First republican president Kenneth Kaunda folking out bank notes from his pockets during the Offering at ST Paul's UCZ church when Lackson Chibuye was being inducted as Bishop for Lusaka.

A Clergyman has called on the church not to shy away from speaking out on national issues.

Anglican Diocese Central Zambia (ADCZ) Bishop Derek Kamukwamba says participating in national issues would help government perform better.

Bishop Kamukwamba says the church and government should be partners in national development.

He said this at the induction ceremony of Bishop Lackson Chibuye at Lusaka’s Saint Paul’s United Church of Zambia (UCZ) in Kabwata today.

Bishop Kamukwamba also challenged the church to get involved in matters of the environment.

He said the church should be in the forefront to talk on environmental issues such as preserving forests.

And newly inducted Bishop Lackson Chibuye thanked members of the UCZ for bestowing him with the title of bishop.

  1. THIS IS VERY RIGHT.THE CHURCH SPEAKS FOR THE VOICELESS AS LONG AS THEY DONT PUT PERSONAL INTERESTS FIRST.THE CHURCH LIKE NGOs SHOULD MONITOR AND WORK ALONGSIDE GOVT SO THERE CAN BE CHECKS AND BALANCES…

  2. some clergy like bishop committee njase are mmd cadres. i happy that reverend david masupha has now changed and speaks out on behalf of the people. he once supported the third term because banamudyesamo bena freddy.

  3. Nalilanda kale ine ati Ba LT Mar Fee Year Car! Year Car! Since when did Dr Keneth Kaunda Became 2 nd President Zambia sure… Ni lilali bakaposako amano aba bantu! LT, by misleading people with such mistakes, you gradualy loose your credintials! In the end, when really issues will addressed in your paper, they will be taken for granted and i think it will be too late. Remember the story of the boy who cried lion! lion! Childish as it may seem but it really meant to teach how to go about situations in life…

  4. #4 and #5, leave LT alone. You guys seem to forget that we all make mistakes. Look at your own mistakes and it is then when yoou can criticise others. Shame on you!!!

  5. THIS IS ALL DUE TO LACK OF STANDARDS AND DISCIPLINE GENERALLY IN ZAMBIA AND PARTICULARLY IN LT MANAGEMENT TEAM. EVEN MY DAUGHTER OF THREE WOULDN’T MAKE SUCH A MISTAKE.

  6. “A Clergyman has called on the church not to shy away from speaking out on national issues.”

Which church is this? Is it the individual members or the leaders of the churches?

What are the National issues being referred to also? Is it blind supporting or help oriented speaking out? :-$

  7. #12, I agree with you, but it is not all the time that LT makes mistakes. Ok, look at how many times you have made mistakes yourself. Lets criticise each other constructively and not the way some bloggers are doing. Some bloggers are just exposing cobwebs in their heads instead of makeing real contributions. I mean, there is a better way of reminding LT that they have made a mistake on KK’s title. Simple!!

  8. for those of you who did civics in form 1 n 2. they taught us that KK was first and second republican prezido. LT is right maybe it need be clarified so pipo dont get confused but LT is correct, K K was 1st and 2nd republican president of zambia, chiluba 3rd republican, LPM 4th and RBB 5th

  9. # 11, 12, Yikali iyo boy! Bachilamo. Uyu #10 Nora, she seems to be her first time reading contravesial articles on LT! To start with, Nora, its one thing to make a spelling mistake and its quite common coz English isn’t just part ou us naturally. But writting contraversial articles can never be justfied. Imagine typing “…Dr Kenneth Kaunda second president of Zambia…” That kind of typing can only happen if you are not thinking… But how do you type without thinking! absent minded! Just shame to their secretary and the editor.

  10. #15 Nora, it’s almost all the time because last time there was a story about government building hostels at UNZA and Hone and there was a mix up of HOTELS and HOSTELS in the article, this is just one example. I can provide another example if you insist but I don’t think it’s necessary as you correctly put it.

  11. #20, i agree with you but i have a born to chew if we criticise so negatively. Lets give the LT team some good advice. you see, we need them and they have been doing a good job. This PHD (pull him down) syndrome wont take us anywhere. The PHD has failed to take us anywhere. Lets us look at the positive side of LT and they will be encouraged to take their work with that commitment. If we discourage them, we shall get the worst that we keep talking about.

  12. As far as I know, the church has always enjoyed “expressis verbis” in Zambian politics. It looks likes they’re now after “potentius infinitus”.

  13. #16 Supergal! when you are young you are taught to believe everything that comes out the teachers! When you grew up, your sence of conciousness matured and now you are able to choose get things right by yourself. So understand me now. The laws of probability will tell you of mutually exclusive events. When you toss a coin, you expect either ‘a heard’ or ‘a tail’ at any time and never both! There is no way you are first and second at the same time, mutually exclusive events! The fact that you came first mutually excludes you from taking the second position in any event.

  14. no 5 and no 9 where a u reading at kk is second rep presido cant see it below the pic they a saying first maybe i need glasses or didnt read the whole article or is the amarula am drinking LOL AND AM STILL LMFAO

  15. Iwe #9,Amour whatever! Its when did kaunda become second republican President. Not when did Kaunda became second? Thats wrong english. So you should first remove the baobab tree in your eye, before removing a small stick in LT,s eye. They are human and are liable to making mistakes.

  16. Chewe Bauze bakazizi aba! They are 4geting about the poor english and spellings they exhibit on this blog. They 4get that without LT, they would not have an opportunity to practice their hignth school spelling exercises here. Bauze banvesese bakazizi!!!

    31. your flag Chewe and others, us who learnt and passed the Grade 8 and 9 Civics subject and exams know that Dr K.D. Kaunda is the President of Zambia when we had a Second Republic which makes him second Republican President as others have mentioned above. There is not need to show people that oneself dodged or missed from class when such an important lessons was offered.

Cool down and acknowledge the truth.

  18. We should thank LT for listening to the cries of bloggers! Remember when they changed the format which had no numbers! Remember when they almost introduced e-mails which kicked pipo like Mr.Mwiinga out.
So let us bear with them when they make mistakes.

  19. They are just simple mistakes…..there is no need to get too excited about it.

At the same time LT, this is an international media outlet, many non-Zambians may be reading this, how about employing an grammatical editor? I know you already have an editor to check for story content, but you also need one to make sure the resulting published article is polished and up to standard.

Anyway, just a suggestion…keep up the good work, you’re a real blessing for those of us in diaspora…… :)>-

  20. Wishing you all a happy new year fellow bloggers <:-p<:-p<:-p<:-p<:-p<:-p<:-p<:-p<:-p<:-p<:-p<:-p<:-p<:-p<:-p<:-p<:-p<:-p<:-p<:-p<:-p**==

  21. **==INDEPENDENT Churches of Zambia (ICOZ) president Reverend David Masupa has observed that President Rupiah Banda’s going on holiday shows that he treasures leisure more than solving the economic difficulties that have plagued the country.**== From the Post Newspatper.

This is the president you guys in Zambia voted for us!!!! Ataseee! Uko!

  22. To my fellow bloggers this is OFF TOPIC BUT please please everytime i go on this BLOG SOME PIPO R ARGUING ABOUT TRIBES N LANGUAGES. ARE THESE THE THINGS THAT MATTER REALLY, I THINK THOSE NOT MARRIED SHOULD MARRY OUTSIDE THEIR TRIBES SO THAT UR CHILDREN DON’T HAVE SUCH COMPLEXES.I MYSELF AM OF BEMBA AND TUMBUKA HERITAGE AND I APPRECIATE THE GOOD THINGS IN BOTH THE CULTURES AND IGNORE THE BAD SILLY THINGS.EVERY CULTURE HAS GOOD N BAD, WE SHOULD REALLY DO AWAY WITH THESE SILLY COMPLEXES PLEASE.

  23. LT your headline for this story is vague. I feel it was supposed to read something like ” SPEAK OUT ON NATIONAL ISSUES -BISHOP KAMUKWAMBA URGES THE CHURCH”

  24. Norah, its me Chewe.I dont know why am coming out as Anonymous even after printing my name.I dont know whats with LT! Cant be scared of a beautifull Queen like you Nora. After all,am stil single, young and i can keep mwana wabena. So no need to be scared.

  25. Where is #46 getting all this Tribal things here? I have checked all entries on this article and there is none mentioning tribal issues. I hope you are at home in the Bemba-Tumbuka skin yourself. At times we need to talk about tribalism. In Kenya, they never talked about it until what happened a year ago!!!! By talking about it, we can outgrow it than pushing it aside until we are swept suddenly.

Have a peaceful christmas season and Happy New Year 2009 to you all guys**==**==**==**==**==**==

  26. @43, This Reverend Masupa is not consistent. Once a 3rd term proponent! Let him conduct elections in his organisation, he has always headed that organisation. He’s always divisive in nature. When well meaning organisations like EFC, CCZ and ZEC opposed the third term, he embraced Chiluba openly. He loves to be in limelight, perhaps that’s the more reason he opted to form a splinter Church mother body so that he could be hitting headlines.

  27. On #50,before you condemn my english.I meant to say,i dont know whats wrong with LT.Ndaba pa blog apa pali ma english teachers.

  28. So this Nora, is she now the new bomb on LT after our sweet Baby C has drifted into obscurity? Nora, can we get to know each other? Ine ninebo Chale:d

    51. your flag Mweruwantipa, well put and keep it up. Bloggers need to read and understand the contents before posting anything unture about a thread.

  30. @61, If you want to attract attention pa LT, blog in with a female name,e.g ELIZA, BETTY, LADY CHIZA’S LEGS, MISS SOMETHING,,,. You will see how bamuk0lwe will fight over you. If you were to display your PAYPAL account here, I guess within a day bamuk0lwe will pamper it up with enough shekels

  31. 3Rqu wow don’t appreciate you calling me a liar when all I wrote was my humble experience.I see though that Maestro corrected you.I didn’t say I got that accent from SA did I? I’m not about to give you my travel history or why I ended up in some place studying what I did on that scholarship etc Anyway have fun blogging after all all we know is how to :-@ right?
BTW you did an amateur job hacking the Zamnet site. Real hackers don’t advertise their work and claim root access, they just leave carnage!Good for Zamnet though.

  32. Ba chewe, nine chale hope youre enjoying the season.ndepusuka fye kumpepo..im on low as im away on holiday so i read from time to time for latest news…take care bonse abena zambia.. tupitilishe ukutemwana…not iya Nora and Ba chewe but ikwa yesu…hugs

And we shall have standing ovations for good old Maestro He he he…

  35. #31 Chewe, & #32 Nora, I made it very clear as for what Ba LT are blamed for every now and then. By the way, i dont need your English lessons. I am an Electrical Engineer and some IT specialist! So spare your lessons for journalist, editors and the like… I was already tested back home and i got the same grade as yours, i.e if you were among the very few. I hope we understand one another!

  36. Cece Mwalisambilila and if I were you I would be giving thanks to God and not bragging about it. A lot of people back home would want to be more than you. Scholarships are not as easy any more so kneel down today and say a prayer. And, yeah say thank you for that accent too! I bet baledabwafye pa Zed ati akamusungu:d

  37. #74 you seem to be obsessed with hacking. You think it’s another peccadillo don’t you?
As for my plan, I won’t say much except that I did not spend so much time in Europe so that I can go back to Zambia and fail. I will only go there once I’m 100% sure that I have the blueprint to success. Behind every fortune is a masterplan and this is what I’m working on. So long…I’m out for today.

  38. #78 Ama Paul Law, bakamba mwipushe #58 Chewe. Nakeshiba akanono ndelalandapo. Umwaiche alikatemwa ukufumafye ku bwaiche. :-s

    66. your flag Nine Chale, you are very funny, but have yourself some great time.

    My regards to your family.

  40. We Zambians are a very funny lot. Is it a matter of speaking even when you have no clue as to what you are talking about? Isn’t for govt to tell us what they are doing and how it affects nationals at individual, community or institutional levels. Can we just speak without facts? What if they turn round like Mulongoti always does and asks you what you know and what the basis is your talking is? How will that help us in the end? We shall become a talking shop and meanwhile, they will be stealing money. Give them enough rope to ghang themselves and we shall talk when we go to the ballot.

  41. Shani bane pa blog. Naumfwafye muli bati ati kwaliba ka LT. Its been interesting reading. You will be seeing me quite often from today. Uunsekeshe saana ni Maestro. Ala Maestro uletekanya nshilefwaya baka kutamfye pa blog.

  45. 😡 Nora, I’ve consulted the elders…and I feel you are my …:-\” sweetest song! Merry christmas Bloggers. Ba Chewe tumfwane, shaniko Nora; I can take care of her baby!!!

  46. #88 seems to me that Maestro hhheee received a very sweet Bemba promise of love for his Christmas. I think it’s time I went for some of his sisters from Southern Province. One Zambia one nation. Merry New Year!:o

Keep well and have some nice blogging.

  51. 87 Maestro.
You already answered that question. And you said there was something wrong with me so I just logged off. Anywho I talk to you everyday using different names like Mrs Blah.

  52. I’m astoundingly impressed with the sense of brotherlines; especially Ba Chewe and Maestro Hhehhehhehhe. I think fi mapolitics fitulengesha.

Maestro Hhehhehhehhe:”SweetZED: Ni M’tinta, yashani bataata?”

I’m just amused at your Bemba written skills as well as your spearheading of the inter-tribal ties. Everyone on this blog may have thought the least of you in such a realm. Keep up with it bro.

I’m marrying your ka simbi – M’tinta in the name of One Zambia one nation and I’m NOT paying In’gombe, otherwise they’re gonna back charge it to “Maestro Hhehhehhehhe”!:d/

  53. Such are the ones who went to where they were not sent. the ones who have not been called have not been given the word to preach so they scramble about for scraps from the rubbish bins of politics and ethics, and morality and humanism to feed their flock. Oh! how my heart bleeds for the flock shepherded by such hirelings! Every true clergyman has plenty of the pure milk of the word to feed the flock with. The ones who have been called have to preach the word in season and out of season. Go join politics you whitewashed tombs who make your converts twice more the children of hell!

    103. your flag SweetZED – Concluder, co-existence in harmony is the way to go. I wish you well in you intents and take careful care always.

I am sure we can work out something for you in the Ing’ombe payments.

Hha hha hha hha, until the next time. :*.

  55. MJPC blames the Congolese Government for Deteriorating Situation in East Congo

“There is no excuse for missing to pay salaries to soldiers in lawless eastern Congo for six months”

Following the deteriorating situation in east Congo, the MJPC called for the Congolese Government to pay the salaries of thousands of soldiers who have not been paid for over six months in east Congo, take swift action to enforce the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) warrant against Bosco Ntaganda and to hold accountable perpetrators of sexual violence against women for their acts.
