Zambia, SA Meet In Cosafa U-20 First Stage

Zambia Under-20 will face South Africa Under-20 in Group A at this years Cosafa Youth Championship that kicks off this November in Kimberley, South Africa.

It will be the first time Zambia will face the 2007 Cosafa Youth Championships runner-up in a preliminary group stage match since 2001 when they played out to a 0-0 in a Group B match.

Zambia and South Africa later faced-off in the final of the same edition of the tournament that saw the former beat the latter 5-3 on post-match penalties after a 1-1 draw.

Other teams in Group A are Lesotho and the Seychelles- the latter against whom Zambia rallied to crush 7-1 in the 2007 tournament in Mpumalanga.

The rest of the preliminary round group matches will see defending champions Zimbabwe face Botswana, Malawi and Mauritius in Group C.

2007 Bronze medalists Madagascar are in Group D with Comoros and Mozambique.

4th placed finishers Namibia who ejected Zambia from the preliminary group stage are in Group B.

Other teams in Group B are Angola who drew 1-1 with Namibia at this same stage in last year’s competition while Swaziland completes the 3-team pool.

This years Cosafa Youth Championship will run from November 27 to December 8.

Swaziland, Angola, Namibia

Group C

Zimbabwe, Botswana, Malawi, Mauritius

Group D

Madagascar, Comoros, Mozambique

  4. The U20 coach should also start thinking of calling LAMISHA MUSONDA (son of Charles Musonda based in Belgium)TO CAMP. This is the right time to build a solid foundation for the senior by observing upcoming footballers, rather than wait until it’s too late.

  5. Forget about Lamisha Musond he can never play for Zambia, what has Zambia done for the boy. he is better off to play for BELGIUM. BY the way he has no Zambian Passport. The father is just playing games by saying he wants to play for Zambia, deep down his heart he knows.
