37. The government should make witch hunting a criminal offense and anyone found guity should be locked up for a minimum of 15 years with hard labour. It will stop this witch hunting nonsense which seems to be targeted at elderly defenceless people. Education is the key plus investment in better health centres in rural areas. Some rural dwellers always claim its witchcraft when somebody dies from cureable illnesses even they are forgetting that politicians who are supposed to inspire development of health centres are not doing anything. Who are the MPs for Lukulu district? There is need to create employment opportunities in rural dwellers so that people become more productive.

The government can also take up long term measures by educating people commiting these crimes that it is an offense. Community radio stations can help in deseminating vital information over huge areas more easily. I’m not sure if there is a community radio station in Lukulu district. Other measures like community watchgroups can be set up plus regular community meetings to discuss matters must also be encouraged.
