Corrected!
Thousands of people from Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia yesterday gathered at Mukaika palace of chief Paramount Kalonga Undi of the Chewe people to celebrate this years Kulamba Ceremony.
The event was characterised by traditional dances performance by various dance troops from the three countries.
Over 40 chiefs from Malawi, Zambia and Mozambique were among the people that gathered to celebrate the annual event.
Chiefs from Zambia included Chief Mukuni , Chief Chikanta and Chieftainess Mkomeshya and other local chiefs .
Acting President Rupiah Banda graced the occasion which was also attended by Ministers of Information Mike Mulongoti, Tourism Michael Kaingu , Presidential affairs Cecil homes , Community Development Catherine Namungala and other senior government officials.
The ceremony was meant to pay homage to paramount chief Gawa Undi by the Chewa Chiefs from the three countries.
Paying Homage , the Chewa chiefs informed the paramount chief about the governance issues, food security and other activities in their chiefdoms.
The first group to pay homage were chiefs from Malawi, followed by their Zambia counterparts and later chiefs from Mozambique.
Delivering his speech, Mr. Banda acknowledged the important role that chiefs play in fostering social and economic development.
He also lauded the paramount chief for his personal commitment and strong leadership in sustaining the Chewa culture through the Kulamba traditional ceremony.
At the same function, representatives from Malawei and Mozambique called for continued cooperation among countries in both traditional and political governance.

Tongas te bamuselela kwakaba filya mwaba ba post.
For sure..chi#2! Do you think this is Irish class?
# 3 – it’s not our fault that you are bale to read stories with typos !! There is nothing wrong with letting LT know that there are typos in their articles. The heading for instance, shoud be CELEBRATE and not ‘cerebrate’. LT must also be on the ball and not put items which appear as if they were written in a hurry – by a Grade 5 !
Bravo # 6… we cerebrating….. with the cabinate…
Some one from eastern province , if you recall, warned b4 the ceremony that there shouldn’t be any campains at the Kulamba, but I think RB went to campain. It seems the Chief already knows that Eastern is for RB so he prevented other parties from campaining indirectly or otherwise.
Its campaign … not campain!!!
For those still interested the following link is videos of the late president Mwanawasa RIP in Egypt, France and back to Zambia on the 19th August.i also have the video for the burial which if time allows be posted later today.

urgent meeting for all bloggers on this site!Iam deeply touched by the high level of stupidity on this site.Especially from zedians in the diaspora. How dare you create an impression that those back home dont understand things?I think they are intelligent pipo that know how to survive in had times. All diasporee are cawards that run away when times are had.Unfortunately i belong to diasporee community.
Lets encourage pipo home and support them with what we can.Buy them computer if you can or give info instead of insults.
i mean hard not had.
good to hear traditional ceremonies are still being upheld. keep it up coz you attract tourists in this way.
We have commercialised this traditional ceremonies and it is done just for the tourists and not for culture heritage. It is a pity that we are nolonger in love with such
#8 Its campaign and not “campain” echo balemwebele amafontin mwe atase.
To comment on typographic errors: the fact that we all make them just confirms the sad situation that we are still communicating in a foreign language forcibly imposed on us by a foreign people! We can’t be celebrating traditional ceremonies in our native languages just to come and start correcting each other’s English here! Isn’t it hypocritical?
#17 Thanks Nine Chale, what you have posted makes sense….However …it is typographical and not typographic….oops! sorry for that.
# 12 Worried, I am worried about your generalization of the situation you presented. We demand that you apologise irrevocably here and now! What gives you the authority to say that?
19 you dont use you twice in the same sentence kapoli. Which school did you go to.
#20 I will not insult back but what have I done to deserve your insults? Where have I used ‘you’ twice in any of my sentences above? Can you re-read please and get back to me if you are a real man. It doesnt matter where I learnt English – All I know is that in my moderation of the use of the language I am careful to avoid insults. Learn patience please
WELL, THOSE CHAPS HAD NOTHING TO DO, HENCE GATHERING THERE TO DO NOTHING. FOOLISH
Hahaha English extravaganza! I’m enjoying this.
Mwanawasa/Sata-(Before I die).
When it dawns on people that they are about to die and to join the spirit world they devolt their remaining days to attaining positive achievements.
After Levy Patrick Mwanawasa survived a road accident while serving as VP under FTJ, it dawned on him that he had a few years left on earth, hence he convinced, encouraged and motivated himself to expedite working on positive things so that he should leave a positive legacy and be rendered hero after his passing on. The rest is history.
It has dawned on Sata that before he passes on he must expedite working on positive things. He has told himself “everyone deserves a second chance, hence Michael go further”
Let’s write good English here. To get into any uni in Zambia or whole commonwealth you need grade 6 or better. If we can’t write good grammar, let spell well. Young Zambians in school up to secondary level also read this blog and will be picking wrong spellings. Remember English isn’t our mother tongue, we learn it by practicing. If you don’t know a particular spelling, write a bemba or nyanja (better still tumbuka)sound of it. In fact as you type Microsoft word system prompts you to edit where possible. Imwe bachatile mwila kofyuza baka sukulu with spellings. Bravo #9, #16 and others, continue correcting these careless bloggers. Check mine as well.
Let the best candidate win come October 31, young or old doesn’t matter. Good government is all about team work. I am not convinced with RB’s team yet and doesn’t know what team Sata or HH has . Somebody failed an interview here to become a lecturer because he kept on saying I, my, etc when he was presenting a mock lecture and work on his current research. Academicians work in a team, in a class it comprises students while in a research, research assistants; colleagues, technical staff, correspondents, etc, therefore no we or I applies, same with governing. So voters look for a good team (no corrupt people or job seekers)and good policies (education, health, employment/wealth creation
#10 RIP MWANAWASA, ive just watched the videos you uploaded! Fantastic and thanx! Please if you may, upload the burial video at your earliest opportunity and provide us with the link right on this forum! Will be waiting

Traditional ceremonies are key to national development. But why the ceremony was not attended by other political party presidents.
# 6 are you (bale) to read or able. certain things just have to be ignored the more you talk the more mistakes you make (yourself). Eng is a foreign lang. just get sense out of the senseless. if i write Zambia cerebrate or will have erection on the 30 then get the sense out of it. LT is not in an Exam room. just read the story and comment. many are the times they have mispelt words check Malawei. i wont bother i know its Malawi. They are not in grade 5 they are in a hurry to keep you informed and there computers do not have spell check.
