Share

The Zambia Under-20 national team departed for Egypt today ahead of
this Sundays Rwanda 2009 Africa Youth Cup 2nd round, 1st leg
qualifying match against Egypt Under-20 to be played in Alexandria.

Zambia national team coach Herve Renard and assistant trainer Patrice
Beaumelle were both in the traveling party together with Under-20 head
coach Oswald Mutapa jnr.

Renard said he was expecting a tough game considering Egypt’s pedigree
at junior level on the continent over the years.

“We know the challenge ahead of us is big and our aim is to get a good
result in Egypt although the game will be tough,” The Frenchman said
at Lusaka International Airport prior to departure on Wednesday.

“When you are playing a good team you should always be focused and you
should not be intimidated.

Egypt, who Zambia will be facing fourth time in an Africa Youth Cup
qualifier in a space of 9 years, have been African junior champions 3
times and runners-up twice.

“Their (Egypt) senior national team has been the best in Africa for
the past four years,” Renard said.

“So this tells you that their junior teams are also good but we are
ready for any challenge and our focus will be on the Sunday game.”

Meanwhile, 15 players traveled today with another 3 expected to join
the team in Egypt on Thursday.

They include Kabwe Warriors striker Emmanuel Mayuka who is currently
attending trails in Israel and midfielder Justin Zulu who plays for
Israeli 2nd division side Hapoel Beersheba.

  1. Ba FAZ basopo! we don’t want stories like Mayuka did’nt make it because of what and what.Remember the role he played in the game against Mauritius.

  2. Coaches are becoming more political, they asure you that everything is okay even if they know its not .Look at what happened to U17, their coach is not even accountable for the loss.
Fyebambi pali bola tatulala utulo nangu tu luse nangu to wine

  3. Sata should be FAZ president to clean up the mess at FAZ. How can Kalu replace the coaches who made the boys to qualify and bring in chi Renard. No chance againest the Egyptians, those chaps are well organised

  4. I think the coach is gay

Is he the same coach for the senior taem right.
I met him in some night club he refused to dance with chicks but jes men amd hit one of the guys bum.ouch

  5. #12 ba first lady its not ‘loosing’, its ‘losing’!No wonder you are supporting HH who does not even know what an offside is!Don’t mix football with politics. All the best to the boys(although they are men, some of them even married).

  6. i cant imagine that Kalu can show such enfireiority complex by dropping Zambian u20 coaches at the last minute. Its uncalled for and desrespectiful to our zambian coaches who i know are better than Renard
