-Zanaco have fired head coach Wesley Mondo just after 19 games since the start of the season.

Mondo was fired on Monday and the club has appointed player-coaches Numba Mumamba and Kelvin Kaindu in a caretaker role.

This will be the second time Kaindu and Numba will be in temporal charge in exactly 12 months after Mondo’s predecessor Fighton Simukonda was fired in August 2007.

Zanaco are currently 8th on the Faz Premier League table on 27 points, five less than leaders Zesco United.

Mondo’s previously coached Zesco, City of Lusaka, Kabwe Warriors and Kalulushi Modern Stars

-Zambia on Tuesday evening beat amateur side Kirchhiem 2-0 in a training game in Germany where they are holding a 10-day training camp..

Herve Renards sides win was secured thanks to a brace from Zanaco striker Roger Kola.

The match was the first on Zambia’s 10-day training camp in Germany that begun last Friday and ends this Monday.

However, Faz said today that it is still consulting as to whether to play a second training game due to the death on Tuesday of Zambian president Levy Mwanawasa after the national day of mourning was extended from 7 to 21 days.

Meanwhile, the Zambia’s Under-17 national team is expected to go into camp this Friday in Lusaka to prepare for their 2009 Algeria Caf Africa Under-17 Cup 1st round home leg match against Namibia on August 30 in Lusaka.

Namibia, who have had a 20-man team in camp since August 8, are due to arrive in the country on August 26 by road.

Namibia reached this stage after beating Lesotho 9-0 on aggregate after winning 5-0 away in Maseru before completing their rout in the return leg in Windhoek via a 4-0 victory.

Winner between Zambia Namibia will take on either South Africa or Malawi in the final 2nd round matches to be played in November.

  1. I think the team should be allowed to continue with the preparation games as they are not of a competitive nature and there is no celebration.

  2. The National team is already in Germany. Let them just go ahead with what ever they are doing. If business in Zambia can go on then we can let the LADS with there PREPARATIONS. We are mourning for our dear president quite oky, but as Nation we cant afford to mourn for the second time when we loose to TOGO.

  3. I think its absolutely silly to cancel preparatory matches going on in Germany. Togo will be well prepared and have assembled a squad of essentially all European based players. If we cancel our games, it will only add to an already bleak looking outing for the boys against the Hawks. Let them go on with their matches as planned.

    R.I.P LPM

  4. Life should continue even if levy was still alive he would let them finish the germany program i say let them play there games. kola kushaina kuka lower division club then when we play togo u does rabbish thats the problen luck of consistanc

  5. The other thing is that what those guys are doing is work and goverment has said all work should continue as normal so football is ther job they should work as normal like all of us are doing they will get paid . we gonna get paid too

  6. It was great to see our boys shine in Kirchheim yesterday. Tonight, they are in Nürnberg watching Germany play against Belgium. I will keep you informed of their programme, they’re camped not far away from where I live.

  7. My Germany friend, here in America who is a soccer fan, just told me that he has never heard about the team Zambia beat 2-0 in a friendly match.

He said, ” You guys spend money going to Germany to play small teams like this one, i have never even heard about.”

I said, “i don’t know what to say.”

  8. I wonder what goes in the mind of FAZ. Honestly why even comteplate cancelling preparatory games as if Togo will empathise with us when play them. Cmon, its business as usual, these are changing times. Makes me sick to know we got pipo like these in charge of our soccer. Get on with it!!

  9. I AGREE WIT ALL Y’ALL SENSIBLE FOLKS I HAVENT SEEN A BLOG SO WEL THOUGHT ABOUT ON THIS WEBSITE….LOL(OR IS ITS JUST COMMON SENSE ANYWAY) ;|

  10. one thing i dont undastand is that pipo who are in germany ant going to play but the so called professionals who ar in southern province oh south africa will. only to loose. how can one study en anada sits for exams. i think these soccer failings are planned. so that FAZ daznt pay a lot of mane wen they win. en go further in stages.

  11. # 7 Winnie the po…you can tell ur GERMAN FRIEND

that the Zambian teams trip to germany was paid for in full by

    the German FA

on the issue of playin hopless teams Beggers can be choosers

mate although i still think its better than stayin in Zed and

playing city of lusaka as a prep match for the TOGO game

  12. #11 Black feet, How sure are you that the Germany FA paid for the Zambian team? I do not believe so, therefore, i will not go and start parroting lies to a well informed person.

Please produce evidence that the Germany Govt did so and i will do as you wish.

  13. let the guys continue with the program. however i shouldnt be misquoted as saying the mourning is not important, just like we cant stop working for 21 days let the lads continue working.

  14. fickle minded *****s in FAZ have no common sense. I wonder what they will give as an excuse if Togo beats Zambia in Chililabombwe. I hope no one will say because we were mourning LPM.

  15. Faz is useless and the coach is useless too. Come september 6, Zambia will not beat Togo. Good experienced players have been left out of the team.

  16. Let the guys continue with the Prepatory matches,as thinhs have continue as normal back here in zambia. After all,may be it’s the last time they have such a chance to train in Germany becoznext trainning will be with the usual Mazembe bra bra from Congo!!!!!!!!

  17. Mind you togo has assembled a strong team to face zambia and a fews das ago they played congo DR in a friendly match in france where they are also camped.we don’t need to play amatuers in germany cause on sept,6 we shall face a strong team, therefore we need to play with high profile teams.you see now ukutemwa ifya free you can’t even organise a strong team. we are waiting 4 germany to orgarnise a team 4 us, FAZ Wake up please.

  18. Whats the Benefit of Zambia playing Division 5 and 6 teams in Germany. When our opponents Togo seriously playing DRC in France.Come Kalu open ur eyes on the BALL not BALLS.

Better send the boyz back hme we mourn ba levy pamo.

  19. Munee you’ve said the truth. This is the reason why Zambian fotball will not develop. We shud’ve organised a better african team for a friendly on a fifa date yesterday. We shud ‘ve called all the experienced players like Sinkala. Why is it that it’s difficult for zambia to get all its so-called professionals on a fifa date? Other countries like south africa, togo, congo dr, etc get all their players on this fifa recognised date? Even chamanga whose team is on recess surely couldn’t be released? Furthermore, we are playing an amateur side? What can we get from them? The boys in gerany are just on holiday. They will just come back with pot bellies and they will be failing to run. I know in all this, there is only one culprit, FAZ. kalusha where are your eyes? Why cant you learn from past faz executives surely? Whats the problem kanshi. I end here.

  20. I think although we are mourning our President, the soccer team should continue their preparations, they dont need to be in Zambia to mourn, Im not in Zed but im equally mourning our beloved Levy P. Mwanawasa. Im sure he would ask the team to continue if there was a way of communicating to them. Continue the training and let Levy rest in peace.

  21. Maybe the team should try to work extra hard to honour our late president instead of being on holiday as Analyst put it. Zambia used to be a team to watch, but now it just breaks your heart to see them get beaten by almost any soccer team that can manage to assemble 11 men, its time the team started taking their job seriously.

  22. Winnie the po, VFL Kirchheim is a 2nd division team and I saw the match, our boys were clearly sovereign and won easily despite bad weather conditions (rain). Just consider this match as part of the training programme, it is not too late to clash against a more pwerful side yet.

PS. LT I hope this change is positive by filtering filthy comments.

  23. I don’t understand until now what our football administrators are trying to accomplish with our national team. Why is it that all of them seem not to have a better vision for our team surely how can we be playing division five team as a preparatory match while the team we are preparing for is full of professionals. pliz ba faz have a shift of mind and show some professionalism just this once. Twanaka ukutamba ama midiocre displays by the national team.

  24. # 7 Winnie Po – you want proof that the Germany trip was paid by the Germany government? Am sure you do read papers on the net – it was signed by Minister of sport and Germany ambassador to Zambia in front of the media! Any more doubts – stop washing plates and come back home Zambian Amigo!!

  25. Winnie The Pooh.I think you just fictional as Pooh himself. Why do you need factional evidence if the trip to Germany was paid for by the Germany Govt.Either you not a Soccer Fan or you just woke.
Even you far the are a lot of ways to know whats happening in Zambia.
Do you even know who Zambia will be playing on Sept.6?

  26. C’mon guys I know we are all at pains trying to see how best we can help or is is assist those hopeless guys in FAZ. Anyone with some comments on what is happening at ZANACO? These hopeless guys as well used to have a very good coach who happens to be their employee led them to thier first Legue tiltle. They are now wasting this guy in Kitwe. Any Power supporter to vouch for me?

  27. If these satanyokos lose on 6 Sept 08, they will need beating!!. There is one African country where the President locked all footballers after they embarrassed the country by losing at the African Cup tournament.
This time the African Cup of Nations is near Zed and we cannot afford to miss it. Equally, World Cup is near Zed. This game mind you is the last one for us and once we lose, ninshi chapwa!!.
I’m sharpening my hippo shin shamboko should they lose because they are just kidding. The whip will first land on Kalusha’s ass.

  28. #10. Good observation. It goes back 20 yrs. Starting with the Kalu times,, as this was the period pros broke in Europe, the Zambia National team which camps in Zambia and plays friendlies 80 percent of the players never play the actual game.

They all show up in the final week citing club commitments. It has been a No brainer all along.

The only answer is the officials get to travel and make some money.

  29. #19. No good team wants to play us On a fifa date since we are so low in the rankings and quite franlky we stink. Until we start winning and qulifying to the world cup it will remain the same. Look at Nigeria , Ghana they all play Eourpean National teams. Remeber all the aother teams want to play good teams. Results like 1-1 aginst Swaziland won’t work.

Solution- Faz has to be smart. We should be playing an African country as preperatory and we should get a quality coach who won’t be whinning about players and focus on making them good!!

  30. #25 #26 and #28 u guys have saved this fool Winnie the Po or

whatever he wants to call him self…i was headed towards him

with fully loaded clips…how thick can one be honestly…??
