Herve Hands William Njobvu Cosafa Cup Call-up

Share

William Njobvu has been handed a chance to prove his worth by Herve Renard after earning a late call-up to the Frenchman’s provisional Cosafa Senior Challenge Cup squad.

The talented Lusaka Dynamos midfielder trained with the team on the eve of Renard unveiling his finally 20-man team for Sundays Cosafa Cup quarterfinal match against Zimbabwe at Secunda in Mpumalanga, South Africa.

He has not been picked in Renard’s five previous games in charge due to injury and finally gets a chance to try and win a place in the Zambia set-up under the French-born trainer.

Njobvu is one of two Dynamos players called-up for training camp together with defender Hichani Himoonde.

Himoonde returns to the fold for a third time and still in search of making his first final selection line-up under Renard since the Frenchman took charge of Zambia in mid-May.

The Dynamos duo played prominently for Zambia in the team’s early stage Ivory Coast 2009 Africa Nations Championship qualifiers against Swaziland and Botswana.

Njobvu and Himoonde join other late recalls that include Zanaco striker Roger Kola and his club mate Henry Banda plus the City of Lusaka duo of defender Morgan Kaoma and midfielder Lee Ngoma.

Meanwhile, Renard will name the traveling 20-man Cosafa Cup team on Wednesday.

The team will fly out to South Africa on Friday July 25 for Johannesburg before taking the four-hour long road haul to Mpumalanga.

  1. I’v never seen njobvu play since the u-20 world cup last year but him being a midfielder i would say give him the chance to prove himself coz we lack quality players in the department. I hear tana had it rough in training yesterday and was heard pleading with the other players to reduce speed so as to accomodate his “snail” pace. Nabapwa ba mudala!

  2. Njovu is a good player sometimes but his missing hobbie should be curtailed.
The trainer must of course test every one so that he is not accused of favouritism.
#1, Who told you that Tana was complaining? Let us support him, he has done alot of maza Zambia, though fitness can not be compromised.
Nevertheless, a place in the team should be fought for and let those who qualify earn a place.
    Where is Mbesuma?

  3. #2 the report on tana is on zambianfootball.net. Am a fan of tana personally but i definately wouldnt want to see my beloved team suffer coz of lack of fitness especially when we have a physical trainer in our midst!

    • torklugnutzIf you don’t care about your credit, just dealuft. I’ve got a friend who’s done this a number of times. If you want to protect your credit, call billing and get setup on a payment plan. They’ll take whatever they can get, even if it’s only $5 a month. You’ll slowly whittle your balance down and you won’t get any bad marks on your credit, as long as you stay within the terms of your agreement.

  4. haha Ba Tana Ka…but u have to remember that running 10 paces

is not the same as playing an actual game i think we

we still need his presence and experience in defence..

    *ukutangila teku fika*

if the Coach is as *GOOD* as we *HOPE* he is am sure he will

have a spot on the team for a wise old experienced *SNAIL* than

a bunch of inexperienced *RABBITS* running around doing nothing

but letting the balls float over their heads and opposition

strikers making the most of their defensive blunders..if he was

a striker then i would understand the coaches reasons..how old

are Brazillian/Holland defenders..when are we goinG to learn..??

  5. Ohh and Italian Defenders…too…???

its not a matter of speed but brains and experience in the

    game…

  6. Plz let us not condemn Tana. He is the most experience and gud defender we have in zed. The man has what it takes to be a defender.shame to all those who condemn him. Coarch give tana a chance in defence and mbesuma upfront.

  7. We need Tana and I agree with Black Feet on old defender. This is also the chance to test Mbesuma in the COSAFA

  8. com’n pipo…let Collins give himself a chance first by showing the coaching staff that he is willing to shed the chibuku fat off. dnt get me twisted, he is a brilliant player but a dumb thinker. how can u just waste ur career in the manner he did.shame on him..may he has grown up now so it woulg be nice to see him against the shamwaris nxt wknd.

  9. I think this coach is a big mouth, from his comments he does like the style of Tana. Players in Europe play until they are 36 as long as they can do their act. Tana is not Winter Muleya iyo, running 10 rounds kwati ni bola ya ku primary school sure. Is Tana going to run 90 minutes? Ba coach today he leaves out HH, mailo ni Tana, we need him to find a long lasting solution in defence, not changing all the time. Kampamba Chintu ati ku Qatar, what is he going to do their when he is just 28 years. If players like Sichone could play in Germany Chintu could have managed as well. What is wrong with our defenders. As long as we do not produce quality defenders we shall never win anything

  11. Who is this boy from Rangers who has scored 8 goals for an average club. Has anyone watched him. How good is he?

  12. #8, COSAFA is a good platform to show case one’s ability and form. This is not that competitive so I believe Mbesuma can still play. Forget about chibuku and that kind of staff. Most of these chaps drink. I still believe Mbesuma can still rise if he wants.

  13. I too think Mbesuma should be given a chance especially now in COSAFA, but the big question is where is he?

  14. Mbesuma must show some seriousness,he was supposed to be in SA where some team showed interest in him last week only to hear that he had some personal problem that he neede to settle.Though he might be in SA by today…..get rid of too much chips and chicken and go green……..

  15. I agree that experience cannot be substituted by anything else but endurance in a match is also very cardinal. Tana is one of the best defenders we have around but he really needs to work on his fitness. Those of you who have seen him play recently will bear me witness that he has struggled a bit containing the younger players. Tana work hard, if you get back to your fitness levels you will be a regular again no doubt about it.

  16. The coach is not a big mouth Justice, he is right for calling out Tana and sticking to his high standards. Except the thing about Tana is a matter of principle, he must look at different ways of forming a strong squad, I doubt Mr Renard has ever seen Tana play for Zambia, and this is a chance to show we have principle and are willing slow done in our pursuit of glory and pay tribute to the man who served selflessly. In sport sometimes it’s the intangibles that make the difference so let’s take time when we have it.

  17. Fitness is very key in football these day.Zambian players have never lacked skill. What has killed us in the past is physic and technique.Guys like Essien run for almost 90minutes.Modern football requires one to physically fit.Let Tana play fo 45minutes or also.
As for Mbesuma i would like to see him play for Zambia again. But the question we need to ask ourselves is when did the man last train or kick a ball on the pitch? I would like to hear from his manager whether the guy has been training whiles sorting out his personal issues even just going ku gym.

  18. Seen does the coach need to tell the whole nation on how slow Tana is, it is his assistant’s job to make Tana fast. There are issues u can tell the press but there are also issues u can tell the player himself. If Tana is too slow for the coach then why is he keeping him in camp? How would u feel for someone to tell you that u are fat, u are slow, etc while at the same time u are in camp, it is like getting the chop already. The coach must learn to be diplomatic that is all. He likes the press but one day he may hate them. And his language has not been good for example when he last said “African players are bla bla bla bla”, who is he and what football has he played. Do yr job Mr. coach

    • RalfcoderYou can raise your credit score by painyg your bills on time, every month, for many months in a row, and for painyg down the amount you owe. If you make a payment on a credit card, and then use it to charge the same amount, you’re not making progress, and you won’t improve your credit score much. The amount you owe has to go down a significant amount to have a significant effect.

  19. To be physically fit is not all about running 10 laps it is many things, players in Europe do train even in their free time at GMS etc. I know people who can not run fast but are physically fit. Elyo nga ni bola ya ku west africa na europe ama drugs too much and we all know that

  20. Tana has been named in the final team going to SA for cosafa. Its up to him now to prove himself and keep the new found zim scoring sensation quiet.

  21. Anyway the Coach has included Tana in his final list of 20 players to leave for South Africa on Friday.(zambianfootball.net) I am sure the Coach knows he needs Tana’s experience in the team.

Justice whats happening to Chris in Denmark surely the man couldn’t get a contract outside Denmark?I was hoping to see the man move out to France or Portugal.

  22. Sibs Chris is an asset to BIF. BIF are playing in the UEAF Cup this season and they know if Chris continues to play the way he has done his market value will increase. They bought him for £700,000 and his market value after being in Denmark just for half a season has increased to around £3,000,000. There is no French club that would be will willing to pay that price at he same time BIF know that with the UEAF CUP his value would increase more and they would gain more. Tonight BIF are playing JUVENTUS of Italy in a friendly game. It is a matter of time before he is bought

  23. Sibs why has Chintu gone to Qatar or what it is for trails? It beats me that Zambia’s best defender goes there

  24. Justice, i hear you and agree about diplomacy and so on. We have to give him the benefit of the doubt, maybe it’s all part of his master plan to get everyone motivated, we have to know ourselves and not be under any illusions of what still needs doing. He is a young coach and i’m sure still getting know Zambia. No one is perfect, but he is our coach, so we make a decision to support him 100% or not at all.

As for Katongo Sibs, i think he’s been doing great in Denmark and should stay. Remember when he got signed he had the chance try out in EPL but he chose Bronby out of principle. Good guy…

  25. For Information
Chansa Isaac is doing well in Sweden, he has played in every game so far though on the left side of midfield. I do not know about Felix and Kalaba

  26. Justice thanks for your reply on #22.On Chintu i guess thats the only offer he had cos his former club in South Africa Free State Stars did not renew his contract.I also think this move is more of a monetary one than anything.I know Ghana have a player called Kingstone who plays in the UAE if i am not mistaken.Lomani LuaLua the Congolese has just signed for Al Arabi in Qatar. He has moved from Olympiacos in Greece.
I don’t know how competitive the Qatar league is compared to S.A.

Seen from afar #24 my man i agree with you maybe Chris should stay in Denmark but i think next season he should move on to a bigger stage.Though he was wise of not rushing to the EPL like you have said.

  27. i think i have been impressed by the coach’s choice of the defence.iam not sure of the midfield though but the front line is okay as well.zimbabwe is gonna fall. The palyers like tonga bull, tana to mention but a few know that this is a plat form to impress the coach for future assingmnets.i would have loved the coach to include william ndjovu to compliment issac chansa

  28. #29 dont despair over katongo, the lad is on the rise. He’s going to be one of the best footballing role models zed has ever had. Justice thanx for the information on katongo and chansa. Pliz tell us how he would have featured against juventus after the game.

  29. # 28. Mbesuma has a bum knee that is why the Trukish club got rid of him. Calling him to the national team will be a great risk and waist of space for upcoming players, until he stars playing for a team and proves himslef . Even playing for Kafironda stars will do!

  30. Brondby with Chris in action lost 1-2 to Italian giants Juventus in a friendly game played in Copenhagen last night. Brondby hit the cross bar twice in the second half thru Chris and Mark Williams. Details later
