THE United Party for National Development (UPND) has said it is concerned by traditional rulers’ involvement in active politics by endorsing some presidential candidates.
UPND spokesperson, Charles Kakoma, said in a statement in Lusaka yesterday that chiefs and other traditional rulers were supposed to remain non-partisan because they were custodians of all, regardless of political affiliation.
Mr Kakoma said although chiefs had their individual right to vote, traditional rulers were not supposed to campaign for anyone, as that would erode their importance in society, especially in the eyes of other politicians.
Mr Kakoma was commenting on the resolutions by more than 40 chiefs from Southern Province and more from other parts of Zambia to support the acting President, Rupiah Banda’s candidature.
“While we respect our traditional rulers, the statement by Chief Nalubamba that chiefs in the province support the candidature of the MMD presidential candidate, Rupiah Banda, is partisan and contrary to the Constitution of Zambia and our traditional beliefs and culture.
“We are aware that these chiefs are the ones that supported the third term of former President Chiluba. We are also aware that in 2001 and 2006 these same chiefs issued statements in support of the late President Dr Mwanawasa,” he said.
Times of Zambia
VERY SHAMEFUL.its also interesting to note that the south chiefs who endorsed RB met at Kozo lodge which is owned by a Kaingu minister of tourism.i wonder how many envelopes were distributed at this meeting.
#1 A lot of evelopes were dished there, But these Traditional rulers are crazy, one minute they are behind RB, next minute they dish out cows to HH. Did you read yesterday’s post!!! Bene Nalubamba aabo. just after money. Very shameful indeed………
With the famous K 15 M in their pockets, they can not think properly, what a shame !
Well spoken UPND, we cant’ have chiefs who support everyone who gives them brown envelops or cars, where is thier integrity?. Every zambian has a right to chose the candident of their choice but our chiefs are a let down becouse of being greedy. To the chiefs just enjoy the brown and vote wisely, you know the way forward which all your subjects are following. VIVA HHHHHHH
Vote Pa Bwatoooooooooooooooo
MUBWATO means Human private parts either Rear or front So PF stop insulting before we call Mateyo to arrest you.
HH, you are also showing signs of jitters!
Bo HH be the man u are worth K38 billion a few brown evelopes wont hurt yo pocket.
Come 1 November 2008 no fuel for the poor chiefs ( change of government)
Ayamba kunjenja HH, WHAT NEXT?
shame on you chiefs!!! imwe tuma chiefs you need to behave with integrity as your influence on poor villagers cannot be overemphasised;you even threaten you subjects with ostracism if they don’t vote for a particular candidate.SHAME ON YOU!!!!
The crowd is very encouraging. Was that Western or Southern Province?
IFA TONGA NEFI BABEMBA IF THERE SHARING A COMMON PROVINCIAL BOUNDARY SHOULD HAVE FOUGHT A BITTER BLOODY TRIBAL WAR. IT IS GOOD THERE ARE SEPERATED BY LUSAKA AND CENTRAL PROVINCES. OTHER TRIBES DONT JOIN IN THIS SICKNESS
Saw HH on his website MEDIA, speaking BEMBA, Unfortunately many Bemba’s can not speak his language! The song is superb though!
despite the sugar distributing, vote splitting and brown envelopes. this is going to be a tight race. I just hope they are not using another zamtroop account for this vote buying.
#13 right on the spot. They are the largest groups in Zed.
#14 Now if most Bembas can’t speak Tonga, is that your problem? Don’t be mean.
Well these chiefs are just crazy and are misleading their subjects. if I were one of the candidates I would taken them on and expose their stupidity. Kaingu first went to Namwala to meet with Nalubamba and other chiefs before convening this meeting at his lodge. he seems to be having a bamper harvest during this campaign period through the lodges. HH is not jittery but just reacting to the abnormal situation that is developing of bribing chiefs. Those chiefs from Monze have very short memory because about two years ago Munkombwe insulted them when he was campaigning for LPM. He said that Tongas from Monze are the ones dividing the tribe because that is where Mazoka and HH came from.
MMD is now jittery because even though RB has been endorsed by the chiefs from all over the country, he had a shameful experience when RB went to North Western province. That is why Tentamanshimba has said all the irrelevancies printed in today’s post. Actually Teta is going back to campaign again. I am not sure of the mood in western province but if UPND gets more votes there, it will send shivers to the MMD camp. HH wll get most votes in southern, Noth western and central provinces. That is guaranteed. He will do better than MMD in Lusaka only crazy kaponyas and marketeers vote for Sata.
#14..YOU ARE DULL…YOU SHOULD ACTUALLY REALISE THAT THE ONE WHO SPEAKS MORE LANGUAGES IS BETTER THAN..U DULL COW….I SPEAK BEMBA,NYANJA,LUNDA,TONGA, A BIT OF KAONDE,LUVALE,LAMBA, USHI AND LOZI…THAT ONLY MEANS M MORE ZAMBIAN THAN YOU.
“UPND spokesperson, Charles Kakoma, said in a statement in Lusaka yesterday that chiefs and other traditional rulers were supposed to remain non-partisan because they were custodians of all, regardless of political affiliation.”
I just like the educated men in UPND and their analysis.
Sense #18,19.
I am personally happy that SP chietfs endorsed RBB to feign as if they are on his side while the same money they are alleged to have received from the Munkombwes will be used to campaign more for the incoming president to-be, HH. Vote for HH for economic independence for all Zambians.
Shame on you chiefs!! Viva HH.Abash SATA because he is Brutal and dictatorial,Anti Foreign Investors, Sick for the Job, Too Old for the Job, Hyper-active (Needs Control), Lacks diplomacy. This is all because of inadequacy in education( Standard 6).
#19 thats a gud thot.actually as u can see on the picture above, the mood in western province is very gud for the Opposition and the only opposition there is upnd it it will an issue of Mathematics, who ever wins will win not with a clear majorite and i prefer HH,he is articulate, visionery, energetic, young, vibrant, intelligent, corrupt free, wat more do people need? people calling him tribal will not help at all, after all who is not tribal.Sata or maybe Rb.Viva HH.
MMD has no stronghold as at now so i wonder where they will find votes this time round.Southern, most of North Western,Central,Western its HH.Copperbelt,Most of Northern and Luapual its Sata.Only Eastern is for Rb and not all of it because there is General Miyanda and HH and sata will get some gud votes as well.Lusaka is for Sata and HH,so can Rb and camp think they will win if only Eastern province.Clearly here its HH who atleast has 4 provinces, followed by Sata with 3 provinces.
people in Lusaka and copperbelt think that by voting for Sata they hw will grab all the shops owned or run by foreigners and give them to them. Sata is like a chameleon. he told council workers around around 1992 or 93 in Lusaka when they went on strike that he was going to fire them on the same day and go in the streets and employ others. He is a brutal chap who will sink our country very quickly. Investors will not tolerate his lack of diplomacy. Sata’s campaign strategy of just reacting to what others have said not good. RB is a perpetual briber and my goodness, Zambia will again have a thief as a president within a short period. it must be a cursed country
THE POST NEWSPAPER Wednesday October 01, 2008
On Monday chiefs from all districts in Southern Province resolved to support MMD candidate Rupiah Banda for the October 30 presidential election.
But senior chief Chikanta of Kalomo district said although they resolved to support Vice-President Banda, opposition UPND has an upper hand and would scoop the majority vote…”Its is not a secret that Southern Province is a stronghold of UPND and it is clear that despite this resolution by us chiefs, UPND will get three quarters of the votes…”
Therefor the MMD are wasting their time going to chiefs for their support, chiefs have no power to influence who people should vote for.

One chief, Chikanta I believe, said even if the chiefs endorsed RB, the choice lay with the people who cast their votes. One thing though, is that banadya maboyi.
Ok.these chiefs ar a disgrace surely..its common knwldge tht thy hav bn bribed..if old pipo lyk them cn do ths,wat ar thy mesage ar thy snding.do thy suffer so much to be bribed by sugar…awe mwe..and mmd shud nt tink ths is gud.thy hav made ths country a joke rili.
Rb is going round bribery Chiefs and corrupting indunas, imagine how much money is spending and thats not personal money its tax payer’s money.Bushe do we really have the so called anti corruption commissin, wat r they doing just sleeping oooooohhh they were the first ones to receive their share nowander they r just quiet. How do we develop as a nation with broken down sysytems like this? we cant afford to be operating like this,we need new effective systems.we need fresh blood,we need fresh ideas.Viva HH

spot on #10 global citizen..HH ayamba kunjenja? bazeba ana loser kudala …l tell you bakalila MUCHITONGA
This all comes down to poverty. Chiefs are very prone to brown envelopes. This is the right time for them to get their so called “unexpected allowance”. Obviously they wouldn’t settle for anything less than K15m because thats for Juniors like Siulwapa and Cosmo and pastor mumba. “others” get sugar.
Poverty is something not to admire. l mean mind poverty.
#34 THATS HARSH!!!!!!!
No.33, I salute your thought! I think this will be the final result, I agree with you!
# 34 I suppose Kapwepwe is till around there somewhere? U retard
The man of the moment HH has made (38.8 – 26) Bil ZK = 12.8 Billion ZK in two years from 2006 to 2008 while others are engaging in corruption to make just 3 Billion ZK from 1964 to 2008, a total of 44yrs. Since 12.8 BZK/3 BZK = 4, HH has worked at a rate of 4 times in 2 years what others have achieved in 44 yrs.
Clearly, if HH wins the Presidential elections, HH will do more in 3 yrs what the other candidates can do in 44/2*4 = 88 years. Thefore given that they can only rule for 8 years, it follows that Zambia will have lost a total of 88 + 8 = 96 yrs under their rule. For all those that want a developed Zambia, vote for HH.
Wina azanena YES pakathi pa NO, come Oct, 30, 2008.
Vote for HH as Zambian President on 30/10/2008 for a real ray of change and hope that all Zambians can trust in.
#39 iwe ka shi mwana, BA SIMON MWANSA KAPWEPWE was a man of principles who put the people of zambia above his political
ambitions.do you know how this man fought to keep NKUMBULA SNR
& his Tonga cronies from hijacking the country with their tribalist ideas,he was a strong advocate for one party state.to kill tribal partys.you can use bemba names or ngoni names ka shi mwana but mukalila ba RB ba kakukila mu plot 1 .mwayamba kunjenja
viva pf we are winning i know even #41 will join us because he is slowly becoming a good boy.He has stoped being tribal ,this is what we want my friend .zambia is for zambians.PABWATOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
#34 resepct the dead.
Shame on u Bembas, what grudge to u hve against Tongas. For rela u beta start prepairing ur mind to accept that HH is gonna be the President come 1st November.
the problem with our chiefs is pamala palikula big stomach all they think of is eating, when you look at the houses they sleep in mawee, i stop here….
Some of these Chiefs are not even fit to be called Chiefs, surely how could they start supporting RB of all the Poeple, leaving the only man. HH in the House.

Holy Bible,New International Version, Ephesians 5
8For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light9 for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth 10and find out what pleases the Lord.11Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, BUT RATHER EXPOSE THEM.
May you have some nice blogging and try not to do any evil to any human being.
Bribing chiefs is the begining of vote rigging. Fake results in Southern Province due to the statements of chiefs will not take place if that what they think. Chief Chikanta has made it clear that Southern Province is Zambia foward with HH and as such influence ya ma chiefs palibe and that is true.it can’t work unless rigging, and if at all how, how in southern province. Viva. HH.
Told you B4 the one who will take western province wins these elections. SATA will take part of northern, luapula, the whole copperbelt and lusak district. HH will take southern, central and probably come second in lusaka district. RB will take Lusaka province(exept lusaka district), Eastern, northwestern and part of northern then he will come second in southern. by the way southern has a population 3x bigger than luapula so coming 2nd there is a big equalizer to the vote lost on CB. Thus the verdict now lies with western province.Demographics are in favour MMD take it or leave it.
Youth power, VIVA HH.
This is a very good software. How I wished it was accessible by many. It would be a very good way of collecting data on various matters of interest to the country. Design an easy one for all.
#56 Thats possitive thinking. I like it. May be we should also consider a platform which uses our main local luanguages to break some barriers. Programmers…… we can do this!
MAESTRO HheHheHhe, YOU MUST BE BLIND & MAD. WRITE SOME SENSE MAN. THERE ARE 5 SENSES, BUT DONT SHOW US YOUR FOOLISHNESS TO SAY YOU HAVE 1 SENSE. GROW UP.
WE NEED NEW SYSTEMS IN THIS ERA. VIVA HH. ZAMBIANS FORGET ABOUT POLITICS OF THE SIXTIES! WE NEED SOMEBODY YOUNG AND ENERGETIC!
IS THIS WEN U HAVE KNOWN THAT THIZ CHAPS SHULDNT COMPAIGN AT ALL,AM SUPPRIZD..COZ I NU WEN I WAS JUST A BABY…
Since a lot of my Bemba-Tribal fellow Zambian Citizens have a challenge in the English language. I am now consiering intepreting my username in its fullness to the Bemba-Tribalists who think that I have wriiten a tribal statement when it is a clear testimony of the truth on the ground. As for the Normal and non-Tribal Bemba people, I humbly ask all of your to denounce and rebuke those who are using your nice language, Bemba, to insult others on this forum. Hadi seen a Tonga INSULT on here – LT – I would have already rebuked the use of propagating insults using the TONGA language for it demeans what Tonga people believe.
No.13 well said.
its my prayer that, the lord gives a leader of his choice, because it seems that we his children are lost
