The Zambia Under-20 has received two foreign invites to play in West Africa and Europe.
Oswald Mutapa’s side is set to face the Flying Eagles of Nigeria away at a date and venue to be announced after Faz and the Nigeria Football Association wrap-up an agreement on the dates, venue and series of matches to be played.
The Flying Eagles date is expected to be part of Zambia’s 2009 Rwanda Caf Africa Youth Championship 2nd round qualifier against Egypt in September.
Meanwhile, there is also a prospective trip for the Under-20 team to a central European country for a training camp over the coming two months.
The development comes after the senior team secured a training camp in Germany from August 15 to 24 while they also have proposed friendly matches against Chile and Ivory Coast away over the coming month.
The friendly games are planned before Zambia’s 2010 Africa/World Cup Group 11 qualifier at home against Togo in Chililabombwe on September 5 at Konkola Stadium in Chililabombwe.
how are we playing stable or steady progress

Thanx BILLY for the updates, but there is nothing like Zambia played better, this HERVE must be castrated and depoted coz we are not ready to continue paying a chap who can’t deliver. We want phiri back, and let his(Phiri)innocent spirit continue haunting the pompus Kalu.
disgusting how do you lose to a Division 2 select side. I don’t care whether you are an expatriate. Fire this guy and bring back PP before we are embarrassed further
TO BAD TO HEAR WE WERE SQUANDERED BY SOUTH AFRICA. HERVE MUST LEAVE IN PEACE. THE EARLIER THE BETTER!
Zed can keep their heads held high. they played the best football i’ve c n they play in a while.
This coach (Herve) is calling people he has not seen play! Furthermore, he plays even good players out of position: for example what has Christopher Katongo done in his “new” role? Does that tell you something? Well, think of this: in most of the trips of the Chipolopolo, he (Herve) has either Kalusha or Munaile in the background or wings. I get the feeling that he is just a rubber stamp who is told who to play in what position. Ba Kalu did well as a coach for Zambia with Bamfuchile in the background. Now, with no good tactician to cover inflated egos of our former soccer superstars cum administrators, I have a feeling that the chickens are coming home to roost! What do u think?
It pains to think that we have enough good players even in the local league to silence ‘developmental’ sides like SA, Swaziland. Yet we have continued to struggle. Those saying the demise of the mines is toi blame are only partially right. How can you explain our team struggling against teams like Botswana, Swaziland where sponsorship of football has never been anywhere near Zambian teams!
Moz 1 madagascar 1 half time. herve waona kalu hand pickd u so yakosa nkani pa zed. wenze kuseka chiani pa ss afta the game? hey anotha tournament 4 unda 17 next mnth sponsord by gauteng province. its called supersport cup. bakolwe ba sa hav mane gee
I am beginning to think I was right, and I hate to say it, but I TOLD U SO, no goal from regular time winning on penalties, now I think we do not even dersrve a place at the AFCON.
Mulenga,Newcastle England you a British Zambian?,Zambian law does not allow Dual citizenship sucka!.What did you do marry those fat English underclass girls that Specialize in nixxxgers ?.we will fight you until you submit? YOU ARE TALKING THROUGH YOUR ASS MATE!.
Mwinga u r dead rite imagine misin afcon wil b held in our bak yard? i hav lost hope. bt wat cud b da problem? i had plans of goin 2 angola wth the new train 2 b comisiond in dec 09 tho kavindele has been splashd out of the project. guys wat do we nid 2 do? chanibaba.
#13 you know you may be on to something about Kalusha and Munaile. It’s interesting that when Renard made the comment that South Africa were not a threat, he implied that he got his scouting report from Munaile. He passed judgement on a team he had not even seen play. I just hope Mwinga will not have to tell us that dreaded “I told you so”! I just can’t believe that given the teams in the last four, Zambia succumbed at the first hurdle.
Yaba Ba Kalusha nachi bipa.
C
Ba Zambia Makula period.
I have said it b4, you cannot blame Kalu or the coach. Both never featured in the game and we have players who aren’t classy. They are not to the standard of Kelvin Mutale, Fighton Simukonda, Kapambwe Mulenga, Jericho Shinde. What do you want the coach and Kalu do? Bayubule and then step onto the pitch?
#23. Iwe Koswe what did Zambia win with the players you have mentioned. You sound like the many Zambians who pretend that we were this great soccer nation. Apart for East and central In 1984 Zambia has done crap not even a trip to the world cup.
#23 use your brain ala! the coach has a major role to play in any game and that you know very well. There is such things as mind games, team spirit and even tactics. These as you know are employed by the coach and not the players themselves. Poulsen for a period of 3 months did a marvelous job that was short of nothing but praise when he was called upon to lead to the africa cup. Zambia even at present has better players compared to the likes f Swaziland, Botswana you name them
am very disapointed with kalusha not a physical trainer coz kalu knew very well that that boy so called coach is a nobody.just fire him before it too late.
kalu has no passion 4 zambia and he is just a businessman that why he can do anything to make money.he decided to hire that ka physical trainer so that he ……………..out of him.
Herve needs to take take a critical look at his squad before the Togo game otherwise we will miss out.i have always said and will continue to say that the team that went to the last AFCON (albeit the defence)was a marvel to watch and if allowed to develop would make a very strong squad.
i guess its back to the same old story of ‘re-building’ for mother Zambia.Pity
We said when FAZ hired this nervous boy – Herve, that he has no qualification to coach Zambia. Some of you guys were saying let’s give him chance or change (Kwacha), now you see the results. Even when Xenophibians fielded a Mvela (Div 1), they beat us. Why Why… simply because we NEVER learn. Ghana offloaded this guys as PE trainer, we rush to improve his CV as a coach of a republic.
FAZ, fire this guy now or don’t complain when we fail to qualify for world Cup.
The probation period for the French is over!!!
who enployed this herve? is it not our leaders? twapapata saana this coach must go.
Imwe bantu, checkingani ma feet of each striker. Thes football boots can decieve ka. Mu peza mwendo za flat. Iyo bola ya choka,ah ah, Do some brain scans as well, including FAZ. aNOTHER instruction. I have been missing some keys, kukalipa yah!
Too bad Zambia.the problem is deeper than national team. But something could’ve been done right at the top.I think with the money KCM is paying that man we can do better with the coach like claude le roy, michell etc rather than a PE instructor.
the problem is that we like experimeting on the ground,we are just trying the players just like we are trying the coach himself, now that he has faild whats the way forwad zambians.
i told you at one time that the so called kalusha bwalya is a failure and would fail us .people castigated me .now look the man even went and broughtina phisical trainer at the expense of our highly trained patrick phiri.people let this man renard be fired so that our patrick phiri comes back
guys i watched the game with keen interest,i admit that mweene made a blunder.the real problem is the scoring, mayuka and kola are too raw though they have pontetial, i still feel had it been mbesuma even with his weight those boys would have been burried.kola and mayuka should still play the u-20 games .kombe was better than the other two strikers. This coach should have done what ted is doing for mbesuma at sundowns since he is actually a physical trainer.we seriously need a striker with a vision for a goal and that could be mbesuma if he is rehabilitated, but that initiative should come from the coach
#24 Walitumpa, we mbushi we.
#25, What did you think I was using? Pushi.
I think we just have to be told the truth as to what is happening in camp coz its just too much all these games without a single goal. I v said b4 that we need mbesuma in the team the coach should not b pretending. If you look at yesterdays game the coach was sitting close to his physical trainer I think he should have sat next to his deputy so that they share ideas. This simply tells that the deputy has no imput in the game.
The more fit Zambian players have not scored a goal in open play in any competitive game for Zambia under Herve. Are we getting it wrong tactically or we are just naive in front of goal?
I know we are using raw players but I think it is time we resorted back to experience. FAZ needs to organise friendly games within the country with our much improved neighbours so that discarded players like Mbesuma, Milanzi etc should feature.
Our performance has suddenly plummeted in the region and it hurts to see that even teams like Madagascar are playing constructive football than ourselves. Our National team is composed of players who shine during training sessions but lamentably fail
to impress during crucial games. Let give confidence to the players that have it before for Zambia and not these daydreamers who are just giving us hypertension.
I recall one Emmanuel Chibale who used make good runs on the flanks but his most of his crosses ended up behind the goal post when it mattered most.
It seems to me that every coach who comes in want to make his own team, which i think is very bad for the game of football and for the country at large.
You can not always be trying new players in a crucial game.I think it’s now time when Kalusha should start thinking about the black-shine PP.At the moment we should not cheat our selves to say there is a coach in Zambia who is more knowledgable in terms of football than Patrick. The man is selfless when it comes to national duties.
At this stage there is no need of according each and every player a chance to prove himself because time is not with us and indeed we have a big task of making it to world cup/african cup 2010.We only have one more game to go and I suppose all our efforts should be channelled towards beating Togo but funny enough we have started from all over as if we have qualified already.Cosafa would have been taken seriously to mould the players particularly the defence as that is the spect with mostly locals but everything is so mixed up.Why not just call a few U20/U23 players we already know and fuse them with the Tana’s and the like?Mayuka/Kola have been rushed to the national team.Sebastian and Will!
I don’t see Zambia beating Togo. While I am not saying that Herve should be fired. I feel he must change his tactics. How do you explain a team that scored against Botswana, Swaziland all of a sudden felling to score goals? Togo will come to defend and hit us on the counter with Adebayor.
Scoring should start from the local league. If teams cant score in the FAZ league how do we expect them to score in the national team? FAZ should focus on improving the premier league. Shimpundu #25; the squad that Poulsen took over was much more talented than these boys. There was so much competition then that those boys were actually a shadow national team who only got their chance after the heroes had died.
Jeff#36 A national team trainer doesn’t have the time and opportunity to do what Ted is doing. He doesn’t run a player through the mill. Its the club (and the individual player) that shapes up a player if he is unfit. The Portsmouth coach in England pointed out this when he was ignored for the post of national coach.
#33 Claude Le Roy and Henri Michel are not within our reach. Get that thought out of your mind! Their perks are far above the $ 25,000 KCM have offered to pay the coach. For instance, Le Roy what getting K 200m in his last contract with Ghana so please if you are whining about a K 70m which is not coming out of your pocket, how about a figure almost 3 times more?
#36 I agree with Soccer Fan No2 that it is not the job of the national coach to rehabilitate players but the club where they belong. If they are clubless, then tough luck. When the brilliant Adriano lost his form at Inter Milan, he automatically lost his place in the Brazil squad. He was offloaded by Inter back to Brazil where he is now being ‘rehabilitated’ by Flamengo.
Yaba ba kalu is it blind eyes in the ball.
Come on kalu and company eyes in the net.
Mwembushi mwe # 24 and Mwe Mpundu mwe read the more mature and objective analysts by Soccer Fan No. 2 (45/46) and Chief # 48.
Most soccer funs are in denial about the truth of Zambian soccer and have the nerve to insult Kalu or the new coach. Just recently Zambia Coaches Football Association President, Patrick Kangwa said he was concerned that football standards in the country were declining. Yet some people on the blog cannot admit to this. Govt still boasts of 1930s infrastructure and today there is poor sponsorship of teams and poor quality of players but people want the national team to perform miracles. No, it never works that way.
we can not blame the coach or the players ,lets put the blame on our leaders (FAZ)4 choosing uyu kolwe herve.napela
Fire this PE coach and get back Patrick Phiri to redeem the situation before it’s too late. It will not be good after the game against Togo to come and start crying over spilt milk!!! Ilya mite ele namwene mailo yabana.
If national team players have problems with close control, accurate passing and target shooting, it is a reflection of the standards at club level. If the national team is playing without a system, ignoring the midfield, kicking the ball upfront when a good player like Henry Banda was in midfield, the problem is the national team coach. Having watched the Zambia/ South Africa game last night, our problem is both.
if herve is trying players what is the difference to try players like stephen kunda (finland),misheck lungu(hungry),edwin phiri(sweden) etc,who are abroad.
Kola I support you. Currently, our local players have nothing much to offer. Let us mobilise all players abroad regardless of the strength of those leagues such as Finland, hungary or Sweden. At least they will be trainable. Bring Zeddy Saileti as well.
Kola #55, I’m inclined to think the players you are mentioning have been blacklisted by someone at FAZ. It does not make sense why they never get any invitations at all. Secondly, I agree that the standards of the game in Zambia have gone down over the years, but the decline between January and now is too steep. It can only point to one thing, and that is the coach. His tactics have to be questioned. The CHAN team right before he took over was able to score 3 goals against Botswana and Swaziland each this year. What has become the problem now?
JUST GOT OUT OF THE LEVY UPDATE FORUM AND NOW TO THIS 1-0 NONSENCE!!!!!!
zeddy saileti his time has passed, his now a coach player plus scout.he poached nchimunya mweetwa, stephen kunda, chanda mwaba, chileshe chibwe and he has helped them to adapt easly and the team won promotion.nhimunya mweetwa scored 17 goals 1 behind the top scorer.misheck lungus team has won promotion to the top flight league
I don’t understand what the fuss is all about this was the right time to try some players so that every body gets a chance. Now he has seen more players so hopefuly he will pick a solid squad for Togo.
Still the story will be the same- Zambia fails to qulify they fire the coach. When the emotions die down the same thing . Hire a new coach , no silver ware, fail to go to world cup, fire the coach for 44 years and counting. I keep my hopes low, our team is or rather Makula!!
zambia’s line up u fools
kennedy mwenne
joseph musonda
moses sichone
elijah tana
andrew sinkala

Days are gone when I used to know the line up. Now it is very difficult to know. The line up on #61 seems okay. I can assure you half of these names will not even be on touch line
Zambia is a nation of 11-12 million people, interesting all them seem to be coaches. This one says tactics, the other one coach, the other one players, the stadia,FAZ ; the list is endless.
Way forward mwebantu, lets do with wat we have at the moment please.
