Orphans pray for Dr. Mwanawasa

Share

Children from different orphanages and organizations today gathered at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross to pray for the quick recover of President Mwanawasa.

The children sang songs of praise and gave out petitions of prayer during the church service.

Seventeen year-old, Davie Tembo from the Children In Need (CHIN) said during the service that it was important for children to unite and get involved in praying for the quick recovery of Dr Mwanawasa.

Tembo said children across the country have also been affected by the illness of the President adding that they should not be deprived from contributing to praying for his quick recovery.

He said children are praying for the President’s quick recovery so that he can heal quickly and come back to continue with his duties.

Speaking earlier, Pastor Godfridah Sumaili from Jesus Care Ministries said the illness of Dr Mwanawasa has affected the whole nation adding that children should not be hindered from praying for him.

Pastor Sumaili noted that children have a special place in the Kingdom of God adding that their prayers for the quick recovery of the President shall definitely be answered.

She has since called on Zambians to relentlessly pray for the recovery of Dr Mwanawasa.

And Reverend Sam Sakala from World Vision who read fro the book of Mark chapter 10 versus 13-16 said the nation should facilitate the participation of children in spiritual prayers.

Meanwhile, Chieftainess Sikabeta of the Soli people in Chongwe District has called on Zambians to maintain the momentum in praying for President Mwanawasa’s speedy recovery.

The chieftainess further urged the citizenry to put aside political, religious and any other differences, and remain united.

She and the people in her chiefdom are greatly disturbed with the illness of President Mwanawasa.

Chieftainess Sikabeta said she and her subjects are impressed with President Mwanawasa’s commitment to moving the nation forward.

She said this in Chongwe today when Education Permanent Secretary Lillian Kapulu and United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) country Representative Lotta Sylwander paid a courtesy call on her at her palace.

The traditional leader said the entire chiefdom is praying for the quick recovery of Dr Mwanawasa so that he would return home and continue with national development.

She noted that under Dr Mwanawasa’s administration, traditional leaders have been greatly appreciated citing, among others, the recent purchase of vehicles for chiefs countrywide and the introduction of the House of Chiefs.

And speaking earlier, Education Permanent Secretary Lillan Kapulu said government remains committed to providing quality education to all children in the country.

  1. Just forget about him continuing with national development. Do you people know the effect of a stroke? Worse still a second stroke. Anyway miracles do happen. Let us continue with the spirit of standing in the gap for him. He surely will answer our prayers but we also need to know the status. “STABLE” is not good enough. Ba mama Maureen don’t just thank us for the love and bla bla. Say something about how your husband is doing now! We need it badly

  2. Was this initiated by the children? I don’t think so. Lets not use the children. I guess some of them didn’t even know what was going on. Just as much as we are all praying for LPM, lets not get to such levels.

  3. why are you involving children in this thing? what do they know? are they affected by LPMs’ sickness? Those are innocent souls that awaits for the sun to rise and set. To make matters worse they are orphans and you forcing them to pray for LPM will make them miss there parents. Why should they pray for LPM when they could not pray for the late parents..do not trouble the souls am bitter. silly thinking. we are tired of this now….

  4. I do not know why other people have anger on illness of someone? Is it because they do not know God? Can I say they are those called satanic worshipers who are always happy when the see dead bodies? Involving children in praying for Mwanawasa was not wrong and should be encouraged. This should not only involve those from orphanage centres, but even the whole Zambian nation, let our children participate in praying for the quick recovery of our president. Politics aside, as Zambians, let us show love to one another.

  5. this is unacceptable. people want to capitalise on levy’s illness to make names. children should be left out of this.

  6. stop using the children with your propaganda.Instead make sure that they go to school.

  7. Pls leave our children out of this KULIBONESHA, you hypocrites bcoz thats what you. Most of you pastors are doing this to win favours from grz.

  8. Stop disturbing the children! Let them play kalambe other games now that it is holidays. If you want children to pray, why not go and round up sumaili’s?

  9. This is child abuse. Stop it!! All you fake church leaders that have nothing to do with your time should just shut up and stop pandering to politicians’ whims! Don’t abuse these poor orphans to achieve your own diabolical political schemes. Just ask for your brown envelops without hiding behind the orphans! What’s wrong with you? If it’s not adultery and fornication it is abusing defenceless kids!!! K What kind of Christian nation is this?

  10. These children would have been better off praying about their plight. Levy is receiving the best human care, which they dont have, cant even access in their dreams. Do they even have to ask for divine intervention on his behalf, privileged as he already is? Maybe am satanic as someone comments, but surely let us not sink beyond the levels we have already exceeded!

  11. eehh ms booty #12 watulandila ko bonse, bakabwa aba are abusing kids. come skools the kids wont be looked at..ata tu pastor twabufiii

  12. This is purely child labour, now that its school holidays the kids are suppose to be studying or playing games not working on behalf of you punkie pastors.

  13. WE KNOW THAT LPM IS SICK AND ITS NOT NEWS.THE MAN HAS BEEN SICK EVEN BEFORE AU SUMMIT.FTJ DECLARED ZAMBIA A CHRISTIAN NATION JUST TO CONCEAL HIS MISDEEDS.NOW WE THINK THAT DRAGGING THE INNOCENT ORPHANS INTO THE SO-CALLED PRAYERS WILL MAKE US A HOLY NATION FOR LEVY.YES THE BIBLE SAY PRAY FOR YOUR LEADERS BUT NOT IN THIS PHARISEE MANNER.ALWAYS ON DISPLAY.LEKENI ABANA BAIKALILE IF YOU THINK THIS IS THE WAY TO LOBBY FOR FUNDS YOU ARE MISTAKEN.EVERYONE WHO PRAYS IS ON TV,TV,TV….NO OTHER NEWS @ ZED.DO IT THE BIBLE WAY PLEASE!!!!!!

  14. why are they praying in the first place?Mulongoti and his fellows are fooling us!what report did brian Chituwo give in Parley?let the orphans find better things than wasting their time…we need to know the state of LPM!!

  15. let the children be involved LPM is the leader of the nation they could be orphans yet they have a heart to pray for the leader unlike other people who think they are been abused when did prayer ever become an abuse that is blasphmouse grow up people.

  16. #19 Iwe chimutwe, You are using poverty/hunger sicken children to advance your own agenda of lobbying for funds to grz for your fornicative/adulterous pastors, leaving poor orphans with litte or nothing at all.

  17. Apart from #5 & 19, I think these are the most unproductive comments I have ever come across. There is nothing wrong in engaging children in prayer. After all, some of these organisations such as Jesus Cares have done the great work of plucking these children from the streets and putting them in school. All you misers can do is talk and yet you can’t help and put your money where your loud mouths are? Would you rather they roam the street? Besides, children are also able to follow the events unfolding in our nation. They know Levy as their president and must be allowed to pray for him. Most of you are without shame.

  18. If u knew anything at all, you’d realise that Pastor Sumaili is an honourable woman of God who apart from being Chaiperson of Children in Need Network (CHIN), is also a commissioner in the Human Rights Commission. These are organisations of good repute and outstanding contribution to the nation. They don’t deserve your insults.

  19. Stop using children for political mileage? those children should be praying for a secure future instead of wasting time on an individual who does not care about their welfare? greedy individuals can do anything for money? only a miracle can save LPM, and unfortunately he already utilized the miracle in 2006 when he survived the first stroke….only time will tell?

  20. I hear our President has a similar medical device implanted in his neck just like the one they used for the late Pope John Paulo(II)? Could someone with some medical mental power please enlighten me on this?
