes he can be bitten by nsanya.

  7. #4,if yu are zambian then yu are a disgrace.who do yu think you are,a rich man to expose yourself to the world that yu have money?better stay there if yu think zambia is a village fo yu.we donnot pipo like yu here, surely what a question!!!!!!

  8. #4 we were watching soccer you start playing akalindula…Don’t forget to go to Cockpit and get infected for 3rd time. I suspect this guy is Kilambe, are you going for COSAFA too?

  9. #4 Both are good places. If you want a bit of a game drive included in the package then Chaminuka is the way. Pamodzi will give you a feel of a city hotel if you want that. The best place to get the information you want if you are genuine is to ask the bloggers who comment on political matters, they are very informed especially one called Mwiinga Lusaka Zambia. You can direct a question at him

  10. Why is this fella asking about places tyo lodge when we r discussing football. He aint serious pipo. Goggle gives you all the information you nid mate.

Nways back to football, what happened to all the strikers Zed had? come get some from the SA league, Davies Mwape, Linos and Songwe Chalwe. Where is James Chamanga and some other fella who played for Wits University(forgoten his name but he was a decent forward).

Give the laitie Mayuka a chance to develop with the jrs n then draft him into the senior team. We r tryng to push a half baked player into the deepend.

  11. #14 You mean Noah Chivuta, he has been recalled. # 3, your agument doeas not hold water because if Tana can be recalled, why not Milanzi. Dan hangunyu should be considered too. Even Scandinavian based players should have been considered.

  12. Guys give #4 a chance. He is genuinly asking for help. This is happening in Politics in Zambia, insults being hurtled left right and centre. And observing these blogs just proves that Zambians do not like addressing fatual situations but rather address issues with jokes and insults which the younger generation have picked up on from the senior citizens.

Don’t get me wrong I do enjoy the humour, but it seems like this is a plague of how Zambians deal with issues (insuts galore).

  13. And England should consider Paul Gascoine and Argentina should recall Maradona and Germany should recall Lothar Matthaeus. matter of fact let us not talk about other countries, let’s just recall Kalu since we are in a crisis.

That’s the solution people seem to be falling back to. Hoping to recall players who are past their peak. We need to groom new players and hold on to them. sending them to places like Malaysia, China, Cyprus or Israel just doesn’t cut it, because in a year’s time we would all but forgotten about them.

  14. #13, where are u chaps like this? mayuka is a young boy jst give him support. he is great player.he is doin grade 12 in kabwe.

  15. Guys i like you all, but nevertheless any one who knows a beautiful single lady in chibolya i want to marry and have triplet children with her so that i can name them betty, vera and maureen. stay good guys but don’t there special cigar there.

  16. mayuka will be in the likes of the great kalu, christiano ronaldo, ronadino, kaka, pele and maradona. He is a player maker.

  17. Chips #16 In which league is Dan hangunyu playing? and any inform on the Chalwe brothers. Thanks in advance.

  18. #25 It is either Angola, SA, Malasyia, China, India, Pakstan, Botswana, Lebanon, Vietnum, Cambodia, Philipines, Tongo Islands, Cape Verde, Chad, Niger, Guatamala, Somalia, Tanzania, Kenya, Malawi and East Africa as a all heheheheheheheheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Zambian soccer ma..fi

  19. Zambian players in Europe, Kalaba, Katongo, Katongo, Kola and Mulenga (5) after playing at AFCON iyo kwena muli nko..ko ba fi..k.la I hope Togo thump you, mwa yamba recalling na ba kote. Hervad is just eating money

  20. #4 try Zamcom lodge, Bervedeer logde in Woodlands and Longacres lodge. They are good. It is not selfish to keep urself in a lodge and let ur nieces and nephews to sleep on their beds. Most of the homes have 10 people living there due to many reasons including death to relatives. It is selfish to let children sleep on the floor in the kitchen so that they leave the bed for you when you visit. If you can afford it let the children sleep on their beds and enjoy their comfort. Take them loads of gifts instead especially clothes and also keep ur comfort in a hotel. It is high time we got enlightened.

  21. I meant most homes have 10 or more people living there and accomodation space is limited. It is nice to visit relatives but one should not be an inconvinience to the peole they are visiting.

  22. It seems to me that the team is fine only that they need so much consistency and team work. An area where am more concerned is in our defence. I think they need one strong man “source of confidence” TANA… who can cordinate our backline. Another Thing ….. Mental training!¬

  23. that chap is rite here in zambia..if hes got no were no to stay let him come and seek refugee in kanyama compound..infact i know him from stanly bar
