Zambia Secures January Friendly Dates

Share

Zambia will face DR Congo and South Africa in separate friendly international matches at the month end when the team returns from the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup in Uganda.

Faz revealed today that Zambia will first host DR Congo at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka on January 25 in the first friendly match.

Zambia will later travel to Johannesburg to face South Africa on the 27th.

Faz however, is yet to reveal which team Zambia will face on the first official Fifa match date of 2009 on February 11 with Nigeria and Cameroon both interested in facing Herve Renard’s side.

Meanwhile, at the Cecafa Cup in Uganda, Zanaco midfielder Henry Banda is set to make his start for Zambia against Sudan on Thursday just 48 hours after joining the team.

According to sources familiar with the situation, Banda is expected to start in the vacant midfield role that was occupied by the injured Kabwe Warriors player Maunga Kabuku.

Zambia need to win their final Group B match against Sudan to secure a top two finish that will guarantee a berth in Sundays semifinals.

  1. I have very little hope for the Zambian team even in the ongoing CECAFA. I think they need to come up with plan Z. But unfortunately we have people that Dontcare!!!The ministry in charge of sports is still day dreaming

  2. Typical responses. Am a die hard Chipoloplo fan! For those of you in the dark, Nigeria’s choice of playing Zambia is the best calculated friendly I have seen so far.

    The Eagles face Mozambique (our neighbour) and Kenya (after CECAFA marked at par with Zambia). After this friendly they only have to figure out how best to sort Tunisia. Clever chaps.

    But even then, they know we have been hunting to break the Tunisians for a long time now so is a double plus!

    **== For life!

  11. So the only friendlies Zambia can get is Congo DR and South Africa. I think we’ve played these teams numerous times and anyone can easily predict the outcome. I really wonder if Kalusha knows how many countries are in Africa or the entire world I should say. This chap is dull, the motherf**** is so fascinated with SA he cant think beyond that country. Kalu you were my idle now I HATE you.
