We are Improving-Renard

Share

Herve Renard says Zambia are improving despite winning bronze on Sunday at the just ended Cosafa Cup tournament in Mpumalanga.

The Frenchman said is today upon arrival with the team from South Africa a day after Zambia beat Madagascar 2-0 in a much-improved display of their 3rd and 4th playoff game at Thulamahashe.

“We were the best team at the tournament even if we finished 3rd and improved with each game,” Renard said.

“After this (tournament) I can tell you that we are not far.

“It was a good experience for local players to play at this international level to learn and can say we have a team for the Ivory Coast 2009 CHAN qualifier in November.”

Renard added that three players had made a mark at the tournament to warrant regular call-ups and would certainly be on the flight for next weeks 7-day training camp in Germany.

He singled out Power Dynamos defensive midfielder Francis Kasonde, Young Arrows defender White Simwanza and Henry Banda the Zanaco midfielder.

Renard again picked Banda as Zambia’s best player at the Cosafa Cup tournament adding that midfielder Noah Chivuta of South African Premier League defending champions SuperSport United had done enough to win a regular place in the team.

“We already know Emmanuel Mayuka and Roger Kola but I saw two revelations and for me it was Henry Banda who doesn’t even play regular at his club,” Renard said.

“I also saw Noah Chivuta who played in midfield and defence and we need players like him.

“We are happy with some players but some players were not consistent playing good in one game and not so good in the other but am not saying they are bad no,” he said.

Renard said the team was now entering the next phase with the Germany training camp from August 15-24 that will be used as build-up for their 2010 World/Africa Cup Group 11 qualifier against Togo game on September 6 at Konkola Stadium in Chililabombwe.

“Maybe half of the squad from this team will be in the match against Togo,” Renard said.
“7 or 8 local player’s maybe. It will be a different level and the level is not the same (As the Cosafa Cup).”

And Sundays win over Mozambique Renard’s first competitive victory in 90 minutes of open play without securing a triumph via penalties thanks to goals from Warriors striker Mayuka and Power Dynamos forward Francis Kombe who scored sweet volleys in the 56th and 70th minutes respectively

  1. Talk is cheap, wait for Togo then you can talk.Otherwise, for now let have our hands closed and wait and see.

  2. anyone with Hearves past succeesses. has he ever won any trophies before and how did he found himself in Zed. i dont trust this guy to deliver.

  3. imwe ba kolokombwa just shut up and let the coach do his job ala!!!!
he doesnt have gud players yet, the guy is still trying to build a team but all u chaps can do is talk and mulandafye amashinshia yekayeka!!!!!

  4. Going forward coach should use sinkala in midfield and maybe mbesuma upront as well. However we should just admit that we do not have a team. AFCON in Ghana was a circus, epecially against cameroon.

  5. let’s wait for togo…that’s when this coach should go where their know him…and PP should come back and build the team becoz he can go no way other than zambia. He just getting free money from africa

  6. It’s gonna take a long time to build a strong team,at the moment Hervé is trying to see who is who amongst his players and he needs everyone’s support despite the negative results at the moment,we cannot keep changing Team Managers like underwear.

  7. Elo yazanda nomba Whats is mozambique even green baffalo or red arrows can win those guys lets play friendly games with much stronger teams like egypt Ivory coast thats when we can know our state for now we are still in the red line of danger and why play in Germany with second division clubs thats wasting tax payers money lets play big teams i end here other wife unga tuke fumu

  8. Hi guys, give the coach a chance. The bullets at the coach are somehow too early. Hang your guns and pistols on the walls in your bedrooms.

  9. Were do we rely go wrong guys is it because we dont keep players and may be maintain coaches as well we need to find the root cause of this problem at hand always going back to the drawing board the boards are also to full lets do some thing now those cups even african cup are for us to win and get not always us fans being heart broken coz of poor results awe mwe every after two years we get penuts

  10. Christopher Katongo has finally moved to Germany I hope the new team will keep him in good shape as BRONDBY. I have little Knowledge about this new team, all the best CHRIS.

  11. #13 Foolish. Skanka Pakunya iwe. You are paying the current coach $10,000 a month and you ask for another coach to teach shooting. This coach on hand its his duty!!

  12. Ifipuba na bamano baleumfwika efyo balelemba.Continue writing.Criticise, analyse, oppose or support the coach sensibly. As of now PP is gone.Herve is in control whether you like it or not.

  13. Good win for Zed but against “weak” opposition.Ras is right, lets wait for the Togo game and then we’ll know for sure wether Renard’s team is going anywhere.

  14. #18 sounds childish, he came for greener pastures, are u sure, do you have greener pastures than what he left in france? you are just jalous of the coach, take up his job if at all you can.the man is doing a good job and i think he has to be given a chance and support too.you are quick to comment, put yourelf in his shoes, given the job, would do you make a change at once or you need time to assess players like what he is doing now.be realistic.hope next time you will think before you react, this goes to all bloggers who are complaning about this coach.
learn to support one another.the man came for the job like any another coach , he did not come for greener pasture.

  15. Good luck Chris, I know you will make it. Mwaiche baku pela na number 10, mu chinshi mu Europe. Show them, I look forward to watching you play, Cheers

  16. exposure is all what our players need………..let these guys play against european, south american players. thats why wen they played cameroon, the guys couldnt believe it.the fear overcame them!

  17. Myself.
The problem is always as I say that in Zambia we have done away with the nursaries were soccer is born. Don’t you even see the difference between a child who has been to the nursary and that one who has gone straight in grade one? We have taken to music, everyone now is a musician. If I were Renards I wouldn’t have accepted the job until the house is put in order.

  18. Ka Coach aka katampa ukuvoka sana. He lost to a south african developmental side made up of division 2 , mvela league players and got his ka first real win against madagascar. we will wait for the togo game to prove what has made him excited now.

  19. I don’t think a win over Madagascar can be used as a yardstick to measure Zambias improvement because we have always won against that unfortunate country. We all know that harve is not a coach but only a physical instructor and nothing good is gonna come out of him.

  20. Those that are calling for PP to come back are living in the past. PP is finished, he even finished the team at AFCON.Even his finished Nkana is not doing well. Let’s not go backward. PP has had his time and weaknesses. Herve wants to build his team. Most of you condeming him did not watch the matches. Idid, I concur with him that zambia has really improved. Madascar was not an easy team to beat, they squandered one or two chances, but it was a matter of brilliance from the Man of the moment Muyuka and Kombe to silence Madagascar. Hey, it must have been the best match of the tournament too. I was so impressed with the team.

  21. In two to three years time, Mayuka is gonna be a gem of a player. The chap is too strong and good for his age. Let him go to Portugal, even after a year , believe me, he wont be the same player. I am so amazed at his workrate and skill.

  22. #28 you are right. It is like sowing maize and expecting to eat tomorrow. I think this guy needs time. PP we lost 5-1 to Cameroon with PP, that was a disaster

  23. #28 you are right. It is like sowing maize today and expecting to eat tomorrow. I think this guy needs time. PP we lost 5-1 to Cameroon with PP, that was a disaster

  24. I have a very bad feeling about Chris Katongo’s Move to Germany

I dont even know why they are worried about his scoring Prowess

at Brondby..This Arminia Bielefeld team is hopless u would

think some Bigger Teams would have snapped him up instead..plus

i hope we havent forgotten that this guy has done well in terms

of scoring.. being that he is a Midfielder *CUM* Striker not

many players convert and start banging in goals on a regular

basis..all i can say is good luck to the O’l Chap and all the

best in helping ur new team dodge relagation..:)) for the next

    few seasons..

  25. And stop calling for Renards head…Blame the players for once

they are the Culprits.. too much trying Kunyuyannyunya and trying

to play exotic football sometimes a single one two bang its a

GOAL and everyone is happy and Bob’s ur Uncle..!!

u watch and see how much trouble Chelsea will be in this

season even with the Best Coach in the World (Scolari)

  26. I HATE TO SAY “I TOLD YOU SO” I am still consistent about this guy and the consistency being “PESSIMISTIC”, I am willing to give him all the tym in the world to prove me wrong. From what I see of all the matches I have watched under him, he is not tactically up to the job, if there are people who know Stephen Komphela the coach for South Africa Under 20 something, that is a guy we say he can read the game. I will be more than happy to eat my words.

  27. 35, Stephen Komphela can read the game? How come the SA U-23 are not in China? Do you know that people are calling for his head? But his brother is a big shot in ANC defending him.

  28. # 36 Shidada his brother is the Chairman for some parliamentary sports committee. He was in the fore front in criticising Rugby coach. he has been numb on his brother Stephen. He has a big mouth big time

  29. We are improving indeed. We have been complaining about not having scored a goal from open play. For those who did not watch the game, well we did not only score a goal from open play but we scored two from the top drawer. Now we can hope for better things to come.

Congratulation Harverihno. I saw that bit about interpretation too.

  30. Fellow Zambians,

My comment is an attempt to give an objective criticism. Indeed the way Zambia played at the just ended COSAFA was bad despite winning agaist Mozambique.
But if you look critically at the performance of individual players, I thought that there was some comfidence displayed by a number of them. Look at Henry Banda and Francis Kasonde who were able to follw defenders although I agree we have a serious problem in scoring. Physically the team looks better and unless you were attentive to listen to comments from the commentotors, you will agree with me. Renard is therefore on the right path although he should not be complacent. Zambias need better results. Afterall his coming was through a back door.

  31. I think we need to give the coach time to assess all players. He can’t just select players as directed by fans. Mind you, he has never seen quite a considerable number of Zambian players in action at club level and some at national team level. Let’s give him chance and see what he can do. You can’t just come up with a squad out of nowhere. The squad is for every one and each player has to be there on merit and not on past performances.

  32. Miss Pipo, I doubt you are a Zambian lady, with this knowledge of soccer. You are a man. But thanks for Komphela, true he does not say a word about his brother.

  33. FWE BA SENSE SHALL WAIT…. To say we were the best team when we could not conjure real chances against SA development side and utterly dismal against Mugabe Boys is rather like saying a black man like Obama is white. We did better gainst Malagasy admittedly but best team my FOOT!. We shall wait for Togo. Then no excuses…PITCHES AND BLAH BLAH… Renard if you watch this blog: show us the way to AFCON 2010 OR WE SHALL SHOW YOU THE DOOR! SIMPLE!

  34. #42. spot on. Soccer is about results. If good pitches made teams SA would be world champions.
Egypt has no pros playing in big leagues in Europe yet they have won AFCON last two times.
If this chap does not beat Togo we will be calling for his head period!!

  35. If zambia needs results consider coming up with such a line up ok.
    Line up yaba zambia

    kennedy mweene,….south africa

  36. wats wrong with this line up..can some else come up with a line up,coz i think are the best players zambia has at the moment

  37. #45 and 50 its not christopher Mulenga, But Katongo. Forget about Sichone and sinkala, we have some budding players coming up- Kalaba, chansa stophira can play in the midfield, whiteson simwanza, Billy, chintu and hopefully Tana recovers. But we should be going forward rather than backiwards. Lets us not rely on tired legs.Lets give younger players a chance.

  38. # 45, I have never heard of a player called Christopher Mulenga even from the previous national teams. Waba Chibuku Warriors nangu shani? Just below Collins Mbesuma.

  39. #1 from what you have written, i can tell that youare a serious bowling player with no clue on football so just shut up and conentrate on bowling and perhaps shot put

  40. As long as we do not invest in our beautiful game not even mourinho can improve the status-quo. Investor come and get all the profits and they do not invest anything into sport and all we get are meagre salaries. And you call this development? Just have a look at our stadias. Zanaco football club is about to be history or orphaned. As long as Govt continues to privatise without looking at the social economic impact our beloved game will continue to go down.

  41. can some one then tell or come with the best line up..coz i think those are some of the best players we have at the moment

  42. Why is it that People on this Site like to impersonate other

people #57 u cant even spell Ronald Poulsen correctly 4 times u

used it and spelt it wrong every single time…get a real

name/Nickname or better still stay annoymous

on some real stuff now if leagues in Europe are on recess let

the older players like Sinkala and Sichone come and train with

these young boys that everyone has faith in and give them a few

tips and tricks of the game am sure all those old players put

in one team against the young kids they would form a

formidalble sparring opponent bola ipwa mumolu noti mumutwe

unless our zambian players lose everything nga ba pwa..

  43. #14 Mbdzi, please mind you language. May it was your mum who was skanking when giving birth to you. How come you are so fluent in using that terminology??
Mind your language Koswe, makaaka, nyangalakataaa iwee!!!
