Levy’s Latest Update

Share

First Lady Maureen Mwanawasa and other family members have expressed gratitude to the Zambian people and other countries that have sent messages of good will and prayers for the quick recovery of President Mwanawasa.

Vice President Rupiah Banda said the first family is encouraged with the overwhelming prayers and support from Zambians for the quick recovery of Dr Mwanawasa.

The Vice President said this in a statement posted on the State House website and obtained by the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in Lusaka today.

Mr. Banda said President Mwanawasa has continued to make steady progress in his recovery process.

He adds that doctors treating the President have expressed satisfaction with the rate of the progress being made in the healing process.

Mr. Banda said Mrs. Mwanawasa and some family members have continued to be at the President’s bed side.

Dr Mwanawasa is currently admitted at Percy Military Hospital in Paris, France where he was flown after suffering a stroke in Egypt while attending the African Union (AU) heads of state summit.

  1. I share the concern of the first family. Coming out of a coma is not an easy thing. What may become interesting is how long Levi can hold the country to ransom. Or is it Maureen and Leslie Mbula trying to groom a successor.

Very soon we will being saying 2 months, 3 months when ba mudala is actually in a coma. Statements like being ku bedside show that the end has come and we need to move forward.

  2. Chill Pelican Brief. We have capable people in government who’re watching Levy’s sickness closely. They’ll tell us what to do at an appropriate time.

  3. donnot give briefs if therte is nothing new or you just make the whole thing academic exercise…you understand GRZ??????

  4. Human life consists in mutual service. No grief, pain, misfortune, or “broken heart,” is excuse for cutting off one’s life while any power of service remains. But when all usefulness is over, when one is assured of an unavoidable and imminent death, it is the simplest of human rights to choose a quick and easy death in place of a slow and horrible one.

  5. RB could you please improve on your updates, is Levy now jogging the grounds of Percy Military Hospital or on some tredmill machine in the one of the side ward. We are damn tired of, “stable”, “steady stable” and such like statements. Could you improve on your updates please Ba VP, i am pleading.

  6. What i would like to know…. Is he still in a coma? My assumption given that there is no concrete info coming out of GRZ is LPM aka cabbage is clinically dead. As soon as you pull the plugs he cannot breath for himself. Thats why they say Zambians are too nice or simply aloof. How can you go for 1 full month without a president and not knowing the condition of the president. Can we demand a timeline when action should be taken to move forward. Thats why we are asking for the medical review board. We can go like this for years. Remember this situation suites MMD who are currently as confussed a goose. They dont know whats up or down. Some of us dont use emotions we use brains….

  7. Chungu lost his wife because of cabbage’s persecution. Harry kamima died of torture from Kafupi and cabbage. So what makes the death of a cabbage so special???. These are evil people. What goes arround comes arround. Kafupi is also in trouble with his tiny heart. Do you know how many people have died needlessly at the hands Kafupi and cabbage?

  8. Is it now one same boring update per week? You see, time catches up with liars, you can’t go on lying perpetually without starting to repeat yourself like a broken record. Very soon we shall have you all in a dark corner, with your tails in between the place you and I have, ku backside…

  9. Respect to the man that tried to bring Zambia on the map in good governance, he is not perfect but did what the suitable people failed to do. To all the Zambia Big Up for showing africa and the world that peace starts from home were parents are respected. To Levy you are not the right man but you did the right job, you feet the saying wrong man in a place at the right time. You did a great Job for Zambia, unfortunate that in your shadow the proffessional crooks are creeping in. I wish you could have run the country all by yourself fill up all the positions and get rid of the corruption demons, I see them coming with long fingers on Zambia

  10. Yes Miss Pretty on 19:00 hours news this evening, but like other bloggers have said, it sounds like the same news because there is nothing new really

  11. For us in the diaspora its a big let down to hear even znbc broadcast that same stale news as “latest”! Thanks Mwiinga

  12. Breaking News (ZNBC Exclusive):

    “Mwanawasa is stable but critical…

Dr Mwanawasa is currently admitted at Percy Military Hospital in Paris, France where he was flown after suffering a stroke in Egypt while attending the African Union (AU) heads of state summit.”

  13. We cannot take any more crap from GRZ. Now is the time to be practical. I suggest we form a legal organization, similar to ACLU in USA. These fools in LPM ‘s administration think when they say Jump , the Zambian people should say How high? Instead we will tell the govt to poke their index finger up where the sun does’t shine, their ass

  14. Mulenga,Newcastle England you a British Zambian?,Zambian law does not allow Dual citizenship sucka!.What did you do marry those fat English underclass girls that Specialize in nixxxgers ?.we will fight you until you submit? YOU ARE TALKING THROUGH YOUR ASS MATE!.

  15. May the good “ord” God bless you all Zambians…MUST BE…May the good “Lord” God bless you all Zambians.

  16. Latest update my a$$…this story is becoming sooo boring, perhaps we could do with a latest 4rm Pule & his arch nemesis Mmembe who recently sued him? I swear if I hear another silly update 4rm RB, my head will explode…!

  17. Mama Maureen, my heart goes out to you & family but your tactics of hiding the real info 4rm the public may soon backfire on you badly! Don’t ever take Zambians’ patience & docility for stupidity, coz when they start demanding answers, it won’t be funny. If you continue your tricks with ‘bubble head’ RB, I give u until end Aug – early Sept & Zedians will lose all their remaining patience. You’ve reached a dead end, best step is to get Zambians on your side and throw your weight behind a credible successor (non of your relatives pls!) & all wil be well. If you choose to stick your head in the sand, it’ll be armageddon for u & yours…!

  18. You don’t mess with Mugabe, ni ndoshi. Other African leaders knew what they were doing by keeping silent.

  19. This is boring, what we want is proper update on LMP condition weather he will be capable of runing a country or not after this serious stroke.

  20. Aaa,Bane,Our Leader is on the mend!Lesa mukulu,i await the day LPM will land at Lusaka International Airport, walikng UNAIDED.Lets have faith ,people of God!

  21. # 31,32, we also know that Ariel Sharon is alive but still in a coma for the past 2 solid years and about 6 months since he suffered a stroke, the same fate LPM had. What we know about Sharon is that he is on life support, they cannot unplug the power from the machines becoz he will die. What we dont know about LPM is whether he is on life support machines or can breathe and move some body parts un aided. Its this information that can help realign our prayers and thoughts as a country. I believe in God, prayer and have faith at the same time my God has not given me a brain for nothing, he put it in the head so i can judge things and assess the situation. we dont need to discern that LPM is i

  22. contd from 33
is in a coma or not. the book of James says faith without actions is dead. we need to know exactly what is transpiring or else someone will rise up and say our prayers were in vain.

  23. Is any one sick, let him call the elders of the church and they will pray an lay hands on him and the prayer of the righteuos prevails and is answered

  24. Interesting- by now with this head story we would have over 200 postings. I guess we all think the same that GRZ is playing the fool.

    Every dog has its day!!

  25. The president is in a ‘Persistent vegetative state’

Why beating about the bush? It’s not doing the country nor the president himself any good by not telling the people what they entitled to know. The country needs to move forward. I hope this is not prolonged till 2011 just because of a few morons that want to keep their jobs. Enough is enough.

  26. Indeed, we need the truth. So much anxiety in the country. Lat time Zambia had no President was in 1968 when KK briefly signed and it was felt. One month is rather too long without the Head of State.

  27. Its a very bad test for Zedians. Where is the constitution please. LPM is sick and in a vegetative state. Let Moreen be assured that we will support levy despite the transitional arrangements. We are tired of the moral jacket.Let the law take its course so that LPM can quickly rest and the family continue receiving moral support. Is Moreen GRZ spokesperson. Lets be serious.Layers, Opposition Leaders and other well meaning personality , lets follow the law and not morals so as to move on.Viva smmoth transition and abash undrground plundering by job seekers.

  28. #13 are u are former frustrated “chuchuchu” owoooh wanya,LPM is gettin better, he will employ u as his guard at Teka farms since u have security background.

You people are mad all u want to hear is bad news.m****** mwe

  29. # 39 Is that all you can think about? Grow up! How have you gotten access to the net. Yaba, lekeni bani tukane manje.

  30. Bonse abalelanda ati LPM is dead fipuba. What we need truly as some of you have rightly put it is proper updates. What is he able to do now? Well reliable sources say he is now able to get on a wheel chair. He is undergoing physiotherapy (sp) and talking just abit. Nomba we need to be told as a nation. Not lyonse hearsay fye. Twanaka please give us proper info ba VP and Mike…We miss our president elo bamungulu limo

  31. wheater you conceal info or not
death is certain for everyone. There is only one thing certain for everyone when we are born in this worl, it is DEATH.

it is unavoidable. president or not president, we will all die. and LPM will die if that has not happened yet.
we will all face death. so those who are LPM phobia just know that like it or not LPM will also kick the bucket, maybe he has done that already.

  32. definition of steady

    Thesaurus: steady

    adjective

    1. Firmly in position: fixed, immobile, immovable, stationary, steadfast, unmovable, unmoving. See move/halt.
    2. Firmly settled or positioned: fast, firm1, secure, stable, strong, sure. See continue/stop/pause.
    3. Having no change or variation: changeless, constant, equable, even1, invariable, invariant, regular, same, unchanging, uniform, unvarying. See same/different/compare.

  33. he might be alive but can´t feel anything i believe.Zed is the first country ever to be ruled by a sitting presdo who is ICU.
We have broken them records and for this i hope the whole country should be in the genius book aight?

  34. Ba Robert Simeza, Ba John Sangwa and other law practitioners, help us with what to do during this trying moments. We don’t want to be living in HH’s theory of reasonable time, we all need to take a move and not come back to regreats there after. What are we waiting for and what do the law/constitution stipulates. come on guyz, say something.

  35. ba LAZ (Law Association of Zambia) have already said their position. The law says VEEP can act or someone from Cabinet if VEEP is unavailable. SO heaven knows why they are taking forever to announce the RB is acting President. Time is moving. Soon it will be 6 months LPM still in France. We need to act and now is the time. Even if he comes back he won’t be able to play his role as President. That is a fact we all can’t run away from. So guys beniko serious and do your thing! We counting on you

  36. All these updates are fake it is only malone zaza who can update us where are you malone zaza the nation is behind interms of update we need people like malone zaza to be updating us since he brought the story.

Wanya malone zaza you will be in soup for having brought the story. Bakakutanyika

  37. Our president will manage to pull through this one and then come back to RECONCILE with somebody outside MMD(perhaps Miyanda) and that person will be his anointed SUCCESSOR and the next president of ZAMBIA; not the guys struggling for power right now in MMD. Watch this space…….

  38. #44: It is sincerely hoped that your reliable sources are that reliable. But our reliable sources are saying if it were so, Mike would have liked to show the country some pictures of that progress; but I guess my sources were just cracking a joke.

  39. If Zuma can advise GRZ (today’s Post) to handle this case differently then there is something GRZ is concealing

For every action, there is a price that we pay and Mike, and all the bootlickers will pay a price for what we are going through right now. Secrets are very destructive.

  40. #49 what has HH done to deserve your hatred.HH only interpreted the constitution which everyone must follow unless you cant it to be amended for which you are free to suggest so.I dont even see why you called on Simeza and Sangwa???Is it because of their associationto the plunder? Why do we have to heroworship plunderers when we have clean people in our country?

  41. tHE UPDATES SO FAR ARE QUITE ENCOURAGING. tHE FACT IS THAT AT LEAST HE IS ALIVE AND LET US GIVE HIM CHANCE TO COME PEACEFULLY AND HAND OVER IF HE IS FOUND TO BE UNABLE TO CONTINUE WITH HIS DUTIES.

  42. When asked for a comment, Vice President Rupiah Banda said, “The stability is stabilizing the stable state of our stability and in our efforts to stabilize stability, we have become stable stabilizers…we must continue stabilizing this stability in order to have stable stability. This stability will bring even more stable to the stabilizing stability. I therefore urge all stable-loving Zambians to stability and stabilize! ”

  43. If LPM was on a wheel chair and undregoing physio as posted by some optimist @44, then for sure we would have seen these pictures in the Times and Daily Mail. Mulongoti said it is not right to show pictures of someone who is sick-i believe he meant ‘someone who is in no position to know that you have taken their picture, hence did not pose for it’. From this we can conclude all is not well. We can hope and pray all we want but when its time up, then its time up. Dont mess with nature!

  44. GIGO!! It just shows the calibre of leadership we have in zambia. How can you put old fashioned people with UNIP mentality at the helm of Zambia. Things have changed!! Its like putting new wine in old wine bottles!! Bootlicker!! Though a diehard RB would be kicked out of that position with heavy thunder!! He should just tell the truth!! Zambians we dont panic, no matter what the condition of the presido. What does he fear? Let him tell us the truth!!

I know if it was a young generation VP, he could have defied all protocols and told the nation the truth. Why cant they show

  45. God answers all the prayers as long as you believe in him.But it takes people with clear understanding of God to know the answer in each and every situation.

  46. This one is not mine: VETERAN politician Simon Zukas has warned that the uncertainty surrounding President Levy Mwanawasa’s condition will have devastating effects on the economy…., Zukas said although the country was aware that President Mwanawasa was slowly recovering and would return home, he would not be able to resume presidential duties immediately.
Another prediction coming from Zukas; its all about predictions!!

  47. 61 – Besa and Moti …you guys rock!!!. You’ve made my day.

Talking of GRZ showing pics of LPM.. this could be a media feeding freenze. This blog would be smoking from the analysis of the pics. I can imagine one guy dissecting the nature of bed LPM is sleeping on, the size of Oxygen tubes, size of the room, how old or young the Doc standing next the bed, how many nurses on the bed-side, how many medicine bottles you see in frame … which is full…half full, names of medicine..including scientific names and what they do or don’t do to ones body.

Are you ready for LPM pics???!! Yes…NO…Yes…No…

  48. Expected headlines in coming days: “Mpombo power hungry…” Mabenga; “Economy buoyant & stable despite Levy’s illness” Rupiah Banda

  49. its now one month plus in Percy and we are still being told the same old story, steady progress, ‘stable condition”. we need proper updates from qualified Docs and not family members, we are fed up with these updates.

  50. #63, i concur with you, i think umulongoti ulebepa sana pantu pamenso ya mulongoti palemoneka fye ubufi ubwafita nga kamona kakwe.
Levy might to be well and all these pipo saying the first lady called, bufi pantu amafone from overseas can be monitored by zamtel and some chap can leak info i think

  51. Levy has tried .Economically he is driving this nation to prosperity.he is true to himself and this nation.we still need him very much.without him i see only thieves and plunderers.if everything goes to the worst,i recommend Magande for presidency.Let me advise the family members and the state .take this seriously!Take this good man to Prophet T.B.Joshua of Nigeria.long live Levy and the republic.

  52. Update indeed.Levy is still in ICU.
As i have stated in my earlier submission.Thoz with Presidential ambitions shud start campaigning including Katele.Zambians will choose from the filth.
Let us stop living in self denial

  53. Ba JemboG, try to explain what is meant by reasonable time. Nothing personal and no emotions but brain driven. am not HH’s fun but kwendoline kone followed by Ngondo. Deeply sorry to offend your reasoable time but needs a functional president and not one writting speeches in a coma.

  54. Those of us who are praying know that Levy will recover and appoint a successor. Viva Levy.

  55. The Kwacha is getting weaker, today it is K3,500 against the dollar from K3,100. This is the time to start acting in finding the next leader of Zambia. We can not let LPM’s personal health damage our economy. We need change management specialists to take over otherwise our kwacha will be heading on the same path as the zim dollar and I’m sure no right thinking Zambian wants that. We need a change of leadership and gov’t.

  56. Have you chaps read up on the Percy Military Hospital on Wikipedia?? That place is a morgue!! Yasser Arafat went in that same place and died. The omens are not good.

Zambians!! Lets get serious, LPM cannot govern the country. Even if he recovers there is no way he will be a fit state to govern. Elections have to be announced. Surely Zambia cannot be governed via remote control.

  57. My prediction is that Percy Military Hospital will not be a morgue for our president. We don’t have French roots for our president to die there …… I am telling you he is COMING BACK. Sorry for lack FULL INFORMATION dear Zambians but your president will come BACK ALIVE!!!

  58. #82, how alive my friend, is he going to continue to rule or as a c****e. You sound to have some data. But my sources have been elusive of late.

  59. Hey Prediction please change your name to Optimist – as you seem to have a cheerful outlook on our rather bleak situation. Unfortunately for you I am a realist and think that we should start looking for a new presido now. No point in waiting for LPM dead or alive!

  60. #88 Hi Nkanga don’t worry about my predictions, simply start campaigning at least you might have a chance of being presido … at best Levy will not be president beyond 2011!!

  61. Yes I have started campaigning – someone has to start! If an indoshi like Katele can aspire to Plot 1 I don’t see why I cant do it either!!!!!!!!!!

  62. Yes some one has to start; Good start #90#91. The tricky part of the whole scenerio is that some one can hijack the process hence the careful stance of the updates, you might be annoyed with this but wisdom demands that cabinet takes things cool; but that doesn’t stop any one beginning the campaign outside……when you are accused of being heartless, tell them it is for 2011!! at least to cool the sentimental conscience….

  63. Hey Prediction I am talking about NOW and NOT 2011. Do you honestly think that we shud wait until 2011!!!!!!!!! I do not believe that you said that!!!

  64. You think you can win by telling people who are PRAYING that VOTE ME NOW; I am just giving you strategy, you see there is different wisdom in this world; what takes one to the TOP is political wisdom. Currently the nation is praying, at least that is what we are told, so read the mood, take a step or two that will gain you the Obama kind of applause, and then take your chance……. at the right time. That is POLITICS.

  65. Old guards have resurfaced on the scene.. Zuma Meets KK in the Post, and you guys should not underestimate KK. Imagine after him, Kafupi also medical case, LPM also medical case. Are you not seeing the pattern. In Zimbabwe, its Mugabe and the Tsang.. has failed to sweep him off.

These guys have something in common which they have hiden in those offices (Plot 1)

  66. MWEBANTU MWE.STOP PANICKING.ZAMBIA IS FULL OF INTELLIGENT PIPO TO RUN THIS NATION.LPM IS VERY ILL TO CONTINUE.

  67. Levy the best kataka Zambia ever had!!! Long live Levy!!!! Long live family tree, we intend to create a Korea like dynasty!!!
Levy the best kataka Zambia ever had!!! Long live Levy!!!! Long live family tree, we intend to create a Korea like dynasty!!!

Levy the best kataka Zambia ever had!!! Long live Levy!!!! Long l

  68. #76 ‘Reasonable time’ is what the constitution says.My own analysis of the whole issue is for cabinet to meet and put up a plan on when they can call for an election or indeed any action in order for the nation to move forward.Whatever this reasonable time it is, its cabinet who is supposed to set it.Obviously it is a relative term with a large margin of interpretations. We need to call for someone to tell us when this is going to happen.
On HH even if you are against the man sometimes its good to check out what he himself is actually saying, true or not, legal or not, correct or not then you can attack him on these basis.
    I hope this helps mwana!!!!

  69. I consulted a neuro surgeon driking mate here in SA and he briefed me that a vein or artery rupture on the brain is difficult to heal and lack of supply of oxygen to certain parts of the brain leads to permanent damage of that part of the brain in a matter of minutes and in turn the organs controlled by that part of the brain ceases to function and the chances of that person working up are as good as sending a human being to planet pluto. So what on earth are we waiting for to replace the presdo.

  70. Put on your life jackets, oxygen masks, exit windows are about to be opened as the auto piloted plane is running out of fuel and will soon crush land.

  71. ARE WE SAYING THERE IS NOTHING ON OUR CONSTITUETION THAT GIVES THE TIME FLAME THE KATEKA BEING SICK. IN SOME COMPANIES IF YOU ARE ON SICK OFF FOR 90DAYS THEN YOU ARE MEDICALLY DISCHARGED. WHAT ABOUT ZAMBIA THE COUNTRY. ARE WE SAYING THE KATEKA CAN BE ON SICK OFF FOR THE REST OF HIS TERM OF OFFICE THATS WHEN YOU DECIDE ON WHAT TO DO?

  72. BA MUTEMBO NCHITO MULIKWI? WHAT CAN WE DO NOW? IS IT TRUE NO PERIOD AS BEEN GIVEN FOR THE KATEKA’S SICKNESS. THEN IT IS A USLESS CONTITUETION

  73. IF ONE CAN BE PROSECUTED FOR MISUSE OF POWER WHILE IN OFFICE. WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO TO SOME ONE MISINFORMING THE COUNTRY. BA MUTEMBO NCHITO TWAFWENI.

  74. LPM IS A DIE HARD HE SHOULD BE A RAPPER!!!!!

    RAPPER:STATE COUNCILE
    SONG: 2 STROKES
    ALBUM: ILLEST PRESIDO ALIVE!!
    LABEL: STATE HOUSE RECORDS
    EXEC PRODUCER: VP, MULONGOTI
    SPECIAL THANKS TO: BANA CHIPO.

  75. Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat passed away at Percy Military Hospital in Paris, chief of Palestinian National Authority (PNA) Presidency Tayeb Abdel Rahim officially declared on Thursday morning on the official Palestinian Television.

hymmmmmm just some old news that got my attention..im not saying “lpm” is dead ala nzelu zou malone zaza uko!!!! lol

  76. we need to direct all our concerns to cabinet as they are mandated by all Zambians to guide us in such situations.we have a constitution to guide us but even the constitution needs to be implemented by cabinet when need be as it is now.
Lets not subject people who have nothing to do with this to insults

  77. Mwanawasa is just like any other person. If the government is giving us, false information let it be, If it is the right information good to the mwanawasa and the family.
How many family members have we lost?’ for levy to become an issue. We have had great people than levy. If its time up for him let it be
    Twanaka nama same old stories
Takwabapofye not even ba vice president ukuyapempulako sure.
There is something fishy going on

Tiyeni tubombeko it’s a Friday mind you
    Walanwa amenshi
    Lobe

  78. nothing wrong in drinking water – its healthy

anyway, yes, cabinet has increased its salaries

it shows that they will not give up their postions any soon. they will not announce LPM death (if he died) and even his incapacitedness. they cnat leave they jobs
u can imagine Sylvia masebo with no money to buy makeup, her face would finish badly.

    anyway, Zambia ichalo chesu
    bwafya.

ala ubuchushi bubi. Mulongoti without that job would just be a villager.

  79. cabinet has increase and approved its salaries, what about the teachers, civil servants?

these people have no one at heart
they just want to satisfy themselves

    shame on them

    shamuna bane! Shame!!!

  80. Bonjour mes aimes! ‘ere iz zee latest urpdate on your prezidunt Monsieur Mwanawasa. Hee iz currently injoying zee coffee and croissant ziss morning. Hees condition iz, how you say een Eenglish….stable! Merci.

  81. I mwe ma Zed you must really like your Prez. I know that if I was the one who fell ill some over zealous chap like Morgan would have claimed my spot………I am glad am not!!!!

  82. when the cat is way..the mouse play..

Cabinet has approved its salaries by about 100%. From averages of K8M to K25M. Other increments includes 100% housing, fuel, cell phone talk time e.t.c

..when Sata,Chongwe & Dr Manda talks about a medical board, ati bad timing..when they avail themselves heft perks (in the absence of their boss…no bad timing comes into play??

they need to be removed..the all bunch..and they will move…

  83. The whole cabinet needs to go as they have failed to guide the nation in this time of need. There is no hint for a future plan given the circumstances the country is in.No wonder they let LPM down by being so corrupt in his absence. They need to work up.Even Sata has come of age though late: I like the comments he made to the otgoing British High commissioner.Sense should prevail at the presnt time in Z.We need someone to be brave enough to summon the demands of the constitution which ever way the LPM issue is going to unfold.Yes we are praying for him and yes he is recovering but we need guidance in case of any inventualities and this will stop people speculating.

  84. Zambia is screwed if we keep voting useless bastard into government. we need to change the constitution. we’ve got a cabbage of a president who keep getting sick and worrying the nation and a cabinet full of ass kissers. Zambia is going to be an totalitarian state soon. the law against “insulting/criticising” the president is just the beginning. soon freedom of speech will be gone. we seriously need to change the constitution and work towards giving the people more power (not too much power otherwise we’ll find ourselves facing another problem). the next president should be more of a socialist who works towards sorting out the issue of poverty and the huge gap between the rich and the poor.
