Overnight trucks parking in Choma attracting social evils

Share

Choma District Commissioner Laiven Apuleni says he is concerned at the increasing number of local and foreign trucks undertaking overnight parking in the central business district.

Mr Apuleni says the trucks are not only creating congestion in the town centre but have attracted social evils like prostitutions.

He said some of the truck drivers who are park to rest while in transit have been spotted conducting sexual activities in their vehicles.

He noted that because of the absence of public toilets in the town centre, the truck drivers have resorted to answering the call of nature under the trucks thereby creating a foul smell.

Mr Apuleni said there is need for the Choma Municipal Council to find an alternative parking place specifically for trucks as the current situation is causing worry to most residents.

He said this during the inaugural meeting of the Joint Monitoring Programme Team on Sanitation chaired by Chief Macha.

Mr Apuleni advised the local authority to engage the private sector to come up with a private parking facility from which they can generate resources.

  1. Its not just Choma but throught out the way upto Livingstone.
Its probably due to the Bad road -Zimba Livingstone. Its so tiring you cant afford not to rest

  3. Its better kunyela under trunks than kuzinyela. thats gud initiative. Aa for prostution, its women who are to blame. what do they what at those trucks? impala following a lion in its den

  4. prostitution spreads AIDS to the wives of these truck drivers. it is not the prostitutes fault alone, it is societies fault. AIDS is costing a lives in zambia and millions of dollars are spent in foreign aid to countries just like zambia, meanwhile there appears to be no concern to prevent it by keeping your prick in your pants and been faithful to your wife,. if you want to play then YOu should pay not the rest of the world.

  5. This blog has really become useless. Most of the bloggers have become realy childish. I miss the more sensible blogs around election time. Am out of here :-h

  6. The title “Overnight trucks parking in Choma attracking social evils” may read well as ‘… attracting social evils’.

Otherwise, there is a lot of sense in the idea of introducing PRIVATE CAR PARKS in Choma adn elsewhere.

  7. Too bad. The economic problems of any country are usually seen in the social behaviour of its citizens. Helping yourself in the track is not a good idea but the question is why are the authorities not providing the necessary facilities even a simple one. You see one thing usually leads to another if not addressed from source. The prostitution prevailing there is kind of an offshoot of many spiritual and social problems. It could be due to financial problems or unemployment. It could also be due to kusamvela chabe or really demons having a field day in people’s lives. A complete analysis of the whole problem cannot be exhausted here. Thanks. ec. Netherlands

  8. Heavily fining the employers for every trucker who is caught and successfully prosecuted would bring a swift end to this nonsense. Pursuing the prostitutes would be of no consequence, you have to remove the demand and market. These poor people are not selling themselves because they love it – it is a desperate last resort in most cases.

  9. Its the job of the council to provide necessary sanitation in Choma. The council can not just refer residents to the private sector. The private sector is there to provide alternatives.Zambia as a whole lacks adequate sanitation for its citizens and its time the gvt does something about it.All these residents pay a lot of tax, rates and so on, why not channel some resources for this rather than embezzling evrything???????

  10. Banda is to blame, let him create employments for these girlz so as to reduce the number of such cases!

Bakashana these truck drivers have no money, go to the ministers!

  11. Seems to me the like the worry is more on the stench of human waste than anything else. There is no mention of used condoms being thrown around and if that’s the case, I would be more concerned about the rate at which the viruses are being exchanged in public. 😕

  12. Number 4 ( Chalo Chesu); being tired is not an excuse for being irresponsible and humering our women. After all one who is tired would not have the strength is bed. Unless otherwise.

Bacomissioner, good point. Unfortunately nipa ZED, they will NEVER implement this. Tinaitambapo kudala! Kaya!!!

  13. But these indigenous DCs, ilyashi baleta?? Kuti wa sesha nouli ne nsala #1. What about those girls they bang in those trucks, do they also call-for-nature under the trucks?

  14. Way of survival pa Choma is anaza.Y?No jobs.Prostitution:a way of survival,Drivers just take advantage:So? create jobs and build enough skuz.Education is the key.Crime doz not pay tmr, only today oz it pay

  15. There is no problem here.why talk about Choma only when even in Lusaka women parade in streets looking for men. this is a problem which is everywhere in the world. goodmorning bloggers.

  16. Prostitution is not a problem of unemployment it is a social vice such as asmoking or drunkeness. There are several women who are not in formal employment but they choose to involve themselves in trading of merchandise, vegetables, apparel, fruits and groceries and confectionery. Yet there is a minority of women some are in gainful employment while others are not but the choose to involve them selves in prostitution. Prostitution begins with young girls claiming that they are just having fun, they grow up are bit and start charging for sex to finance their habits, finally they go into full time prostitution to make a living.

  17. No 13, pliz leave! You are the guy thats childish and not all the bloggers.
About choma, trucks and prostitution, pliz find a designated place for truck over night parking. But pliz remember that bamambala ngabalibelela thumping, then it doesn’t matter where u take them. Try to also get rid of amahule mwe. Filetwipaisha…;)

  18. Goodmorning bloggers amahule bachilamo noba why can’t they get married, they want to be screwed by any man that comes their way it is a shame and digusting. Please even you men why go for them, if men could stop having sex with them you cannot see them in the streets.People are no longer getting scared of AIDS rather they will be scared of cholera from the Zim women.

  19. whether we like it or not AIDS will always be with us….SEX is the most enjoyable thing and it has to be between husband and wife only..please stay safe and be wise………compliments of the season.

  20. leave the prostitutes alone cos they provide a better service, even women who work have several boyfriends who support them finacially especially in lusaka,so dont condemn them

  21. Prostitution is one of the oldest profession, bu there
was no AIDS then. Prostitution is not only in Choma but everywhere along the main roads, Chililabombwe to Livivinstone,Lusaka to Chirundu etc be it on the streets at night,in the offices at work places lunch or pretending to be working late ,even in church – Pule is an example.Prostitutes are into it because they make easy man particularly from those people that drive, that why they line up the streets, is it for pedestrians?NO. For Ministers, Managers and other well to do people not just truck drivers. AIDS is real.

  22. Until we learn to hold public officers accountable, such nonsense will continue in our country. The kaponya mindset of indifference & ignorance is killing our country. Truckers are in every country. Why don’t they do what they do here there? Simple, In other countries there is someone whose job is to ensure such things don’t happen & they do their work & the residents help because they understand & appreciate order.

  23. The ichimbusu issue is really irksome. It is a known fact the call of nature has to be answered, you cannot shipikisha. The problem here is the loos issue. Where do these people go to answer the call of nature? Even certain neighboring countries who rarely have rain have adequate public conveniences. We have adequate water through abundant rain. It is really a shame! We need to build loo facilities everywhere. When travelling long distances, even us women just squat by a ba bush. The men too. I heard of some truck driver who left his truck running to answer the call of nature only to get swallowed by a python. The engine ran on until someone smelt a rat and got a shocker. This happened!
