LT Update: Help us clean up the comments

Share

Lately we have seen the deterioration of the comments on the site. As stated in our comments policy, Lusaka Times welcomes and encourages your commentary and debate. However, we request that you restrict your comments to pertinent matters. We will not tolerate any comments that are abusive, threatening, defamatory or libelous, or attacks, ad hominem and otherwise, on fellow bloggers.

In addition we need to show respect to our leaders as it is very unZambian to insult elders. You may not agree with what they do but do not insult them. Some of the leaders do visit this web site.

In the light of this, we would like to appeal to those mature bloggers to vote down any comments that violate our comments policy. This helps us quickly track down bad comments and delete them. We have the technology to either put the poster on moderation list or ban him from posting comments or even ban him from seeing the site completely.

Happy 2009

Good morning Mwana. LT must respect our freedom of expression to some extent. We will not keep quiet and watch whilst our leaders do wrong!!

  2. Yes these green card lottery American bloggers need to be dealt with. You may not need the brains to win a green card, but you need one when you come to comment on a public forum. You don’t see useless comments from people in SA because most of the guys here are educated and you need to be educated to come and live in South Africa

    Good move LT

  3. Good Morning BA MOZE!! Lets help in cleaning our site clean. Lets all join hands in “The Keep LT Clean Campaign”.

  4. The other issue that needs your attention is impersonation. This has terribly annoyed bloggers. I suggest that anyone who tries to use a name that already exists should receive the following comment when s/he attempts to submit a comment: THAT USER ID ALREADY EXISTS, PLEASE CREATE YOUR OWN.

  5. Good Morning BA MOZE!! Lets help in keeping this site clean. Lets all join hands in “The Keep LT Clean Campaign”.

  6. Mossad

Good morning Mudala. Whilst the move is appreciated, our freedom of expresion must not be infringed upon, otherwise the site will become meaningless!

  7. Saw this coming :d. When African politicians get involved it becomes difficult!

LT how do you know we don`t have elders among bloggers?

  8. @6, Lets not call each other names please!!! We have started the day on a good note, on a of reconciliatory note.

  9. You are right LT, it’s just too much for some bloggers, and this issue of being #1 is it important to us? and some people are now discussing personal issues on this blog instead of comenting about the topic at hand. i think there are a lot of children, underage visiting this site who doesn’t even know what to say concerning whatever issue is brought on this blog. for those comenting real and important issues i salute your maturity.

  10. bamisoka guys I know the vets of the site are hurt. but dnt worry its a new resoulution for LT with time they will forget.

  11. #18

Nice one. Just a temporal set back. Ba Moze, dont be discouraged. We love and appreciate your humour. after all, “all work and no play, makes #6 a ………” 😡

  12. Oh! tahnk God my prayers Have been Answered,Ihave been talking about this thing on several occassions.

    #6.MMD Chief Bootlicker

    Good morning Guys!!:-h:-h

  13. Good morning Bamoze.
Lusaka Times, it is about time you did something like this. I often get put off by the bad language of some of these bloggers.

  14. Lusaka

Good morning mwana. CIA is in the house. LT bought some new gadgets after the “Turkish” incident!! :)):))

  15. Green Flags
Have you noticed that there are more green flags today? What has happened to the diasporans? Could they be the worst culprits in bad posts?
    Matworld
It is a bright day pa Lusaka. Wish you were here.

  16. LT Thank You very much for finally commin up with this. I personally began to feel queit put off to come and blog here coz of the comments and insults. We may have freedom of expression but that does not mean we need to insult our leaders to express that freedom. I hope all the immature bloggers will find elsewhere to go and leave us that want to contribute to the development of this country continue to blog here! Big Up LT!! l-)

  17. I agree with LT, critising leaders and insulting them are 2 different things. Critising is part of freedom of expression but insulting is not. As Zambians we are known to be people that respect leaders, thats why serious minded people have stopped contributing to LT. I hope with this move things will change.

  18. Matworld mornig boi.

    Babie,19

wansenkesha i never knew u r this funny.

    LT

Good move,u now work on impersonation we ve lost a great deal of good bloggers like baby c and on this score i conquer with Biggie jim at 8

  20. Thanx LT tell them let those who are mature follow what is supposed to follwed topic by topic and not to use any abusive words on this blogg. And to those guys who are fond of writing number 1 thats bad bad and if they don’t have something to write on let them not do so very childish.LT keep up your works.

    Ba Moze

Why? no ci greeting,Anyway let me greet you.How are you big man?

  22. :(( just when I started equipping myself with vabakulu. Anyway, LT …you are the bosses. But remember not ukuchita over. Do you want us to switch to Arabic where you wont know that we are using that good language? Saana Saide!

  23. 3RqU

  24. Pa zed nachilila. Utuma flag lizanda thats why nomuchinshi wachepa pa blog. Its ok ba LT nomba twalikula no more insults.

  25. Matworld
I hope that you are not in the line of fire. Those South Africans have serious issues that will take years to resolve and in the meantime, innocent lives will continue to be lost.

    #34Lusaka foreigner
You mean you could not find yourself another name.

Bloggers beware: another Lusaka on the loose

  26. Matworld

Sorry mudala. just that LT nashupa kuno. Whatever you do today, just make sure you dont go anywhere higher than the second floor uko mudala. Kuti bakuposa amgaizi.

  27. ba moze i think LT is not really upto infringing our freedom of expression but mwan dini some comments are so bad that they keep some of us wondering.people can comment but not insult.i know you as a man of integrity so lets just uphold LT’s move.

LT THANKS FOR THIS MOVE ITS A GOOD ONE!!!!

  28. G Baby

    I feel you :)>-

We will support LT. after all, Munensu!
and true, some comments are too pathetic and scary mwee.

  29. MATWORLD…

Please take very good care of your self.i dont want you to fall victim.those people that side live like ……napapata stay awy from…

  30. Hi, This is a very good guide to bloggers. LT should come up with more guidelines on what the comments should be, any one not following them should be deleted and further comments be blocked we need sanity, sensible and people who are objective and not subjective. Thanx for your attention

  31. LT please make sure that you enforce this policy as well as dealing with impersonators and identity thieves. However, I hope you do not go any further down the road towards stifling freedom of speech. Let it end at banning insults but let constructive and even caustic criticism based in fact be allowed always.

  32. Matworld-Nice guy!

Are you on recess this time around? I thought schools are closed? Come home for the break and make sure you get a ride from a foreigner, they might throw you off a moving car you know.

  33. 3RqU

    Good morning Mudala!! :)>-

LT is the man today. No insults. and even the mention of a number anywhere in a sentence, you will be deleted. I just have one question though. The name “Akhulu Mphuno”. Since its Mpezeni who coined it, are we allowed to use it?:-?

  34. G BABY

Iam very safe my dear.Thats is why Iam always indoor.I stay at a flat where more occupants are whites only four black families out of 21.So whites being the culprits of apathied they try by all means to be nice.the other thing is Zambian are respected here most of them are well educated and have good Jobs, unlike the Zim guys, they are also educated but they are takedn for granted coz of their desperation for jobs, hence south african tends to think that zims are stealing their jobs and women :-j:-j.those killed 2 were from Zim and 1 from TZ may their souls rest in eternal peace.

  35. Good indeed, it was such a sorry site if you read people’s postings and you imagine that are these people young or old? Do they work, are they married?? Nice that some sanity is trying to be restored and I hope it will remain that way.

  36. Thank God,i hop the likes of Lady chizas legs and sum anonymous chaps hav goten ths.Thanx LT. Gud morning Matworld,Lusaka(original),Ba Moze(nachimiloto boss), G Baby, 3RqU,Amano mutwe, charlie, Ponyax (welcome back) and those tht i havent mentiond u r all in my prayers 2day

  37. Not sure Ba Moze. We have been told they come on here and read the comments.

I bet some of these “elders” even contribute. Why don`t they do anything about what we suggeset then?

Let me have a guess, Ba Zambia may be A…….! Steady on Ba Moze you will be put in mod!:d

  38. Matworld-Nice guy!

So you are hiding amongst whites! That is quite a turn around. I feel for you, stay safe and blessed.

  40. Zoe

Ba Moze we have to talk how come acimi….anyway I will talk to you later, let me sweep my bedroom.

  41. Thank God,i hop the likes of Lady chizas legs and sum anonymous chaps hav goten ths.Thanx LT. Gud morning Matworld,Lusaka(original),Ba Moze(nachimilota boss), G Baby, 3RqU,Amano mutwe, charlie, Ponyax (welcome back) and those tht i havent mentiond u r all in my prayers 2day

  42. Zoe ba Ponyanx has come back a very changed man. May be ni new year resolution! Good for LT I think! We are yet to see.

Matworld just been on the other side and seen the comments from last night!:o Pathetic.

I suggested sometime back that may be we need to register like on other sites.

  43. Happy New year little men, ladies and Gentle men, Zambians and bloggers at large! I have just woken up from my hibernation, let loose my ploughing cattle, rung the village bell and here I am just seated on my favourite stool and lo and behold LT.

  44. 72-3RquU I am sorry but i am not registering anything. my mind is so saturated with user names and passwords that I have to remember every time i want to access some website….no no my dear 😮

  45. Gentleman,Let us use this facility to educate each other on isues affecting our nation. We do not need to insult but let is comment well on real issues affecting us

  46. Nine Chale

The proud Bemba, may I have the privilege of extending my personal greetings and well wishes to you my friend.

  47. #74, KA’DOYO…

Do you have any Zambian name in mind (no nonsense possible leader)? Ofcourse we know its not SATA.

  48. KA`DOYO it`s the only way to monitor and control the comments. You do not need to remember all pass words. For simple things like this, keep details on your lap top/computer.

It may be tricky though if you use a works` lap top or PC. If you use the same one at home and work then cool!

  49. ZOE….

    Good morning.how are you today?
thanks for the prayers will remember you in prayer too.
have a blessed day and move in the favor of God.

  50. LT just put something like ‘Report Abuse’ somewhere around every posted comment so that whoever feels offended by somebody’s comment can reported it to LT by clicking that tab and then LT decides whether to leave or remove the comment

  51. 3RqU am around,fi stress fye.Wen stressed nshifwaya ukulanda na bantu otherwise am cool, praying that my boss dnt visit my office 2day.

  52. fellas freedom to express is a right and if people decide to insult someone, then it’s upto that person to take it up with law enforcers. LT will only provide evidence as to source of post.

wake up guys there is no such thing as un-zambian to express yourself. give it a few nore years and we will be able to protest any day we want, without permission (pemits).

just ignore the bad posts and move on.if you feel so agrieved then take it up with that character.

registration and banning will only make this un-interesting site.

  53. 3RqU

Lets not complicate things mwana. Lets just adhere to LT’s suggestion and see where it takes us. Registering anso?

  54. It is indeed about time that this was done. I suppose there are many ways of expressing displeasure and redicule without necessarilly using abisive language (that is a civilised way).

  55. #85 there is no available technology to block some one from accessing a public domain.

they can only ban those who use the same IP address.

people will still use different types of IP addresses.

in the end LT will have blocked their site from being accessed.

  56. The move is welcome. We need sensible and meaningful contributions on this site. Some pipo just rush on commenting without reading the topic at hand.I’ve always wondered why LT entertains such comments.

  57. The many threats on my life by disguised and hateful characters purpoting to be PF diehards is one which immediately came to my mind. Words innocently woven in tin pockets of explosive truth and fact raise more uproar reaction I have come to see than direct insulting, embarrasingly open abusive terms or words.

  58. #90 NINE LIVES. I somehow agree with you. People need to say and hear the true of what every Zambian or foreigner feels about the other individual (especially politicians in particular) and Zambians we have got a illiterate tendency of running away from hush criticism and maybe that way we don’t move forward in development

  59. G BABY

Pinkly is no where to be seen,Iam sure she will in very soon.Yesterday she was impersonated by one chap, only hope she has not given up.

  60. The pit bull is known for its limited size of brain and this especially account for its aggresive nature. The intersting thing to note is that it is a dog, emotional but yet still just a dog. May we learn as bloggers not to imitate this type of creature in our endeavour to share knowlege, words, ideas and what so ever is communicative on this blog.

    Thumb Print here below

    The chiefs Kapaso

  61. For how shall we endeavour to explain to fellow Zambians that Sata is enormously misleading and not to trusted without stepping on someones toes?

  62. Iam very glad to hear that some of our Leaders do visit this site. Please our leaders if you visit this site today am begging you take all sensible comments that your surbodinates have submitted on this site into consideration. Its not that we enjoy attacking you no,but its becoz you dont listen to our cries. We love you and respect you as we are commanded by the Bible to respect you,but it is very painful to learn that you see our comments on this site, and yet you do nothing. We love and respect you but you have to reciprocate as well.God bless you all.

    Matworld.

    Ba Moze
you owe me an explanation. :-j:-j

  63. Pansaka tapabula fiwelewele,we coexist to keep society in balance. Some individuals had 100 per cent chance of passing through the process of primary socialisation and rightfully concieved societal norms and values. This prepared them to learn and perform active roles in society. While other did not even had a chance to pass through the process of primary socialisation ,they concieved less norms and values because the process was performed by incapable institutions like education and religion.

  64. To restrain what I may term ‘pit bull mentallity’ yet allowing a healthy and educative discussion is the envisioned goal by LT by their annoucement. I would conjecture that this move is both to be highly applauded but also highly risky in some sence depending on how many like minded Zambian blog sites could be on the stream offering similar service. But overall, LT must be commended for its stance!

  65. Please Lt provide us a list of bloggers that you ban so it can serve as an example. This is a good idea. blogging has become so personal its nolonger interesting because some chaps just want to insult. Congrats LT

  66. One explanation LT still has not given is why they moderate progressive comments also. Yes, its true some moderated comments deserve to be, but not all comments are bad. i still insist that to some extent, LT is infringing on our freedom of expression right. At this rate, and with time, LT will become unpopular. LT therefore needs to come up with innovative ideas on how to make the site both useful and relevant to Bloggers.

    Matworld

Its not what you think mudala. Am innocent. Infact, Zoe had an innocent dream, nothing sinister mudala. Zoe, where are you? can you explain? Yapya kuno!! :o:o:o

  67. Ba Moze

Do you suppose that this is a GRZ funded site? The right to express your views can never be infringed apon by a privately run site. The issue at hand is that it is a blog site nontheless, a private run blog site.

  68. If our leadres do visit this site, why dont they participate in the discussions and respond to some serious questions raised by the public.

  69. IwE Phirie

Still chasing shadows in the boat now sunk by its own captain. Your oxygen tank be big enough to sustain your life under water.

  70. so much for freedom of expression :-w….why can’t the so called elders appreciate some of the comments expressed on this site???

  71. Roma Side

You are correct. If leaders visit this site, then they do so in their own private capacities as citizens. In any case, for all you know, i could be the Minister of Defense himself!! That comment from LT does not hold water. Simply discourage bloggers from using abusive language.Period!

  72. Anonymous (Muli bangati kasi?)

I’m saying With what LT is doing (moderating progressive comments), bloggers’ freedom to air their expressions is being infringed, GRZ or Privately run!

  73. BTW are you Zambians aware of what the Nigerians said about you Zambian on that thread about ‘Nigeria donating towards flood …?

You will be shocked! check the thread.

  74. OKEY THATS GOOD BA LT COZ HERE WHERE I AM PIPO USED TO ENJOY READING COMMENTS KA IT WAS LIKE MTN EVERYWHERE U GO..BIG UP TO KA’DOYO I LIKE YOUR COMMENTS.

  75. Hello anonymous with the Bots flag, you are one of the worst. Obsessed with Sata, take LT’s advice, stop your insults/threats and get a life

  76. Ba Moze

Have you seen that statement at some private restuarants or Hotels- entry into …blah blah. Meaning owners have the reserved right to kick you out or keep you out. However, it is business they are after and you will not be kept out for any unwarranted cause. The same with this blog, IF YOU GET WHAT i MEAN.

  77. The freedoms of the Press and those of bloggers must remain the cornerstone of our democratic pillars as a people and a country. These freedoms, especially of bloggers, must be preserved as vital channels to facilitate the people’s ‘right to know’ and criticise. Any site, repeat, any site, must respect this ‘inalienable right’, whether it is LT, The Zambian etc. any way let me ask: Blogg gagging: A symptom of degenerating government or bigotry in leadership!

  78. Iwe Anonymous since you are Anonymous I don’t know if you are the one… “I want Sata to come to my village I have a surprise for him”. Maybe it’s not you. Anyway Pabwato! Viva Sata!

  79. Ba Moze,

Balekeni Ba LT,we will soon open ours,of course no valgar languege. As for now lets just follow what they are saying its their site and we have no say.big man is it true that you are the defence minister?if it is then mudala start dancing lessons pantu ilya dance yapa new year’s eve yaliko weired. :-j:-j:-j

  80. Very timely advise really.
My fellow bloggers lets adhere to this suggestion of talking sense and nothing else.
Lt thank you for letting know that some leaders visit this site and hopefully they take into consideration they very important ideas that are raised by some concerned bloggers!!

  81. Anyway it’s not a new thing LT, during the election campaign there was so much libel against Sata, including accusations of murder, cannibalism, Satanism etc.

  82. Bena Amonymous (The Two of You)

Yashani iyo? Alesa ndewo LT ka?
Abena Phiri (one of the Anonymous’), i think you owe Anonymous (the other Anonymous) an apology. He (the second Anonymous) has done you (Phiri the first Anonymous) no harm.
I therefore urge you (both Anonymouses)to cease fire. After all, you share the same name (Anonymous)!

  83. kawalala.

How are you? take it easy man,you witnessed what was happening yesterday.Iam sure that is what has made ba LT to do this, lets not blame them so much,we are somehow the cause of this.cheer up man :)>-:-j:-j:-j

  84. Matworld howzit XA – what was happening yesterday? And Ba Moze I am never (Anonymous), sometimes I am a different kind of cell phone however you know how us bakuChipata are…

  85. Sony Ericsson Phiri

My dear easterner, i believe we have seen the last of you with that comment on #151. Iye, Mwasokoneza! safuna LT. Mawee!!

  86. Anonymous # 142

bwana you are at another level navi zungu mwana and your analysis makes very good reading. Keep it up

  87. Matworld,Ba Moze owes u no explanation at all at all.Infact u tht statement is supozd 2be addressd 2me and not Ba Moze, hes so so innocent. My dear Matworld,u r a nice guy please dnt crucify Ba Moze.Nimaloto chabe or r u suspecting ba Moze is a magician who visits pipo in their dreams?

  88. Sony Ericsson Phiri

Muli bwanji baba? have you heard no chibuku kumawa.Ba Moze yesterday was our speaker of the parlia…or sorry of the site.Mudala alilanda awe ba LT has to honour him.Penze ma points mailo ine kuyopa ati may be he’s filled with the Holy Spirit.Big Moze though you owe me an explanation yesterday wali shaina mudala. :-j:-j:-jI cant see Rashid jones any idea where he is?

  89. Check with other American or European site, insults are regarde as an expression of ones feeling,if you feel like putting a middle finger up,then let it be,who are you to limit one from a feeling, its up to the idividual to do that, for americans its even worse.I know you ,its a political move, lately they have felt the wrath of maniacs in diaspora, zambian leaders only can change by insults not sensible talks, cause they are immuned to sense

  90. Zoe

Why Ba Moze of all the pipo pa site. :-?:-?.

Ba Moze dont forget that I come from the same place na katele kaaa!!

  91. Matworld Rashid will be here I am sure.

Sony Ericsson Phiri shani. Have you seen the article ati takuli moba ku Lundazi?

    :d

  92. Okay……. Well this is no strange to our field coz we walk the walk rather than talk the talk. When we talk we don’t come cheap. Yeah, Roger that Alpha Romeo…….let me see whose ass has been kicked in Gaza on these terrorists…….

  93. Okay……. Well this is no strange to our field coz we walk the walk rather than talk the talk. When we talk we don’t come cheap. Yeah, Roger that Alpha Romeo…….let me see whose ass has been kicked in Gaza on those terrorists…….

  94. Way to go LT. #156, you can express yourself very effectively without resorting to explatives and tantrums which make you want to wash your mouth, in this case your fingers, after you are done…..insults just show limited ability in every sense, full stop. Well done LT…and the so-called leaders, lead by action and not making speeches. BTW, Mr Mulongoti, jumping up & down on a falling bridge at night is not the action I mean here!!

  95. maltworld boyi,am okey
I will be the first one to be banned,I know it,whether I comment or not,I know ma plan yabo,am on their list, they just want ka comfirmation, next it will be ba maureen, then prof mutengo wamenga, and king cobra.
manje boyi bazadabwa nizambo sekako chabe ine

  96. kawalala

I will protest Ngaba ku juba iwe boyi.Iwe ni Zee am sure nabeve ba ziba ati iwe nizee. :-j:-j:-j:-j

  97. yeah thats true LT. it really discourages people with valid contributions from doing so.you can still air your views without using insulting language. like someone once said ‘you can tell someone to go to hell and they will look forward to the trip’. so, lets build mother Zambia. She’s all we have!

  98. LT,

I have noticed that there is a tendency of voting down a fellow blogger for the simple reason that you differ in opinion. This therefore calls for your (LT) extreme care in deciding as to whether to delete the comment or not. The point is that the thumbs down my not necessarily reflect an unpalatable comment, but a difference in opinion.

  99. EFYO
Welcome move LT. Iam aware that some government leaders do visit this site. Some I want to believe do so with a sense to learn from people out there their position on matters of national interest. Therefore, a well-put comment posted on the site will go a long way in achieving the intended objective of getting the powers that be to act on matters that affect the economic, social or religious well being of Zambians.
    Big up.

  100. #175 you are just exibiting your bootlicking tactics, what are you scared of, for you to start pleading for ba LT,to ma zambians you will never grow, start on ya feet ,elevate your mental state,be you,I be me,do you,I do me,thats how it goes, embcell

  101. This is a good move LT. Perhaps now we are going to see more mature and relevant posts on the site. But should we tone down on the comments against government? They maybe controversial but they do help our leaders stay jacked up. I’m sensing that some government officials have started reading LT news and they are worried about the possibility of educated Zambians influencing the masses. We can’t just let them do wrong and justify it by saying they are elderly.
On the other hand, let us also wash out those comments about being Number 1, Number 2 and let’s look out for those who are turning LT into a dating site. Usage of other bloggers’ names and out of topic posts should also be monitored.

  102. #181 can you please explain to me what is wrong with being nambala wanu? I am failing to understand. Please educate me

  103. Bloggers

You mean there are no names out there that you can pick sure?
This name “Anonymous”, awee sure! Anonymous, Anonymous Nokia, Anoymous Phiri, Anonymousi, and again two other Anonymouses.
This is what creats confusion. makamaka mu Diaspora.

    Weston

    Iyo, mwalanda bwino ichisungu bakamba!
    :)>-

  104. ya tensa manje, maybe LT should live us with some breatha, sometimes there are never better words to express oneself. Some issues cannot be discribed any better. apa its a question of supressing…

  105. A difference of opinion should not constitute an unpalatable comment. There is a lot to be learnt from the diversity of comments posted on LT. To this effect, some of us do not even hide our names because we mean well. For instance,I did not vote for LPM in 2001 but whenever he did well I was at hand to applaud him. Praise must be given where it is due. Similarly being in the opposition does not mean everything about the ruling party is nonsense. Uko kuluba. That said, Ba RB has a lot of work to do. His answers to Zambia’s problems must be solid and desirably longlasting. Not the way things are being done. I hope I have not insulted imfumu

  106. #179 kaili boyi ukalemba the right spelling nishi its an insult,so manje the best is kulemba ka spelling kaboza waziba

  107. # 185 BA MOZE THANKS.
We are here to build our Zambia. You know I get worried when we have majority of Zambian people acting like robots. We deserve better. We need to answer the whys and wherefores of every action /situation. E buntu.

  108. Anonymous #192

    Point noted. :)>-

Might as well start calling myself “Anonymous Ba Moze”.

    :o:o Iliko bad iyi mwee!

  109. I think LT is a place where zambians interact with one another, especially those overseas/abroad missing whats goinng on back home.keep.it.up fellow zeds.I love mother Zambia.

  110. 😮 LT, I beg to differ. Blogging is supposed to enhance our freedom of expression and that INCLUDES some of the unsavoury posts from some of our colleagues. It’s what makes the blog fluid, dynamic and exciting. But if you start employing an overly strict comments policy, it stifles spontaneity and makes the blog extremely boring. That said, it’s YOUR blog so you have a right to do as you please, just remember that Zedians are ‘muselela kwakaba’ & may quickly desert your site for any decent competitor they feel gives them greater freedom of expression!

  111. What happened to the spirit of truthfulness and forthrightness in everything a Zambian did.
For example, most of us Zambians went to school so that at the end of the day, we could get a job. What Zambia needs are skills that will sustain them socially, economically or indeed in any other way for life. We need to go to the basics of not insulting but of putting across your point.

  112. #6 mmd bl kwena uli boot licker. Do you need education to live in SA. My friend has got business there and he hasnt what you mentioned.

  113. Ah OK #191 kawalala I understand your spelling… but is still an insult if you spell it differently so why are you not listening to LT? Does anyone know who LT is anyway? LT who are you pliz?

  114. Hello fellow bloggers !!

I have come too late to make a comment. This is not to say iam guilty. I was invited to celebrate Orthodox Christmas and it was nice celebrating Christmas twice.I appreciate the good contributions from all bloggers and i salute LT for taking a good step in the right direction. Keep it up LT but dont block my nambala comment(lol).

  115. Kawalala

😮 Nakukanila boyi! its my flag after all. Thou shall not lead me into temptation. Lt has brought about these restrictions because of bloggers like you. Awee mayo, try else where. This block is way out of your league! in fact you dont even come a kilometre close. Way out boy, way out. Enjoy your day!:)>-

  116. LT some comments are not insults by nature. The are meant to draw attention to some matter/issue. For example, yesterday, I made a comment about Hon Mulongoti inspecting the Chinyunyu bridge at night. Whatever he might say in defence, going to inspect the bridge at night was ill-timed and shows a seroius lack of technical competence and know on the part of the minister. Thre he was busy jumping up and down on the bridge trying to get a feel of the extent of the structural damage. He is less than 80kg. What was that supposed to achieve. This is no insult but a call for seriousness in whatever we do.

  117. I also sense LT is coming under increasing pressure from those in government because of the seriousness of the comments posted here. Is this the case LT?

  118. #169 whether Iam happy or not is non of your damn business. Otherwise even your comments may be termed ‘innocent’ but need you grieve over what your feeble mind cannot fathom or comprehend later on over what your weak subconcious is able to tell your even weaker body to do? You may sound to be holier than thou but is that what you really are coz you seem to be a lost people pleaser. Anyhow ….before I was rudely interrupted…I was in the middle of combing out Gaza trying to figure out the number of casualties, so keep your silly comments for your constipation

  119. Blogging is about freely expressing opinions. i.e if I think Micheal Sata is a CLOWN, it’s not libelious but rather a personal opinion. I feel the same way about some character’s in Rupiah Banda’s team & will NOT hesitate to criticise them with a clear conscience…Some on the blog have called me all sorts of names but I take it all in as feedback (+ve & -ve). The very origins of the internet, was a censor free medium designed to survive a nuclear war. It’s only repressive regimes like China & Middle East countries who actually censor & stifle this wonderful medium…

  120. Matworld i said no explanation, need i say more. Moreover it was a nitemare thts y i jus cut it short 2say Ba Moze nachimilota. Nothing more,i hope now u understand. Now baby come give mummy a very big>:d<>:d

  121. 207, Weston,

The probability of your sixth sense is more than 0.9

Keep it up. I have enjoyed reading your comments.

  122. Biggie Jim
Thanks. In 1996 I told my dad that FTJ was going to go for a third of office. This was because of how he was getting ba MONKO to rally behind him going to the extent of attempting to establish an MMD branch at UNZA. The old man thought I was crazy because he was an MMD die hard. 2001 he gave it his best shot albeit in vain. My bother, there are certain telltale signs that we ought to lookmout for in our leaders.

  123. Zoe

Vanveka!! >:d<>:d<. Ba moze Iam so so so so sorry big man.please dont tell mrs ba Moze.:-j:-j:-j:-j

  124. Next, I want to see LT state their position as to the way forward on this matter of cleaning up the comment on this site. Already the bloggers seem to split over self regulation and freedom of speech with all the langauage uncensored (freedom of speech they are calling it). What’s the way forward LT? I suggest should run an online vote on this matter and be prepared to accepted the wishes of the bloggers

  125. I fail to understand why so many people find it hard to obey laws. In every public forum, laws are inevitable in order to maintain a civilised conduct towards each other. My freedom of expression should ends when someone else’s dignity is being infringed. Simple.
Why should it be impossible for us here to comment without using profane language or personally attacking other users? Basically, nothing is wrong with letting out emotions but one must be aware not to violate others thereby. Having said this, I hope we all abide by the laws in this forum and make it easier for LT to concentrate on other important issues, like proof-reading their stories.

  126. #157 GHOST DOG…….WELL WRITTEN MWANA. HOW ELSE ARE WE EFFECTIVELY SUPPOSED TO COMMUNICATE WITH OUR LEADER WHEN NORMAL SENSIBLE TALK AND CRITICISM DOESN’T MEAN ANYTHING TO THEM AND YET (FROM MY OBSERVATION) ONLY UGLY DIRTY TALK AND CRITICISM ACTUALLY GETS THEIR FULL ATTENTION.

  127. Well if we are a democracy I think we should be allowed to speak our minds…if insult comes as a result of commentary…I think it should be allowed…We need to hold our leaders accountable…When we vote them in state office…they must act accordiningly…they must know that if they dont they will be attacked for their actions…I dont care if you are older…If i am not happy and I am living in a deplorable society…I feel we as zambians need to voice our opinions… If we dont we end up with governments like the ones we had under FTJ…where everybody eats while you sleep…and i think this is what fraustrates people, hence the profane language…

  128. IF YOU KEEP QUITE AS A NATION THEN LEADERS WILL AUTOMATICALLY PRESUME YOU ARE OK WITH IT OR DON’T KNOW ANYTHING AT ALL AND THEN THEY WILL CONTINUES TO DO EVEN WORSE THINGS……SO PLEASE PEOPLE SPEAK YOUR MINDS OUT AND CRITICIZE TO THE FULLEST AND PLEASE LT LET US BE JUST THAT ‘A FREE NATION FOR ALL’ AND NOT JUST THE INCOMPETENT LEADERS……ONE ZAMBIA, ONE NATION :)>-

  129. Freedom of expression with responsibility for the consequences of expressed ideas borders on anarchy wilst that freedom of expression that is cognisant of the feelings and privacy of others is an unalienable right.

The difference is subtle in most minds and as I have said on this blogg many times, we tend to very rarely exhibit high quality conversations leaning on most times to personal vendettas, tribal affiliations, and insults of leaders rather than critical analysis of leaders political decisions.

Let us show that we can engage in serious dialogue where we even differ on opinions without resorting to insults. I agree fully LT.

  130. This is the death of free speech and ushering in of old mentalities running this board. Most of the ‘mature’ bloggers are very backward and are incapable of thinking beyond colonial times. What you will get is a backlash where other bloggers give more votes to the immature posts. Not everyone on lsktimes is a keyboard armchair professional who types all day and doesn nothing in real life

  131. Freedom of expression WITHOUT responsibility for the consequences of expressed ideas borders on anarchy wilst that freedom of expression that is cognisant of the feelings and privacy of others is an unalienable right.

  132. Hats off LT.

Please consider limiting the number of smilies a blogger can use a time also. I have observed that seeing many of them like 15 of a similar type at once is irritating to my eyes.

    LT Award Winner,
Maestro Hhehhehhehhe (Mugungulu H. Mwaanga, Physicist G~la_fj)
    Ni |-).

  133. LT, you should also block out comments posted in the local languages because most of them are full of vulgarity. Trusting that henceforth contributors will will debate issues and stop wallowing in insults and other useless things. HOWEVER, LT should allow bloggers to criticise the government or politicians. LT should not attempt to turn bloggers into hero worshippers.

  134. The article us half correct
Ba LT you have to explain further what you exatly mean that we should respect elders. Honestly how do you know that all the bloggers are you?? Some of us are even OLDER than Money Banda. As much as we agree that we should bring to your attention all the bloggers that are fond of insulting, we would appreciate if you could please respect our FREEDOM OF SPEECH. IF YOU DONT SO THAT THEN THE PURPOSE OF YOUR WEBSITE WILL BE WORTHLESS AND MANY BLOGGERS WILL NOT PAYING YOU A VISIT. WE LOVE YOU BA LT, PLEASE DONT BE CONTROLLED BY POLITICIANS. THANKS

  135. Dear Bloggers just want to let you know that we are temporarily closing this site..this is because we are recieving alot of abusive language then comments expected for stories we put up..however LT management is committed to serve and come up with new methods one of them being Loggin and passwords entry provision to all bloggers,,,thank you once again

  136. Correction
    I meant
    a)article is half correct
b)IF YOU DONT DO SO THEN…..AND MANY BLOGGERS WILL STOP PAYING YOU A VISIT.

  137. Well what LT has done is good. People should not take this as a forum for insulting each other or the leaders, there are other sites where you can chatt with your friends without direction in minds than go on this LT site and talk rubbish. We know there is freedom of speech, but to be honest, thats not how freedom goes with insults.
All this is due to ignorance or UBUTUTU, somebody gives you a chance to express yourself, then you star insults. No Bongo. Thanks to LT, some people trully would like to read about constructive contributions. Napwa.

  138. Insults are bad …I agree with you LT. However as my friends have said you should not silence us and dont stoop us to criticise the politicians. We are all Zambians and we know what is going on in our beloved country. If things are not well we have to criticise who ever is associated with mimanagement of our little resources. So politicians should be ready to feel our critisism.

    Keep it up LT.

  139. #240
    No jokes please!!!!!!!!!!
This is a serious issue, we are no longer allowed to comment on topics based on how feel about the contents as LT will block our comments. THIS IS SO UPSETTING

  140. Criticise but don’t insult. I do not think insulting should be taken as a freedom of speech. LT is not talking against criticism, albeit god or bad, just the isnult on leaders and fellow bloggers. We hear you LT. Also, flirting on the blog shoud not be tolarated.

  141. Criticise but don’t insult. I do not think insulting should be taken as a freedom of speech. LT is not talking against criticism, albeit good or bad, just the isnult on leaders and fellow bloggers. We hear you LT. Also, flirting on the blog shoud not be tolarated.

  142. tifunseko,so it means kulibe kuitana ati Nyama Soya, Kamulongoti, cabbage etc? thanks ba LT and what about those chaps who impersonate names?

  143. I foresee this site slowly but surely, becoming an MMD propaganda tool in future, pantu takwa site eepanga ama rules ayaifi.
    Let people express their views.
Who tell LT all bloggers at this site are young? What nonsense! Tulibakalamba ifwe.
Leaders are human also. And in any case, when you say leader, what do you mean? Am a leader in my own right!! LT, am so dissapointed with you kwena.

  144. # Manje Ba LT, some of us this has been the only source of humour very far away from home….and all we do is go on LT to comment, laugh and share…but ofcourse positively in line with the given Topic.
    IZAVUTA MWE!

  145. Why should a sovereign state impose limitations on the media? Why should there be a limit on the way citizens express themselves? Why should the electorate fear those we voted into power? If leaders fear to be insulted let them step down. Anywhere you go in the world, controversy surrounds positions in high office. Criticism will always follow a leader, he must face the consequences for his actions. We are sick and tired of the state controlled ZNBC, Daily Mail and Times bull. LT is one rare opportunity for us to expose and discuss issues that our so called leaders fail to address. Under the RB regime, I see UNIP-ish and primitive colonial mindsets crawling back into our nation.

  146. Rashid

I asked that question mwana! Should we stop saying “Akulu Mphuno”?
Mpezeni is the one that coined that name!! We read it in the post, so niyabwanji?

  147. What we are experiencing here is an inescapable consequence of so called human rights, and freedom of speech in particular. This is never absolute as some of you are supposing. Your rights end where the rights of another start. Thre is no such things as freedom of expression without excersing restraint and self control in your emotional outbursts. It is a challenge to us to debate rationally without resorting to emotional outbursts. Long live LT.

  148. And even if people threaten other bloggers, it is purely based on jokes. Who would jump on an aircraft from Heathrow to go to Australia for example to look for a bloger who he does not even know,he has not even seen.
All is a impossible and LT you should not be afraid of (unless RB has threatened to ban you)people’s views, expressing their own knowledge or ignorance should be allowed. You don’t necessarily share views of blogers at all. You are simply facilitationg the freedom of speech and expression.
    Cheers.
    Nayenda Manje.

  149. ##250 noway …

you are very right. Go to yahoo interaction and other interactions. Ghana, nigeria etc. They criticise their leaders. Its world over. So why should Zambians not criticise???? Is UNIP coming back??? No LT be mauture in this. Has govt approached you???
    Its really disponting???

  150. Ok LT is right about insults,Iam not only happy with the idea of not comfronting our leaders. As far as am concerned respect is earned not bought. So those leaders who felt insulted on this site should also respect us by responding to our cries, and doing right thing at a right time.Nit wasalapo Bike pali moyo wamunthu sure, that is if what wesley has said is true.

    NJOBVU KAZI

I get your concern my sister.

  151. **==
Insults feel good when you are stuck on them. I can understand why some sick minds out there are very worried, oh concerned. They always pounce on any available opportunity to spit out obscenities: verbal or written. Liberties are not unrestricted as we been made to believe under western style democracy. Get used to this FACT.

  152. Its good to know that some **==ian ‘leaders’ read these comments on LT at least they will know what Zedians really think about their leadership and many many things which is otherwise not talked about openly because of fear of being thrown in jail for speaking out LOUD! :)>-

  153. LT it seems arte beginning to feel the powers that be tightened the noose around its neck. Otherwise, they need to proceed cautiously with this matter.

  154. This issue even reminds me the war going on right now between Israel and Palestinians, though Israel claims they are fighting Hamas. If you watch CNN, BBC and Aljazeera, you will see that there is nothing like freedom of information an/or expression. On BBC and CNN info is withheld whereas on Aljazeera you get an angle not brought out by the western media. People in power will strive to deny the masses correct info on which they can make informed decisions. Ba LT don’t given to MMD pressure. Mwalatusebanya.

  155. Some comments sound like ‘If you cant allow us carrying guns into your club, why are you doing running this business’ spoilt kids.

  156. Dixie Chick,
It is a good move alright but depends on the angle LT is seeing things from. If they are doing this due to pressure from Govt, God forbid, because then we have been undone. Similarly, I have no kind words for abusive or obscene language.

  157. OR ‘It is my body after all I can do with it whatever I choose to do with it’

OR ‘You should not come into my bedroom, you might find me in the act’ saying that in your uncles house. Your parents house is just a few blocks away.

  158. #240, That should help in issues concerning impersonation. How about a blogger who attacks a fellow blogger (rather hurts another bloggers feelings)and has done nothing wrong, which way to go?

  159. OR Playing loud music in your uncles house and claiming ‘It is my right to enjoy myself’

OR Insulting the hell out of your father whilst still wanting to eat his food and sleep under his roof.

OK If then your father tells you ‘You have the freedom to leave’ you answer back and say ‘ It is my right to stay’ Spoilt kids of these days.

  160. Fellow Bloggers, I think we need to differentiate between “Criticise” and “Insult”.

Whereas criticism based on analysis of political, social, economic or other circulas issues is o.k., insults that are levied with reckless abandon are not.

I am sure a lot of you have been on the receiving end of unpalatable comments from fellow bloggers. Immagine how you felt. I have even read some passionate revenge bloggs by seemingly offended parties..!!

That is exactly how our leaders feel when they read bloggs like this. However, when we delivere critical analysis, that is devoid of personal insults, it builds and informs. You will be amazed that the Office of President maybe even has a …..

  161. Too much censorship will take out the fun, its just the regionalism & tribalism that should discouraged. The strong language should be allowed because it shows the true feelings of the individuals!!! People express their well their true feelings when they are emotionally charged.

  162. ….team to glean good ideas from bloggs such as these. Do not get me wrong. I am not saying that we should shut up. I am saying we should speak out using facts, figures, examples and intelligent argument. let us take a leaf from Obama’s campaign and Martin Luther’s non violence approach to debates.

I agree with LT, we can do better……!!!!!!!

  163. Discuss with your friends, The Post. Their editorials at times are abusive, threatening, defamatory / libelous, and attack others. This appears to be what is accepted in the media in Zambia. If the professionals can do it why not bloggers. The media body certainly has to bring in professional self regulation. Some leaders also do not deserve the respect you are trying to accord them, particularly when they engage in corruption using their positions and try and scheme to blame others. Such leaders should be exponsed, as is the case in the Mwanawasa puting the oil sector in this pocket. These are serious issues, and they should be highlighted.

  164. Soon and very soon we will be hearing thieves advocating for thier right to engage in their profession without infringement whatsoever.

‘I have a right to insult you’ someone says

  165. ‘I have a right to piss in your mouth for this will encourage and promote freedom of expression’ some says

For common sense sake, MODERATION is to exercised based on the values inculcated in you and were displeasure is to be shown, there avenues and ways to do this without necessarily being abusive.

  166. The most spoilt kids want unreserved (imaginary) and absolute freedom, which is absolutely a myth.

Here is freedom, to walk in the creators paths, for only him knows what you may ever never know.

  167. Sin is the current and constant gravitation away from Gods laws. The freedom from any God ward restraint is what others unconsciously term freedom. That is a big blank, unachievable. You will be free only as you are captured by the most generous Conqueror!

  168. Anonymouse

You have made your point please!
Ine nayenda manje mwe. Kuti walufyanya pa last.Teshile bwino LT lelo.

    Good night bloggers :)>-

  169. Zig Zag Chimfwembe & Anonymous #275 I have been following your valuable points. I agree with 99.9% of what you have said. I see that great minds think alike.:)

  170. This issue is very simple and yet some people are trying to make it complicated.
Everything in nature must obey a law and so must LT bloggers aswell. There are, however, those that will always try intriguing tactical arguments to force their way through. You know yourselves.

  171. I wish to commend LT for the observation and the request they have made to the bloggers.
I also hope that they will have an appropriate way of addressing these issues. For examle, I hope that people who will strongly argue their views over matters of national/society interest with strong constructive critism will not be taken for attackers.
I say this because their are many who want to change topics and sometimes discuss their own issues that may involve even imoral language. If such people are corrected by fellow bloggers they can easily gang up and vote such bloggers who criticise them as attackers.
Now, I hope LT will not just use majority vote as criteria for action against bloggers.

  172. the goat was not a woman wearing a miniskirt! So why critise womens dressing.. when sexual abuse is committed

  173. Well done LT but Sometimes bad words from certain bloggers is a sign of frustration in a way or so, until then, will one respond to insults otherwise, Forgive them they do not know wat they r doing. And as Green Flag, Well take into consideration the Time Zone differences worldwide, its now already getting dark outside where I am but I guess it is quite late back home (Sweet Zambia) and late for someone to still be at the office or internet cafe

  174. LT. now you contradicting yourself. You are suggesting we prome constructive criticisms and yet you resort to the opposite. Where is my post?:-w

  175. #287,L.T + Nine Chale , there is a breed of bloggers who feel they can make any derroragatory comments in order to afflict another blogger’s fellings for no apparrent reason at all, when the innocent bloger has clearly shown no interest to listen to that person anymore. Some are just purely ‘JUVENILLE DELIQUENT’ in all their blogging manner, some so nauseating.. lets sort out this issue amicabily and with voices heard from both ends….

IT PAYS TO LISTEN FROM BOTH ENDS

  176. some names in **== sounds like insults in different languages.. when i lived in Kampala i was shocked to hear the words they used when greeting in Luganda! The Ugandans were just as shocked when i mentioned words in bemba for certain items. eg Kamana, Mumana, or Chimana….

  177. #289 cont’d..
This is because these “numbara one”, “:d/ :d/” are on the majority.
And normally they change topics and want to just chat on private issues and lough and have a good time on the blog. Nothing wrong in loughing, joking and having a good time on the blog, but I think it will be wrong if that will cause LT to loose credibility.
Now, if LT will not be able to do their own evaluation of the votes and comments on the site such that we end up with voting that is not credible and well meaning bloggers are banished from the site. Then some of us will not even wait for LT to banish us but will simply let the site belong to that class of bloggers because then there will be no value.

  178. numb3r 301! HAPPY?

    LT please close THIS thread.

Am loosing alot of respect for people once articulate and clean. FACT: We have had our political/tribal/language/ethics/gender/ etc issues here before.

But at the end of the day am sure we’d all sit and have a beer and laugh stuff away. So a little kindness and UBUNTU is in order.

I avoid getting personal always. Fact is I sense the last kicks of a dying horse.

phpBB has to be installed on this server ASAP. Or some other equivalent with auto language filtering and the works. Users can propose to dictionary so we capture vernacular swear words as well as fast as possible.

There! I said what everyone has been trying to say without swear

  179. 285# Nine Chale,…I am a keen reader and follower of your bloggs too and I happy to say that you are always critical but fair and even where you dis-agree, you always give your logical reasons. I enjoy your contributions.

    Please keep it up..

  180. #302 yes I am :d I think vernacular swear words filtering is a good idea, but please allow me my simple pleasures of being nambala whatever

  181. It is a very good idea to help LT clean the mess. LT must also be very careful with topics to discuss. We must discuss issues that will add value, respect and intergrity to our country. We cannot afford to table retrogressive issues as time does not wait for anyone. Just last week it was 2008 and can we all count our contributions and effects they have had on our livelihood so far. Some have but most nothing.

  182. 303 Zig Zag Chimfwembe,

Many thanks for your uplifting remarks. I also really appreciate the good spirit of most bloggers on this site and will continue to do my best in helping to keep a clean, happy atmosphere as we share ideas with one another, learn and grow in the process.
To all other bloggers, I hope let us continue to enjoy our site without degrading comments.

    Thankyou

  183. LT, with 308# Ba Maureen’s epilogue, we are now “born again”. Please do not bring in passwords and log-ins.

  184. LT good move we need sanity on this site. People should learn to comment when need be not just making fun.

  185. For sure it is high time people become responsible in the way they express themselves. Freedom of expression does not mean that you insult others. Many times Iam just put off by some comments as they do not relate to the topic. If you have nothing to contribute please just keep away.

  186. #312 Sony Ericsson Phiri, I had taken some time out I was on the :)]

I am now back…..lol so bring it on

  187. Great way to start the new year Ba LT.yes 100% lets control the way we comment we want our leaders to be visiting this site and get to hear our views.lol :d/:d/:d/:d/

  188. I hope am not the last to comment on this issue; I was out most of the day. Thank you Ba LT; it indeed was long overdue. It is always very important to measure one’s words and I believe “what you say” does not matter as much as “how you say it”. Thumbs up!

  189. I have been waiting for this. Implement this policy dont just plead with us!Look at # 300 he still wants to continue with vulgar language!

  190. Gig Joe, no point complaining about No. 300 when you have not cast your vote against that comment. LT has been very categoric on what we should do if we disapprove!

  191. Ba LT naimwe,

Ok I understand that some comments are abusive as I dont support such either. But to threaten that elders or leaders read-ah! but nishi yashupa. Then izakala site with restrictions elo in your same comment’s plolicy-you say that you are not responsible for any blogger’s comment so tell that Elder or leader that wee!

  192. LT,
Also consider people with ‘bad names’ and cliques that just support one another’s views where anyone else is irrevant

  193. Morning Matworld-Nice guy! and the rest of the bloggers
Ba LT as you can see from the comments we are not cowards but real Zambians that are able to respond to your articles based on what is happenning in Zambia. If restrict us then your website will be as useless as everyone will be scared to say what is affecting us. Not only that we will stop passing comments coz you want our comments to be to your satisfation and politicians instead of the civilians. What a shame you are allowing politicians to take charge of your organisation. If whatever we have been commenting affects the so called elders i.e politicians then let them write to us and we will be more than happy to comment with

  194. Continued

to comment without fear becoz we know what is good for our nation. Those elders(Politicians) just think of making themselves rich at the expense of Tax Payers money.PLEASE INFORM THEM THAT IF OUR FREEDOM OF SPEECH IS AFFECTING THEIR LEGS/NOSE OR MAYBE THEIR WHOLE BODIES THEN LET THEM WRITE TO US WE WILL BE WAITING!!!

  195. it should also apply to the so called elders who are full of abusive language. if u live in a glass house dont throw stones.Why. u end up crying foul when others throw stones at you in return.

  196. Wamona Maestro hahhe etc, LT has even complained because of your comments, LT ensure that you block some of these bloggers so that we can have meaningful and educative debetes as we carry out our daily duties.

  197. “In addition we need to show respect to our leaders as it is very unZambian to insult elders. You may not agree with what they do but do not insult them. Some of the leaders do visit this web site.
“””””””””””” KAILI NABO BALETUCINDIKAKO IFWE BANTU BABO” TOO MUCH OF MARGINALISTION ILALETA UMU SALULA..
