Rioting pupils purged from school

Share

Kalomo High School in Southern Province has suspended 24 pupils for riotous behavior.

The 24, Grade 12 pupils, are alleged to have been part of the rioting pupils who last Saturday destroyed property worth millions of kwacha.

The pupils were slapped with the suspension after being released from the local state prison where they were remanded.

School Head Teacher, Muhali Muhali, who confirmed the suspension of the pupils to ZANIS in Kalomo today, said the affected pupils have also been fined K766, 000 penalty fee.

Mr. Muhali further said the affected pupils have with effect from yesterday been barred from the school and would only be allowed to come and write their final examinations.

He explained that over K9 million would be required to repair 187 window panes which were damaged during the riot.

Last Saturday pupils at  Kalomo High School  ran amok destroying school property in protest against what they claimed as inferior regard by their newly appointed ‘stand in’ grade 11 prefects.

The disturbance at the school also left 15 pupils injured.

  1. Those chaps involved should be dealt with accordingly, the Govt should even show linience, they are very stupid and retrogresive.

we can’t entertain such kinds of behaviour.

  2. God help us. Why do grade 12 pupils misbehave in the third term.
They feel like they are the only ones who have finished school. They don’t know this is just the beginning of tough life. They are looking for excuses for their bad results – come next year.

  3. Ala nama sukulu yamo just exist 4 the sake of being their,no foundation at all…thats how come u find such kind of stupidity…Imwe bashetani temafya tonawilapo ifipe ayabulokulondolaka ngayo.Mwalitumpa,if i was near i was going to deal with u personaly.

  4. Ba Gods Child Vote what do u mean no foundation. do u know how long this school has been in existance? Long before u where born. You think Leopards hill school has a foundation? bad manners bakaamba.

  5. THE HEAD MASTER MADE A MISTACK AM SURE ..ITS EASY TO CONTROL GRADE 12 PULPILS TO LET THE GRADE 11 TAKE CHARGE SO ..I WAS THE HEAD BOY AND I KNOW WHAT HAPPENS

  6. That is a shame for my former school. These chaps should know that we are where we are now because of good behaviour and school oriented all the time. What benefit does it cost them other than the redicule and a bad record already, jailed for riotous behaviour. What a bad start in life.

I concur with you #4, I would have travelled there to deal with them personally, too.

  7. Baice imwe, we need development in that country then you start destrying property. Think of your young brothers and sisters and possibly your children. There are better ways to express your grievances. Din’t be like your elder brothers at UNZA who go to stone vehicles on Great East Road.

  8. I have participated in Riots at Munali Secondary School and Chikankata High School but not to this extent shown by these chaps.

What a reason 2 riot! When i saw the headline, i thought they did the riot because of water problems or something serious. Damn these dull clowns!

  9. useless chaps, even unza monks are better coz they riot for genuine reasons not ka reason kopanda muchila ndi aka. tubana utu tu saulisa makolo bati. ufontini

  10. Mischief is what we Zambians don’t tolerate, they think they’re in Europe or USA where students run amok shooting their teachers and fellow students for fun? Ifwe iyo, tula fundisha! Let them pay.

  11. They think they’re in Europe or USA where students run amok shooting their teachers and fellow students for fun? Ifwe iyo, tula fundisha! Let them pay.

  12. Good job Mr. Headmaster. It seems to me these fools were rioting over the most stupid of things. You should have fined them an even higher amount

  13. Too bad for the boys who have been suspended. though am not in support of what they have done, sometimes prefects need to keep it cool with their powers. at mukuba we had the same prob with prefects but the administrators are too good to handle those probs.

  14. This kind of behavior is reminiscent of the one exhibited by monks from our forsaken university – UNZA. I’ve always said UNZA must be shut down for good and turned into a referal hospital. Look how their stone throwing behavior is now influencing some inocent kids in Kalomo. I’ll bet all the 24 suspened *****s are from Lusaka. These kids should not only be fined but shamboked in public.

  15. we need career master’s office to help in educating pupils about social life skills and despline. for they cant riot over this issue or the headmaster is hiding something. i wish them (pupils) God’s favour in their exams.

  16. #3 all zambian students misbehave a few months before the examination be it at university, colledge or secondary school.its not just the grade 12s.Regarding the reason why this happens i wont spoon feed you thats your assignment.

  17. This pupils have no shikopa, why riot when you know that you are going for final exams. No wonder in Namwala pupils wake to the rude shock when they found faeces at their breakfast tables.

  18. Lets not try to be personal,Its one of those things. When you are at school in (G12) you feel you have made in life and no one can control you.All in all lets see the way forward and the solution to these.am not saying what they did is good no.We have to sit these guys down and the ones to come, explain.coz they is more to come than being a grade 12 that’s just the beginning of real challenges in life.

  19. Dont blame them too hard, they are just kids. They just need a good and proper beating and they will be back to normal. I remember we used to riot at C.B.U and stone cars in Jambo Drive thinking it was the best thing to do but today you look back and say what foolish behavior. Who told you that you are entitled to even a meal allowance. Its all at government’s discretion. Otherwise government if so wishes can take it back and you cannot take the issue to any court. So enjoy while you can, very soon I see government scraping it out completely(B.C). After all there are so many people out there paying for there own education why should the two universities be so special.

  20. Violence has never been the perfect answer to problems. Uuza has really set a very bad example.
So called interllectuals are no different from ordinary call-boys

  21. We should try to understand these guys. Our days are gone they are in a different world.Trust me i stay in Choma what these guys can do when they close and if you are a parent ,you can die of shock. We need to sit these people down at one point the country with be uncontrollable. if you have access or you know one student from this side plz plz.its a sad situation

  22. I feel sorry for these guyz. Lets hope they won`t fail them, but if they do then they have no-one to blame but themselves..

  23. Don’t relate the pupils riotous behaviuor to UNZA. UNZA has its own unique problems and unrest there dates back in history. Some of the people who are managers in big companies were once stone throwers at UNZA.

  24. No one told these pupils that stone throwing is not a last solution to problems they have caused.the Headmaster should be questioned to why such a thing can be done, indisplined school.

  25. #19, I beg to deffer, not all schools riot, at least not my former school, the Kabulonga School for Gentlemen. I left the institution about twenty years ago and that Time we were always afraid of the cantankerous students from Munali and UNZA. There is what one can call a culture of a school.

  26. these kids should have been made to repeat grade 12 after paying their penalties. government should not tolerate this stupid unza kind of behaviour of destroying things.

  27. Oh. My. Days. Why? young foolish men working under some sick mob psychology. Shame, some of them will end up becoming vagabonds.

  28. #5..find smthing meaningful to link ths up..and stop involving otha pipo hu ar nt involvd..do u hav an isue wth unza students

  29. #22 do u realise tht nt al zambians cn afford to pay thru university,so ur advocating tht BC be scrappd off is rather selfish and unfair..dnt foget were u came frm,and dnt try to make th path imposible for otherz afta passing thru it.Iv benefitd frm th same BC .wthot it,i wudnt hav my education today,i wud rather its turnd into an educational loan.pipo goin to unza and cbu cum frm difrnt bakgrounds and thts their only oportunity to get an education..

  30. Those chaps should not be blamed at all.Charity begins at home.Blame the parents, for the tree is known by its fruits. You cannot get a mango on a guava tree.Bring their parents to prison for failing to upbring their children in a respectful manner.

  31. THOSE BOYS NEED STIFF PUNISHMENT AS THIS MAY COME AGAIN FROM THOSE WHO ARE FOLLOWING THEM. RIOTUS BEHAVIOUR SHOULD NOT BE ENCOURAGED AT ALL AS THIS IS VERY RETROGRESSIVE TO OUR ECONOMY.
MR HEADMASTER PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT THEY PAY FOR THE DEMAGES THEY HAVE CAUSED AS THE MONEY USED TO BUILD THAT SCHOOL WAS TAX-PAYER LIKE ME FROM MY HARD-EARNED MEAGER SALARY.

  32. examination fever, grade twelves just have to be treaded with consideration that they are very excited to be completing their grade twelve education in less than two months from now.its always like that with most grade twelve students.

  33. But mwe bantu why areyou pissed off and even advising our sons in Kalomo who can’t even access internet? I think you are just hungry like those kids…

  34. Those pupils must face the Law accordingly so they serve as an example to others. Its a pity that even high school children have joined Unza in behaving worse than bakaponya! Naba ng’wang’wazi bachitapo behave bwino. Such behaviour and the exams are just around the corner, aata they should have just expelled them!Ifimano ububi!

  35. Its like the new prefects are not tonga speaking hence the riots. We all know the man behind tribalism.vote wisely, say no to tribalism.

  36. @Maps #36
What a foolish escuse. You might as well blame their grandparents for not teaching their parents, or better their great grandparents. Get my point?
those pupils are old enough and should face the consequences of their stupid actions.

please dont compare them to unza students.

  37. the chaps are suffering from rb ( riotous brains). even their head how did he evaluate the cost of the windows. i hope he will not use the penalty fees to entertain his girl friends. ps education let auditors look at the utilisation of these fees.

how do u punish the chaps twice. u chase them from sch b4 they fully utilise their boarding fee and then tell them to give u a top up. were will they be sleeping as they go to write exams i hope its not in the bachelor;s houses or trs

  38. Re: “36. Maps-SA” I want to find out from you, are you a parent or not. And do you have children and how old are they. If they are still little you better keep your mouth shut. In this day and age you can’t blame the parents for what these students did. What planet are you living in. If your kids are angels thank God for that but don’t start pointing fingers at the parents.

  39. Guys its just lack of credible news from LT from southern province.I know so much good stuff that has taken plac but LT chooses to ignore. Its politics with LT.

  40. Tonga brothers and sisters I ask to be forgiven by all of you .In my contribution to make Zambia a better place for all of us,I could have offended a good number of our brothers and sisters from Southern Province.I hereby say I had no ill intentions nor do I habour hatred against you guyz.We are one under Gods s eyes.My heart is filled with love.

  41. I feel for them… nama exams yamene yabwela, kaya, so they will not write ka. These are the same pipo who cause problems wen they go to UNZA.
