Zambia Commends India

Share

President Rupiah Banda has paid tribute to India for supporting Zambia in spheres of economic, political and social development.

President Banda said India has made rapid but decisive strides towards technological, economic and social development in the last ten years.

He said Zambia has since benefited from these advancements which India has scored in the last decade.

He was speaking at State House today when he received letters of credence from the Indian High Commissioner Designate to Zambia, Ashok Kumar, who is taking over from River Wallang.

Mr. Banda India has been practical in implementing programmes of cooperation aimed at benefiting the two countries and their peoples.

“We also pay tribute to India for her leading role as a model and torch bearer among developing countries in the promotion of democracy and rule of law,” he said.

President Banda said the two countries have been, from time in memorial, enjoying warm and cordial relations which are based on a firm foundation of common values and aspirations.

He pointed out that India provided material and moral support to Zambia during her struggle for independence.

“Many of Zambia’s founding fathers who were trained in India got a lot of encouragement from the teaching of that illustrious son of the soil, Mahatma Gandhi, on peaceful resistance to foreign domination,” he said.

Mr. Banda added that such values which were inculcated into Zambia’s founding fathers have remained the country’s foundation of resolving conflicts in a peaceful manner.

The President has since pledged continued consultation with India in finding solutions to political and economic challenges facing the world at present.

He noted that the two countries would use both bilateral and multilateral for a in seeking the implementation of their common views such as the reform of the United Nations, protection of the environment and respect for human rights.

“Our two countries stand shoulder to shoulder in calling for the new world order with justice and equality for all,” he said.

President Banda has wished Mr. Kumar a successful stay in Zambia but challenged him to apply himself in advancing the existing relations between the countries for a mutual benefit.

And Mr. Kumar said he was happy to have been accredited to Zambia by Indian President.

  1. We may have one or two things to learn from India’s development policies but Nigeria I don’t know. I am still thinking about the so called investements with Nigeria

  2. There is nothing Nigeria can teach Zambia apart from witchcraft and 419.Mind you most of these politicians go there for juju and satanism

I also hear Bembas no longer have faith in juju from Mununga. They are now going in numbers to Nigeria. Mode of transport? Chi Bwato.

Learning one or two things from India is not a bad idea. I surport that move.

  4. what is 419 chills? its sounds to be a worring thing.
yes while commending other countries, lets do something as well so that we can be commended

  5. #9 a 419 is advance charge fraud (you get a letter e.g. from “Mrs Houphet-Boigny” asking for your help in transferring funds out of Nigeria – then they ask for money to bribe someone and you’ve lost your cash). Some people actually fall for it

  6. I would like to comment on the on sentence that the president stated:
“Our two countries stand shoulder to shoulder in calling for the new world order with justice and equality for all,” he said.

The new world order is one the strategies of opression that the George H W Bush introduced in 1991. The new world order is part of a plan of the most powerful people in the world and countries to put under their control the whole world.

I am not surprised that the our president has confirmed to the whole world that Zambia is not different.
Part of this plan is to ensure that the few majority in any country in this world continue fto rule the world, countries and communities.

  7. Thanx sony Erickson phiri, atleast have goten something over 419,am afraid RB might apend his sighnature & the whole country will be doomed..

Please get your facts right. He is stepping down because he failed to provide better security. He is taking moral responsibility. Stop spreading rumors.

  10. Racism going on at backpackers in Zed. Whites only backpakers lodge in Zambia, and you are discussing India! Anyone read the latest on UK Zedian website? Leave the Mumbai issues for the Mwenyes to worry about, sort out Zed problems first.

  11. anonymous please avoid racial comments, i am an indian who is third generation zambian, i do not appreciate being called a mwenye….also the issue of the bombings are not only for india but the world in general….terrorism has affect others including our brothers in kenya and tanzania…lets work together to fight this rather then become racial…

  12. #14 the death toll in the Mumbai siege is 189 and the number of injured people is 327. Five senior government officials, including the minister of home affairs, the chief minister of Maharashtra State and his Deputy have so far resigned for mishandling the siege. More resignations are expected.

  13. Is RB normal? How come he did not even pass a word condolences and support India after such terrorist attacks? Does this guy know what it is to be a President?

  14. Iceman, if you were a REAL ZAMBIAN then you would know the meaning of MWENYE. If it’s not racial to call you an indian in Zed why does calling you mwenye upset you. Mwenye is a Zambian name for indians! Before Zambian people could speak english, they used indigenous languages to name people like abantu, abasungu, bamwenye, amabunu etc… Indian= English Mwenye= Nyanja Ok!!!

  15. Indians are not even supposed to be congratulated for anything.the sold our copper and built nchanga smelter and konkola concentrator using there cheap materials.imagin we have zamefa in zambia but these uselss indian investers hopeted to buy cables from india and sending their so called expatriates(welders)to zambia.surely are we very black in the heads that we can not produce welders in Zambia.the president should look at this very carefully because our own brothers and sisters are suffering without employment while these uneducated indians injoy themselves.

  16. khuma i only wished it was true, that man is sick….our country needs to get rid of people like him..with sata zambia is not going anywhere

  17. With havin so much content and articles do you ever run into any issues of plagorism or copyright infringement? My blog has a lot of completely unique content I’ve either authored myself or outsourced but it appears a lot of it is popping it up all over the web without my permission. Do you know any ways to help protect against content from being stolen? I’d definitely appreciate it.
