First Republican President Kenneth Kaunda is scheduled to lead soccer fans to cheer the Senior Zambia National team’s crucial match against Togo on Saturday at Chililabombwe’s Konkola Staduim.

Zambia Voluntary Soccer Fans Association (ZAVOSOFA) patron Peter Makembo confirming in a release, Thursday, said that his association has written an invitation letter to Dr Kaunda to lead fans at the crunch match.

” Soccer fans, your excellency are inviting you to lead Zambia in the joint Africa / World Cup game against Togo which is our crucial qualifying game, ” read part of the letter obtained by ZANIS.

Pastor Makembo adds in the letter that Dr Kaunda’s presence at Konkola Staduim will be a very big booster to soccer fans and the national team.

He said that both soccer fans and the national team will be waiting to be watched by Dr Kaunda as he is the legend soccer fan number one.

Dr Kaunda who recently given ZAVOSOFA’s attire was during his 28 years in office renowned to always offer support to the Zambia national football team at international tournaments.

The former president’s gesture was a booster enough for most players such as the late Godfrey ‘Ucar’ Chitalu and Alex Chola use their football skills to score goals for Zambia.

It is with this in mind that the ZAVOSOFA patron is hopeful that the presence of KK would be magic enough to activate the scoring engine for chipolopolos.

Collins Mbesuma has signed a three-year contract with Mamelodi Sundowns and ended speculations that he might jump ship and join another team after Moroka Swallows had announced they were talking to the player.
The Zambian’s business manager confirmed that the player has put pen to paper after training with the club for the last three weeks where he was put under an intensive training regime to assess his true fitness levels and he appears to have come out unscathed.

  5. There had been reports that the man who scored an incredible 35 goals while at Kaizer Chiefs a couple of years ago was overweight, carrying a chronic knee injury and was generally a spent force with even more malicious rumours doing the rounds that Sundowns were wasting their money.

But on Thursday reports from Chloorkop indicated that the player has been looking very sharp at training and displaying certain aspects about his game and certain techniques that were absent during his initial stay in South Africa before he won a contract to join English Premiership side Portsmouth.

  6. “I would be the first to admit that he has certainly looked very sharp and hungry,” admitted executive technical director Ted Dumitru. “And I think head coach Trott Moloto had no hesitation in making certain recommendations to management for their final decision.”

The recommendations were certainly impressive as far as the Sundowns management were concerned and on Thursday an offer was tabled for Mbesuma and he finally signed for the Brazilians, bringing to 13 the number of new players that have been signed since the off-season.

  7. You ungrateful fools. Thirsty for what leadership? What attention? He was just invited remember. Mulekwata insoni. Atase

  8. Has the Zambia-Togo game been rescheduled? I thought it should have been played in September? I thought few days ago I read somewhere that the national team will camp in Europe to prepare for this clash. Can someone marry these two…

  9. Mbesuma should not go to Germany, let him show committment at Sundowns than call him for Togo.

  10. KK Soccer No.1 how? because since this man left the office i’ve never seen him watching zambian games live, wether in chili’s or independence stadium. what a soccer fan. and more over he is just invited.

  11. big Mbesuma, every week i will be coming to watch you. good news you are in the city. go zed go. wapya walemana

  12. Should Zambia head coach Herve Renard recall back Andrew Sinkala ahead of the 2010 African/World Cup qualifier clash against Togo on September 6? Have your Say.

  13. This old man is a wizard. Now chipolopolo have employed a wizard to make sure they secure victory against togo. Togo should not allow him to kick the ball Before kickoff.

  14. Imwe what is the story? leave the boy mbesuma alone, pali potential go zed go, some of u hav never kicked chimpombwa.

  15. I am ashamed at some shameles ones. sorry for my harshness. How can you say KK wants attention? well, the man has had it all. He is being invited. He is a symbol of Zambia in soccer. I was in Swaziland and now I am in South Africa. In both these countries the only national team people applaud is “the KK eleven”.
Try as I may, I fail to disuade these people to the current team even during its most promising spells. They made a name. they had a number one supporter,KK. You say “Zambia was great.” I ask, “when?”. It was when KK was known as the number one supporter. It will surely bring magic to the team.It will be to us like the “Madiba magic” to South Africa and the World.
    Its Great news!

  16. Pls togo invite FTJ aswell.I got you Levy as your ref.Im sure he ll do his job well from his bed after that nice Jog in paris Town centre while mulongoti and katele(Mfwiti ya Technology)battle for his nest back home……….Enjoy there daily games on you coz THATS WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A ZAMBIAN……cheap at thought, passive and forgetting easily…..

  19. KK wamuyaya. Anyone with an issue with him to hell. The man has character I have never seen in any Zambian. He will really motivate the boys.

  20. Chapwa bola twalusa. KK waminyama. The KK eleven never one any AfCON or a trip to the world cup becoz KK used to kick the ball b 4 they play.

i thought the Togo game is first week September and the team is in Germany for two weeks.

You see u bring in KK and now the dates are confusing.

  21. KK was annoyed when he lost elections and immediate his white katambala killed all his namesake team KK 11.

  22. Can we allow Kaunda to act as President for now as we wait for Mwanawasa. He can bring back the dignity of the nation given even just 10 days.

  23. Whats the importance of knowing the town in which the team will be based. What are you looking for. You want to go and beg from the boys. No ways man. Their base is a secret. We have to protect our team from beggars like you.

  24. Who is going to pay for KK’s transportation and accomodation. I guess he is going to spend a nightin Chillis.
Aby way we need his presence.
    Good luck chipolopolo boys

  25. # 50 i think my question was as polite as it reads. Neither did i provoke anybody or pressured anyoe to answer my ques. By the way im not a begger will i will be one. Just wanted to give them my moral support. Thanx for your cleverness. Dont put words in my mouth. Good luck chipolopolo boyz.

  26. Super Ken`s presence will add more color to game. Its upto the players to deliver. Please Herve, no further experiments this time. Pick a team which will be to humble Togo.

  28. 53 are u mr bean or what. Why are you popping your ugly nose in our good discussion with hon. Kangwa nsuluka. Leave us alone man. Its a family affair. We shall quarrel but later on embrace.

  29. # Ba Kangwanasenuka!

The Chipolopolo will be camped at the RUIT SPORTS ACADEMY in Stuttgart for 10 days and will play preparatory matches against local sides

  30. #53 thanx a lot. #50,57 meeting your country mate in a foreign land is so wonderful if you dont know espeacialy in a country like this. Conman hope you will be with the team too in Bunders. I will offer you a drink as we will get courage to our lads.

  31. Lets be careful with old mushunfwa. he still relishes the idea of becoming President. even now he thinks he is the acting President!!!!

  32. Glory, glory, glory, old Mushumfwa like to be glorified, no wonder he cannot leave in private life like his agemate mandela.

  33. Avoid making silly comments against KK,he did his best for this nation but anyhow who among us is perfect?P/S There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving and that is your own self.KK’s presence in my veiw would be a big boost to our alreasdy very slim chances of qualifying but KK,FTJ & even LPM’s presence would even be a bigger boost coz these guys need to reconcile and where else could this be possible apart from our beautiful ZED.Be positive en enjoy life

  34. Freedom of speech on this blog does not mean that one has to sink so low to the extent of using the french language as in most cases above. ‘Take a breath before posting anything on this blog’. As for the owner of this website, please do not forget that a complaint from the Zambian government can have this website closed. If you are an ICT person, you will be well versed with this. “No one is above the law”. So a wise man said.

  35. Stop insulting the patriarch, ba mbuli. Zambia is a small country with small events compared to South Africa. You can’t expect KK to stay cvompletely out of national events: a new broom sweeps clean but the old broom holds the corner! Mwa ikata?

  36. cn u pls screen messages before publising them.Im disgusted with sum messages pipo think all of us were at unza drinking chibuku in kalingalinga

  37. KK presence will defintly bring back the fresh days of the once famous “KK eleven” which even Italy would defintly hate to play agianst at the olympics rite now.

  38. You people you forget so easly KK (was) number one soccer fan but not now.Do you remeber What he did when the zambia nation team died.KK never bothered even to attend the funeral or burial of the team which was called by his name but choose to leave the country at that time. what a (no1.soccer fan)you talk about.

  39. KK’S POSITION ON THE GABON DISATER WAS BASED ON INSIDER INFORMATION ON THE CAUSE OF THE CRASH! SOMEBODY WAS TO BLAME, THAT ASIDE, THE ZAMBIA NATIONAL SOCCER TEAM MUST STOP USING THAT WHITE AND BLACK JERSEY. IT IS IRRITATING POORLY DISIGNED AND DOES NOT REFLECT ANY NATIONALISM AT ALL.

THE ONLY COULOURS THAT MUST BE WORN BY ALL ZAMBIAN SPORTS TEAMS INCLUDING THE NATIONAL SOCCER TEAM ARE ORRANGE, GREEN, RED AND BLACK!
