RTSA probes CR Carrier bus accident

Share

The Road Transport and Safety Agency-RTSA- has instituted investigations into the road traffic accident involving a CR Carriers bus in Zimbabwe.

RTSA Director, Frederick Mwalusaka, says officers from the Agency have been sent to Zimbabwe to investigate the accident.

A CR carriers bus travelling from Zambia to South Africa, overturned in Zimbabwe recently, killing some people and injuring others.

Initial reports indicate that two people died in the accident, but RTSA says the death toll could be higher.

Mr. Mwalusaka said in Lusaka on Thursday that RTSA officers will try to establish the cause of the accident and how many people died.

Some of the injured passengers are admitted to the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka.

A number of them have had their arms amputated as a result of serious injuries they suffered following the accident.

  1. Systems have collapsed in Zimbabwe. Do you even need to investigate the accident? Its obvious that there were no road signs and the road had numerous pot holes.

  2. ni ma accident chabe naimwe. its not only CR even other transporters afer affected. nga ni tuma blue buses twenve kaya nga vamene mukamba.

  3. RTSA, we cant believe your investigations. what happened to your director Mwalusaka who hit a pedestrian, you investigated and kep quiet. Anyway, Pabwaaaaaaaaaaaaaattttttttttttoooooooo. we are coming.

  4. anyway let them form a Team bapangeko ma allowances, its December and School fees coming in January. ka execuse ka pezeka.

  5. Something is certainly fishy with CR Carriers regarding its crazy history of accident records in Zambia as well. Aside from the Zimbabwe case, its prudent that investigations also cover the carrier’s poor record. But more important are the demonstrable punitive actions consequent to the investigation results.

  6. I believe the licence for CR cariers was revoked. What measures have they put in place to be on the road carrying pipo again? When was it issued after it was revoked?

Travellers are also to blame at times because they know that CR cariers sacrifice human beings through un called for accidents – why continue using them? are they the only ones with confortable buses?

  7. Something has to be done about these intercity buses…they are seriously becoming more dangerous than flying it really dosent make any sense for people to be dying like this…. Government efficiency is really brought into doubt…to serve the people you have to save the people ………. Vote Sata

  8. Let them explain as to why their buses can’t move on roads safely kapena nima ………???, I wonder why we even give them business. careless drivers!!!!!!

  9. Its really sad that CR has so many accidents now i believe this October is the month when they sacrifice careful be prayfull otherwise many are yet to be sacrificed as Satanism is at its best as a christian nation lets pray that God protects us

  10. I challenge Mr Mwalusaka to act as a proffessionally qualified person by extending that investigation to CR Head office. We have lost alot of lives with this company for two major reasons,
    a. CR as operators has no qualified personnel in Transport and fleet management.
    b. CR has continued to employ untrained drivers who do not understand any thing as regards to Transport rules and regulations.
Let them be de-registered coz this is too much. We will not lose lives like that…….

  11. No speed limiters. Their licence should be revolked. Its too much of CR killing people. Are they performing their yearly sacrifices?

  12. may the souls of the deaprted – rest in peace. May God almightly provide comfort to the hopsitalised savivours.

CR – What is the proble KANSHI….

RTSA – This is draging on. Good investigation should have commenced 48hrs later. What conclusive investigation would come out of this after a week today….
And please making a statemnt following your findings – DO NOT KEEP THE NATION IN THE DARK…..

  13. this is too much…always its CR,Y???? RTSA do something coz we cant be losing lives of pipo like that every now & then.why isnt this common in other coaches??

  14. Iam really scared,Iam planning to visit my beloved country in December ba CR yamba ifi nabena.Do these guy Pray before they start travelling? I doubt it,please I need to be Informed.

  15. that story makes very sad reading;condolences to the families of the victims who have died and get well soon to the injured,God will heal your wounds.

  16. There must be something really wrong with CR and why is it that serious investigations are taking place. They should curry out conclusive investigations and revoke their licenses until they find the source of the problem. It’s too much ba CR.

  17. you should investigate, i lost my aunt who died on the spot actually we were burying on wednesday and my cousin was injured shes int eh UTH in a serious condition we are told the driver was crusing they told him actually to minimise his drving but he didnt want to listen, they shud actually revoke their licence pls RSTA if dont people will continue dying like animals

  18. Revoke their licence lyk u did to gefaro transport, these pipo are careles and yes thy sacrifice pipo..thre mnths ago thy hit into a cow in zimbabwe again, only them make acidnts, its nt js normal.

  19. #3 remove the pluck in your own eye before you see the speck in your friend’s eye. Where do you get the audacity to accuse Zimbabwe’s systems of having collapsed? Have you checked out the state of roads in your own country? This is not the first time CR carriers is killing people through bus accidents, they have had many accidents in Zambia and what you should be asking is that whom have they bribed at RTSA that they continue getting long term service licences when their safety record is dainted with the blood of all those that have died on their buses? Don’t try to do cheap politiking here coz it involves the lives of your friends’ loved ones.

  20. Cr has been killing people since 2001,l do not know why government as allowed them to continue to oparate.lt killed part of my beloved family,ln Zed life of humanbeings has become very cheap,we have a government in place which fail to protect its people it is really very sad.l hope and pray that Cr management will be able to understand that humanlife is morethan money.God will one day bring justice

  21. Gentlemen there is Proffessor Frank Tembo(Former dean of Mines UNZA)now a Director at Gemstome Processing and Lapiditary Training Centre who was caught red-handed having s.ex with a married woman.he was badly beaten and he died this afternoon at Wusakili Mine Hospital.Too bad for the proffessor, but malibu yaku ilombela.

  22. Until after the Sabbath, this has been Maestro Hhehhehhehhe. May you all have a great and happy weekend.

  23. CR must be stopped from operating why is it always them accidents they were warned but can not fix their problem.

  24. LT, what happened to my coment? Well, I lost some of my things in CR and I believe that CR has been practing witchcraft. they should be stopped from operating otherwise we will lose a lot of people.

  25. FATAL CR ACCIDENTS HAPPEN YEARLY IN EITHER SEPT OR OCTOBER. I TOLD MY CLAN TO SHUN CR AND USE OTHER DECENT CARRIERS

  26. The porbablity of accidents in hot season is high especially for long distance vehicles coz of punctures and dozing/futigue. However, it also depends on driver compitency, vehicle condition, state of road and the status of other vehicles/drivers.

There are so many things that RATSA should consider before revoking/giving licenses to PSV Operators.eg. if 5 out of 100 buses for company A crash in a year, its 5% accident rate. But if 2 out of 10 buses for company B crash per year, the accident rate is 20%. Which company should have its license withdrawn? It’s certainly company B with a higher annual accident rate! RATSA BE OBJECTIVE!

  27. Please lets ask the gvt to act against satanism in the country. We are a christian country yet there is so much satanism happening in zambia hence the loss of so much humans nowadays.I hear a prominent gospel singer even ran away from Zambia after killing and attempting to kill a zambian woman through satanism.Unless deliberate action is sought such bloodshed will not end.Its time to act.Churches and civil societies should act against evil doing and so should the rest of us

  28. RTSA should not waste tax payers money by going to Zambambwe. To investigate what? They can only exchange information but not investigation because of being out of their juristication. Its a known fact that CR buses (just like most of the motor vehicles on Zambian roads) are not road worthy. RTSA must instead spend more money on the preventative measure e.g, motor vehicle road fitness certification, motor vehicle insurance, motor vehicle speed tracking and retraining all PSV drivers, maybe every 5 years. It is equally important for public transport drivers to be tested for alcohol when ever they are stopped by the police. DRIVERS SHOULD NOT DRINK AND DRIVER.

  29. Stopping CR from operating their transport business is not a solution because what can happen is that CR can just change the business name and repaint their buses. But the real problems will still remain with the motor vehicles.

  30. These CR where warnned last time in court that if they had any other accident and that this time the would have their license for doing that business revoked. As they are the only transportation comapny which always has sacrifices of people oh! sorry i meant, has accidents where people always have to die.
I think its better to revoke it this time, there other bigger companies than C.R but C.R always has such and its every year, i think its a bit too much. Its tricky to say because they have many drivers or they have bad drivers or whatever excuse. Its just better to prevent.People can always change to Euro Africa, Smalls, C.V transport,Scandanavian express, etc

  31. CR are at it again!!! CR you are now reminding us of the days of Jeefaro, ni chani kapena ma stories about your yearly sacrifices are indeed true. Anyway God is there, Condolences to all those who lost their loved ones in yet another senseless road carnage, to those in hospital, I wish you a quick and full recovery. At 1 point CR had the largest number of buses, reminiscent of the days of UBZ, in this regard we gave them the benefit of the doubt in terms of accidents as having such a large fleet comes with its own challenges, but it is too much now, RTSA your inquiry should target CR holdings head office, too many hands, lack of effective supervision.2 the travelling public know yo rights…

  32. Its not the fault of the owner but the person behind the wheel, dont forget cr have given zambia a good name with the transporttaion sector.i think its the maintainance of the coaches, its the smallest things that make the diffrence like tyers and safty checks.i am a quaalified coach machanic in london and work for a big coach company.we need to help zambians make zambia evan better. :)>-

  33. I have just thought I should read some thing on CEEC,some thing latest on how they will empower the poor zambians in 2013.To my surpries I cant find anything that suits my mothers as common zambians on the street. With all the respect Ba CEEC where have you put us the poor? This time do things to help the poor NOT the MMD way.
    Thanks
